All the best for a speedy recovery...had my appendix taken out at age 9...haven't missed the darn thing a bit. Glad you are doing better! Keep doing better! -
It just takes time to turn these programs around...TD needs support and he needs time. In my opinion, he has both, but several folks need to see the positives that are happening and not always the negative. We all want to win NOW, but, unfortunately, that takes players we just don't have as yet. The guys we have are working hard and making progress and when they have some additional experience they might just be the guys we need. In the meantime, Coach Dodge will bring in new players and coaches to help take this program to the next level. Things are looking better all the time, and I haven't even put on my "rose colored glasses" as yet! GO MEAN GREEN!

And, I have said this on this board before and will say it again, Todd Dodge is a damn good coach and will get UNT's program turned around. GO MEAN GREEN....BUY SEASON TICKETS...GO TO THE GAMES.....JOIN THE MEAN GREEN CLUB...JOIN THE EXES/ALUMNI ASSOC.!!!!!

Lehman Bors. Holding
KRAM1 replied to EagleD's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
This is a VERY BIG DEAL. Sounds like a chapter 11, but I would imagine it heads to a 7 soon enough if not from the start. Looks like the gov. will not step in like they did with the Bear Sterns deal...good! The Merrill Lynch and AIG situations will help make for a most "interesting" opening to the markets this morning and good bit of "challenges" for the financial markets as a whole the next few days. I hope this is just another step in the Wall St. "clean up" that certainly was a bit overdue. Hold tight, the US financial system is sound and I think folks will be rewarded in the long term for not pushing the panic button. So much of the problems are drive by psychology as well as actual financial stress. If the media was "turned off" for a week I would imagine that a lot of this would pass without too much trouble...I know, I know....but still you have to wonder how much of this is due to the psychological impact? Interesting, wouldn't you say? Too bad for the folks at Lehman...that firm was a solid contributor to the US markets for many many years...I think over 180 years or something like that. Amazing how things develop and adjust and the markets keep on going. Just shows how truly sound the US financial system is over the long haul. Hold tight the next few days, might be a bit of a rocky roller-coaster ride. If you have a long-term horizon might just be a great time to add to your positions...hey, everything is on sale at a discount. Sort of like Macy's Red Apple Sales days....go get 'em! -
From the Dallas Morning news, Sunday, Sept. 14th: "FAMILY'S PIT BULLS BURST INTO HOUSE, KILL BABY" Nice little family pets, yea right! The story line out of Las Vegas, Nevada reads like a horror movie script. I quote the paper; "A family's two pit bulls burst into the house from the back yard to attack a 4-month old girl, mauling her to death even as her grandmother tried to escape with the baby into another room, police said". "The dogs apparantly entered the home in North Las vegas by bursting through a screen door and started attacking the baby in her stroller, police said". VERY NICE...can ANYONE...anyone defend these animals as family pets???? You have to be absolutely out of your mind to keep these killers around! Just another very sad story where someone has no clue what they are doing by keeping these killers around. I think the owners should get jail time along with one big fine for this...but jail time should be given and it should be served.

Saw some good things...many have already been commented on here, so I'll just say UNT looked better than I anticipated against last season's BCS Champ. And, just what did you expect would happen? Come on, it was LSU not SMU!!!! I do, however, agree with the special teams comments...special teams is not so special and some work needs to be done. This aspect of UNT's game is not at all where it needs to be NOW!

I still can't figure out why he is even playing... As far as the pick goes...so what? The kid can play!

This Is An Opinion Forum? From Now On I Will
KRAM1 replied to Green Grenade II's topic in Mean Green Football
WHY??????? We all get our chops "busted" from time to time. This is all fun...just have to take it in the vain of we are all MEAN GREEN FANS and part of the Mean Green nation. So, give it a rest for a day or two and get to feeling better, but don't leave! Or did I read this all wrong??? -
OK, I know some folks on the board are not at all concerned about this, and I was not too worked up over it until this morning when i opened my DMS sports section and found ABSOLUTELY NO MENTION OF NORTH TEXAS and the LSU game. Come on, what the heck is up with that? Yes, the sports section is going from very good to mediocre and probably lower than that soon, but to not even mention UNT???? What gives? Thirty five thousand students, many thousands of grads and/or "former students" in the DMN coverage area, and not a mention? OK, just had to vent a little....

