I'm on for 13 back by the All-Star break...but who cares about the Rangers anyway???? Over-paid underachievers all. Go see the Frisco Roughriders or FC Dallas play if you want to spend your summer sports dollars in family-friendly environments and walk away without having to take a loan out to pay for a couple of beers and dogs!
-
BooHoo to the Texas Rangers!!!! I say....WAY TO GO GP! You want a minor league park and team...go get 'em! Have you been to a Texas Ranger game lately...BORRRRRRRRING! Too expensive, too long, too hard to get in and out of the park, taks a loan from the bank to enjoy a couple of beers and dogs! Do yourself a favor and go watch the Roughriders in Frisco or one of the local summer "wooden bat" league teams...it's great baseball, and you aren't subjected to the highest paid bunch of under-achievers in all of professional sports...the Texas Rangers baseball team! O.K., so maybe they are the biggest under-achievers, but....close enough for me! Spend your money at the Roughrider or FC Dallas games this summer and you will have a much better experience and stil have some $$$$$ in your pockets when you leave...very family friendly atmospheres too!

What about T.J. Hubbard...the interim head coach? Can he take the head coaching job and build a team here at UNT? Anyone close to the program have an opinion on that one?
-
Folks, this is Johnny helping an "old friend" who once hired him. It's done all the time in college athletics...take a look around. Tic has been out of coaching long enough that he probably hoped folks would have forgotten his somewhat "checkerd" past...I guess he was wrong on that one...I agree with Drex that Deon Hunter might have been a better choice. Deon played with a lot of heart and determination and has some nice ties to the community. Might have helped put some fans in the "emptiness" of the UNT basketball arena. Just thinking....an assistant like Tic will be here only long enough to get a "higher profile gig" somewhere else. You think he'll take Johnny with him this time???? You scratch my back...I'll scratch yours...just look around all college sports...all levels...and you will see this type of activity. O.K., so let's give Tic a chance here...he can coach...so, stay away from the female dorms, remember all those NCAA rules, and help UNT keep winning and adding ticket buyers and I'm just fine with Tic. Ball's in your court Tic. Do something with it!

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Beggs family. The UNT family has lost a great member. We will remeber!

Hey, what about a charter bus trip to the SMU game? I know Dallas is "close" and all that, but, hey, bus trips are fun and it's a good way to get UNT fans together. Besides, have you tried to drive to an SMU game and park anywhere near the place? Might be a great UNT Exes event...but open for all who want to ride down. It's so close that maybe we could use one of the UNT campus buses...any thoughts or ideas? Just wondering.....

Hey, let's add it at the college level too! It would be another women's sport for Title IX...Oh, instead, let's just kill another men's sport like we did the "winningest" program in the history of UNT...Men's soccer! I say, put them in full pads...give them say 75 full scholarships....that wouldn't cost much....Sorry...the sarcasm stuff doesn't come across well on-line.

I stopped going to games at the Cotton Bowl when my knees were shoved up under my chin in the way too close for comfort seats. Tried again when FC Dallas (Dallas Burn) played their home games at the Cotton Bowl. Great pitch quality (even the World Cup was played in the Cotton Bowl and I was there for all the games), but the place is a dump! Looks bad, smells bad, etc., etc. Bad concession areas, terrible restrooms, uncomfortable seats and that doesn't even mention the neighborhood it sits in...tough to get to, tough to park and you may not have a car when you come out! My wife will go anywhere for a games, EXCEPT the Cotton Bowl...and we went to many New Year's day Cotton Bowl games in our day! So.....too bad Mayor Miller...the place is a dump. Will take lots more $$$$ than you think to bring it up to "standard". My guess...after the TX-OU contract expires, it's bye bye Cotton Bowl...hello Arlington. As for OSU-Tech...good idea...I hope they land the game, but I don't think it's a "long term" solution for OSU and Tech Dallas recruiting....again...hello Arlington. But, as far as Jerry Jones flying out to Tech...NO CLASS...NO CLASS AT ALL! That's pure Jerry being Jerry...the poster boy for the "What's in it for me generation". If he wanted the game why did he wait until Dallas was close to signing them up to head to Tech?????? Jerry's like a little kid who doesn't want a toy LIKE yours he wants YOUR TOY! No class, Jerry, no class at all.

Hey, great bulletin board stuff for Dodge and his team. If this kind of stuff doesn't fire the team up...and Super J for sure...then we have no hope. And, HOPE is excatly what Dodge brings us after the most boring football I have ever sat through in my life under "D", and I am not a young feller either! I say, bring on this type of "stuff" and let's see what the team and Dodge make of it. Dodge can motivate players, and players tend to respond to new "ideas"...so, keep it up SBC teams...bring on the SMUT in the pre-season! I think we win a few this "yahoo" is not expecting us to win...A win over Navy at Fouts would be e BIG DEAL for us....Go GREEN!

