Way to go NT DRUMMER...thanks for the effort in getting the event together...I wish you great success...lots of attendees and lots of cold beer! GO MEAN GREEN. So, all you Gulf Coast (Houston Area) Alumni....make it out to the event on the 6th...it will be a great time to mix and mingle with other MEAN GREEN Alums and supporters...hey, lots of business card opportunities too. Mean Green Nation helping Mean Green Nation..... PLEASE attend...lots of time to plan for a Nov. 6th event...besides, you might need something to drown out the election results if they went against you!

Why do so many folks have such disdain for anyone who makes a great deal of money???? Class envy perhaps. I guess that's why the idea of re-distributing wealth meets with so many fans. can't see it. You make what you make....want more? Work harder, go back to school, change jobs, start your own business, take some risks...I have a nephew who cries about teacher salaries all the time. I cannot recall seeing a gun stuck to his head forcing him to become a public school teacher. He chose that profession and he is darn good at it. Just like my wife who spent a career in the public schools. Just because someone makes a good bit of money is not a reason to vilify them. Are there BUMS who make a ton of cash and do it in a less than professional and honest manhner, sure there are! But, are there folks who makes less and still cheat doing it? Sure there are....but, do not blame everyone or put everyone in the same boat. Class warfare does no one any good. And taking from one person to give to someone else is just plain wrong! Paying one's fair share of taxes is fine...paying more than one's share to give a hand out to someone else is not. Hand up, you bet, hand out...not so much. I would love to be one of those RICH people Obama likes to talk about...but, alas, I am not....but that does not make those folks BAD people....they pay a good bit of taxes.....and create a good many jobs...and support a bunch of fine causes and unviersities, etc., etc. OK, 'nuf said. America...great place...you want to be rich...go do it! It is 100% possible IF you are willing to take the risks and put in the effort.

There have always been, and, alas, seems there always will be "small thinkers" in this world. Just like the folks that would rather have a hand out than a hand up! UNT has its share of students who really care nothing for the school and for some reason see it as something to be scorned rather than something to have pride in being part of for four+ year as a student. Too bad. They are missing out...they simply do not realize it because it "ain't cool" to like your school in the crowd they run around with day-to-day. Shallow people...shallow thoughts, but these are really still just kids. I recall some "interesting" talks I had with my Dad while an undergrad at UNT. Sure thought I had the answers then....looking back...not so much. So, some of these folks simply get a pass from me in the hopes that they will open up to bigger things and bigger horizons as time goes on for them. Lots of hippies in the 60's-70's became business leaders, leaders in science, education, etc., etc. There is hope! And, just in case you didn't know it...THE VOTE WILL PASS!

Just saying......reminds me of what my grand dad used to say about "stuck pigs squealing". Just saying..... Amazing how so many folks want to see only the negative and can't put things in proper perspective. Ask yourself that "at the end of the day" is what you are so upset about or what you are worrying about REALLY THAT important? If so...good...worry some more...if not...let it go and enjoy the day. I used to manage a competitive soccer team...and was a select/competitive club president and youth tournament director for many years...now I just referee (sure, I like being yelled at by ignorant parents...call me weird!).... Every year I would have to ask some of my parents a question that was asked of me once by a very bright parent when I was getting a bit over-perplexed after losing a game....his simple question was: "Tell me the score of the third game we played in the fall season two years ago". Obviously, I couldn't even remeber, off the top of my head, who we played, much less what the score was....POINT MADE!!!! It AIN'T THAT IMPORTANT...if it were I would definitely have remembered on the spot. SUre I could "look it up", but if it were THAT important i would know the answer instantly!!!! Every year, I would ask that question a few times...and I have asked it recently of one youth soccer coach who was more than a bit "perplexed" during a game I was refereeing...certainly couldn't have been the great calls I was making....both my club parents and the coach "got it"..... Some folks on this board need to "get it" too, I think. Just saying........ NOW go out and smile and enjoy the day....

Talk of firing Dodge is pure NUTS. Dodge will get the job done...he needs our support, not constant whining and second guessing. If he can't get it done in his contarct term, then discuissions with the "proper" folks will/can take place. BTW...that is not GMC.Com posters....Have faith...CORRECT, and you eill be rewarded. Folks, there were flyers at the Dallas Mixer last evening announcing the Denton Chapter event...and I have mentioned it on GMG.Com previously...and you can bet I will again as the day draws nearer!!!!! Talked to several folks about the Oct. 30th event....see there you have it: OCT. 30th Denton Alumni Center - UNT Campus 6:30PM Denton Chapter: Meet and Greet with Coach Jones and Coach Stephens... EVERYONE WELCOME!!!! Be there or be square...I hear there will be a drawing for some NEAT-O stuff too!