KRAM1 replied to untbowler's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Real Rock???? Metallica real rock? Not so much...now..."Hard Metal Rock"...I give you that. OK, don't hurt me, I am showing my age here...whatever flots your boat when it comes to music is more than fine with me...you want good Rock? Where's the BIG CHILL when you need it! -
Yes, the under 21 crowd can attend and eat and drink (the non-adult beverages) at the Pourhouse...great place to gather...good food, cold drinks and friends of UNT and the Mean Green. What more could you ask for? OK, $2.00 drafts once in awhile would be nice....just thinking...that's because I like to have several during a game and the cost adds up! Just having fun. GO MEAN GREEN!

Glen Beck Article
KRAM1 replied to e-bone ver2.awesome's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Quoner. Don't worry you'll figure it all out one of these days. And, when you do, please let us all know. You can start by picking up a copy of Grover Cleveland's new book "Leave Us Alone". Good read..you, like I, may not agree with everything he says, but the guy backs up what he is talking about with references you can actually check out. I did that very thing a couple of times. Happy reading. -
Oil Drops Below $100
KRAM1 replied to UNTflyer's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
can you say "supply and demand"? Gasoline stores are down and demand is up. Seems pretty classic case of supply and demand to me, but IT STILL HURTS that the price of oil continues to drop and the price of gasoline rises. Just sucks as a consumer, but I think the price of gas will drop in the near future. Ain't economics great? You gotta love it! -
So, when do you think UNT will be posting its schedule? Would be nice to have that in hand soon.

BRING BACK THE CHINESE BANDITS from the glory days of LSU's past!

I like the idea of "winning now" and playing your best players...so that means we win 7 games this year because Riley plays! Great, count me in! Folks, it "ain't like basketball" where one great player can take you to the "promised land" of year in year out bowl games and conference championships. The one thing I agree with, and think I mentioned in my previous post on this subject, I believe Coach Dodge knows what he is doing. So, I leave it in his very capable hands. GO MEAN GREEN!

I hope the athletic dept. is doing what it can to get out the student-athlete vote. With it proposed for $10.00/hr. may will see that as a real burden on UNT's student body without doing any real "comparison shopping" regarding what other universities in this situation charge. Thanks for all the good work on this issue UNTFlyer and keep 'em coming. NICE JOB!

The 2008 Texas Rangers
KRAM1 replied to Green Mean's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
FLASH... US Downs Trinidad and Tobago 21-0 in a World Cup qualifying game. High scoring affair to make all the US baseball fans happy! By the way...World Cup, you know, where a REAL WORLD CHAMPION is crowned rather than an American champion ala the "world"...not so much Series. At least soccer knows what "World" means. GO RANGERS...another great exciting game ending with the usual result. Hey, that Taylor Teagarden kid can play. He is the Ranger #1 cather next year. I guess Laird better just get used to the idea. Too bad, I like Laird too. Good guy...good work with what little pitching Texas has... -
Awwww...vince Young Is Sad
KRAM1 replied to emmitt01's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
So, who the heck gives a crap about either VY or MV????? If VY is "hurt" because of the booing, get over it! You get paid a ton of $$$$ to play a game...buckle up Mr. Fragile Ego and play the game. He plays for Tennessee where they have a bunch of "who's) surrounding him. He has all the talent in the world. Get over it and play the GAME. But, I say again...who cares? -
Nice article. Glad to see it in the Daily. Thanks for posting it. The "youngsters" have a bit of a way to go in adjusting to the college game, but they, as this article points out in one specific case, are "adjusting" pretty well. Guess what else? All seem to be good students too. I doubt that the soccer program will have any "graduation" and/or "academic" progress problems. Way to go SOCCER!!!!!

Just FYI...I believe Steve Selby has retired and is no longer managing the Super Pit. I do not know if he is still involved with the Sports Commission in Denton.
