  1. I do not understand why these folks get into drugs in the first place. Makes no sense to me. No MOST former Cowboys do not get involved with drugs and NO Dan Reeves did not leave because of terry Gleen or a drug situation. I would suspect it was for the reason he stated...Jerry put a couple of items in his contract that he could not live with..I take Dan Reeves at his word on this. The point here is that yet another "high profile" sports figure has been involved with drugs! That is never a good thing. DUMB is as DUMB does! This is Dumb. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with his having once been a Dallas Cowboy
  2. Hey even Turbo Tax would have "caught" the fact that taxes were due! Only reason these folks are sorry is that they got caught...sort of like how sorry Michael Phelps is that he was "caught" with the bong! You think Phelps would have apologized and admitted his "youthful mistake" if he had not been caught? Not a chance! Yep, this is what I call bringing "integrity" back to Washington. You go Obama, I am interested in seeing some more of your "decision making"...oh, I forgot the SPENDING BILL you are trying to pass on on the public as a STIMULUS BILL! What a joke...a very bad one as it will saddle the nation with a great tax burden for many many years to come. But, there mat be hope...it was reported last evening on the news that only 38% of the nation "approved" of the tax and spend bill as it is currently written. Hmmmmmmm...do I see a "major defeat" for Mr. Obama this early in his term, or will he "announce victory" even after the bill is significantly changed? Can't wait to see. Well, gee, he did score that hugh victory by getting the switch to digital TV put off until June. I wonder who in the heck in this country was NOT aware of the switch and the date for it? The whole country waits on a few stupid folks who "don't get it" and will never be prepared for anything on time. Oh, I get it...it's the same folks who voted for him in the first place! OK, just kidding about that last comment.
  3. Congrats to Coach Hedlund and his team on another good signing day! UNT signed six (6) players yesterday...all of who look to be good selections who can come in and play and add some needed back-up to starters right away. Coach Hedlund continues to do a fine job. CONGRATS. GO MEAN GREEN!
  4. UNT can turn off the skid with this game, but they do need to get it going in the first half. Would be nice to see UNT "put away" some team early....I hope it's South Alabama followed by UL-La this Saturday evening. See you at the Super Pit Saturday evening...come on students...turn out in a big way and maybe we can win one when you do!!!! Everyone...if you have season tickets be there or do everything you can to get your tickets into the hands of someone who can make the game. If you are going...bring a friend or two who might just have a great time and come back on their own! Let's get a hugh crowd and make some noise!!!! GO MEAN GREEN.
  5. WOW! I sure hope "Travis" has nothing to do with the Pourhose other than going there for a meal and drinks. VERY poor judgement on his part if he is more than a customer. Both the Pourhouse and the Central Grill support UNT. I like (and frequent) both establishments. Denton is certainly big enough for both, and they certainly not located very near each other. I support those who support the Mean Green. I would hope everyone else would too! GO MEAN GREEN!
  6. Let me add to the group that enjoys the Central Grill and I find the owners very nice. Every time I go or my wife and I go, we are acknowledged and thanked for being there. The owners support UNT and that's a plus for me. I try to support the local businesses that support UNT, and the Central Grill certainly is in that group. I hope you will "re-consider" your stand...if not, just don't go, but stop your "personal campaign" against the place. That makes no sense AT ALL. The area needs all the small businesses it has and it needs the good ones to be successful. GO MEAN GREEN!
  7. And, there you go again! OK, so blog is not the "proper" word...but, what else do you have to do! This is too much fun!
  8. Nice to see some "positives" creeping onto the GMG.com board. Especially some grats to TD and his staff. They are working VERY hard to move the program in the right direction and toward a winning tradition. Thanks to all for the hard work. The class you have signed shows that what you are doing is paying off, and will, hopefully, add to a group of dedicated and hardworking Mean green athletes all on the same page and working together toward a common goal. GREAT...just great news today!
  9. Welcome to the newset members of the MEAN GREEN NATION. We are happy you are members of the "Nation" and look forward to seeing you play. I know you will have a great time at UNT. It's a great place to achieve academic and athletic success. But, make those grades a priority too. I want to see you for four years wearing the GREEN! Congrats...enjoy your day!
  10. Doen't matter AT ALL. I quit trying to figure Rivals out some time ago. Just ignore it. Who cares what they have to say about ranking recruiting classes anyway...unless you are a coach who has a contract up for renewal. Ha!
  11. Mathman...thanks for the "congrts" on UNT's recruiting class. I have not seen what SMU has done, but will be interested to see what is siad in the papers and on the news. I am sure June Jones had a good class signed. It is too bad that UNT and SMU cannot seem to get their respective acts together enough to sign a contract to play each other (home/away series) each and every year...add TCU to that mix too. What a great Metroplex battle that would be. When the new UNT stadium is built maybe it can happen. Anyway, good luck to "your guys" and thanks for the kind words. GO MEAN GREEN!
  12. If you have to have a skill to get a job, I assume you are unemployed Quoner? Just kidding. And, no. Diagramming sentances was a pure waste of time on me! Sucked then and suck now! Is anyone is still playing that game of boredom in school? BLOGS are just that...blogs. In my opinion, not places to worry in the least about grammer, spelling, sentance structure and the like. But, if you are compulsive or annal enough to care about it in blogs...go for it. If that "floats your boat", have at it. The two or three folks on the board who "care" about such will enjoy your efforts. Enjoy, as I am sure I will give you tons of ammunition. Just remember...it's a great day to be a member of the Mean Green nation!
