Time To Let Daniel Meager Play Quarterback, Then Put
KRAM1 replied to Green Grenade II's topic in Mean Green Football
Yes, C&S, agree, with the "in the face comment...but, it's sport and not the office in this case....I taught my kid as well as I could thank you and I think everyone would be proud (as I am to have such a son)...went to and Graduated Summa Cum Laude from the United States Merchant Marine Academy, Played four years of College soccer and was named capitan of the team his 1st class year, was ranked 7th all-time in NCAA D-III history for min. allowed without a goal his senior year, sailed for 2 years on merchant ships upon graduation, went to UNT as a grad student to do some pre-med work, went to medical school, and is now a doctor in the US Navy going through flight training to be a flight surgeon before doing a medical residency in his speciality. LEAVE YOUR COMMENTS ABOUT MY KID...and how his mother and I raised him....out of your comments. You have no clue!!!! Obviously! Yes, parents do get "fired up"...I did on the sidelines when a goal was scored and every parent looked my way as if the goalkeeper was totally responsible....what the heck were those other 10 players doing on the field before the ball and opposing player got back to him????? If you ever played sports at any level, my guess is that you have been in a coaches face. If not, where's the fire in your belly??? Send me a PM and I'll tell you the "rest of the story"...beacuse the whole story is not posted. You obviously missed the point! If you are the parent of a college level player you know...or should...exactly how it feels to be in the situation some of our young men find themselevs in today on the UNT team. I don't think any of them are playing so they can put it on their resume...however, agree that it looks good...BUT, I have seen many many resumes in my time listing college intercollegiate sport participation where the time played WAS not through the senior year. Still says something positive! By the way...congratulations on raising such a great kid and being such a better parent than I was. Maybe you should write a book. My kid didn't come with instructions on good parenting...I should have asked you! -
I don't know Emmitt01...what is a "savior"...is that another spelling of your idea of a hyperbole???? I can deal with your "so-called" hyperbole...just not your compeltely disrespectful "Southlake Jesus" comment. How about a comparison to say, Douglas MacArthur...a general with a widely recognized "ego"!

No one said Dodge should not be evaluated at the end of the season...might get some fairly low grades in some areas if this board is anywhere near correct, but HE WILL and SHOULD be back next season. He will definitely be evaluated at the end of the season as will the entire coaching staff including DeLoach AND including the palers. Some coaches and some players jsut might not return next season...the evaluations will "tell the tale" on that....BUT, Coach Dodge and Coach DeLoach will definitely return...and so they should!

Time To Let Daniel Meager Play Quarterback, Then Put
KRAM1 replied to Green Grenade II's topic in Mean Green Football
I certainly support getting Daniel and Chad on the field somewhere! Would love to see everyone get on the field and play...ALL the seniors need to be on the field sometime during our last few games this season and I say START every senior you can on SENIOR DAY! It is only fitting. Sure if the game meant the difference between a SBC Championship and no championship, then maybe not, but unfortunately, such is not the case this season. DM has been a big contributor for the team for several years and he is a senior....get him on the field...Chad Rose also "deserves" to be on the field. Folks, however, what is with all the "EGO" crap being mentoned on this board???? Come on...parents of players not playing ALWAYS think their kid should be playing...rightfully so....I have heard from some parents in the "drunk tank" before games and they seem pretty "unhappy", yet their sons are still on the team. No one is holding a gun to tjese kids heads to stay on the team if they are THAT unhappy. My guess, yes, they think they should be playing or playing more (some probably should), but unfortunately...this ain't pee wee football where every kid gets to play half of the game. College football is a JOB! It;s tough and it isn't always fair! How would you like to be the freshmen kickers at TTech these days? Leach has probably destroyed those two young freshmen...think their parents are happy????? Hey, I have been the parent of a college player (yes, soccer) who wasn't getting the playing time the first couple of years that I just KNEW he deserved! It's tough...if you have been there yiou know, if you haven't...well, you really don't have a clue!!!! Guess what, my perspective on the situation was not alwys the same as my son's. I recall one away gamne I happened to attend at West Point. The coach started my son (fist collegiate start as a sophomore - 3rd Classman) in goal....team did fine (in fact we - US Merchant marine Academy - a DIII school- were leading D1 West Point at the time 1-0) until about midway through the first half when Army scord on a breakawy goal to tie it at 1-1. Immediately, the Coach jerked my son and put in the "regular keeper". Saw my son walk up to the Coach and get right in his face before being "calmed down" by a teammate and an assistant coach. Man, was he ever mad....as a parent I was TICKED to say the laest. After the game, I had a chance to chat with my son before they headed out...wasn't a happy camper, but had a different perspective than I had for sure and never once indicated anything other than he was ready for his next shot. Thankfully, after getting in the coaches face, he WAS given another shot and did win the starting job down the line. This college sports stuff is hard...it's work...and IT ISN'T ALWAYS FAIR. I do think we all know that, but don't take what "unhappy" parents say as the gospel about what's going on either...Been there...done that! GO MEAN GREEN!!!!! -
ANOTHER great win for the Mean Green Soccer program. Way to go ladies...This team has put itself in a position to win the season crown and go into the tournament the #1 seed. Great job ladies and what a difference the season has made on the confidence of this team and in the actual play. Nice...very nice.. GO GET 'EM!!!!! GO MEAN GREEN!!!!!