I did...it was a nice event and a nice turnout of Mean Green nation members. Thanks to the Exes/Alumni Assoc. for setting this up.....The Alumni Assoc. is really working hard to "get out there" and develop a great association. All Alums should join and participate. The Alumni Assoc. will be holding mixers in both Austin and Houston soon. Way to go!!!!

VOTE PASSES...we find out for certain this evening! GO MEAN GREEN. I attended an Alumni Mixer in Dallas at BlackFinn last evening. Some members of the NT 40 were there and all were positive about the vote...and had, in fact voted for the fee increase...said students they knew were for the passage....as always...the loud mouth opposition gets all the press, but are often the last to really know what's going on.... BTW...nice event by the Alumni Assoc. Well attended, great drink specials, good location and free munchies! Alumni Assoc. is really getting "out there" and trying to build support. The Alumni Assoc. will be holding Mixers in both Austin and Houston in the next week or so. Moving forward. I hope the "Alumni/Exes bashers" are taking note of the good things going on. Also...Oct. 30th at the Alumni center...Denton Exes will have a "meet and greet" with both Coach Stephens and Coach Jones. Gee, these Alums just never do anything....WRONG! Come to the Exes center...6:30 on Oct. 30th and enjoy the fun. See you at Fouts...we need to go to every game at Fouts as it will be a memory (and, yes, a good one for me) when the new stadium arrives. Can't wait! GO MEAN GREEN!!!!

Pretty decent article. Good points from Dodge...note that Washington is into the "stadium thing" too! Good luck to them. UNT finds out today that the vote passed on UNT's new stadium...and UNT gets its first win Saturday against ULM. GO MEAN GREEN!

I have my fingers crossed that this season will be a turning point in women's BB at UNT. I am anxious to see the team under Coach Stephens. And, I haven't been "anxious" to see a women's BB game at UNT in quite a few years. Should be fun! I wish the women all the best. Let's make it fun and let's get after 'em!

The guy has been playing like a very average corner...simply not worth the problems that come with him...too small for today's NFL if the best he has is what we have seen so far. If you are an NFL player and you need a babysitter to keep you out of trouble, well, I say "don't let the door hit you in your backside on the way out"...See YA! WHO NEEDS THIS CRAP????? Even the Cowboys should have seen this trin wreck on its way to Valley Ranch!

You want to raise tax revenues...LOWER TAXES. It's not the deficit we should even worry about...IT'S SPENDING LEVELS! Simple enough...so why do so many people have no clue????????

"Green green, it's green they say on the far side of the moon".....I go for the green tie or Mean Green/UNT pin. I do think athletic dept. personnel when in public situations should have some green on be it a tie, pin scarf, etc., etc. I know you probably get tired of my comparisons to Oklahoma State, but I have yet to see a coach, athletic dept. stffer or administrative type in a public situation representing OSU without some orange on...somewhere! So, yep...let's see the green!

Don't worry...this election garbage will all be over soon. Neither of these guys will be able to do even half of what they are talking about during their campaigns. If you believe the campaign speech you are certainly one that believes in the tooth fairy! "Big Hat...No cattle"...I believe someone said that on this borad not long ago...not original here for sure...but, the so-called debates were interesteing entertainment. Too bad that reality will set in after the election. JUST VOTE...and...have a nice day! The sky is not falling!

The world has many of these sad folks...too bad for them...they probably run around depressed all day every day. Don't let these folks get to you...vocal they might be...but a minority they certainly are...and always wil be! Too bad for him....he is missing out on some many great things about college...but, he doesn't care...he just doesn't know what he doesn't know!

Oh, Ye of little faith....chill folks...the vote will pass! Everyone will soon know the results....ACRORN can't steal this one.....I, too, am a bit anxious as the "anti" crowd is rather vocal these days and seems to be pulling out some rather questionable tactics. But, that is probably because they know they will lose if they don't, in effect, cheat. Isn't that sad? But, the "pro" vote will prevail and the stadium vote will pass. Most of us on this board cannot vote and cannot "influence" the election one way or the other. It is something neither you nor I can control...so, just relax a bit and enjoy the ride. We should all know sometime later tomorrow. Then, maybe we can all start talking about the positive things going on with UNT and UNT Athletics. Lots of folks are missing all the good going on because they are so wound up in all the "stuff" they really don't know that much about. It's amazing how rumor and speculation can "win the day" for so many people...just where is Joe McCarthy when you need a good commie hunter?????? Surely evil is lurking behind every stone and tree on the UNT campus....NOT! GO MEAN GREEN!!!!!
