I think everyone upset with the receipt time needs to look at bit "closer" at the "system" restraints and delivery issues. I am with Quoner on this...do you really think anyone at UNT is sitting around "after" the game starts and composing such a message? I doubt it...I give them "props" for looking to do this sort of communication in the first place. Come on folks, I doubt this was "human error"...anyway...good to see the last two wins at home... GO MEAN GREEN!

3 of 4 is not out of reason...IF...the team can start playing together and take the game a bit more seriously...too much "street ball" stuff the last few games. Pay attention to the fundamentals...passing, free throws, in-bounds play, etc. and 3 of 4 and even 4 of 4 is a real possibility. Talent is there...I just wonder if the "thought process" and "thinking" is there?

And just which Big XII schoool has aneed for Vizza? I wish him well and hope he does go to the Big XII, ut based on his performance last season, I can't imagine where? Colorado???? K-State? OU, OSU, Baylor, TT, Neb., UT, T A&M...seem set at QB. Maybe he just wants to be a quality back-up at a "BIGGER" conference school. Who knows... Sorry to disappoint you, Quoner, was just having a little play off the old Mad Magazine line..."what, me worry?". You are probably too young to "get it"!

NICE...so very Nice! -
Man, this thread is something else...first, my wife and I are season ticket holders and we WERE at the game...NO, we did not stand a yell a bunch...gee, so sorry that we support the MEAN GREEN with our money and our attendance! Perhaps, like the vast majorirty of students, we should just not buy the tickets and stay home! GIVE US A BREAK! I have been buying tickets and coming to UNT games since the mid-1960's...when some of you guys who tell me to "just stay home" can say the same thing, I'll listen...get the students out and I'll listen! Foe a school fo UNT's size, the student turnout is HORRIBLE! Even if school is "out", the vast majority are well withing an hor's drive of UNT. Where were they????? You folks are something else....many of the folks who you "beat on" for not standing and yelling through out the games are the ones who are providing the vast majorirty of the support dollars and are they ones who drive or fly to many of the away games! Most students cannot even be botherd enough to drive 30 min. to Denton during beak to support the team! You folks are really something! Now, as to the game...GREAT to see the win...but IT WAS NOT A WELL PLAYED GAME AT ALL!!!!! Still the same old problems...cannot get the ball inbounds, have problems with any defensive pressure, cannot get it in to the post, and for DARN SURE...cannot hit a free throw! If even half of the free throws during regulation were made, there would have been no need for 3 OT's! GOOD GRIEF...I read an article, I think from the Mavericks coach, recently where it was said something to the effect of...yep, he missed a couple of free throws tonight, but I am not worried...he's the kind of player that when that happens he will stay after practice and shoot 2000 free throws! My guess, the UNT team doesn't even shoot 2 free throws for practice. This is not good and will really hurt down the stretch if UNT can't get this figured out... Oh, yes, we'll be at the games both Thursday and Saturday this week...sure hope it OK with you guys that we take up a seat or two that we HAVE PAID FOR if we don't stand and yell the entire game. We are sorry that we "offend" your sense of "right and wrong" behavior for games. Will I need one hand, two or both hands and feet to count the number of students who turn out for the games? Disclaimer...this comment is not made towrd the loyal members of the PIT CREW who have my thanks and appreciation for the "racket" they are making this season...you folks are great...too bad that more of you couldn't make it to the games during the break. GO MEAN GREEN!

What? Me surprised???? Only that Vizza actually decided to laeve...I wonder how much input his parents had? Gee, you think?

I am getting very tired of the "attacks" on everyone on the forum....Meangreenbob was, in no way attacking Vizza....why come back with some attack on TD and Riley???? I just don't get it. If you are honest, you know Vizza did not have a great year last season...sophomore slump or what, i do not know. I expected him to come back in a big way in 2009 and have another great year. The kid is a very good...not great...QB, but kids who play in this type of system do rack up lots of passing yardage...it is to be expected....Vizza will go on to have a decent college career...no question about that, but he is now officially part of the past, and no longer part of the Mean Green nation...his choice...let's wish him well and see where 2009 takes the Mean Green. Come on...let's stop the "nastiness" on this forum and get on with moving the Mean Green forward...I am looking forward to a much brighter 2009 for the football loving Mean Green nation. GO MEAN GREEN!