Folks...anyone interested???? Should be a great evening...starts the same time the Pourhouse event starts on Nov. 3rfd...come on out on the 30th and meet and greet Coach Jones and Coach Stephens. Anyone on this board coming besides me????
-
I suggest that this situation be brought to the attention of Coach Jones and Coach Stephens as well as RV. This is unacceptable and shows a bit of "small thinking" in my opinion. Yes, sports are 100% entertainment value to the ticket buying public. All to often the "professionals" in the arena forget who the audiance is that "pays the frieght". I would bet that RV and both BB coaches would be willing to change this...but, watch...they have folks avaiable at the next game to purchase BB tickets and no one wants to buy...they go, "see, told you...no one wants to buy tickets, so we were right ansd we are not doing this again"...that, my firends, would be "stinkin' thinkinng" but might prevail at UNT. SAD!
-
SUMG...you have a vaild point about the hotels and indoor practices. I question that myself...doesn't seem to get getting the team anywhere. And, UNT does not need that type of "eliteism". Should be as OPEN and as fan friendly as possible through this tough period for the team and its fan base. Valid points!
-
Coach DeLoach is bringing this defense around...saw some of that Saturday at Fouts...BOTH Coach Dodge and Coach DeLoach will return next season. Bank on it happening. I cannot see Coach DeLoach leaving with "undone business" on the field and Coach Dodge has "work to do" and he will get it done! I realize the complaining will continue, and rightfully so, but don't give up the ship. It is sailing through U-boat infested waters without much in the way of covering destroyers at the moment. Safer waters are just over the horizon!

Some really decent comments here folks...some, well, just the same "stuff" that has been posted after every loss. PHSCoach...2 games at D1...how much D1 head coaching experience do you have anyway...just wondering, not "calling you out" or anything like that...your comments are good, just wondeing about your college level D1 coaching experience. I really dislike the "Southlake Jesus" comment. Totally uncalled for and disrespectful in so many ways and on so many levels. And, folks who know me certainly know that I am not some right-wing religious fundamentalist. If you must be so disrespectful in your comments, pick another venue PLEASE! I was puzzeled as to why we kicked that field goal to make it 10 points? Geeezzzzzzz, down by as much as we were at the time, why kick a field goal? Why not go for it on 4th down? What lose by three more poits if you don't amke the 4th down? Who would really care? I saw some things that encouraged me a bit Saturday, but it does seem that the "spirit" of the team is really down. I do not know why that is...several folks here have provided their "reasoning", but I am 100% certain that the players...all of them are trying VERY hard. The idea that they cannot win because they do not "know their place on the team" also has me puzzled. Folks, that's life...no guarantees...I had had several changes in bosses during my career and what was good for one wasn't so much for the other...I had some that thought I "could do no wrong" and others, well, I was certainly not their "fair haired boy". That's the way it is...you just "suck it up", put in a full day, do the best you can and see where it takes you. So, question...do we have leaders on this team around whom the players can rally if, as some say here, that there are coaches "hurting their feelings"? What about some closed door players only meetings? Is that happening? Can the players take the coaches out of the picture when it comes to this sort of thing? I think UNT has a great core of young quality players and a good group of older/experienced hold-overs from the DD days. So, why not lead and show that just because you are a so-called "hold-over" not getting as much playing time that you might actually deserve that you can't be a real asset to the team and the younger plaers? You think that kind of attitude along with some very hard practice work might just get you more playing time? Do you think a "hang dog" attitude might cut into playing time? I don't know and I am NOT blaming the players, but with the talent UNT DOES have on this team, where are the leaders? Maybe they are there, I don't know..... I would bet that at 0-12 Dodge returns....BUT, this team will not go 0-12! UNT beats WKY on the road this week! GO MEAN GREEN!!!!

