I continue to be amazed at the level of negativity expressed on this board. I truly hope folks are not as "negative" about all other aspects of their lives as they seem to be on this board. Hey, if you just step back a second you might notice things are looking better all the time at UNT. I know this board is the place for "comments" both positive and negative about UNT's teams, etc., but it seems some folks are here to take special exception to everything even remotely positive regarding UNT. I feel bad for this as the program overall is doing pretty darn well...look across the board at the whole athletic program and I think you will definitely see some very positive progress over the past 3-5 years, etc. GO MEAN GREEN...moving forward into 2009 and beyond...I see good things!

Its a beautiful day in the neighborhood.

Quoner...you have way too much time on your hands if you enjoy correcting spelling...really the errors folks "correct as spelling" on this bord are more often than not...typos by folks who can't type...oops...showing my age...can't keyboard very well.

Obama Sworn In Again
KRAM1 replied to UNTflyer's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Folks...get over it...the guy won! Too darn bad, but the guy won...and this was not the first time the oath was messed up and had to be re-taken. Give it a rest. The more interesting point might be why the press wasn't all over the "Boo-ing" of President Bush when he came out (just no class at all!) and why the press isn't doing investigative reporting on who paid for all of Mrs. Obama's clothes and what they cost and the clothes for the two daughters...aka Sarah Palin. Now, that's important stuff just like it was in the campaign. And, what part did President Obama play in the fact that the company that makes the suits he likes best filed for bankruptcy???? Man, we need to get to all this important stuff...just like in the campaign. Hmmmmmmmmmmm. -
Thanks Green Bat....how about beach soccer for the ladies? You should see some of the uniforms in that...actually PAINTED ON! Yep, you read that right... Very nice...but, really, beach vollyball as an NCAA sport? You have got to be kidding me. Are we that hard up for more women's sports???? Or, is this just a tactic to find another women's sport in suuport of Title IX so that maybe, just maybe some school can find a way to add a men's program? Hmmmmmmmmmm...you gotta wonder. I do like the uniforms, howver, that one sport might just generate enough revenue to pay for itself!
-
Tasty...you are going to get folks all fired up again with this baseball vs soccer thing if you are not careful...yep, that VVIP room has the real scoop!
-
Yep, all the women's sports sure generate a bunch of revenue....and, if you think baseball will come anywhere near even paying for itself...you have another think coming. While there will be a few...very few ticket sales...students will continue to get in with their athletic fee, etc....travel, field upkeep, scholarships, equipment, etc. will eat up much more than any small...very small bit of ticket revenue that would come as a result of adding baseball. To eliminate golf or CC or any other men's sport to add baseball is not a smart move. If baseball can be added while keeping all the existing men's sports...so be it. But, for me, I do not want to lose any sport to add another...especially one that will be so much more expense to maintain than the ones "cut". GO MEAN GREEN!

Just another in several off-season positive moves by UNT to address the program. Looks like a great hire...GO MEAN GREEN.

Dickey Falls In Man Love With Nc Winning Qb
KRAM1 replied to MeanGreenEagle's topic in Mean Green Football
Enough already about Dickey vs Dodge...old news and water now "way under the bridge". I wish Coach Dickey all the best at N Mex. (except, of course if he happens to be playing against UNT). Coach Dodge is "our guy" time to get behind him and see where he can take this program. Muich like our new president...I did not vote for the guy, but HE WON. He IS our president...all of us...so I'll give him my support and respect for the office...unlike that given to President Bush...but, folks...can we not just get past the Dickey/Dopdge thing and look forward to a better 2009 campaign? It never hurts to be positive and provide constructive support....it might surprise some folks what happens. GO MEAN GREEEN! -
Great to see some positive comments about what Coach Dodge is trying to do with the program. Also, nice to see another recognition that these kids are at UNT to get an education...first...and play football second. Perhaps some of the "I don't like the system" comments from both players AND parents that we have been hearing have something to do with the classromm emphasis???? Just wondering. This is GREAT news. I also think this sore of thing will help turn around the on-field performance as well. Kids will come to UNT KNOWING that education is a priority...that's always a good thing. Thanks TD and staff from making classroom performance a priority. I seem to recall TD saying as much when he first arrived. GO MEAN GREEN!

Wait...what? BREAKING news...does this mean that UNT is not the only program to "lose" players????? Wow...what a concept. Sorry, I know the sarcasm is sreaming through here, but it is a fact that programs lose players for various reasons during their "careers". This just points out that UNT is not alone. I have no idea why these players left A&M, but it just points out that this is something that happens... GO MEAN GREEN!

