Somebody actually watched the game?????? Wow! -
I was there...about 40 attended...free beer and soft drinks and great muchies...also free...it was a great evening and very positive. RV came early and those of us there got to talk to him one-on-one for quite awhile. I did extract a promise from him...witnessed by several people...that UNT will field a men's soccer team BEFORE it fields an ice hockey team! Man, I feel much better about that and inted to hold him to his promise...although, I am being bribed by a hockey supporter if hocky comes first that he will become rich and donate all the money for an ice hokey arena and name it after me! Both Coach Jones and Coach Stephens did a GREAT job in talking about their upcomming seasons, and several assistant coaches were on hand from both programs for the meet and greet. They stayed after the respective coaches spoke to talk with anyone that wished to speak with them. I think great things are on the horizon for the men this season and that we will witness a re-birth with our women's team. I think our ladies will beat some folks this season who will be shocked! The story was told that the women are working extremely hard at practice and Johnny commented that he was glad that he was not in those practices. OPK, rumor too was that the ladies point guard put up about 34 points in a scrimmage against some of the men's tem members recently! It was VERY POSITIVE and very upbeat and all who attended seemed pleased...even had the Chairman of our Board of Regents, Mrs. Gail Strange, in attendance. Very nice and what a geat show of support for both the Alumni Association and the Basketball program at UNT. One word of note too...if you plan on attending the Conference Tournament in Hot Springs this year...book your hotel reservations early and book at the Embassey Suites. Was told that hotel is attached to the arena which holds about 5800 fans. Johnny mentioned how the players definitely "notice" and definitely appreciate seeing green in the stands at the tournament! Both coaches did a great job of reviewing current players and competition to be faced this season. The SBC is getting known as a better and better BB conference all the time. ALSO...Johnny memntioned the crowds at the Old Pit where an exhibition/pre-season game will be played this year...said he really hoped a crowd would fill that place so he could see what people were talking about when remembering the original PIT aka SMAKE PIT at UNT!!!! I'll be there...let's PACK THE PIT FOR JJ and the team that night and rock the wall like old times!!!!

FANTASTIC...just one more indication that "good things" are happening...and you can find them if you pick your head up and stop dwelling on the negative all the time...and that our students ARE beginning to get into and support athletics at UNT. This type of support while a student often creates a Mean Green Nation member for life!!!! GREAT JOB! HOORAH!!!!!
-
I'll be at the Ark State game...I think the seniors on this team who have given so much and showed character to stay with the program and not walk away have earned our respect...It is the VERY LEAST I can do to show my support! I hope everyone will think of the seniors BEFORE they make a final decision on whether to attend the Ark St game or not. Sometimes, the RIGHT thing to do is simply the RIGHT THING TO DO! Think about that as you make your decision to attend or not. GO MEAN GREEN!

Proposed Return Of Baseball Program May Start By 2010
KRAM1 replied to GabeGMG's topic in Mean Green Athletics
Now that idea has merit. While you are sleeping throufgh a 4 hour 1-0 baseball game you could actually watch some sports action on a track! Great idea...I'm for it! OK, I'll confess...college baseball is way more fun to watch than the pros. I went to tons of Oklahoma State baseball games while attending OSU and they were great! But, don't tell anyone else on this board that I sad that...Shhhhhhhhhhhhh! -
JUST FIVE MORE DAYS....Thanks for small miracles. Now if only we can have a miracle at WKU Saturday. GO MEAN GREEN!

Dreams do come true...sometimes!

I would doubt that Dr. Lowe would want to come out of "soccer retirement" to coach it, but I have a name...we could call on David Hudgell who is coaching director of the Dallas Texans Soccer Club in Dallas and has fielded national championship teams in recent years...and was once an assistant men's coach at UNT! I'll bet he would jump at the chance to rebuild the once proud and successful men's team at UNT. With all the soccer talent in the DFW area, I would bet that UNT could field a top 20 team within three years! But, I only dream! UNT KILLED the program with the highest winning percentage in its history...GREAT move! UGH! To make matter worse, there is talk of adding baseball in the near future. So it goes!

So, GreenAlums...you are by your own definition an "affluent family"...OK, so how about you give a big donation and we name the new stadium after YOU? -
I look for the Mean Green to consistantly compete for the conference crown in whatever conference they are in and play in post-season bowl games on a fairly regular basis. My goal would also be to get the Mean Green into a higher rated conference with some "local" flavor where some real year-end and year-out rivalry games can develop...and close enough for a fairly easy drive to away games...OK, I am just wishing about that, but the first sentance is what I am looking to for this program. There you go....GO MEAN GREEN!!!!

WOW...great to see another "win" prediction for the Mean Green. I was feely lonely!

