I enjoyed the fact that BOTH bands were in attendance at the game. It helped make it an even better event....bring on the bands...both bands at all the games! It's FUN! And, this is entertainment after all...and we have too few entertainment dollars cahsing too many entertainment opportunities to miss any chance to make UNT football MORE FUN to watch! It's an event...not just a game! O.K., now bring on those comments about how football is life and so very important....if so, and without looking it up somewhere...what was the score of UNT's fourth game in the 1999 season??? Quick, you know it's life, right? Just kidding...great fun Saturday night...bring on both bands because the GREEN BRIGADE always wins...

I'll be there...as always. It will be interesting to see the turnout tonight after a win...let's hope the "noise" stops about the lack of defense...the defense stepped up and played great! By the way...The Exes are about OUT of SINK NAVY T-Shirts...there are 40 left in all sizes, but some sizes are VERY limited. If you are going to be at the Todd Dodge show this evening, I will have the shirts in my car and would be happy to sell them to folks who show up for the show. I will be sitting with Jim Hobdy, John McDowell, etc. if you don't know who I am from all my posts on this site...just let me know. If you need a specific size...you can send me an email/post/message on this board and I'll hold a size for you...if it remains...let me know. I would rather they go to folks who support and follow MEAN GREEN FOOTBALL (and the Mean Green in general) through this site, the Coach Dodge Show, the games themselves, etc. rather than just anyone...so, if you want give me a message...show up at the Coach Dodge Show this evening...and get with me after the Show...we will not be selling in the event. great win saturday...glad I was theer for Coach Dodge's first win! GO MEAN GREEN....

You get "rears in the seats" by being fan friendly and by winning...UNT did the winning thing last year...YIPPEE! But, they still lag in the "fan friendly" dept. The first day "ain't all about practice"..... You think we have so many empty seats at the Super Pit because we don't practice enough????? Maybe the seats are not as full as we would like or need because the effort isn't there to get the folks to part with the precious few "entertainment dollars" they have today...A little more hype, a little more PR, a little more "fan friendly" atmosphere and I'd bet you would fill some more seats and make for a better "home crowd"...that's worth a few points in every game. But, then, what do I know...I guess it's "all about practice". Where can I get season tickets to practice??????
-
Who knows...it's a secret! Just another opportunity to hype the program and the team going by the wayside.....Does the Dept. have anyone thinking about this sort of thing???? Why hide all the stuff...let your fans know and let them know NOW! They missed a great "midnight madness" opportunity...didn't have to be at midnight...but a little pre-season opening practice event...with some hype...would have been nice...now, maybe they can "re-group" and do something pre-homecomming in a green-white scrimmage. Don't hold your breath waiting on the announcement.

