This looks like an excellent hire for UNT. Seems to me that the coaching staffs throughout the athletic dept. are getting some "upgrades" in recent years. Perhaps that is just another sign that good things are happening with UNT Athletics. I have said before...and will obviously say again...there is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON why UNT should not have a premier golf program. I hope this is the start of the "re-birth" of a once proud and successful UNT golf program for both the women and the men! GO MEAN GREEN!

Nice! I also think we will see a very balanced class this year...I, for one, hope to see a good many OL and DL types...need some "big ones" to protect out great QB's and to put the hurt on the opposing team RB's and QB's...heck, a passing game can't hurt you if the opposing QB doesn't have time to throw the darn ball in the first place! GO MEAN GREEN!

YOU GO DALLAS GREEN! -
Denton is a "fair" sports town...it's just dominated by two Universities whose faculty and staff are not big when it comes to attending and, it seems to me, that the student body should be represented at the games in much higher proportions than it is! Door to door sales won't get you a "full house"...why not spend time networking with student groups and local civic organizations? When was the last time our coaches and players ever really worked those two areas hard????? Yes, I know several faculty and staff members at UNT who have supported the programs at UNT for years and years with both their money and their talent, so I am not (at all) "talking" about those GREAT fans (and you definitely know who you are), but, as a percentage, faculty, staff and student body support is low...and has been for years. I wonder how UNT "stacks" up in that catagory against some of the other schools who ARE considered "big time"...liike say Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, Arkansas, etc., etc. Remember, I am talking on a percentage basis here...does anyone have any real facts and not just "I believes"? I admit my comments are of the "I believe" catagory...just observations from my many years in Denton and through my personal attendance observations. Just wondering. I know the percentage of UNT grads working on campus who are members of the UNT Exes/Alumni Assoc. is pretty darn low, so I figure it would carry over to the Mean Green Club, ticket sales, etc. Just wondering...anyone have any facts...and i wonder if the University has any plans to change that percentage level? I know faculty/staff get reduced prices for season tickets...seems like a nice incentive to me..

And, why did we start another thread on this topic when one is already going? OK, I guess it does get "buried" after a few days...see you at the Cookout! GO MEAN GREEN!

Texas State A D Dr. Larry Teis On Student Fees

Sad to be mentioned in this way.....BUT, the Mean Green faithful cannot stop supporting the program because someone points out the obvious "hole" in UNT's athletic funding program. Student Fees need to rise....it's just a fact...the sooner the better. I, for one, think Dr. B (she who must be obeyed) is well aware of this situation and is already "working on it". Remember, the stadium will be built by 2010...count on it! -
O.K., just to let the MEAN GREEN NATION know, there is a newly arrived kicker in the wings for the Mean Green. Jason Ball and his wife Crystal just announced the birth of their son, Austin Ball this last Sunday. Most of you know tjhat Jason was the kicker for UNT and now kicks for the Cleveland Gladiators of the Arena Football League. Anyway, got to see the young kicker on Monday and he's great! Crystal is doing great...and looking as great as ever...and Jason, well.....he's one proud papa! Congratulations to Jason and Crystal and WELCOME AUSTIN TO THE MEAN GREEN NATION!!!!! By the way, I'm getting Austin a soccer ball....for those of you who didn't know it, Jason was one heck of a soccer player from his younger years all the way through high school. He gave up the "beautiful game" for American football. Go figure! Ha! WELCOME AUSTIN!

Saw the interview...GREAT to see TD and UNT getting "air time"...not that impressed with Gina...OK, but still a "work in progress" as far as an on air interviewer in my opinion....TD DID look tired...hey, the man is working hard and long to get the season going!!!! Loved his comments about Riley...He's #5 and he has to earn his way up. He mentioned we had the top 4A and 5A QB's, so things looked good at QB...MY OPINION here....I would seriously consider a red-shirt year for Riley...but, that's just my opinion...TD is the head coach...it is 100% his call, and I trust "his call". Loved what he said about the pre-season ranking...basic comment...who cares??? We'll go to work and prove 'em wrong type of attitude! Stadium talk was GREAT, but in no way did he offer up any sort of whine or ultimatum...I thoght Gina got into this issue a bit quickly and was a bit "pushy" about it....hey, I think Gina is (or can be) the "real deal" and has a good career in front of her...so don't think I am ragging on her...I am not, just think she is not quite "prime time" ready as yet. I think we will see her progress well in her career. I'll keep watching. Anyway, good to see TD and UNT on TV...let's see more!!!!

Double Standard For Dodge Vs. Dickey

Zach T....if there really is a Zach T and Vito wasn't just trying to "spice it up" a bit...all I can say is PURE GARBAGE, Man, PURE GARBAGE!!!! You have NO CLUE what you are talking about. I know of no real UNT fan who has not discussed the need for a new stadium for many years. TD was in no way being critical nor was he blaming any losses on the stadium. I won't stoop to you level with the name calling, but just how closely realted to DD are you????? -

OK, but watch out..."they" always play nice before you marry them...then...BAM! The true colors come out after the wedding..."no I hate football, and if you go you know what you won't get tonight"....NO, I am not speaking from personal experience! Really...The Cookout is great fun...and there is beer and food...bring her along and get her drunk!

Just wondering...who on this board will be attending the Mean Green Kick-Off Picnic event on August 2nd? My wife and I will be there. Who else? Can't wait to hear from the coaches...especially our new defensive coordinator and head coach....should be a much better season than last even though I enjoyed the games last year a great deal...Who is going to come to the Kick-Off event? Should we have a GoMeanGreen.com "gathering spot"? ha!

