Remember That Time
KRAM1 replied to Quoner's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I saw that "Mavrick" sign during the sppech last evening and just had to laugh. Was pretty funny. Also enjoyed the "protesters" and McCain's respone to them. 'Tis the funny season after all. -
Intruders Shot
KRAM1 replied to Smitty's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
GREAT NEWS!!!! Got to love that the "bad guys" got what they deserved. And, no trial and no jail for one of the "bad" guys to soak up more tax dollars. YIPPEE! -
You folks are too much. You just gotta laugh. Texas is a RED STATE...it's going to be a red state in the November election. If you want to try to "influence votes or argue truths" one way or the other, I suggest it happen in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida or one of the other "battleground" states as TEXAS ain't one! Thanks for small favors. That means we won't have to endure quite as many "attack" ads on TV and radio. How very lucky for us. No way any one on this board is going to change anyone's mind about their vote in Nov. You are either for big government getting bigger or you aren't. Vote 'em as you see 'em! Try to keep it friendly here...remember, we are all members of the Mean Green Nation. But, you got to admit that naughty librarian look is pretty hot! Now, there's a reason to vote one way or the other! GO MEAN GREEN...best news is that we have only about 61 more days to suffer through all this campaign "stuff". Just VOTE!

Welcome and good luck with that astro thing. I'll look forward to seeing the UNT flag on the moon one of these days. By the way.....are you a member of the Exes/Alumni Assoc.? Mean Green Club? As a season ticket holder I know you are both a fan and a supporter of the program. Great to have you on GMG.Com....jump on in, the ater's fine!

Could The Wac Be Looking To Move Back Into Texas?
KRAM1 replied to UNTflyer's topic in Mean Green Football
I like the fact that it could be possible to play a schedule with more of a "local" flavor where fans could more easily travel to away games. Both our fans and the other team's fans. Makes for fuller stadiums and a much better game day atmosphere. Who knows might even be able to add interest. Because, sorry it may just be me, but I find it very hard to work up any real "rival battle" attitude for the SBC teams we play. Yes, it's game day and that is all that matters, but it sure is a bunch more fun when you have someone to "love to beat"-like OSU loves to beat OU and all that. See you at FOUTS SATURDAY! BEAT TULSA!!!!! -
OK, here we go...I am an OK State grad also...OK State and it's fans are in no way content to go 7-5 every year and play in a "minor bowl" game. Come on,. if that were the case the "old billionaire" would not be sending in his $$$$ to help the program get to where it can beat ZERO U on a somewhat regular basis. OSU is a bit like TTech and several "other" program around the country. It is not THE UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA and has not had the same funding support through the years for its football prgram. But BB, Wrestling, Golf, etc. have been BIG TIME at OSU for many years on a fairly regular basis. Athletic Dept. $$$ went where they could. Part of the "challenge" has been to recruit and hang on to big time coaches such as Jimmy Johnson, Les Miles, etc., etc. They do a good job at OSU and then a higher profile program lures them away with bigger $$$$. This may just be where Pickens' $$$ help a great deal. Take a look at Nebraska...what happened to them when their long-time winning coach retired????? Coaches can and do make a difference (UNT should take notice as this could very well happen to Dodge once he turns the program into a winning program...and he WILL). The Big XII South is a tough conference division. If OSU were in the North, I think the record may well have been better the last few years. But, bring 'em on...yoou play the best, you get better. OK, we'll see about that one. Just think what OSU's record might have been if they had been able to hold on to some 4th quarter leads the last couple of years. That speaks to several issues...not the least of which is depth late in the game. That "challenge" seems to finally be getting resolved at OSU. So, no OSU fans are not "OK" with 7-5, but I'd bet there are plenty of programs out there whose fans would love to see 7-5 and a bowl game. Know any local ones???? I will end with GO MEAN GREEN!

OUCH...NCMeanGreen...love the AVATAR...Screaming Eagles...in fact I saw that emblem on a gate in Normany, France a couple of years ago...great to see, especially in France...but, to your question... NOPE...WAY too early to push any panic button. Lot's of today's big time winners as coaches struggled getting out of the door to start programs. This program was in need of a "new focus" and it will take a bit of time. I, too, would love to WIN NOW. But, simply ios not going to happen. Sherman is a good coach for A&M, but he took one in the gut this weekend and I am sure some folks are posting the same sort of stuff right now. UNT has got to re-build and re-load. Remember, while Dodge is and was a WINNER, this is his firsy head coaching gig! I, for one, think he is doing just fine and I was one who, at first, was not over joyed in the hire of a HS Coach for UNT. I do believe Dodge is the answer for UNT over the next several years and I think one day, you will be posting how bad it will be should Dodge take that job at BIG TIME U that is being bantered about in the media. Just "cool your jets" and give it some time...no excuses, no whining. I agree 100% with that. I know yo are not bashing Dodge or calling for any kind of "win or else" stuff. It's a decent and a good question...just way too early for that in my opinion. There are others, of course, who have a different opinion. Come on in.....

