It's amazing how so many of these folks who want to yell and scream about "other folks" seem to have a hard time taking care of their own house. These folks are quick to raise their own pay the second congress reconvenes, but they don't want bonuses to corp executives...they want to raise taxes on the wealthy and add an extra level of tax on corp bonus payments, but they don't pay their own taxes! AMAZING...simply amazing the double standard of many of our elected representatives...we have a Treasurary Sec. who can't seem to pay taxes, now this comes out! Yep, let's CHANGE the way things are done in Washington. Man, this is priceless. Throw all the bums out! Let's start completely over. If you have been in congress more thyan one full term...OUT! We need new folks...but folks who actually live under the rules they make! CHEATERS.....GO HOME! -
Yes, and one home game is Army!!!!!! Great fun! A packed house in denton too. If you want extra tickets, get them early. Also, isn't another home game set to be against Ohio U.? Might be another decent house for that one too. Sure will be nice to beat both Army and Ohio in Denton! GO MEAN GREEN!

Nice...got two players recognized (well deserved too) and ended at 15 in the region. With a little more luck UNT could have been in the top 10 in the region. I think this sets the stage for a very good season to come next. Congrats to Kelli and Kelsey and to the whole team and staff on the ranking. GO MEAN GREEN!

Kurt Warner wasn't invited to any combines either!

Looks like another good hire by Dodge and his staff. May be "older" than most at 60 or 61, but looks like a ton of experience at the college level. Welcome Coach Nelson and don't pay attention to all the negative "stuff" you read on GMG.com. UNT is a program heading in a positive direction. I am sure you can help lead us to many victories in season's to come...starting in 2009! GO MEAN GREEN!

Prbably posted before, but ONLY 10???? There are really too many to count! Some really good comments here on this TERRIBLE non-STIMULUS bill being proposed. Too bad our "elected representatives" don't seem to care that much. They probably "care", they just have no clue. I would venture to say, that most of the folks who will be voting on this package of Pork have 1) not read it and 2) care only for the Pork! Good Grief. Is this what has become of the US Congress?

Too much free time, so little humor. -
Correct...one bad decision does not define a man. If that were the case, we would probably all be in one "mell of a hess"! However, do these "kids" not realize that in this day of cell phone photography and texting that NOTHING is going to keep something like this from showing up? Just a little thought ahead of time might be the answer. You have so little less to "regret" when you do think first and act second. "young" does not excuse stupid behavior. I think Michael Phelps is a winner, and do hope this does not work against him or hurt all those younger kids trying to "be like Michael".

eulesseagle...you do know that greenjoe was doing that list "tongue in cheek", right? I am sure you do, but just for the folks out there who might not know.... More reasons to renew and buy season tickets: It's college football Cheerleaders and dance team members Being with lots of friends Meeting new friends Supporting YOUR school and the players Having a great time on a fall Saturday Tailgating...beer...food...friends...fun Being with the students (always fun to interact with UNT students)...it's always nice to see those great looking UNT co-eds...come on you "negative folks", say something bad about that...I dare you! Are you blind or what??? The UNT Band Meeting up with fellow GMG.com posters and seeing who they "really are"...this can be dangerous...but fun! It supports the program Etc. Etc. ETC. I could go on and on, but don't want to monoolize the topic here...come on add a few of yours...GO MEAN GREEN!

UGH. Must we enter this debate once again? It's illegal! Amazing how some folks just want to overlook that small inconvenient fact. Get it legalized if you want/can. Until then, it's simple. Don't do it. I would tell you not to do it even if it were legal...smoking anything is not good for your health. Dummy, don't do it! Do you think Phelps is sorry (after the fact) because it might, just might, have some effect on his endorsement deals? Just wondering. Too bad. I thought this was one athlete who really could make good decisions and had his act together. I know, this is not "too big a deal" and I do not want to make it into one either. But, did he not know it was a "regretable act" BEFORE he did it? You think? Always great to see how folks are so sorry...after the fact. Makes me think they are only sorry they got caught!

Got my renewal form as well...am definitely renewing and am trying to get a friend to get two seats beside us foor this next season. I think season ticket sales will be up over those of last year. Why not, it's college football, it's fun and you can "stake your claim" as a season ticket holder for seat allocations in the new stadium. I am sure there will be folks who won't buy or won't renew due to some preceived snub or because they think the Mean Green Club "donation" levels are too high, etc., etc. If that's the reason...great, you have found your excuse. But, it is time you thought about getting over it...like others have had to do. You either buy season tickets or you don't for whatever reason, but I would ask that everyone renew for 2009 and think about asking someone else to buy season tickets and go with you to the games. LIKE I SAID, it's college football, cheerleaders, dance team, band, tailgating, beer, food, students having fun, alumni having fun, UNT, etc., etc. It "ain't" all about the wins and losses! RENEW EARLY...be part of the Mean Green Nation at games this fall...GO MEAN GREEN! BTW...I just hung a UNT flag outside the house this weekend...looks GREAT!