Green Mean....much more attractive "targets" on the LPGA than Michelle Wie, but to each his (or her) own! Like I have said before...when you start culling you are way too old! I am not culling! -

As is said in the finasncial services world..."past performance is no guarantee of future results"...or something like that...seems to fit here a bit...maybe there should be some research on what is going on currently...I agree that the formula looks "fair", I jsut don't think that "formulas" always tell the whole story. -
A fine example of what's wrong with America and what's wrong with our government. American socity is made up of doers and takers. Guess which side these two belong on! They feel "entitled"......why should they work?????? Handouts for everyone!!!!!! Sounds like some of my friends on the left. This is a joke...why would this even be news????? Only in America...home of the "what's in it for me" left!

Espn's Basketball Prestige List
KRAM1 replied to e-bone ver2.awesome's topic in Mean Green Basketball
The ranking is CRAZY. No way UNT is behind some of the schools the listing has ahead of them. This just shows UNT needs to keep doing what it's doing to get respect and that is having winning seasons back to back to back to back with some wins against "known" schools such as last year's win against OSU! GO MEAN GREEN! BTW...I just renewed my basketball season tickets on-line this last weekend. Am looking forward to an exciting season...should be great...and, the women should be much improved too. This will be fun. GO GREEN!!!! -
And that bit of humor from a Judge no less! You may be on to something Greenjoe...can I ride with you?

Yes, I do understand the "it's all about the money" thing, but in this case Michelle Wie and her parenets are not low-income folks trying to eke out a living working three jobs and barely making ends meet. These folks have lots of CASH! Lots of other ways to boost tournament $$$$ and attendance without turning the thing into a circus. The Nationwide tour has done a great job of promoting itself and raising purse $$$$ without being a circus! And, where did I fault Michelle? I fault her parents and the tournaments....who are both using her for their own personal agendas. Like I said, she appears to me to have the skills to become on of the best female professional golfers EVER...but, at the rate she is going, I think there is an even chance that she "flames out" and becomes an "also ran". I hope not, but I think she is heading in that direction unless she gets that "biiger than life ego" of hers in check and her parents come to their senses. Poor they are not! In this case...while the $$$ is important...I think ego is the bigger motivator...styarting with her Dad! BTW, I do not recall Tiger EVER saying or acting this way when he was 17-18, etc. Say what you want about Tiger, like him or not, he spent some time winning at each level of his development BEFORE he went on the PGA tour! I think Tiger's dad and Mom were a bit more "grounded" and wanted Tiger to develop as a person as well as a great golfer..... Again, just me......let the different opinions flow.... -
Just wondering what folks might think about the idea that rising travel costs might cause athletic directors and schools to re-think conference affiliations???? It costs a "bunch" to send a football team "on the road" these days, and the cost of transportation, food, etc., etc. continues to rise "fast". What do you think?

Good things continue to happen. Nice to see the positive...it's out there. UNT is bulding a much better program and that is great to see...long overdue, but that, again, is the past...moving forward.......

KRAM1 replied to GoMeanGreen1999's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I am not "uset" with Michelle Wie...she has game...she just seems a bit "bold" in her own assessment of her game at this stage in her career. better to "do something" first, then tell the world you can compete again the best men in the world. Yes, the PGA and the tournaments should be responsible for this "circus"...and circus is what it is. If you want people to take you seriously, go out and compete AT YOUR LEVEL...win something and then "take on the next level". She still misses cut after cut (although did great in her last start until she forgot to sign her scorecard...that has happened to lots of folks on both the men's and women's tour...I'll bet she never forgets again!)...she has the game, but, in my opinion, her head is currently not in the "right" place to be taken seriously on the tour. The tournament folks should be ashamed of making a mockery out of the great sport of golf by allowing this circus to continue. I do hope she continues to develop her game...she could, one day, be one of the best ever...but, I'll predict a "flame out" if she continues to havemore ego than actual game and continues to talk more than play. I do wish her the best...her father, however, should be taken behind the barn for a good "old fashioned" rear-end whipping for allowing this to go on....he's probably promoting it as he sees only $$$$$$$...and not waht may be best in the long run for his daughter....prime example of a "Little League Dad" gone too far! Just me! -

KRAM1 replied to GoMeanGreen1999's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
At the minute Michelle Wie is a JOKE...pure and simple. She needs to win on the women's tour before she tries her hand on the men's tour. This is STUPID and nothing...nothing more than a PR stunt. The kid has game, but she is in no way ready to compete against the men. The best player in women's golf at the time, Abnika, gave it a try and had no success. Give me a break...does this mean that Tiger, Sergio, Justin, Phil, etc., etc. or some young and up and coming male should go play on the LPGA???? If women want to play on the men's tour let 'em tee it up at the same point and do awauy with the LPGA and let eveyone try their hand on one tour....I wonder how many would like to see that? Kind of like women's professional football..... Sorry, I love women's golf and I love to watch it...the ladies have game and they can darn sure play....but let's stop this "MIchelle Wie" playing against the men just for PR sake...that's all it is...plain and simple. OK, enough of my two-cents worth...just an opinion... -

At some point in life one must take responsibility for the decisions they have made. Ed, time to realize the decisions you made on what to do with all the money you have made are YOUR DECISIONS...good or bad. It may just be "responsibility time" for Ed!