Early Voting
KRAM1 replied to MeanGreengdub's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Amazing stuff here folks...lots of name calling. Come on...your Mom's would not be proud of you! Thank goodness the election will be over in just over a week. man, it's about time! To me, it is amazing how little "some" folks know about the party or the candidate that they support. That is really scary, and brings up the qiestion of whether everyone SHOULD be allowed to vote. maybe there Should be some "test"...but, then again...only in America where only citizens are susposed to vote do you have polling place information in Spanish and folks around to read the ballot to voters who cannot read the language of the nation ijn which they claim to reside as CITIZENS! Goos grief...witnessed that myself as I voted early last week. With that going on...what do you expect! SAD! -
OK, I'll bite....HOMER TIME... Big Upset in the 'Belt... UNT 38 Troy 33 Attendance: 17,500 and most stay...hey, it's homecoming! And, just what else did you expect me to predict? GO MEAN GREEN!

A Tale Of Two Douchebags
KRAM1 replied to JesseMartin's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Note Green Mean's comments and you will clearly see why you cannot have a civil thoughtful conversation with the liberal folks these days....yes, a generalization, of course, but seems to be more "general" than generalization these days. How do any of these folks get elected...Murtha, Frank, Polesi, etc., etc.? They get elected because more folks in their voting districts vote for them than the other guy running. Simple, isn't it? Here we have someone who has probably never set foot in the state of Alaska calling everyone there who voted for Palin for gov. stupid! Great! Very "adult" and so very intelligent a comment. Come on, folks...ENOUGH! AGAIN...you VOTE FOR PRESIDENT FIRST!!!!! Cheney is not running...nor is Bush in case you haven't noticed. GEEEEEZZZZZZ...get over it and start thinking about the future...stop the irrational hatred for the last guys in office and get on with some thoughtful and intelligent thinking about the next PRESIDENT! -

Adler...how does the kool-Aid taste? I might ask you, Sir, what experience qualifies Mr. Obama for the top spot on the Dem ticket? What, less than 2 years in the Senate and most voting present because he couldn't make a decision? I think it is time to get past the "qualification" discussion...fact is Palin is on the ticket for the Republicans and Obama is on the ticket for the Democrats. That's a fact...and if the only thing you can get excited about on either ticket is the experience level of a VP (the VP for gosh sake's) for the Republicans or the experience level of the presidential candidate on the Democratic side then you probaly should not be voting yet as you need to do a bit more research and bit more study. Not saying that is you at all, Adler, just trying to get folks to think of real solid issues....in fact, is anyone really qualified...anyone...for this job BEFORE they step into the Oval Office? Was Kennedy, was Reagan, was Truman, was Clinton, was Daddy or son Bush, was Carter, was anyone? How can they be. You have to hope and pray that they choose qualifed and experienced Cabinet members and advisors with unique and specific qualifications in areas of importance and we go from there with the best decisions possible at the time they are made. Good Gosh, folks...get off this issue...there are so many more important issues to be decided. -