The UNT Athletic Dept. has not yet moved past their "small school" mentality. I think they are trying, but there are too many "it's the way we have always done things" still around the dept. If you want to be big time, and get $$$$ for things like new stadiums and fill seats with season ticket holders, you have to start acting "Big Time", not just talking big time. It's kind of like the comment "your lips are moving so fast that I can't hear what you are saying". The Athletic Dept. begs for more support then they do a bunch of things that boggle the mind and turn fans away. Who cares if only 10-20 people show up for "midnight madness" this year...it's a start. I think they tried it one year, and didn't get a good turnout, so it's...gee, "we tried that and our fans didn't show up"...well, duh!!!!! Keep it going and keep trying...find something that does work...like maybe a co-ed scrimmage between the men's and women's teams with players split between the two teams for a 10 min. game or so, so face painting for the wee ones, autograph sessions, talks by the coaches, player uniform "shows", ticket sales opportunities, some music, some fun.....etc., etc. Thinking small just doesn't get you anywhere....hey, why isn't the Mean Green Club all over this???? Oh, I forgot, it's not really a "club", it's just a ticket sales organization...pay me a "bonus" (ie; join the mean green club) and I'll "let" you buy decent seats for our games. WOW! Great concept...original too! I have no problem with the "pay up for a premium seat", but why call it a "Club"...the "Club doesn't do anything"....have you see the director around anywhere except the athletic dept. facilities lately? What events are going on? O.K., maybe you get my drift here...UNT does need to be a bit more "fan friendly"...Here we are coming off an NCAA tournament year, and still they can't seem to find a way to capitalize on it. I know the Athletic Dept. is working to improve UNT sports, but how, in "sam hill" can you MISS such a big opportunity to really play the start of BB practice up BIG????? Go figure! I guess we fill up the Super Pit at every game and we don't need to find ways to get the fans excited and to get more "rears in the seats"...we sell out every game, right????? Oh, really, we don't ... gee I guess I missed something... They way they are acting you would think it's standing room only at the Super Pit for for every home game! Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... Can't keep missing these opportunities...gotta realize it's "entertainment" and that you are competing for family "entertainment dollars"...with everything the way it is today, those entertainment dollars are getting fewer and fewer for many folks...UNT BB (and other sports) need to make sure they are "top of mind" in the race to capture those precious entertainment dollars...hey, UNT has a great business school...let's get Athletic Dept. folks to go talk to some of the marketing and Ad guys on campus!
-
Good, the folks are not quite as "backward" and "fan friendly challenged" as it appeared...glad we got the "other side of the story"...there always is one.. NOW...why just "allow" folks to come if they don't interrupt practice on the first day of practice? Why not turn it into a media and fan event with tickets available for sale, autograph sessions, face tattoos by the cheerleaders, some games for the kids with the teams...both men's and women's...why not a joint opening practice with the men and women? How about a friendly scrimmage with the teams split so there would be a co-ed team playing a co-ed team for say 10 minutes? That might be alot of fun! O.K., so I am thinking like a sales guy, but we need to do more than we are to sell UNT ATHLETICS! Way to go guys...open it up...but make it an EVENT!
-
YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! NOT OPEN TO THE PUBLIC????? When...if ever...will the UNT Athletic Dept. become "fan friendly" like so many of the other colleges and universities around the country? What's up with this "closed practice" thing for the first practice? What a GREAT PR and ticket sales opportunity...oh, I forgot, we sell out man's and women's basketball games on a regular basis, so we don't need to be fan friendly or promote the programs...NOT! Another GREAT opportunity bites the dust in Denton. Have we/I missed something here? Does the NCAA ban "fan friendly" situations? What's up UNT Athletic Dept. folks? If I were in charge of the Mean Green Club I would be furious. That might be too much to ask of the MGC because it would be acting like a "Club" and not just an extension of the ticket sales office. If NOTHING else, open it to Mean Green Club members and give them so "real" reason for joining the Mean Green Club in the first place...not just a requirement to buy tickets in certain locations! Come on folks, we are trying to get support going for UNT athletics and UNT in general...this is NOT the way to go about it! Let's hope we are all wet here, and that this "first practice" event will be open to the public and a good time can be had by all...I will keep my hopes alive until I am proved wrong...Come on Rick...Come on Johnny...come on Tina...put your thinking caps on and understand what a great opportunity you have to make it a great night for UNT fans with the start of basketball season and the football pep rally combo. Man, a great PR situation you guys are turning into a PR nightmare... Let's hear from the athletic dept. on this...there must...just must be more to this story...I know there are two sides and I'd like to hear from the "accused" BEFORE they are convicted of pure nonesense and a pure "slap in the face of our fans" mentality! I know you folks read this board from time to time...so, let's hear from you on this one...PLEASE. You can re-think the issue, you know...it is not too late!
-
That was a pretty short drive to work, wasn't it Greenjoe? I'm thinking all of about 6 miles. So, you probably didn't get all that much of the radio show. Good to see you at the Coach Dodge show Monday evening... Have you got your "Sink Navy" shirt yet...you know the ship no longer exists, right? GO MEAN GREEN...FILL FOUTS THIS SATURDAY...See you there!
-
The team is improving each week...win 1-2-3-4 or more....no problem...it's the future that is bright and we need to focus on that fact...not today...The future is not NOW with UNT football as some have thought. The future is looking better all the time...we will be asking if we will go 9-3, 10-2, 11-1 02 12-0 one of these days. Yep, it's "homerism" at its best, but me thinks it is so! GO MEAN GREEN!

