  1. At the Coach Dodge show last evening at Sweetwater, I learned that if we have 15,000+ in the stadium on Saturday, we will set a home attendance record! Come on Mean Green fans...we have to be there...weather will be "interesting" perhaps, but the game will go on! It's Senior Day....let's show our support. Here's a question...can/do we count all season ticket sales as attendance even if the holder does not actually show up at the game or is it just actual attendance? Does nayone know the REAL story here? SEE YOU Sat. at the game..... GO MEAN GREEN....Exciting it is!
  2. Don't get me started o the polioti9cs of this stuff... San Fran is soooooooooooo, well san fran. I try not to pay attention to what they say or do...like most of the politicians and courts in California as a whole....ther should be re-named...The People's Republic of California or something close to that!
  3. Thanks, Smitty, for clearing this up with a call to the Athletic dept. I had even seen it listed as 4:00PM. How hard can it be to get the times right in the various news outlets??? Thanks again...see you at the game Saturday! GO MEAN GREEN!
  4. Great game! Great fun...it was nice to see how quiet the OSU fans got at the end of the game.....take that in the shorts Pokes! The crowd was good, but should have been bigger...I graduated from OSU along with UNT...at OSU you had better be there early if you want a chance at a seat...students, that is. Our students were great tonight. I give them my congrats...keep coming and bring some friends...but, the OSU folks almost filled several sections...we should have had 10,000 at this game! If you were there...good for you...if you wanted to be there, but couldn't make it...see you next time...if you just didn't come...Well, you missed a great evening at the Super Pit! GO MEAN GREEN!
  5. You are right, SUMG...I forgot the details, I guess...thanks...that's what being so much younger than me does for you! I forgot what? Hmmmm...what were we talking about?????
  6. NICE...very nice...and that brings me back to the question as to who was really responsible for moving the Coach Dodge show each Monday evening at 6:30PM from Hooter's to Sweetwater???? Hey, Sweetwater is great, but you can't beat wings and Hooter Girls all at the same time. Heck, my wife told me that she woul;d have considered the job as a Hooter Girl in her "younger days".....I won't give out her age now or anything because some of you folks out there know who I am and know my bride...but, let's just say...today...Hooter Girl? Hmmmmmmmmm...close but no cigar! She's my Hooter Girl, however! So, nect let's have the girls of .....oh, heck...the girls of anywhere will do...as my Dad told me..."son, all girls are good...some are just better than others"...O.K., so he really said that about BBQ, but it works here too, right?
  7. Agreed....nice job on the "O" side of the ball....now for a little defense.....GO MEAN GREEN...BEAT ARK. State!
  8. RV mentioned a deal with Army at the Exes Mixer and he mentioned talking with Air Force too, but I undersstood Army was a "done deal" on a home and away package and that Air Force was still in the "talking stages" but looking like a real possibility....possibility, I said. let's not start any rumors out there! I got the impression that the first Army game would be in 2009...can't remember if it was here or there...but, either way...I'm there! Things are really looking up for the Mean Green's future schedules...I think RV is really trying to upgrade our schedule without having to play the OU's and LSU's of the world in our openers on the road every year. Let's hope these "money games" are not a necessity in the yeras to come...and that turn into games we can win when we do schedule them...COULD VERY WELL HAPPEN! Bring on that new stadium and we get more of these teams in Denton like we saw last weekend...GO MEAN GREEN...BEAT NAVY! Oh, sorry...we didn't do that...THIS YEAR! Wait until next time! WE WIN THAT ONE!