You vote for President 1st....with the VP's neither one is what I would actually want running the country, but in reality, how often has a VP turned into a President before actually running for the top spot in the first place? Sure, in my lifetime I got LBJ and Gerald Ford. My guess is that most folks on this board could not name the past 10 VP's without looking it up in some reference book or on-line? Base your vote on the person you want as President FIRST and FORMOST...they call this the Presidential election for a reason! If you are 100% tied in your choice for Pres., then decide whom you like for VP. BUT, only if you are undecided, really undecided, on your choice for the top spot and feel they are each equally suited for the job. That's my take on it....you have to decide for yourself. Just vote after thoughtful and rational consideration...either guy...but know WHY you voted for who you did and be able to communicate why you did! -
Are you beating up on my Cowboys again?????

Yes...sorry...how do you put a sarcasm tag on.....next time! How can I say Gotcha with a tag! It's fun folks! I will admit (to Quoner's delight I am certain) that I was half-way through the post before I began to realize that I may have been been "had"!!! Re-read the thing and started feeling pretty silly. Thought, what if this is Quoner or someone else trolling for a response and I jump? That would be a bit funny at my expense...but you didh it out, you take it too. So, then just decided to go on and see what happens....it's fun just thinking about it. I'll take the heat for being "Half-Had" and say well done! I'm so easy sometimes, but that's what all the girls said too!

FF Rick, give it up...you are fighting a losing battle with folks who refuse to see the real story/facts. People on the left will believe the way they are told to believe by party faithful without doing any real study or without placing any real analysis together. It "all hat and no cattle" with these folks. Most have such a hatred for President Bush that it clouds every aspect of thought and reasonableness. In the face of facts they trudge right on with their delusions about "their guy" and his "experience" and his "judgement". It's CAMALOT ALL OVER AGAIN with these folks. Now, that being said...do we have some folks on the right doing the same thing...you bet we do. And, they too, need to stop and take a breath and think very hard about why they support who they support and why they think the "other guy" is bad for America. You simply cannot have a thoughtful conversation with folks on the left because every answer will be some "quote" about Bush being the devil in street clothes or Palin being "dumb", etc., etc. Just yesterday I was in such a discussion and asked my left leaning co-worker to name on time that Obama has been tested in any real sense of the word...in any possible critical situation...guess what the answer was..."WELL McCAIN CERTAINLY HASN'T BEEN TESTED EITHER"! Great thoughtful answer wouldn't you say? I also asked why they thought Obama voted "present" so many times instead of making a decision....Answer: "he thought that was the best way to vote"! Another dandy from the mouth of my liberal friend. So, I asked, OK, given all that why are you voting for Obama? Answer: "I don't like Bush and Obama will change things". Man, with thoughtful and deep thinking like that, I can understand completely why folks are wanting Obama. FFRick...stop, you will not get thorugh to these folks....they have, however, greatly helped me to know exactly why I have already cast my vote for JOHN McCAIN. One way or the other this will all be over Nov. 5th (unless McCain wins and then the Dems will sue and the final vote will be tied up in the courts for who knows how long...sore losers they always seem to be). I am sure we will all be glad that at least it is OVER! The campaign that is.... -
My Ballot!

AT LEAST YOU VOTED! -
You must be kidding me. Is this real???? A so-called professor at a so-called university of higher education posted this sort of thing??? How childish and how unprofessional is that? This guy is in a music dept. at a school certainly not known for its music department in any rteal sense and he has the need to publish this kuind of garbage? I wonder if he applied at UNT school of Music and was turned down for lack of professionalism or something like that. If I were associated with Troy I would be VERY disappointed in this guy! Posting a little smack is not the problem, it is what he says and how he says it. I did not know that 12 year olds were able to be professors at Troy, but maybe he only acts like he is 12! Sad guy...so very sad. I think he needs to get a life or something....or maybe a real friend! CLOWN of the first degree.

I agree 100% with the comment regarding the Ticket. At one time is was great sports talk...now, too much "other stuff" and way to much talk between the TICKET folks themselves...it really is not much of a sports station any longer...thus I listen very little...once in awhile in drive time after work, but not much else. Every time I tune in they are talking about some re-tread Rock and Roll group or some personal experience or something...where did the sports talk go????
