Went to Cabo recently for a wedding and visited Cabo Wabo more than once! Got a good "dose" of van Halen at Cabo Wabo...plus a pretty good "dose" or two or three of Cabo Wabo 'Ritas! Yummmmy...the drink of champions!

I thought solicitation was when someone stood on a corner somewhere and offered their "wares"!

As one might imagine, this young man is one excellent soccer player. I believe he has even worked with his age group's national team. Don't know about a football future, but he could play D-I soccer if he wanted. he is that good. Howver, Jaso ball was a very good soccer player too, and he ended up kicking for UNT. Hey, football players get full scholarships while soccer players usually get partials. So, if you want a full ride, better play football or basketball. I hope he does come to UNT and kick if he decides against palying the "beautiful game" of soccer.

Thanks for the effort to get the posters up around town. That's doing something positive to help. Way to go. Yes, the new Prez moved the Coach Dodge Show from Hooter's and, in my opinion, for no good reason at all. Hooter's is as much a "family atmosphere" as Sweetwater and this year's venue, the Pour House. I see as many kids and families in Hooter's as I do either of those two places. Maybe it's just because the Prez didn't want to have to wear that Hooter's outfit whne she went to the show. Oh, that's right, I don't recall seeing her at any of last year's broadcasts. Hmmmmmmm. Thanks to Hooter's and all the local merchants for allowing the posters in their businesses, and thanks to everyone for taking them to the mercahnts. BTW, did athletic dept. personnel help deliver posters around town. Just a question, just wondering. GO MEAN GREEN!!!

Just heard that wide receiver, Evan Fentriss from Southlake-Carroll did, in fact, give up football due to his knee injury. Coach Dodge had indicated that he thought Fentriss woulr return to the Mean Green, but, alas, such is not the case. Too bad. Good kid with a bunch of potential for the Mean Green. But, the silver lining in this cloud is that we do seem to have plenty of talented receivers on the squad and this will give another player the opportunity to shine. I am sorry for Fentriss as it must be very hard to give up a sport due to an injury. me, I just had to "retire" because I had no real talent! I certainly did not have to give it up due to an injury, at least the coaches said I'd make a great something, but it wouldn't be a football player! Go figure...at 5'9", 155lbs and slow as a turtle...you'd think someone would need that type of physical speciman. NOT!

The Business School has needed a new building aka "home" for quite some years. This is great news and WILL NOT impact the new stadium. By the way, just in case anyone has forgotten, UNT is an institution of "higher education" first! I know I can lose a little perspective on that from time to time as I get excited about some athletic program or event, but this is some very good news for the School of Business and will help UNT move to "top tier" status. This is good news. And, in the end will help draw new monies to the University. Nice, very nice!

That is NOT GOOD NEWS, at all! I wonder what the deal is here? Woods had the potential to be a player the whole team could build around for the next three years. Not good news at all...this IS certainly a loss for the program. I wonder if the reason "why" will ever be disclosed? BAD NEWS!

Hey, if you want to count simply population figures, "tiddly winks" and "pick up sticks" in India and Pakistan would be considered a "major" sport.

Even the cricket folks have found ways to spped up the game. Which is something that cannot be said for baseball. And, do you pl;ace cricket in the "major" sports catagory? Just wondering?

RV and Hank D. estimated about 600 at the evnt. MUCH better location and organization than last yer. The event was GREAT, and if you attended and did not enjoy it...it was your fault! This was a nice evening, and enough was said about the stadium to let everyone know it is on the way. Lots of "side talk" about how to fund it, etc., etc. Really enjoyed it, AND they let you pick up your tickets and Mean Green Club items early if you wanted. Like I said, really nice event!

And, once gain CUT! Shot an 80 in the second round with a 9 on one hole! Again took the spot of some young guy trying to make a living on the tour. This kid has game, but she is NOT going to be the top player on the LPGA tour UNLESS she gets her head and ego going in the same direction. What a circus she is, and her parents should be ashamed of themselves for continuing this circus. They should be giving her much better advice. I guess they are as "star struck" as any "little league parent" has ever been. Tragedy, simply a tragedy. This kid may never reach her potential if she keeps trying to play in men's tournaments. She couldn't even make the cut in a second tier event when the big guns on the men's tour were playing elsewhere. This CRAP with Michelle Wie needs to stop and it needs to stop NOW! I hope no other men's tournament gives her a place. Good grief!

Just another of the long list of young athletes who have been given a "free ride", have big egos and little or no brains. If this kid doesn't learn from this we'll see him in jail before too long. Maybe this will be a wake-up call for this kid, and he will get his act together before it is too late. Some D-1 program will pick him up, but that's too bad as it will not help straighten his act out. It will just strengthen the "take, take, take...the world owes me because I am a star athlete" attitude. The kid is walking the wrong path right now. Let's all hope he gets headed in the right direction soon. As one who had no athletic talent, but loves sports and played a little baseball and football in HS, I cannot imagine why a kid with this level of talent would try to throw it all away. So far, he's throwing it away pretty fast!

No other "major" sport in the world is as slow paced as baseball. No one who is even remotely interested in sports can deny that. Unless, of course, you are simply NUTS!

I'm in for 6 wins this season...5 would be OK, but i think UNT can get 6 wins. Whatever happens it wil be nice to see a defense on the field this season...OK, let's just say a better defense. GO MEAN GREEN!

As I recall...food is free, but if you wanted a beer (or wine, I think they had wine) you had to pay for that...food lines were really LONG...my wife and I are going to eat before we go and just enjoy a few beers at the event. I hope they have "fixed" the food line mess for ths year...See you there!

By the way...Frisco Park was sold out when Beckham played there last weekend. Where ever he plays the home team is sold out. But, I do agree, that his "splash" has been less than expected by several folks (don't count me in that crowd. I felt like he would help, but would not make soccer in the US the sport it is in the majority of the rest of the world). You got to be honest and realistic about it, but he has made a positive impact on the game in the US. US born players are getting much more of a "look" these days by the bigger European Clubs and there are many more US born players playing on 1st division clubs throughout Europe these days. Not as many in Central and South America, but operhaps that will come too over time. The North American game is not as well suited to the style of play in Central and South America. It is much more akin to the Europen style, so more US born players are given opportunities in Europe right now that Latin America. If you watched any of Euro '08 recently you had to be impressed with the excitement generated in the games. Scoring was good, even for an American Football crowd who still thinks giving 6 points for a TD makes it high scoring, and many of the games featured some pretty "rough and tumble" play proving once again that soccer is definitely a contact sport. There, I think I have successfully hijacked this baseball thread and turned it into a discussion of the merits of soccer once again. You guys are so easy!

No way Access 1st capital could be a title sponsor to the stadium. bank is too new and has too little capital to do such things at this point. I am sure ownership, of which Randy Robinson is part, would liike to see the bank get profital and stable as a new institution before stepping out with such a large donation and commitment. I am sure, however, that Access 1st capital will be a good corporate citizen to/for UNT. I welcome their support at whatever level they are able at this point in their development. Welcome aboard and thanks for doing what you are currently doing for UNT.