A decent pickup at DE and I am also hopeful that Harlan will join the class. I do think this is going to be a good to very good class for UNT and one that has the potential of filling some holes... I will keep my fingers crossed on Harlan...GO MEAN GREEN!
-
Not talking about hair here folks...this is a nice addition to Coach Hedlund's staff...not bad on the eyes either....and should help with recruiting having a "recent" grad talking to recruits. If she is half as good a coach as she was a player for UNT, it is a great day for the program. I suspect that it is! Nice...very nice! GO MEAN GREEN...now, when are we going to hire a coach for the UNT men's team?????

Coca Cola To Remake Classic Mean Joe Ad
KRAM1 replied to Green Means Go!'s topic in Mean Green Football
The real thing is still the best! -
This continues some "good news"...the stadium is a reality ... be it 2010 or 2011...it will be built. This is good news...spin it as bad news if you must, but I will not believing this is good news. I guess someone could give some folks a hundred dollar bill and that would complain that it was an "old bill" and they wanted a crisp new one. Good grief!

Folks, can we PLEASE cut out so much of the "chatter" and just plain "I'm trying to be funny" stuff? It gets to be a real drag trying to read through all that stuff to get to the topic at hand. Some, sure fine...makes for decent reading...but on and on...enough, Please! This is a good solid pick-up for Dodge and UNT. The recruiting class is looking better and better. Seems like a quality kid getting no playing time at OU and who saw a chance to play here. Sure, lots of WR's on the roster, but when you have the chance to pick up a quality player...you do it! Congrats to Coach Dodge and his staff for getting this guy signed and in school. Too bad we have to wait a year to see him play. Better a year late then never, right? Ask OU?

I would love to see...it must have been a monster!!!! Great win in Florida...the men are on a run just at the right time...keep it going! GO MEAN GREEN!

Super Bowl Champs
KRAM1 replied to NT03's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
On paper you pretty much need to go with Pittsburg...BUT Arizona just may have that "magic" going for them in the off season. Looks like it so far in the playoffs. How else could a 9-7 team end up playing in the Super Bowl? Good thing it's the Super Bowl or TV ratings might suck foer this match-up. No "big city" tie-in. Who cares...I hope Arizona wins, but...IF I were placing a bet, might have to go with the Steelers. I do think this could turn out to be a real knock-down-drag-out Super Bowl with the winner being decided late in the game. We'll see...stay tuned boys and girls! -
yep...good thought...I'll go with that!
-
I have been "interested" in Nathan Tune as a QB for a couple of years and have been wanting to see him get more playing time. A walk-on...good family and good kid...can play some QB too. Coach Dodge should give him some solid looks...I would have no problem going into the 2009 season with Nathan Tune as my #1 QB. But, he needs a shot to earn it...if he gets the shot and Riley or someone else really does win the job...so be it, but let's give everyone a shot. Personally, I do think that will happen. Just for the record...I have been hearing that Tuine was going to leave the team...then heard "why" and then heard that he was definitely staying...In checking it out a bit....still lots of rumores, but I do think you will see Nathan at spring practice for the Mean Green.
-
This recruiting season is turning out to be better and better all the time. Nice pick-up...I hope he actually signs. I think he will...but, then I am usually positive about this sort of thing. Team is looking better every day...keep it going!
-
Countdown continues...I hope we get number 1000 at home! GO MEAN GREEN.
-
Looks like a great pick-up...and, geee, he knows the team has been losing and he still wants to play for UNT! So, no excuses here...you know what you are getting yourself into at UNT...the opportunity to start building a winning tradition and a winning program. Build it now with guys that want to play here...nice...WELCOME TO UNT! GO MEAN GREEN! Hey, is it just me, or does this recruiting class seem to be shaping up as a decent one where UNT is getting some needed help? What do you think? Not bad at all for me at the moment.
-
Of course, Dr. B (if a true quote) would look to cut a men's program...what part of that idea do you not understand about "She who must be obeyed"????? Money is tight...I wonder about adding ANY sports to the budget at this time...including soccer...and I have already talked to several excellent coaches for a men's team...yes, UNT ties and all...interest is definitely there...but, again, this is probably not the time....
-
I think the entire University is going through a "learning curve" in its efforts to improve in many areas...including "customer communications". Instead of jumping on every little "oops"...let's see if we can't be supportive of the efforts made...they will definitely learn as they go and it'll get better and better. GO MEAN GREEN!