GrayEagleOne...NICE!

WOW! 41 years YOUNG and still standing! remember...it is the DAY we celebrate...not the age. You will appreciate that line more as you age...ever so gracefully! Happy Birthday, Rick.
-
Bring on 0-12 if it means we will have a brighter future! I still think we willput some "W's" up before the season is over...perhaps this Saturday, so you had better be there to see the first win in the Todd Dodge era! A long era, I hope...a long and successful era! I'm thinking we can get 3-4 W's up before the season is over...good things are developing with this team...yes, even the defense...and TD is looking to his younger players to provide a spark...and, let's not forget...to get them ready for next season. Season one is, well, season one....it is what it is and what it will be...BUT, step back, take a breath and I think you will see some very positive signs developing with this team. The team seems "together", and there seems to be no sign of finger pointing...at least not outwardly...this is good and it bodes well for the future of this team. As the famous "Yogi Berra" is credited with saying...at least I think it was Yogi...it sounds like Yogi..."It ain't over until it's over"! And, this "ain't over" and it's getting better and better...be there to see it happen!

This will be a fun game...win or lose. I hear Navy has scooped up over 7000 tickets for the game! Should be a great atmosphere at Fouts for the whole event. As Mean Green fans WE SIMPLY MUST FILL FOUTS FIELD! Let's get out there and bring firends with us...We need to make this the biggest crowd in Fouts Field history...BAR NONE! Get ready for a HIGH SCORING affair with lots of "opportunities" to "make or break" the game wide open...on both sides. I said all along that this would be a tough game for us, but I am not ready to concede anything to Navy at this point. That's why you "line 'em up" and play the game. ALSO...yes, I will say it again...EVERYONE should be wearing a "SINK NAVY" T-Shirt. They are still available...the Denton Exes have received their third order of shirts after selling out the first two shipments...so, who knows how many more will be available...but, they will be available this Saturday before the game in the Tailgate area (Exes area). Come on out and buy several for yourself and your friends...let me remind you once again...ALL proceeds go to UNT scholarships! I am trying to get my son and his wife...both Navy Lieutenants...to come to the game, but it is not looking good for them at this point. Seems "Uncle Sam" has other plans for them that weekend. Bummer...BUT, they will both be getting Sink Navy T-Shirts ahead of time from Mom and Dad! Frankly, they both liked the first edition with the ship on it better than the current one...I guess they aren't very PC, or maybe they just enjoy the fun and spirit of it since both were college athletes and both know what it's like when the service academies play each other...the signs are brutal! See you at the game this Saturday...and see you at the Navy game too! Be there...it will be a SUPER EVENT!

