Pacman Finally A Cowboy
KRAM1 replied to Green Mean's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Man, pro sports...you just gotta love 'em! If...and it is a HUGH IF...Pacman can stay out of jail and on the field he could be a good pick-up by the Cowboys. JJ is tired of not showing well with the "boys and will do about anything to get more wins...isn't that what pro sports is all about after all? Hey, I am a Cowboys fan here, so let's not go off the deep end...but, it is a shame that a gifted athlete can get away with this stuff and still play in the NFL...or anywhere. Great lesson for the kids...if I am good enough I can get away with anything and still play! CHARACTER simply does not count AT ALL in pro sports these days it seems...not too darn sure about it in HS or college sports these days...and, have you seen some of the parents and coaches at LL baseball, youth soccer, etc., etc. these days???? But, I digress...the T.O. "experiment" seems to be working out with the Cowboys at this point...I guess we'll just have to wait and see how it goes with the newest solid citizen, Mr. Pacman Jones.... I do wish him and the Cowboys nothing but success.... -
IT'S NOT SO!

Gas Prices
KRAM1 replied to GoMeanGreen1999's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Solar Power...Nuke Power...Thermal Power...all need to be researched and developed at much greater rates than are currently happening here in the states...Man, if France...France for frigging sakes...can use nuke poers safely then so can we.....these power sources will relieve a great deal of pressure on our dependance of foreign oil and will not put pressure on food stuffs, the environment, etc. that grain based fuels will...and, hey, how about all that "oil sand" I keeo hearing about in Canada?????? With gas at $3.50/gal. getting that stuff out and refined and transported from Canada is lokoking better and better.... Come on folks...the technology and the money is there to solve this problem...get the lobbyists and the special interest groups out of the way...including the eco looney-birds...and let's get on with solving the problem...it can be done and pretty darn quickly too! -
Texas Rangers
KRAM1 replied to NT03's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
To all you true pro baseball fans out there in GMG land...are the Rangers really as bad as they appear to be???? Ties for the worst record in the AL already and we are not even out of April. So, if you follow pro baseball...tell me...any hope for what appears to be a bumbling error prone squad???? Is it yet another year of bad baseball in Arlington???? Tell me it really isn't so..... -
Have faith ye Mean Green Nation! The stadium will be built and it will be built in your lifetime! It isn't easy raising this kind of cash at UNT...just ask some of the development folks when they talk to people about supporting their university department...not to mention athletics. I have graduated from three different universities (UNT Twice) and UNT is far and away the most "challenging" when it comes to alum involvement, giving, attendance at athletic and academic events, etc., etc. UNT has a "long tradition" of "NOT giving and not supporting" by its alumni base. Just try to figure out how many $100 to $500 donations it would take to build the stadium? RV and his staff need a large amount of "seed money" before doing much more than they are currently doing...and they are moving forward. This is not like the weather when a storm gets anywhere near the area and the TV shows NOTHING but weather for six straight hours or the non-stop campaigning or the daily CRAP about gas prices...WE KNOW GAS IS HIGHT...for God's sake...find some real news! But, I digress...we should not expect daily or even monthly updates UNTIL at least 50% of the money is "in hand" and plans are actualyy set in motion...then and only then should anyone expect a Mean Green Club fund drive for stadium dollars. Besides, several members of this board will certainly find some reason that they were "snubbed or injured" and will be very vocal in their non-support with the checkbook. Count on that...you and I already know who they just might be too...as does anyone who has read this board on any regular basis... IT WILL HAPPEN...The Mean Green will have a new stadium....YOU GOTTA BELIEVE! GO MEAN GREEN!