Way to go ladies...GREAT win, and great PR for UNT! Way to hang in there in the 7th inning...you had me worried for a bit, but you showed your "want to/can do" spirit and came up with a BIG win...great for the program, great for the team and great for UNT. Well done, ladies...NOW...go out and with the tournament...you have showed everyone what you can do. GO EAGLES! -

Fantastic job...Lady Eagles...great to see UNT get this victory in the SBC tournament...WELL DONE! Way to hang on and win it in a close shoot-out. Now....let's bring home the tourney first place hardware. This wins shows what UNT can do...go get 'em GREEN! -
My favorite....any one of the SBC fields including Fouts after a MEAN GREEN VICTORY! Even a pig sty would be fine with me after a UNT win on the road or at home. But, if I gotta pick one...hey, I like the drawings of the "new" Fouts Field...oops...probably not going to be the name, right? So, when do we break ground????? GO MEAN GREEN! Yep, I'm a homer! By the way, the new Oklahoma State stadium is going to be one fantastic stadium....a little of Boone's money would sure help us break ground on a new complex too. Boone...where are ya when we need ya!

Who cares????? It's over...the Mavs are done! THEY CHOKED BIG TIME...so be it...now we can get on the the "real" season....UNT FOOTBALL...Go Green! And while you are at it...Join the Exes, Buy the "Sink Navy" shirt and we'll see you on the bus to ZeroU! -
Wow....southlake Carroll's Fb Season Tickets: $660
KRAM1 replied to Green Means Go!'s topic in Mean Green Football
Anyone out thete think that a "winning tradition" has something to do with supply and demand? Put a great product on the field and people will "line up" to buy your product! Put "garbage" on the field and you can't give the things away....I think UNT just may be figuring that out! Go GREEN! -
Ain't Texas politics great? And, remember, it's all about the STUDENT ATHLETE.....yea, and what turnip truck did you fall off? Come on boys and girls...would a good Christian school cheat???? I can't believe it...what is this world coming too???? Now, what was it I read about the home school "basketball acadmey" recently...or what about the JUCO that plenty of colleges were using to get their STUDENT ATHLETES qualified under NCAA guidelines? I just can't believe someone would cheat! :-) Tellme it isn't so! We must not be in Kansas anymore, toto!

Man, got to watch my typing.....too many typos!
-
Glad to see the change...let's move it to the NBA 3-point line...eliminate the extra lines on the court...slam dunks are soooooo much more fun to watch. Yep, move the women's out too...equal rights you know...would't want to say that women in sports were any different than the men...oops...there's that Title IX thuing again! Yep, sarcasm reigns supreme!

Mavs
KRAM1 replied to greenminer's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Is Dallas getting the rap of a "loser" sports town? I hope not...but what have the Cowboys, Mavericks, Stars, Rangers done in the last few years? And, even FC Dallas and the Desparados don't have much to glow about in the last couple of years with their early playoff run exits. What's up with all the playoff losses for Dallas area teams???? UGH! Save your money for UNT sporting events...cost less and one heck of bunch of fun. Easy to get to the games, and you can take the whole family without hocking the house! Buy UNT season tickets and forget the overpriced underperforming Cowboys, Mavs and Stars....you can still go see the Desparados and FC Dallas for a reasonable amount...and...the players are not overpaid!!!! Have fun UNT nation.... -
I came back...so did my wife! GO MEAN GREEN...GO UNT EXES!

My wife and I went to Denver to see jason kick. he did a great job and we had a great time seeing him kick for the Crush. He's a GREAT kid. We could not have a better ambassador for UNT than we have in Jason Ball. Quality kid, quality kicker. Glad to see him get some recognition. I wish some NFL team would at least give him a shot. He hit a 51 yard field goal against Kansas City this last week, but his line moved and he had to re-kick at 53 yards...missed. Too bad! Way to go lineman...3 poits off the board. But, he made a 39 yarder or so that was the winning margin in the game over KC. Tune in this Monday night and watch the game...Jason is #10. He wanted to wear #7, but that was Elway's jersey number...and since Elway is a partial owner of the Crush, no one gets to wear #7. GO Jason!

I voted...Johnny is in 2nd place...the rest...well, it WILL be decided on the field. Let's wish Johnny well and let him know we are behind him. By the way...Let's fill up several Exes buses for the truip to ZeroU...it will be great fun. And, while you are at it...Join the Exes...AND...participate in your local cahpter events. The Denton Exes are planning some great activities this year...come be part of the fun and show your support of UNT!