I, too, thought the turbnout was "pretty good" for this week's show. I almost missed going, but had to get myself (and my wife) there to support Dodge and the team. It is easy to be a fan when you are 5-0...just ask all the "new" Dallas Cowboys "fans" you meet since they are now 5-0...it is another thing altogether when your team is 0-5. This IS THE TIME to get out and support this team and this program. The show was good and being with the Mean Green Nation is a plus in itself. Sweetwater is a decent location...the food is good and the beer is cold enough...we do need all the wait staff wearing Mean Green colors if they work the patio during the show...bring that hat on Greenjoe. I have been to all but one of the Dodge Shows this year, and it seems we get the same group each week...with one or two "newbies" or returnees. Come on olks, make it a crowded patio at Sweetwater this next week. WIN OR LOSE. As I have said many times this year...I want these things from UNT football this season: 1. A team that plays to the last whistle ... GOT IT! 2. An enjoyable game to watch for my season ticket dollar ... GOT IT! I am two for two and a happy camper...sure I'd like to see some W's, but I don't expect too much in that arena this first season...it's a "whole new ballgame"...new offense, new defense, new coaches, new expectations, etc., etc. Hey, it's fun...come on out and support the Mean Green this Saturday and then join me Monday at Sweetwater...win or lose...I'll be there! Have you got your Sink Navy shirt yet? They will be available at this Saturday's game in Tailgate area at the Exes tent. Buy several...proceeds go to UNT scholarships!
-
GREAT...Thanks "BonfireBrian" and TJ Hartford's. If this event is even near as much fun as the last event you guys held with the Exes and the Athletic Dept. it will be a great evening. BRING OUT THE MEAN GREEN NATION TO TJ HARTFORD'S in Lewisvill...let's fill the place with Green. Hey...free chips and salsa with a food order "ain't" a bad deal...besides the beer is cold, and you need nothing more than Mean Green Football, cold beer, a bit of food, chips and salsa and a bunch of Mean Green fans to have a great Saturday night....O.k>, well there are a few other items that make for a good Sat. night, but let's not get thrown off the board!
-
NewUNTfan07...and just what makes that news conference a joke or crap? You certainly did not say why you thought so in your posting...at least I didn't "get it" if you did. Why would Dodge play his hand about his QB's to the media, and what was it about the Chatman suspension that was either "crap or a joke"? Just wondering...since you are a "new" UNT fan, perhaps you don't know about all the real "stuff" the "old" UNT fans have suffered the last few years under Dickey.....Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm...me thinks there is something rotten in Denmark with your post!
-
The soccer team is great and deserves our support. Get out to a home game when ever your schedule allows...too bad they are often on Sunday's when the Cowboys are playing in the fall...I'll bet that keeps some folks away...but UNT Soccer is better than Dallas Cowboy football on TV! So, come on out...Friday and Sunday home games on the schedule!!!!
-
Personally, I would like to see us schedule some "known" opponents for Fouts to get the fans out and excited. Like Navy (Nov. 10th...be there and wear a "Sink Navy T-Shirt), Army, Air Force, Baylor, SMU, TCU, Tulsa, Tulane, Rice, Harvard, Yale (are the Ivy League guys D-1?), etc. Big enough schools that will provide us some great exposure, and get fans in the seats, but still give us a decent chance of a win UNTIL Coach Dodge gets his team set the way he wants it and we can take on the BIG BOYS...well BIGGER BOYS like Okla. State, TTech, Kansas, BYU, etc.... I just don't care, at this stage in the team's development, to go get the "stuffing" beat out of us by the OU's and the Arkansas' of the world. The time will come...soon, I hope, but let's give the team a break for the next couple of years. Yes, I know schedules are set WAY in advance...so, it's pretty much a done deal for the next couple of years...but, we switched from Miami to LSU! Gee, that was a "relief"! Ha! GO MEAN GREEN!
-
I think Coach Dodge is the type of man who has the integrity to start at QB the player he thinks gives us the best chance of winning...if that's Vizza or Meager or Riley...so be it. I think he makes decisions based on what he feels is the best for the team...and the ones he feels give us the team the best shot at a win. We, as fans, may or may not always agree with his decision...that's why he makes the big bucks and we sit in the stands....but, I do not question his thought process nor his integrity about such things. GO MEAN GREEN...see you at Fouts on the 13th! Let's make sure we do all we cvan to get as many "rear ends" in the seats at Fouts as we can on the 13th. If you have tickets and you can't make the game for some reason...PLEASE PLEASE get them to somone else who will DEFINITELY use them...we, as fans, need to be there, in big numbers and with LOUD voices.....SUPPORT THE GREEN!
-
I'll be at Sweetwater this evening, but it won't be to ask questions about the QB or the goal line play call or the defense....it will be to support Coach Dodge and the team. Tough deal coming in to a program like UNT's under Dickey the last couple of years...heck, I don't think Stoops even applied for the job or Mack Brown either...or TCU's Patterson....you know what? We now have the next Patterson, Stoops, Brown...just give Dodge some time. I think we need to do a "Marshall" thing and show up with "I BELIEVE" buttons...great idea...where do we get them? Who in their right mind, expected UNT to be 4-0 at this point in the season? The "experts" sure didn't as we have been underdogs for every game INCLUDING SMU and Fla Atlantic (I thought we could beat both of those teams)...but, the SMU game was a really fun game to watch and I got every penny of my entertainment dollar in that one, and I rode the Exes bus to OU and have to say...other than the final score...my entertainment dollars were well spent enjoying a great Staurday with the Mean Green! Can't say, even when we won, the same thing about the last two seasons...just wasn't fun and the price was too steep for the $$$$$ spent. It will be great to look back and say we were there "when it all began"....see you at SWEETWATER this evening!
-
Hey, I'm still with Dodge and the Mean Green. I recall stating earlier on this site that what I expected in 2007 was an exciting team to watch (GOT IT!) and a team that plays to the last whistle (SEEMS I GOT THAT TOO!). So, for me...all is O.K. No, I do not like getting the "you know what" kicked out of us, and I did expect that we would play Ark., OU, etc. closer, but....I still got what I asked for this year, and I think we'll see that all year. Could the D play better...YEP! Do we need to "learn" a bit more about D1 and the "big boy football" played at D1? YEP! But, it's 4 games, folks...let me sat that again...it's 4 games! "The times they are a changin'"...maybe slower than we want...but "you can't always get what you want...sometimes you might get what you need"! We need Coach Dodge and his positive attitude, positive expectations and his exciting brand of football. Things will begin to look up us Coach Dodge gets his own recruiting classes around him and as his coaching staff gets a little "seasoning" at the D1 level. Keep the faith...I am...AND ENJOY SOME EXCITING FOOTBALL THIS YEAR while we wait a bit on the wins to catch up to the excitement. GO MEAN GREEN...SUPPORT THE TEAM...FILL FOUTS FIELD....let's not let this start keep us from showing up for the games at Fouts...and the away games whenever possible. The fan of the MEAN GREEN NATION need to do their part also to help bring on the WINS...and that means filling the seats and donating to the program when/if you can! See you at Fouts!