  9. Hey, I just wanted to say thanks to our Dance and Cheer squads for the great job they did Saturday at BOTH the football and basketball games. They were probably pretty tired after the Navy game, but there they were going full stean ahead at the basketball game later that evening! My wife and I chatted with a cheerleader as she made her way from the football game to the basketball game...Man, she looked tired, but she was ready to go for basketball. She was heading somewhere to get a Tylenol for her back as it was hurting aftyer being thrown around all during the Nvy game...but we spotted her at the Pit BEFORE the start of the basketball game being thrown around some more...all with a big smile on her face. Folks, these kids are athletes too...and they work hard. Give them a big thank you when you see them! By the way...dance and cheer squad members, in uniform, showed up at the Exes Mixer the evening of the 7th prior to the Navy game just to show their support and help. Gotta love those young men and women. Tell them thanks every chance you get. They are, indeed, great athletes and a great benefit to UNT! And, no...none of my kids have ever been on a dance or cheer squad...so, I am not a "paid" contributor!
  10. My wife and I made it over the the Super Pit after the football game Staurday. It was a great day for UNT fans and memebrs of ther Mean Green nation. Yes, I too, was a bit disappoinrted in the turnout..BUT, it was after the Navy game...some folks were probably tired, some were probably "bummed out" after the loss to navy and opted to go home, and some perhaps stayed away due to the size of the crowd at the football game and the possibility of not being able to park. Who knows, but OSU is at the Pit tonight...let's see where the crowd is for tonoght's game. If you can't get excited about OSU playing at UNT, well...you are not much of a fan. Hey, where were the students Saturday night?????? Also, a bit "thanks" to the cheer and dance squads...they were at both games Satirday...they work hard and were probably pretty tired but they made it...well done!
  11. See you at the PIT tonight. Let's fill the place...if you have your Exes Let's Dance T-Shirt...WEAR IT to the game. GO MERAN GREEN!
  12. My wife and I will be there...we FINALLY...received our tixckets in the mail. Took about 9 days to go from Denton to Denton...Hmmmmmmm. Anyway, it will be a great game...and, for me, interesting since I am a grad of both UNT and OSU! So...GO MEAN GREEN...GO COWBOYS...BUT...GO MEAN GREEN MORE!!!!!! Here's hoping for a Mean Green win against a Big XII team....see yo all at tyhe PIT! Let's fill the place tonight!
  13. Amen...now...let's move on!
  14. Way to go ladies! That should tell a few of the skeptics that this team was not ready to "pack it in" after a few tough losses down the stretch. I am very proud of this team and Coach Hedlund for keeping it together and coming back strong. I smell a tournament championship for UNT! Go get 'em ladies! GO MEAN GREEN! GO SOCCER...the REAL football!
  15. Way to go....local kid with some talent and lots of room to develop at the next level! Great...brin 'em on. Sounds like the kid has some brains too if he wants to be sure the academic side fits for him. Sound like the kind of student-athlete that will be a great fit for us! GREAT!
  16. So, Smitty...who elected you to the title of PC Police Captain???? You get to say what is and waht is not correct? If I re-read your posts I am sure I can find plenty of opportunity to do my own bit of PC Police work...give it a rest....this is called an opinion board for a very good reason...MY OPINION is...that kids who act like this have often been given way too many free passes in their young lives. So, what part of that is a problem? It's an opinion...you seem to have plenty of them. Give it a rest, and let's get on with the NAVY game... GO MEAN GREEN...BEAT NAVY. (with kids who want to play football and follow the team rules)...couldn't resist that last one!
  17. Congrats to drex and Wes...great job...will certainly look for the chart.....Way cool!
  18. Smitty...re-read the post...it says "probably"...meaning "I don't know for sure...but". If that is a slam on anyone you are WAY TOO SENSITIVE...tell me that you are not aware of the "free passes" that athletes get in society these days? If you can honestly tell me that, then I want to drink the Kool-Aid you have been drinking.
  19. WOW! So, the whole thing has now boiled down to Jesus! It had to either be Jesus or George Bush in the end... Sorry, couldn't resist that one. Yes, let's move on, but we do not need to give these "kids" a "pass" for their behavior. Let it go and move on, ABSOLUTELY. Stop all the "personal" attacks on this site...ABSOLUTELY. But, we can not forget about the sort of damage this type of thing does to UNT overall and the football program in specific. These kids, do not deserve to be anywhere near the program EVER again. Forgive, certainly, but they do need to suffer the consequences of their own actions. They have probably received too many "free passes" in their young lives and that's why they did what they did. So, to all the great posts above I say thank you very much for bringing some sanity into the discussion and LET'S MOVE ON! GO MEAN GREEN - BEAT NAVY!