EageD...you should look up my nephew and his wife down there in the "People's Republic of Austin". You guys sound so very much alike. Guys a public school teacher (7th grade Texas history) and is a SUPER teacher. I wish my kids had every teacher just like him. Although his politics are much like yours appear to be, he doesn't let that spill over into his teaching. Very good, very dedicated teacher. He's a UNT grad too...so look him up...send me a PM if you want contact info. Guy is married with a little guy about 6 and a new baby girl. Wife is great too...nice folks, love Austin, etc., etc. Glad you guys are in Austin and not in a "swing state"...Texas is a RED State and will be a RED State after the November election...so, go ahead...vote away! You guys can get together and ahve a beer or two at the Texas Chili parlor and bash those mean ole Republicans who are trying to allow you to run your own lives without BIG Government taking all your hard earned dollars and trying to keep the returns on your 401K and 403B's depressed with all the taxes they want to levy on Big Business. Gee, guess what happens when Big Business gets taxed? Thompson had something to say about tbat last night at the RNC Convention. Did you catch it? In case you didn't...those taxes added to big business to "punish them for the greedy ways" end up making your food bill, gasoline bill, etc, etc, higher. Let me know, and I'll hook you up with a great guy down in Austin and another member of the Mean Green nation...although I don't know if he's a big football fan. You just have to overlook that liberal stuff with the guy. Too much more to like! He might just be a "closet" Liberterian as he was a Ron Paul guy at heart!

Mccain's Vp: Sarah Palin
KRAM1 replied to FirefightnRick's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
John Denver...the question came from a CNN reporter. Look it up. The reason you have not heard about it is because it came from a Left-Leaning news outlet and not Fox or some other "conservative" leaning show/broadcast. No "chip" here, just the facts ma'am...to give credit to Sgt Joe Friday on "Dragnet"...just the facts ma'am, nothing but the factes. In this case, you can look it up if you would like... And, by the way...who said her husband would need or could to stay home with the kid? Unless, of course, you meant as "Mr. First Lady" he could take care of the kids in the VP's hose in DC? That, of course, assumes he wants to give up his commercial fishing business while Mrs. Palin is VP. I guess we'll see about that. He may just stay in Alaska with the kids or with some or none of the kids or re-locate to DC. We'll know all those answers once MaCain and Palin win the election. Hey, with the Eskimo vote and the two electoral votes from Alaska, It's in the bag. Right? Obama can give up now! -
Thanks, Harry, very nice, but where the heck is it? Clicked on the link...yep, it's there, but signed off, came back and couldn't find it. Not real "hi-tech", so need some assistance. Thanks. GREAT IDEA for the Ticket Exchange, Smitty. Hopefully it will help get tickets in folks hands that need them and can go or take others to the games. UNT needs "rears in the seats" along wityh season ticket buyers. Go get 'em Mean Green Nation...take friends to the game. Heck, they might enjoy it enough to start buying their own tickets.

Mccain's Vp: Sarah Palin
KRAM1 replied to FirefightnRick's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Question. How much bloody hell do you think a Republican would get if he/she questioned a Democrat's ability to serve due to the fact they had a "special needs" child? If you are honest, you would see the media and the Dems all over them for a "mean spirited and insensitive" comment. So, where's the fallout over the thought when it comes from the left? And, yes, CNN is "left"...what if a Fox reporter made the comment? And, Quoner, well, I'll just leave that one alone. -
Yea, those DEA guys are tricky like that...cuaght me...let me rephrase and type a bit slower....Bring FRIENDS...even if you have to go to Sweden to get them".
-
QUONER...might I remind you that Texas A&M was a BIG favorite over Ark. State...UNT? Not so much over K-State. That does make a bit of difference in how one views the outcome of the respective games. But, just in my opinion. Greenminer. You calling Dodge out? Or else what (as they used to say on the playground)?

IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN...IT IS HAPPENING!!!!

WOW..."good Golly Miss Molly"....how fast the "faithful" can turn!!!!! Come on folks, if you have spent ANY time at all around Coach Dodge you know there is no "give up" in him and no "give up" in his teams. I would imagine that "what he said is not what you heard"....maybe he was a little too into the Coach-speak for some, but if you thought UNT was going into K-St-ville and win that game, you were simply miostaken. Yes, UNT will pull the big upset one of these days (aka Ark. State, etc.), but not yet. Now, faithful...spell with me here...R-E-B-U-I-L-D-I-N-G!!!! I hate to let you in on the secret, but there will be no SBC crown under the Mean Green's Tree this Christmas, but there will be all kinds of nicely wrapped "goodies" in the way "improvements" over last season. GOOD GRIEF...it was the "cash cow" opener and UNT got beat. So be it...get over it and remember that we could be TX A&M fans! Bad game, bad outcome...GRANTED...went Dickey-like conservative to keep the score down (maybe)...I get it. SO WHAT! Let's see how the season goes and look for the overall improvements that are coming. Remember, Dodge has not even had time to "stock-up" with his "own guys" as yet, and just now has a defensive coordinator that can match the creativity of the offensive side of the ball. Oh, Come all Ye faithful.........See you at Fouts...GO MEAN GREEN!
-
OK, just send me a PM if you want to reply....my wife works at UNT and their dept. has two "visiting scholars" from Sweden. I do not believe that either has been to an "American" football game...least not here in the States. They can't be "bad guys" as one made sure the car he rented was a RED PICK-UP!!!! Anyway, we want to take them to the game Saturday against Tulsa...so, if you are not planning on using your tickets, we can make certain that two are put to good use. We are also going to make sure they come as our guests to the Exes/Alumni Party pre-game and get to walk around the tailgate area pre-game. Want then to see and experience all they can as they will only be here for two weeks. Let me know if you have "extras"...thanks. Gotta do what we can to FILL FOUTS....Bring firebds...even if you have to go to Sweden to get them. KRAM1
-
Great to hear that student support is growing...let's hope for a big turnout. I am optimistic that we will see at least 25,000 including the Tulsa fans. See you at Fouts...FILL FOUTS...GO MEAN GREEN...FOOTBALL IS BACK!!!!!!
-
Who cares where this kid went? If not UNT then who cares? Funny, however, that he ended up in Florida where he may just "sit" for an extended period. Go figure young athletes? Often their heads seem "in the clouds" or stuck up some other part of the collectice anatomy's.
-
Tasty, are you really that negative about the program? Hope not. I do not see any "roll over and quit" in the Mean Green under Coach Dodge.
-
So, what does everyone think the attendance will be for Saturday's home opener? I hope we get 20,000 plus. That would sem to be a decent crowd given where UNT has been drawing the last year or so. Does anyone have any idea about student attendance? Anyone attend the Dog Pound T-Shirt exchange or has that happened as yet? I don't recall the date, may be later this week. But, does nayone know if there is any "cahtter" about the game in the dorms, frat and sorority houses, campus organizations, Talons, etc., etc.? If we get a good student turnout this could be a great opening attendance game... And, how many of this board will be at Fouts Saturday. My bride and I will be there, and we'll be there early for the pre-game fun! Can't wait... FILL FOUTS FIELD!!!!! GO MEAN GREEN!
-
Nope...just idiots who have no clue about much of anything. I'll bet if you sat one of them down and engaged him/her in a sane and rational discussion about the issues he/she is protesting, the "protester" would have very little if any answers except to spout out some tried and true anti-war slogans from the 60's, some media re-hash and whatever unsupported quote he/she can come up with that sounds "anti-establishment". These folks usually have very little if anything to add to any sane conversation. All emotions. Sad!
-
They should simply be called "IDIOTS"! What part of absolutely STUPID do they not understand? Who the heck do they think has to pay to fix all the damage done during their "peaceful protest march"? Do these sort of "I don't know how to think for myself" folks have any real jobs or real responsibilities? Where the heck do these nut cases come from? I have no problem with folks "protesting" the war, but to go to this level of "nutsville" in their actions is nothing but the "herd mentality" taking over and dragging a bunch of "sheep" with it! I would imagine that less the 50% of the nut caes even vote! I am disgusted with this type of "protest" and with the folks who "go along". Get a life and get some respect and responsibility while you are at it! GOOD GRIEF!
