  1. Just repeating what the President of the University said....what would that guy know anyway? And, as I believe I stated...until dirt is turning...all plans remain in flux and subject to change. Going to have something inside that track oval...why not a soccer field that works for field events as well? It is certainly not just going to be dirt.
  2. 940 Area Code = Local Kid. NICE!
  3. How does one practice punting and kick offs in those flat roofed facilities? Seems special teams practices would need a good bit of modification. Lots of games won and lost on special teams play, yes?
  4. Hey, you folks want to see a fun basketball game? We'll have a bunch of folks squaring off on April 1st at 3pm at the UNT Volleyball court. If you want to meet some of your fellow GoMeanGreen.Com posters, come to the Seventh Annual Cheer Basketball Classic on April 1st and help us raise a few scholarship dollars for the UNT Cheer Team. Just click on this link for details: https://one.unt.edu/2017basketballclassic for all the details....you can sign up to play or make a donation to help these student-athletes, or simply get info on the event. Come have some fun watching a basketball game...no worries...no stress...just a bunch of fun. Plus, there will be a silent auction with some nice UNT related items along with other non-UNT items.
  5. Here is my understanding of the track/soccer facility based on what Dr. Smatresk said in a recent meeting I attended for the College of Arts & Sciences: the facility will be an outdoor facility and the soccer field portion, inside the track, is meant to be a practice facility for soccer. Soccer games to continue to be played where they currently are played. The new track facility is also to have offices built for track and field and soccer. Now, as always, much depends upon cost estimates and the ever changing attitudes, opinions, wants and needs of the athletic department and university. Until plans are completed and dirt is turned, all remains in flux. But, this is just another move by a university administration that finally "gets it" when it comes to what a "Tier One Athletic Program" can do for the university overall in terms of funding and enrollment.
  6. Reported crowd...3,360. Probably the biggest crowd of the year ... Fueled by the Communities In School promotion on campus. Showing once again that promotions can and do work. Sure, lots of free tickets given out, but also lots of kids in the concession stand lines. Perhaps one or two of the adult chaperones found enough to like to come back next season for a game or two or three. Interesting that yesterday they removed Keith Fraziers framed jersey from the senior day ceremony. He may have not been there early enough to participate, I don't know, but he was on the bench with his teammates for the game. No clue why he did not go on court to accept his framed jersey and autographed ball. I always enjoy being at the games where we celebrate our seniors. These student-athletes have a lot on their plates during their college years and the vast majority...by far the vast majority...have represented our university very well, both on and off the court and playing fields. Good luck to all our seniors!
  7. Sooooooo...Where have all the trash talkers gone? Anyone want to throw down a challenge?
  8. BUMP.... mighty quiet around these parts.
  9. Nope...because personnel and priorities do change.
  10. ARMY...SMU...and YOU PICK!

FOLKS...it is time for the TRASH TALKING TO BEGIN! AND...this is the thread for it! You are welcome to post here comments about your own playing skills or those of any other you wish! We could definitely use a few more players, and I promise that you will have a fun time! You can play as much or little as you wish as this game has free substitutions. By the way folks...we have added our 4th sponsor for our event...BRYAN WADDLE owner of CROSS TIMBERS EQUIPMENT has agreed to sponsor our event AGAIN this year. Bryan and Cross Timbers are long time multi-year sponsors. Obviously, we very much appreciate Bryan's generosity and support for this event and for our great student-athletes who make up the UNT Cheer Team! Thank you Bryan...thank you Cross Timbers Equipment!
  14. PLAYER FEE...DONATION SITE IS UP! Here's the link: https://one.unt.edu/2017basketballclassic Check it out...make a donation...pay your player fees and then send me a PM and let me know if you have any comments/suggestions as to how we might improve upon the site going forward. Appreciate the comments NOTE: DEADLINE FOR PLAYER SIGN-UPS IS: SATURDAY, MARCH 25th!!!!
  15. This is the site to utilize for player fee payments, donations, etc. Please let me know what you think after you utilize it. We are trying to fine tune this and make it easier to use for everyone going forward. Your help is greatly appreciated.
  16. So, what do you think of the state of the returning players UNT has on the court IF ALL STAY AT UNT for next season? Assuming everyone is again healthy, do we or do we not have a core of solid players returning....assuming all stay?
  17. I believe that is a horse not a pony. Most Texans know the difference.
  18. Come on...why would anyone want to go anywhere except by pony express? You know, you can reach the county seat in one days ride. No need to look anywhere else except where you can get one day on horseback. You know, anything worth looking at is within a day's horseback ride. Damn enablers!
  19. Grant Gilbert is "in the house" and will be playing! By the way folks...the registration/Donation site is up and has been verified as working correctly. That site is in a thread pinned to the top of this basketball section of GoMeanGreen.Com. If you have indicated that you are playing or if you would like to donate...any amount is appreciated...you can now use the link. Easy way to "get 'er done"!
  20. INDEED IT WILL SIR! All one needs to do is to enter your information correctly....which I did not on my first attempt in trying to make a donation myself...and you will receive a "thank you" from the site and an email from UNT Advancement acknowledging your donation. AND, every cent will go to the fund...no fees taken out like we dealt with when using PayPal or GoFundMe. Took a bit to get this site going, so a bit late getting going, but it is live now...I can tell you that from experience.
  21. NEW PLAYER ANNOUNCED: Grant Gilbert is in the house for the first time! Grant.UNT is joining us this year...thanks Grant and welcome aboard!
  22. So...you have personally seen the Oklahoma State Indoor facility and toured it? I have...it is NOT a glorified "horse arena". And, I was surprised that it was on the list as it cost way more than the numbers being thrown around for UNT's facility. If UNT steps up and builds one anywhere near as nice as OSU's it will be a HOME RUN! While at a game a year or so ago, a couple of their Advancement folks were heard to say....in talking about the newly opened facility..."Yea, we goy a nice large and significant (naming rights) donation to kick the campaign off, and then filled it in with a few small $5MM donations". Yep...$5million donation = small???? And, yes, I heard that comment! NOPE...not a "glorified horse arena". Indeed pleasantly! One reason they are flying around in this guy's plane is that he has indicated a willingness to make a sizeable contribution to this multi-sport indoor practice facility...AND to baseball. So, yep...pleasantly indeed!
  23. Folks, we now have a link and site up for player registration fees and donations for our Seventh Annual Cheer Fund-raiser basketball game! The good news is that no more fees come out for the site...every cent goes to scholarships and programs for these student-athletes. So, check out the site and let me know what you think? Every player/donor, etc. should now receive an official receipt for their registration/donations. Here you go: https://one.unt.edu/2017basketballclassic Our goal this year is reach a minimum of $7,000 - Seven for Seven! I will try to keep everyone posted on how we are doing toward that goal. With the sponsors we have so far we initially sit at about $1,100.00. So, hopefully, we are off and running. If you have indicated that you will be playing you can go to this site and pay your $35 entry fee or if you would like to donate to these student-athletes (any amount-any-is appreciated) you may do that here as well.
  24. I think you may be surprised to know the capabilities of this donor.
  25. Question....will we see Brice back next season?