  20. Things are really looking up for athletics at UNT...heck our soccer team is in the Sunbelt finals Saturday...we play Navy AT HOME (Fouts) Saturday and we raise the NCAA banner in the Super Pit Saturday. It's GREAT to be a member of the Mean Green Nation! Yes, if we play ARMY it will be at Fouts...you can count on that! Navy is at Fouts...no more of that "home away from home" stuff! At least, that's my hope...plus, we have a new stadium on the horizon. And, yes, RV did mention the new stadium at the Exes Mixer Wed. evening...no, not in public and not "officially", but the new stadium was mentioned in a very positive way during my conversation regarding playing Army. I really do believe that RV WILL make the new stadium happen! See you at the Navy game Saturday and at the banner raising! GO MEAN GREEN!
  21. Too bad it was a "story" at all...nothing to it in the first place...never was...never will be. A lot of nothing about nothing that became a something because someone couldn't take a little "tough love" from the football staff. Give me a break! It's just too bad for everyone, including the young men in question, that the "race card" was played. Should have stayed "in house". My guess, the young men in question will certainly regret "going public" about this once they actually grow up a little and get over being "entitled" to anything just because they can play a sport at the D-I level. My hope is that everyone gets over it and takes something positive out of it all. I think, after listening, in persn, to some of the players speak, hearing TD and Gretchen B speak about it, that it just might be a positive thing for the team in the long run this season...sort of a "let's come together moment". Hope so. Sorry for the kids! GO MEAN GREEN!
  22. Hey, in speaking briefly with Rick V at last night's Denton Chapter Exes Mixer, he said that we are very close to getting Army on our schedule in a home and away deal. How cool would that be? Count me in for both the home and away games! I've been on the West Point campus, and it is a wonderful thing just standing around the place. My son went to the US Merchant marine Academy and his team played the Army soccer tem in a pre-season scrimmage at West Point one year. I was lucky enough to be in NY on business at the time and "hitched a ride" to West Point for the game. If you can...and if we really do get to play Army at West Point (and in denton)...Make plans and be there! You will not regret the time or the cost! Well worth it. BEAT ARMY...O.K., BEAT NAVY FIRST!!!!! GO MEAN GREEN! If you skipped the Exes Mixer last evening, you missed a really nice event and evening....
  23. It was great! We had a decent crowd that included the chairman of the board of regents, the university president, the new VP for finance, the athletic director, the men's and women's basketball coaches, the assoc. director of the Murphy Enterprise Center and the new director of the Mean Green Exes...nopt to mention several other athletic dept and academic leaders. Cheer team and dance squad members also attended which, in my mind, is always a good thing! Speakers were Joan Ackerson from the Murphy Enterprise Center, Coach Tina Slinker and Coach Johnny Jones. The food was great, the beverages were cold and it was great to "mix" with other members of the Mean Green Nation. If you were there...thanks for coming and I hope you had a great time...if you missed it, we are soory you couldn't be there, and hope you can make the next one. I understand the Denton Exes are planning three more events this year...another Mixer in january, the annual scholarship auction event in April and a "cook-out/picnic family event in April. Stay tuned for details... Hey, it was all FREE too last night! Yippee! See you Saturday for the Navy game...and the raising of the NCAA banner at the Super Pit after the game!
  24. Nov. 7th...still no tickets...Gee, "snail mail" really is a fact...IF thwe folks actually mailed the tickets when they said they did...Nov. 2nd "mailed" per ticket office...from denton to Denton...Nov. 7th...NO TICKETS...me thinks something is up somewhere.
  25. I'll be there! Looking forward to seeing everyone. GO MEAN GREEN! JOIN THE EXES!!!! All Exes and their guests are welcome tonight....come on over for a nice mixer with the Mean Green Nation...well, some of it at least!