This is a bit of a shock to me...and, yes, I too think of the word "quitter" when I read stuff like this...but, Vizza is not going to be a pro QB, so perhaps he wants to find "glory" where he can...or thinks he can! I think any player who cannot "buy into" their current coach and program should leave...where ever they are playing...to give those who do have a chance to play and not risk "cancer" in the locker room. Just look at the "mess" the Dallas Cowboys have become due, in large part, to locker room "stuff". So, perhaps all those who cannot or will not get their heads into the program as well as their athletic talents...and all the player's parents who are still living in the world of high school sports...should pack up NOW with Vizza and "hit the trail". I, for one, do not want to see any player or parent on next season's squad "complain" about Dodge or the program. Get on the team or get off...you can choose, and I truly wish everyone well who decides to leave, and I thank them for the time they spent at UNT. BUT, get with it or get gone...NOW! The program has plenty of challenges without having to deal with this issue. Until TD is not the head coach...get with the program or get gone. Time to move ahead...one way or the other. I have no problem with Vizz'a decision, other than my personal dislike for this sort of "jumping ship"...tough folks hang in there and do what they can to make things better...others...well, they leave. OK, there are many reasons for leaving, and each person makes their own choices...I give you that...and, please...I AM NOT CALLING Vizza a quitter...nor any other "name"...I wish him all the luck in the world...I just think it is time for EVERYONE to stop all the crying and get in or get out! 2009 should start NOW with everyone who wants to be part of UNT's program on the same page.... Good luck Vizza...."the king is dead...long live the king"! GO MEAN GREEN!

Deep Green...well said! The "fools" who think if you tax business it does not effect individulas is obviously a "liberal" with little/no knowledge of economics, etc. But, they will tell you all about "global warming" and some frog in the Amazon that is on the endangered list. Hell, American businesses ...small American Businesses..are on the endangered list. I don't hear the cry from the libs about that fact of life. And, small businesses in the US employ way more prople that BIG BUSINESS! Yep...lot's of change in Washington coming...if, of course, you think change is just bringing back a bunch of has been Clintonites!

Can't wait to see Army at Fouts...it will be a GREAT time...like the Navy game in 2007. Except this time UNT beats the service academy! I will say again and again...UNT needs to schedule the service academies...Navy, Army, Air Force...every time they can...and as often in Denton as possible. These guys recruit heavy in the metroplex and they bring fans...but most of all...THEY WILL PLAY IN DENTON!!!! and, to a pretty much full house too! GO UNT! BEAT ARMY!!!! (and anyone else for that matter...UNT needs some wins)

Let's Open Up A Little Can Of Worms, Shall We?
KRAM1 replied to oldguystudent's topic in Mean Green Football
WAC sucks as a conference for UNT. Is it better than the Sunbelt...sure, but still not good for UNT. Conference USA maybe a bit, but not much, better...I say UNT needs to work on a whole new conference...getting some teams together that can build some decent "hate that team" - "let's kick their you-know-whats" - playing partners...like how much fun it is to play SMU! Now, that's fun and can lead to some "interesting" pre and post game fun! Smack talk and all that.... We have all be through this before...more than likely won't happen...but why the WAC or C-USA? If we change, let's talk Big XII..... Go mean GREEN! -
Harry...nice job. For me, I think both RV and TD need to stay onborad and right this ship as far as on the field performance goes. I think RV has done a good job as AD...some of you must have VERY short memories regarding all the promises about facilities delivered by prior AD...none developed as promised. RV has delived on the facilities promises he made when he first arrived! I heard the promises in person and duly yawned and rolled my eyes thinking "here we go again"...well, no...the facilities at UNT have been greatly upgraded, and RV needs some credit for that. When TD was hired I was skepticak, at first, about hiring a HS coach...still do not think it is generally a good idea at a D-1 school...but, I soon jumped on the TD bandwagon and had a good 2007...2008...not so much! However, TD deserves 2009 to see where he can take the team...if 2009 is another step backwads on the field, thewn, OK, I am off the banwagon...but for now, I am 100% fine with keeping both RV and TD. Patience folks...patience...let's give TD the chance to show everyone that he has learned in his first two years and that he is, indeed, the man for the job at UNT. I do think he can do that...yes, I really do! GO MEAN GREEN!

