Interesting, but perhaps not the best of ideas...buying votes...Hmmmmmmm...ACORN at work perhaps? I share the passion for wanting the vote to pass...it simply MUST...but, let's not do anything to appear like those who are opposed to the stadium who go out and harrass students for votes and destroy "yes" signs, etc. Better to use the "beer" thing with coeds....much better odds of winning!

Yes, focusness is where it's AT!

Scenes From Campus - "no" Group Activity
KRAM1 replied to CaribbeanGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
Reminds me of what is happening to McCain/Palin yard signs. It is really a shame when people do this sort of thing...maybe they are members of ACORN or want-a-be ACORN members. I'll bet I know who these folks are or would like to vote for in race for president! SHAME ON THE FOLKS DOING THIS STUFF. Vote the way you want on the stadium issue...for whichever candidate in the presidential race you want, but do it with respect for the "other" side and in a manner you and everyone else can be proud of for the long run. AMAZING STUFF, but given the political atmosphere these days, I am not at all surprised. VOTE YES FOR THE STADIUM....GO MEAN GREEN! -
Want to meet and greet Johnny and Shanice? Then come on out and enjoy an OCT. 30th Denton Chapter Alumni "gathering" at the Exes/Alumni Center beginning at 6:30PM. Both Johnny and Shanice will be on hand to talk about the fast approaching seasons and there will be drinks and snacks.....should be a fun Halloween Eve at the Exes center on the 30th. COME ON DOWN!!!!!

Quoner...have you changed????? When have you ever NOT jumped right in with a "stupid and obnoxious point"?????? OK, couldn't resist that...you left yourself open for that one...JUST KIDDING!!!!!! -
SAD state of affairs when some of the "so called" faithful have "given up" so early and so easily on Coach Dodge. While I agree 100% that the performance has been way less than desired on the field so far this season, I am in no way ready to even think about changing head coaches! I agree with many of the comments on this subject...both pro and con...as there seems to me to be some "truth" in all of them. But, for gosh sakes, give the staff and head coach some time to get this thing turned around before "giving up". This is the time to show your support...not saying you should agree with Coach Dodge or sing his praises, just saying that the Mean Green Nation needs to rally around this team while it does go through a really tough time. Just how do you think the players feel about being ranked as the "worse" college team in D-I right now? Do you think THEY Believe the rankings? I don't. Yes, Coach Dodge needs to step up and admit that there are some things he needs to figure out about the college game, and he needs to look at "what and how" things need to be changed...and, my guess, he might need to listen to his coaches a bit more....BUT, this team and this coaching staff is OUR team and our staff. And, the head coach needs to be given the time (3-4 years) to get HIS program, his players and his coaches in place and working like a D-I program. I think that will get done...but...time, folks, time. Seems to me the "I got to have it now" folks are beginning to sing the surrender song way too early. Too bad and so very sad. But, you pay your two cents, you get to say what you want. I have no problem with that. Just seems sad to me! See you at Fouts for the next game! GO MEAN GREEN.......

Wow, here we are in the divisional playoffs and there certainly isn't much baseball "cahtter" on the board these days. Just where are all the baseball folks on GMG.COM???? From all the UNT needs baseball stuff that was written a bit ago, I would have thought you basball fans would be all over the board. What, no interest? Just wondering. I know, you have all turned to soccer for a more exciting sport to watch, right?

Romo Out For A Month
KRAM1 replied to UNTflyer's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Johnson should be able to win as many in the last three that the Romo led Cowboys have...what? I think that's 1-2, isn't it? I can't see where there will be much change. Anyone else think Romo is in a sophomore slump????? It really is just his soph. year. He will be a GREAT ONE before all is said and done with his career, but so far this year...not so much. NO FIRE IN THIS TEAM AT ALL. Can't figure this team out, but then, it is pro sports, so all in all...WHO CARES???? Ha! -
GO UNT SOCCER!!!!! Nice job...looking good with all remaining games at home. Get out and support the Mean Green Soccer Team!!!!! Nice job ladies!!!!!

Well, I was encouraged by what I saw in afew areas, but defense (especially the D-back area) still needs a bunch of work as do the special teams. Offense had its moments, but too few and too far between. Now, overall, I was also encouraged by the student turnout after an 0-5 start....after some time the student side looked pretty darn decent...can't say the same for the area around where I sit on the pressbox side. Too many empty seats. If you can't make it to the game...give your tickets to someone who will be able to make it to the game. My wife and I had a great Saturday afternoon and evening with the Mean Green nation. Tailgate area was great, weather was great...and the football was...well, it was college football. I'll be there fior the next game too...GO MEAN GREEN!!!!!

Soccer appreciates the support you guys give it...as does volleyball, football, basketball (coming soon for the Pound)...thanks for what you are doing and trying to do to raise the level of support for UNT. What some folks don't seem to realize is that the more you are involved in such things at your university the more fun you will have and the better memories you will have of some of the very best years of one's life. Thanks for the support...keep it going and keep it growing!

Green P1...your reference to "guns up" in the Big XII South this year...I assume you were referring to Oklahoma State University, right?????? Not that Tech thing in Lubbock.....