  13. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
  14. GREAT to have six games at home this year...I just hope we do not have a home game on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. That, folks, is not a good "home date" for UNT based on pruior year's experiences with attendance, tailgate attendees and even weather! I am keeping my fingers crossed. Man, will that Army game on the 21st of Nov. be a fun time at Fouts!!! Greatness, just greatness...like the Navy game a couple of years ago. Can't wait! The Denton Alums are palnning on selling a "spirit" T-Shirt fopr that game like they did for the Navy game...at least there is initial discussions...wait for it and buy it!!!! GO MEAN GREEN!
  15. I agree with the thought that this is looking like another good class for Dodge and UNT. Filling some "need" and adding to skill positions. This class will help with some depth at key areas also...I am hopeful. Good day for the Mean Green! Way to go T Dodge, staff, players, RV, etc., etc. It takes a good deal of team effort to get these guys to sign, and it appears the "team" is working well. Go get 'em! GO MEAN GREEN!
  16. No it is not! It is after noon somehwere! Golf had been left to "wonder" when it would again get into a position to regain its position as a leader in collegiate golf. That's what...I know you were needing badly to know.
  17. Good News All! It's looking like a very good day for UNT!
  18. TAKE THAT...all ye of so little faith! Now, just maybe some...some of the negative "stuff" on this board will start to fade away....you have to believe! Great pick-up, but as has been said...many look great on signing day! This is VERY good news for the MEAN GREEN NATION...good things are happening for the Mean Green on signing day!
  19. My wife and I had the pleasure last evening of representing the Denton Chapter of the UNT Alumni Association at the annual scholarship reception for both donors and students last evening at the Gateway Center. It was a great evening, and we were honored to be in attendance. The Denton Chapter has recently endowed an academic scholarship for deserving students graduating from a Denton County high school, but has for many years provided scholarships as part of its mission and focus. We are proud that our efforts have grown to the extent that we endow a scholarship. The evening showed how very critical it is to continue to donate to scholarship funds at UNT. We met some great students, many of whom would not have been able to attend UNT without scholarship money to help pay the way. All are really performing in the classroom and many already have big plans to "give back" to UNT upon graduation. This is what it is all about. I hope everyone has a chance to meet some of thje scholarship students from time to time. If you do, take the time to talk with them and hear a bit of their story. Amazing kids...one in attendance last evening was the first to graduate from HIGH SCHOOL in the family...HS...not just first to go to college, and the family indicated "why go to college, you just graduated from HS, that is enough"! Wow, what a kid to press on with college, and, obviously, gets no family support financially (and I doubt emotionally either after the lack of encouragement to go to college at all). Folks, if you can, open your pocketbooks and give to a scholarship at UNT. Trust me, you will really be making a difference in the lives of students who represent our future. The evening just made me realize evn more how so very many good things are happening at UNT these days. WOW, what a great bunch of quality kids and students. I am so gald to be part of their lives. GO MEAN GREEN! Support students with scholarship dollara...you will be glad you did!
  20. One in "the house"...more to come. It's a great day to be part of the Mean Green Nation. Go Mean Green. Sign 'em up!
  21. Nice...shouldhelp UNT regain its winning ways in golf. UNT has a great "tradition" in golf that has been left to "wonder" in recent years...this may bring back the "bling"! Looks like a great choice. So, is this yet another thing that is going "positive" at UNT? Yes, it is! Be still my heart!
  22. Star Ratings mean so very little in the overall development of a college palyer. I trust that our coaches are doing the best they can to attract players who can help UNT win. I'll look at their "star ratings" after they complete their careers at UNT. Many All-Americans were originally walk-ons and "lower" star rated kids. Playing at the college level is so very different than playing at the high school level that things can change for players overnight. Some can handle the transition better than others. Let's see how this calss turns out over time. Go get 'em UNT! GO MEAN GREEN!
  23. Green Mean...do you really think folks on this board are NOT aware of UNT's record the last two years? Give it a rest. Those seasons are OVER and gone. Time to look forward and move forward. If you cannot "see" any good things happening in the program you are simply not looking and destined to "look back" for the duration. Try a more positive approach...it will not hurt at all, I promise. And, before anyone jumps my case...I KNOW UNT's record of wins and losses the last two years and I am not "sticking my head in the sand" and ignoring the OBVIOUS...yes, Green Mean and others...it is obvious to all...I simply choose to "see" what is going on to help bring more wins. And, that my skeptical friends is exactly what is going on. Everyone related to the program is working their buns off to try to improve on-field results. 2009 will be a much improved season for the Mean Green.. Book it Danno! GO MEAN GREEN!
  24. When the government says anything about "helping you" cover your rear and duck because you are about to get something stuck up you that you do not want. Government "help" is one reason our last serious recession turned into what is now called the "GREAT DEPRESSION". Seems, my reasearch shows the economy was starting on an upswing BEFORE FDR launched his massive government bailout that drove unemployment figures through the roof. Bear in mind that as of right now 92% of all mortgages in this country are being paid on time and as agreed! Never has 8% of anything been the blame for so many ills!!!!! The "non-stimulus" package is a mess of the highest order...PORK and more PORK...most of which has absolutely NOTHING to do with stimulating the econmoy or getting folks back to work. UGH...a complete mess! Don't confuse "social engineering and pet projects" with economic stiumlus! This is OBama PAYING BACK HIS "FRIENDS" WHO PUT HIM IN OFFICE AND CATERING TO A BUNCH OF FOLKS WHO REALLY HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE OF ECONOMICS AT ALL. It's payback time on the backs of all American taxpayers for years and years to come. Can this snowball be stopped? I doubt it, so hold on to your rears!