Don't get too worked up over the student "lack of knowledge" regarding the football team. If I were a betting man, I'd bet they have not picked up a newspaper or watched a TV news cast in some time, and probably will not in the future. It is just a sample of the way things seem to be today with "young folks". Heck, the second they graduate they seem to think they should be the president of the company! The "gotta have it now generation with the don't have a clue common sense". O.K., maybe that was a bit harsh, but give them some time, let the team start showing some real progress (they will...and soon) and the word will get to them. I have witnessed not only student apathy, but faculty and staff apathy and fan apathy for many years...just look across the field at the student section and you'll know what I mean...and they get in cheap! But, this "bettin' man" says, hide and watch and things will improve. I think we will see the day soon when students and non-student fans alike will be worried about getting tickets to a UNT game. It's coming...... Put a great product on the field, play some good and "known" teams, start a campaign for a new stadium and all things change...It's up and up for the Mean Green from there. BEAT ARKANSAS!!!!! GO MEAN GREEN!!!!! JOIN THE EXES!!!!! BUY A SINK NAVY T-SHIRT!!!!! Have a great weekend!

Tank Johnson To Dallas
KRAM1 replied to NT03's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Personally, I am sorry to see Dallas sign this guy. His "history" is not good and I think it's a big chance to take for very little return. The team is 3-0 with the guys they have...why take a chance on this guy...may not be a very good influence in the locker room, and TO does not need competition for the Cowboy "bad boy" of the week award...although, I must admit, TO has been on pretty good behavior so far this year...and his production shows it! -
I see where the Coach Dodge Show has moved to Sweetwater...no problem, I like Sweetwater...go there fairly often on Friday evenings...the beer could be colder, but the food is good. BUT< I missed last Monday's show in person because I was out of town...came back and found out the show had moved from Hooter's. Does anyone have any idea why the location was changed? I hope it wasn't because some PC clown thought Hooter's wasn't the "right" kind of place to host the show. I hope there was some other reason such as how they have to set up the equipment, size of location, other commitments by Hooters that limited the times available to the show, etc., etc. Anyone have a clue?

Todd Dodge Show Live Tonight From Sweetwater
KRAM1 replied to ntsumgspe's topic in Mean Green Football
Is the Sweetwater mover permanant?