Harvard Gets $125 Million, Record-high Individual Donation
KRAM1 replied to gangrene's topic in Mean Green Football
Just received my current issue of the Oklahoma State Alumni magazine last evening...featured article about several folks giving lots of $$$$$ to OSU starting with Boone Pickens additional $100,000,000 gift folloed by a $57+ million from another couple...featured articles about Garth Brooks (yes, the Garth Brooks) who is a donar and a proud alum (so where are all those UNT music school types that have made it big?????)...and, get this...the State of Oklahoma is matching the donations $ for $!!!!! YIKES!!!! That gives OSU another $300million +!!!! GOOD for my "other" university, but it saddens me to never see this kind of support for UNT. If I had it,yyou would darn sure see it!!!!! IT starts with the University treating its students well...more like "clients" than "pests" as I was treated as an undergrad at UNT. Boy, what a difference it was the first day I stepped on the OSU campus after completing my undergrad at UNT. I thought ALL universities treated their students like CRAP (as UNT did at the time)...was I ever wrong! What a contarst in styles from the President's Office down to the Union staff!!!! OSU was and IS there for the student. Building loyalty and the "want" to give back to YOUR university starts on DAY ONE as a freshman. In the past UNT saw students as a Passing Through Pest and treated them that way...I know, I was there.....but, thanks goodness that is changing and has been for several years...still a way to go to get even close to an OSU-like appreciation for students, but it is going in the positive direction...and, I believe itt will continue to do so... Oh, by the way...the students at OSU recently "TAXED THEMSELVES" to the tune of about $43million in new fees to help add on to the Student Union Complex! That, after already having much higher student athletic fees than UNT!!!!! Gee, go figure...student WANTING to help the University get better!!!!! FOLKS, it starts NOW...with support from Alumni and friends of UNT. Progress is being made at UNT in building loyalty with students, townies, faculty, staff, etc., etc. But, you can't get there if all you want to do is gripe about this program or that program this team or that team this fee or that fee. YOU HAVE to see the big picture. UNT, for way too long, has been a "little picture" university. That is cahnging, but it takes time. Get with it and help...STAY POSITIVE and support YOUR UNIVERSITY. It is much more enjoyable to be PART OF THE SOLUTION rather than PART OF THE PROBLEM. Compalining about eveything all the time DOES NOT HELP! GO MEAN GREEN!!!!! -
My wife and I will be there...EARLY to enjoy the festivities...will go to the Alumni Tailgate area, will watch the "Walk" by the team, drink a little beer...eat some good "grub", head into the stadium...go to the "drunk tank" for a visit...and another beer or two...talk to other members of the MEAN GREEN NATION...and watch some college football...AND THE FIRST MEAN GREEN WIN of the season on a great fall weekend evening. Don't know how it could get much better than that! With the win and all...... GO MEAN GREEN...FILL FOUTS THIS WEEKEND...Let's all show our support for this team, it's players and coaching staff. They all represent YOUR UNIVERSITY and they ARE working hard to try to make you proud! Win or lose...I stand behind the MEAN GREEN! I hope you do too!

What would you have expected to come from the NT Daily? This is just another example of the press at all levels in today's world. Right or wrong it's what we have...reporters and papers publishing what they "think" instead of what the reality of a situation really is. IT's just one of many opinions...leave it at that. Sad that UNT is in such a position. Absolutely no forward thinking from so many of its student body, administration and staff. Good gosh! Oh, by the way...I believe the vote will pass in spite of such "opinion" columns. GO MEAN GREEN...Nice reply "Rick"!

And soccer too!

UNT WINS SATURDAY!
-
Yes, and I retain the ability to confuse and amaze! The team is young...you can call it whatever you want....but, win they do! And a shot at the conference crown they do have!!!!
-
14,000 to see the 1st QTR end....it's anyone's guess after that...weather also has a big part to play in attendance for this game... SCORE?????? Hmmmmmm... since no one else has ventured where brave me fear to tread... UNT 32 Drum roll please............ ULL 28 AND THERE YOU HAVE IT. Be there to see the season's first win!!!! And, yes, the Green Kool-Aid tastes great...it's SUGAR-FREE!!!! GO MEAN GREEN!

Lost the team...NO! I believe there are some dynamics going on within the team that need to be "cleared up" and it may just take the rest of this season to do so. I believe there just may be some problems/challenges within the team that the public does not know about and that are being addressed internally...and should remain internal! I think it is time for the leaders on this team to step up and be leaders. I believe they are trying and I believe they will be successful, but it takes time when there are players who say one thing to your face and do something entirely different behind your back. I think some of that is going on...and I think there may be some more challenges that Coach Dodge and his staff are having to clear up before the season ends on a much brighter note. NOT ALL THINGS NEED TO BE MADE PUBLIC! Have faith MEAN GREEN NATION....it is a tough time right now, but that will change...it's time to support the players who want to be on this team and to play those players...win, lose or draw. The FUTURE IS NOW! GO MEAN GREEN....
-
I certainly hope this will not be the first...at this point it's tough to think anything else, but I will...I choose to believe UNT will win this season....
-
I will go back to some of my earlier comments...this team has a chance at the conference crown this year...young or not...call it waht you will, but the team appears to be getting it together for a nice run. A bit more scoring would be nice. Wouldn't it always, however??? GO SOCCER!!!! The REAL Football!