Oklahoma State Offer Letter
KRAM1 replied to LongJim's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
LongJim...what's up with this? Didn't know that OSU was in your doghouse. What's the deal? I don't think they "stole" any signees from the Meamn Green lately either....anyway...pretty funny "letter" anyway...could you change it up to be ZERO U???? I would like that a lot more! -
Just Another Mavs Collapse?
KRAM1 replied to SUMG's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I certainly hope the Mavs win this series, BUT...does not look good with the way they have been giving up big leads time and time again this season...I am just not sure this team has the chemistry to go very far in the playoffs...can't say why not...I am not that big a fan to know...or really care...but I do hope the Mavs get it together...as the Stars did...in the first round...I would hate to see 1 and DONE again this year for the Mavs....some of the front line players are showing a bit of age...need to win soon or it's re-building (re-loading) time for the Mavs. No pro team in any sport..."re-builds" these days...they simply re-load! Good luck Mavs...looks like you could use a little luck! -
Texas Rangers
KRAM1 replied to NT03's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I should not even comment on the Rangers, but i do think this is a rebuilding year and I think .500 baseball would be a "home run" for the team and the fans...the stadium is not the problem with the Rangers, but it has shown to be a bit of an unfriendly place for pitchers....that being said...I go back to the earlier comment on this thread about Coors field! The Rangers problem...it seems to me...has always been one of ownership and management...not the stadium....but...what do I know about pro baseball other than it is not really my "thing". -
Nice JC pick-up for JJ and the team. Quincy certainly left a hole to fill, and this signing takes carre of at least part of the needs for UNT next season...way to go JJ. I think this will prove to be a good signing for UNT....GO MEAN GREEN....20+ wins again next season...I see it coming in my crystal ball! The NT ATh dept record of this signing shows him 6-7...not 6-6 with a shooters touch from within 15 feet away. Vitto's blog stated Arkansas Fort Smith will have a signing day this Thursday or Friday on the point NT recruited and others.

Travis Ford To Okie State
KRAM1 replied to SUMG's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Avatars aside...this is a good selection by OSU. Ford is a quality guy and an "up and coming" young coach. I hope the Cowboys respond to him...he seems MUCH more positive than Sean (or his Dad). OSU has a quality program...and a big time $$$$ guy backing the programs...For me...I hope to see OSU kicking some ZeroU rear ends in the next few yaers on the football field, BB court, Baseball diamong, wrestling mats, golf course, etc., etc., etc. Hey, a fella can dream, can't he? -
Way to go Cheer Team....We keep hearing about good things being accomplished by folks associated with UNT. This is great and the PR is worth its weight in gold. UNT is a great school its students shine in many areas. Well done Cheer Squad.

For some reason the really local kids don't get that much attention from UNT...maybe it's a two-way street...who knows...but, this kid is at least worth the effort to try...at least I think so...AND, maybe he has been contacted by UNT and re-buffed UNT's efforts. I recall when Kevin Henry was "all-everything" in Denton BB...Ryan grad...ended up going to NMex w/Dave Bliss and then following him to Baylor. No way, he would have looked at UNT even though he was in contact with UNT's coaches quite often and knew them well...my guess, he should have looked closer at UNT based on the way things ultimately worked out for him. You may also recall that UNT, on the football side, got little "attention" from all the Ryan players in recent years....maybe with the rise of Dodge-Ball UNT will not only put a bigger effort into local recruiting, but some of the better Denton players will "take a shine" to staying home and playing for the Mean Green. Maybe our new women's coach will look "close to home"...I'm just saying.....

2008 Dallas Cowboys Schedule
KRAM1 replied to SUMG's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Great Post Quoner....it's "off-point" as it has absolutely nothing to do with the price of tickets....I just prefer the college game to the over-hyped over paid pro-substitute. Like it or not...I'm a college sports fan 1st and a pro-fan second. Sorry that gives you cause to stress out! Keep on posting...it's good therepy for what ails one! -
I agree with bdan2002...except for that Obama button on his site! YUCK! OK ... just kidding...to each his/her own when it comes to politics, but I, too, think that things get a bit on the negative side on this board...and contrary to some sentiment, you can disagree on a board without getting so negative and critical...especially about "stuff" when you really don't know the inside details. It's one thing to disagree with a call or a substitution, etc. when you were at the game, but I would guess that close to 100% of the folks posting on this board were not involved in the BB coach interview process. As such, you really do not know who made the best impression, who had the ideas that "clicked", who had the positive outlook, etc., etc. Maybe just maybe, Coach Stephens wanted the job more and showed it! A won-loss record alone does not make one a good candidate for every school out there looking for a new head coach. Go ahead, disagree with the hire....but be civil about it. Coach Stephens IS UNT's new head women's BB coach...let's welcome her...give her a chance to "right the ship" and let's see if we can't do a better job of supporting women's BB at UNT while we are at it...if the fans don't care, and don't show they care...how can the fans expect to have a quality program? Just thinking.....Maybe if UNT gets the whole package going...good coach, good team....coach and team interaction with the student body and the community...and there are "rears in the seats" for the games....just maybe...just maybe it will be another step in the right direction...there have been lots of steps in the right direction lately...I am counting on this hire being another one! WELCOME TO UNT COACH STEPHENS!