Anyone want to guess which way I voted? As is often the case, a small group can hijack a movement or even GMG.com...just look at all the political "stuff" going on these days...global warming comes to mind, but to stay on task here, UNT has some very positive things going for it these days. I have been "around" UNT one way or the other since 1965, and in that time I have seen UNT come a long way and a positve way in its athletic and academic programs. If you judge things from an overall basis and have a bit longer view than 90 days out, then you can stay more positive. Sure, the losses add up and tend to take the shine off the excitement of what is happening, but wins will come (and sooner than many folks think I would predict). Seems to me that several of our athletic teams are currently building on winning traditions or starting winning traditions in their respective programs. Yes, we can all agree that the "major" sports of football and basketball and soccer...OK, leave out that last one for the time being have fallen on some harder times in the win area, but I think we will see a much improved football product on the field in 2009 and the men's basketball team is still in the fight for a good post-season run. We'll see...but, I will not fall into the "doom and gloom" camp...way too much more fun being positive. GO MEAN GREEN!

UNT is not the only "metroplex" or Texas school that "missed out" on this guy. We'll see how it goes. Only so many scholarships to go around. I guess you could say that UNT "missed out" on every kid from the DFW metroplex that signed with another school. I do hope Dodge and his staff are mining the local area hard...it appears that they are...but there are several advantages to recruiting local kids with the talent to play at UNT. One of which is the fact that they will usually help to fill a few seats at UNT home games! That's not a bad thing at all. GO MEAN GREEN! -
This will be a very tough test, but UNT can win the game If, and it is a very big IF indeed, the team plays hard on BOTH ends of the court, stops those ill-advised bounce passes in the lane, handles pressure, makes its free throws and overcomes questionable coaching moves. Hmmmmmmmm, does look like a tough road game. Let's hope this is the game that turns the Mean Green season into one to remember and sends them on their way to Hot Springs! GO MEAN GREEN

UNT90...do you include Brett Vito in your "insiders" list whom are not to be trusted with player evaluations? Just wondering. I think Brett certainly has an "emotional tie" to UNT. While I am not a Vito basher, I even chatted with him at one of Dodge's shows and told him that i enjoyed his work and to keep after it as it is not his job to be a "homer". That being said, I do think he has a bit of a "chip on his shoulder" when it comes to Dodge, and that does not help him keep his personal bias out of his work at times. Overall, I do think he does a good job and I enjoy reading his work.

Fake Lonnie...you are so very PC this morning. I am almost crying. It is so sad, and certainly has to be someone else's fault. certainly the kid could not have done ANYTHING to bring his grades up. It was all because he was from a hard working class family...maybe single parent even... who were so beaten down just trying to eke out a living in this tough tough world where everyone else has it so easy, that he was "lost" from the start. No personal responsibility here, right. Someone give me a rag to dry my eyes. I agree 100% that some folks come from backgrounds more conducive than others when it comes to understanding the importance of school, careers, learning, etc., etc. However, there are plenty of kids from very similar backgrounds as Tony Charles that "made it". Help is there if you seek it out and give it some "want to". I do not know Tony Charles or his personal situation, but to blame "society" for this kid's lack of academic progress is simply letting him (and those like him) off the hook way too easily. I wish him all the best and hope he finds the need to get some academic help and decides that it is important to his overall well being to be as interested in academics as he is football. Sure would have liked to have seen Tony "suit up" for the MEAN GREEN, but am very glad to have him "fall out" now than after enrolling at UNT. Lonnie...not trying to "jump your case" either, but sure seems like you want to take the PC road here. Why not some individual responsibility here? Just wondering.

Appitizers and drinks available for sale??? Or, is the athletic dept. doing a bit of comping for its fans? Just wondering and perhaps dreaming a bit...what say?

GREAT eye chart! Loved it! Yes, a couple of pretty bad calls by the refs...how about that non-travel call on Troy and then UNT heads down the other end and picks up a traveling call? Good Grief. BUT, while there were bad calls made, they WERE NOT the cause for UNT's loss last night. Chaulk it up to some questionable passing and decision making by the players and some...let's just say interesing coaching moves by Johnny and staff...and, perhaps the lack of leadership from the point guard position. I am not "jumping on the point guards", but that is where some leadership and discipline needs to start for any team. Just saying..... GO MEAN GREEN...On to HOT SPRINGS!!!!