How about grade re-distribution.....Since students who have worked their rear ends off to do the work and make A's and B's, and since C is a passing grade...the A & B students certainly do not need the extra grade they made above C. So, like the re-distribution of wealth under Mr. Obama, let's take a grade or two away from the students who actually earned the grades and re-distribute the "extra" to those students who were unable or unwilling or too lazy to earn passing grades! Man, sounds great to me...who needs anything above the passing "C" anyway? Just extra and no one should be allowed to keep the "extra" they have earned by actually working hard! Let's redistribute the grade wealth!!!!! Yep, would make me want to go out and work hard to make those A's and B's just so I can give some of the GPA to those who didn't!!!!! GREAT idea, right? -

I'll keep predicting the win! Why the heck not???? I just believe it will happen THIS SEASON. If not, then next season because there will alwys be a next season. Let me ask you this, without looking it up, tell me the score of UNT's third game in the 1998 season...quick what was it? Who won??? Did you know without looking it up? If not...IT AINT THAT IMPORTANT or you would know in an instant! SO...this week the MEAN GREEN WIN AT WKU!!!! Look for it..... -
YIPPEEEE!!!!!! LOVE IT!!!! It's guy check and character time for the Mean Green faithful. Like I have said before on this board...easy to be Green when you are 8-0...lots of folks jumping on the bandwagon...same folks now want to jump off! It's time this board started thinking about some of the things they are posting that are totally "out of line" regarding the players and the coaching staff. CHARACTER TIME IS RIGHT! Rick's example's were of the team and its character, but it's time for the faithful to show the same character as out team is trying to show. We need rears in the seats for the last home game and we need more POSITIVE input on this board! No, don't give me the "head in the sand" speech. I am not saying to ignore the season UNT is having on the field, but that simply is not the whole story. Hang in there Mean Green Nation...you WILL be rewarded for your patience and your support. GO MEAN GREEN!!!!!
-
As everyone on this board knows or should know by now...I agree! My only "want" would be to see more of our senior leaders get a chance to lead a little. Tough to be a leader when you are stuck on the bench most of the time...I know it's the coaching satff's call, but would be interesting to see what happens, wouldn't it? GO MEAN GREEN!!!!!

I guess we can't move on...too bad!

High School-to-college Coach Foundering In Year 2
KRAM1 replied to mgsteve's topic in Mean Green Football
Man, some folks here must still have all the ribbons and awards they got playing pee wee football and just "showing up". Good grief, if some of you folks are that bitter and that "upset" give it a rest and try to get some reality back into your lives before you simply explode! This is football, remember, it's a game. I agree 100% that the season is a BAD one, but there will be better seasons ahead. Let's all remember that we are members of the MEAN GREEN NATION and support this team, its players and coaches while they are here and while they are all doing their best to turn this thing around. Still games to play in THIS season. Go fishing, play some golf, shoot some hoops, take your kids out for some fun at Halloween...get away from this board for awhile and try to get some perspective. ENJOY your life a bit more...you simply cannot be THAT stressed out! At least I hope not. GO MEAN GREEN! UNT WINS AT WKU SATURDAY!!!!!! -
People...People...can we move on...PLEASE...PLEASE!!!!! The drug test is OVER...there will be more to come...the players know that! Time to move on...for it or against it, good for you...MOVE ON! Good News....No article in the Dallas Morning News today regarding UNT Football problems!!!! YIPPEE!!!! Let's move on...UNT has a game to win this Saturday at WKU!!!! GO MEAN GREEN...and, by the play...Play the seniors and not just on the special teams!!!! They have earned the right to get some quality time. Who knows...UNT might even put up some great numbers Saturday! Move on folks, it's football time!!!!!! GO MEAN GREEN!

Art Or A Hate Crime?
KRAM1 replied to UNTLifer's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Yep...A picture is worth a thousand words. And, this picture, my friends, tells a thousand words about the guy who did this...he is simply an IDIOT! In NO way is this art or even appropriate for Halloween. We should ALL be outraged by this garbage. It doesn't go for "either side" of the question. This is another example of where this whole process has "gotten off track". SAD, so very sad that this is happening. Have all the "arguments" over politics you want, all the disagreements, all the "who said-they said" you want, but do not stoop so low as to do something like this. -
Yep...my thoughts exactly about the "facts" stated. What facts are there to prove one way or the other? Way to go Coffee and Tea..another example of sheep following the herd! I have yet to have a conversation with a supporter of Mr. Obama who does not use the word "change" and the name "George Bush" in every explanation as to why they are favoring Mr. Obama...nothing solid as to why they think HE might make a better presiodent than Mr. McCain. Just the same rat-clap they have heard from the media over and over and over. This is not a personality contest and we are not looking to elect as our next president the guy who can read a tele-prompter better than the other guy (is it just me or have you noted a difference in Mr. Obama's "talking" when he is not reading from a prepared speech? Just wondering). And we are not electing someone because of George Bush...folks on the left...get over it! Mr. Bush's presidency is ending in January. That you can rest assured. So, do some real research about taxes, the war in Irag and Afghanistan, immigration, health care and social security reform, campaign finance reform (man, does this campaign every cry out for solid and genuine campaign finance reform), etc., etc. Then go vote...whichever way, but at least be an informed voter! You decide...use your own intelligence and then decide. But, wait, I am sure you already have done all that...that's why you think what playmaker posted were "facts" and "research". Predictions are worth about as much as you paid for them to read...NOTHING! remember Truman vs Dewey????? As Yogi said (I think it was Yogi...let me do a little research on that one) "It Ain't Over Until It's Over"!!!!

ONLY TTech fans fail to see how unprofessional Leach is...but then again, he's their guy! Look, like I said I enjoy watching TT play...it's fun to watch...and they have a very good team this season...they have even learned how to play a little defense with that offense "machine". I just think they could do it all with a bit of class! Even Leach has to know that what he is doing at every opportunity is simply unprofessional and in VERY poor taste! The guys a BUM on the field. Off the field I don't know about that. Tramp96...you have to be an Obama guy the way you took my "partial" comment out of context. Maybe you can share "tramp" with Coach Leach! What you think?