History???? Say, what? You aren't old enough to know that much UNT history...I'll bet I have LIVED the history longer than you have even been able to spell North Texas! Ha! Just joking around...I liked the JJ hire...and, to me, it has turned out to be a pretty darn good hire for UNT...so, I think that is a point in my favor here about giving a new coach time to settle in and get the program going under their leadership BEFORE people start yapping about the hire! I can tell you that the folks actually making the decisions about such things are doing a tough job and looking to do the best for UNT. Just because there is something in your history that keeps you holding a grudge does not mean that the folks ae not doing a good job with what they are given to work with...Sure, I've been "snubbed" and I've been "ignored" and I've been "wrtiien off as a no body" by folks in charge from time to time...BUT, that does not mean that I withdraw my "fan status", my support and/or my participation from MY SCHOOL. Heck, there are very few D-1 schools in the country where folks at the level of many of folks donations even get close enough to the powers that be to "BE SNUBBED" in the first place...how much face time do you think you get with the AD at ZeroU for a $500 donation????? Heck, you don't even get a shot at sideline seats for football and/or basketball...much less the satisfaction of at least having the AD and his staff know who the heck you are! Come on......let's get behid this new coaching hire and let Coach Stephens know how glda we are to have her here at UNT! GO MEAN GREEN! It's a GREAT DAY to be a Mean Green fan!

2008 Dallas Cowboys Schedule
KRAM1 replied to SUMG's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
ONLY reason I need the Cowboys schedule is to see when the games will be on TV. Gonna spend my dollars at college games....love that college atmosphere and game much more than the pro scene...GO MEAN GREEN...see you at Fouts...at least until the new stadium is open in a couple of years! -
Nice win...way to go UNT soccer!

Sorry Pen Yan Fan, but from where I sit, it looks like your days of being a fan are pretty much over anyway. Why not try to see the positive in things...could work out real well for the program. hey, for me, I was not the biggest fan of hiring a football coach from the HS ranks...I wanted a proven winner at the college level...see, wrong, wrong, wrong...Coach Dodge is, in fact, the best hire for us...he's a quality coach and a quality person...and he will build a great program with quality players (both on and off the field and in the classroom). What makes YOU think Coach Stephens will not be the same type of coach for us? Give her that chance...man, she hasn't even been officially named coach as yet......WOW! Too many folks holding too many grudges for things long past and preceived currently.....let me let you in on a secret...the folks at UNT are trying to do a good job...sometimes there is more to the story than folks like us (looking in from the outside) understand. It is never as "balck and white" a decision as the "Monday morning QB's" think it might be.....lots and lots of things go into such a decision...and, guess what, sometimes it comes down to compromise when you are not the only "decision maker". Man, where would the Cubs and the Red Sox be with fans like some of the folks who post on this site?...I'm just saying..........
-
GIVE IT A REST...and give Stephens a solid chance....you may well be surprised even if you don't like the hire at this moment. I say, welcome Coach Stephens...let's get this program going in the right direction...GO MEAN GREEN!

WOW! Some of the folks on this site are really "challenged" to ever say or think in a positive way when it comes to decisions from the athletic dept. Too bad....I hope they do not get the personal "oversite" and "supervision" that the7y seem to want to give to those in cahrge at UNT. Come on...give it a bit of a rest here...and give Stephens a chance for goodness sakes. Could very well turn out to be a great hire for UNT....Yes, the team was going to have a female coach...no doubt about that...and based on some other "inside stuff" the hire was probably destined to be a minority female coach. SO WHAT???? Who cares??? Not me, I want the best coach we can get...and RV and his team...and those "supervising" this hire....found a good one in Coach Stephens. She has shown that she can coach (Rice) and she does have ties to the area for recruiting. Let's see if she gets out and sells her program to the locals in the DFW area, and gets on the recruiting trail.....great players make great coaches...recruiting is so very important when the roster size is as small as it is in BB. You "miss" on a couple of scholarship players and you are "toast"...you pick up one lke a Michael Beasley, a Shaq, LeBron, etc., etc. and you have your program made...at least for one year if it is the men...but probably longer on the women's side. I have not seen either of OU's Paris sisters leaving the program. Come on...some of you folks lighten up...I say, WELCOME COACH STEPHENS...and let's get on with the building of a solid women's BB program at UNT.

GREAT DAY...Good Crowd....UNT is moving forward...Need to make this an even bigger event next year with much more student involvement...great way to spend a Saturday afternoon watching a defense come "back alive" and showing some spunk...OK, so there were a couple of "questionable" late hits, etc. Coach DeL will work all that out...but DID YOU SEE IT????? UNT has a defense!!!!!! Can't wait to see them suit up fopr the REAL DEAL! Good to see everyone at the game...SUPER DAY!