Sad, if real...I have to be careful as I have "fallen" for GMG.Com "scam" postings in the past and have taken more than a little "heat" for it, so, I'll just say...seems to me this sort of thing is why UNT fans have a bit of a "who cares" reputation around the metroplex and maybe the state. Too many "fair weather" fans and grads. Grads who could "care less" about UNT after attending or graduating, too many "locals" who have no clue what the value UNT is to Denton and the surrounding communities and too many faculty and staff who do not support the school who provides their paycheck! Man, too bad...but...so it is...BUT, good news MEAN GREEN FANS...in spite of this guys "running"...good things are happening with overall support of UNT from alums, fans, the City of Denton and the faculty and staff. Sure, it's a bit slow for my liking in coming around, but the good news is that IT IS coming around...so, stay with the program...you WILL be rewarded and yes, in your lifetime! GO MEAN GREEN!

Did anyone else catch the "60 Minuets" piece on TV last evening about the DA in NY who is going for MURDER cahrges against drunk drivers involved in a fatal wreck? I certainly do not call this sort of thing an "accident" as the drunk drive was not drinking by "accident" nor did he/she have too many drinks by "accident"...this sort of thing is no accident...it is a choice...no, no one chooses to go out drive drunk and kill or severaly injure anyone...give me a break there, but they DO CHOOSE to drink and they do choose to over drink! I like a good beer as well as anyone...in fact the wife and I had a cold one at Hooter's this afternoon for lunch, and we are headed to Prague and Munnich this summer on an escorted Beer Trip...check it out at www.BeerTrips.com...BUT, one "chooses" to over drink...that is not an "accident". My prayers go out to both families...the family who lost a loved one in the wreck and the family who has probably "lost" a loved one to jail time! Hopefully, a long jail time! What a tragedy for both families. Sad, very sad!

Vito Blog On Current State Of Men's Basketball
KRAM1 replied to NT80's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Having missed the last two home games due to "family committments" over the holidays, I can only talk about what i saw before the last two games and what I have read in the papers...I agree with most of the comments here regarding defense...must step it up...play has been sub par at baest...and our "big guys" need to start playing their "size"...too many teams get easy inside baskets...and what happened to UNT's guard play??? Sophomore slump maybe? What gives??? I still believe there will be a good season at UNT this year...maybe not that 20 win season SOME of us (me) expected, but decent and a place in the tournament where any team can get hot and "magic can happen"....season has a long way to go as yet! GO MEAN GREEN...see you at Saturday's game! -
Good luck to Coach Dickey...why not wish him well? May not have been "the guy" to take UNT forward, but he did a decent job while here before he decided to stop recruiting and pretty much "stand pat" the last couple of years after winning the conference and going bowling. No hard feelings here...good luck Coach Dickey at New Mexico.

OK, I will admit right off the bat that I have not ead this entire thread, but, yes, the team will be better next season if only because the experience factor will be "up" for both players AND coaches...as far as the "RUMOR" of Vizza being pissed off...how about, if it is true, looking in the mirror Mr. Vizza, sir, and trying to figure out why you had the "so called" sophomore slump last season...TD may be calling the plays, but he is not ececuting them on the field. I really doubt that Vizza is pissed off at anything other than a really bad year of football....a competitor would be pissed off at the year UNT had...and that definitely is a good thing. Being pissed off at a bad year I mean. I definitely think the team will be much improved next season....and that, Mean Green Nation remains to be seen on the field next season. GO MEAN GREEN! Yes, Virginia, there are things to be positive about.

California SUCKS in so many different ways, and this ruling is just another indication that California has definitely "lost its way". One of the stupidest rulings of the year...maybe the century! EARTHQUAKE anyone? -
I wish Coach Drake and his family well and I hope he finds the position he is best suited for in the next few months...be it in Keller or elsewhere...nice comments from him upon leaving...now, i hope Coach Dodge goes out and gets an experienced college level coach as a replacement...it would help so much if Coach Dodge had "D1" level help on the sidelines in all the assistant positions.. Good luck Coach Drake, thanks for your efforts at UNT and your support for Coach Dodge... GO MEAN GREEN!

When And Where Does Club Baseball Play?
KRAM1 replied to oldguystudent's topic in Mean Green Athletics
nana21...where in the world have you been? Or, are you just trying to get me going again? Ha! The UNT 'should start a D1 baseball program" has been on and off this board for ages....and I alwys add my 2 cents worth in that...UNT SHOULD ADD MEN'S SOCCER FIRST....Ha! Just couldn't resist the opening to do that. Ho Ho Ho and GO MEAN GREEN!!!
