  1. CBL...sorry...that last post was not meant as a response to your post.
  2. That was not pricelss by the way.
  3. Actually, free tickets for Cumberland Children's Home residents, elementary school honor roll students, senior citizens, etc. Not a bad idea. Why not? They could be for upper level seating that has gone empty all season. Heck, if Boone Pickens can pay part of the price for OSU students to attend the OSU-Texas game Saturday why not some freebies for this Wednesday's UNT game? I know...how about free tickets for UNT students? That should bring 'em out by the thousands! GO MEAN GREEN!!!! Beat FAU!!!!! Rah...Rah!! Mean......Green......Mean.....Green!
  4. There is no doubt that McCoy has been leading the way recently and good things seem to happen when he is on the floor. I do wonder why he was not on the floor more earlier in season...perhaps he had an injury or simply was not executing in practice or something. Don't know, but I do know he is playing extremely well at just the right time. Fun to watch him play! I hope he lights up the nnets on Wednesday at the Super Pit! GO MEAN GREEN!
  5. Quoner...PRICELESS...Loved it! I was waiting to see who would be 1st up in response and am so very glad it was you. Priceless, simply priceless...well done...expected...but, well done none the less! BTW...I NEVER said my HS career was GOOD...go back and read the post. A HS career to forget would be more like it. Thus, the empathy for hard working walk-ons which some folks feel are somewhat "less" than special. Good morning to you! Well done.
  6. Anyone see the OSU-Texas game on TV Saturday evening? Students packed the place. I also read that T. Boone Pickens picked up a good bit of the cost for the student tickets so more students would attend. Interesting to note that students do have to buy tickets for OSU athletic events. I recall I did so when I was a grad student at OSU, but the cost was reasonable. They do it because there is more demand for tickets than available seating. I get that,. And, I get that OSU plays in the Big XII as opposed to the Sunbelt. BUT, for the life of me, I can't figure why that should make such a difference at UNT. With a student popukation the size of UNT's the old adage that UNT students are "different" or that they come here for "different reasons" simply doesn't hold water any longer. Some do come for different reasons and atre different types of students, but out of 33-35,000???? Come on, that EXCUSE #1, and lets the students off way to easily. Sunbelt or Big XII, more students should be attending than currently are doing so. So, if all the reasons given are correct, what can UNT do to reverse the trend? Yes, there are the usual ones...bigger conference, better teams at home, win more...but besides those...can anything be done? I honestly don't know. Why do the Pit Crew members show up and do such a good job while other students simply "couldn't be bothered"? Don't know...seems like it would make a good master's thesis for someone.... GO MEAN GREEN. See you at the Super Pit Wednesday!!!!
  7. Nice stuff from the Star-Telegram. All this and somehow they didn't even mention our football record over the past two years!!! Be still my heart! GO MEAN GREEN. EVERYONE...if you possibly can...GET YOURSELF (and your family and friends) to the Super Pit WEDNESDAY for the game and let's MAKE SOME NOISE and send the team to Hot Springs and victory in the tournament!!!! GO MEAN GREEN!
  8. Once again the "Look at me I am cute" folks take over and the poor guy who starts the thread gets no real response to his question. Too bad, but at least the "look at me" folks got their time in the sun once again. OK, sorry, I have to admit that I enjoy some of the "stuff" these guys post, so am not advocating they stop, just asking for a little consideration and decorum at times. I happen to agree with the idea that we should use Coach Dodge, Riley Dodge, TD, RD, Riley, etc. when referring to our head coach and one of our QB's. However, I do not think the idea will get much traction. Just review the previous responses and you will see why. Keep on posting meangreenrob, but don't look for any real thought in some of the responses. It's OK as it is all good fun, you just have to know what's coming and accept it for what it is and enjoy what you get. Some folks just seem to need more attention than others. I'll bet they had the class laughing on a consistent basis all the way through elementary to high school. Man, how would you have likied to have been the teacher? Come to think of it, my teachers had a tough go at times too. Imagine that?
  9. WOW...I had no idea. Way to go Nathan Tune! Glad you figured out what was going on, health-wise, and very glad that you decided to stay with the team. You are correct in your comment about having so much invested in this team and your fellow players. You can help lead this team. Great to find out that your health has returned and that you are set for the challenge. This is VERY good news for the MEAN GREEN NATION. As I have said...I think the QB position at UNT will be in good hands in 2009! GO MEAN GREEN!
  10. I like it! Looks to me like UNT has a good shot at moving along in the tournament. Great to see us get FAU...UNT earned it the old fashioned way...they WON! Nice win in Denver yesterday. Way to go Mean Green. GO MEAN GREEN! HOT SPRINGS OR BUST!!!!!
  11. Lifer...sent you a PM...many thanks.
  12. Yes, and while we are at it...wouldn't a more positive spin from some of our fellow "the sky is falling" folks on this board be in order in light of the new class, the coaching changes, the experience level of the head coach and the fact that several "not so interested" players have left the team? Time to have some fun because "there is always next season" is now here! GO MEAN GREEN!!!!
  13. Bill Maher is an IDIOT! It's sad that reporters like Paul harvey are gone and we are left with IDIOTS like Bill Maher...the guy is nothing but a hack! Why waste your time on theis guy. In the immortal words of GreenGuyBass..."Who Cares?"
  14. Paul harvey will be missed. It's too bad that more of today's "media stars" are not more like Paul Harvey. The "rest of the story" is that he will be badly missed. RIP Paul Harvey. Thanks for the memories.
  15. I just had the feeling you had a link to Greenpeace in there somewhere! Woodstock lives! How does one spell "cum by ya"? Really, I don't know!
  16. Sarcasm or not, UNT is just fine with the QB's it has for several years. There are higher priorities than the QB spot...such as OL and DL. OL and DL are looking better and should be much improved this year, but I still think UNT is a bit "thin" at those positions and could use some help...The game tend to be won or lost in the trenches, and it will be nice to see a much improved "trench warfare" this year from both sides of the ball. I am looking forward to watching how this goes in 2009 for the Mean Green. I think it will go much more the Mean Green's way this year!!! Go get 'em...GO MEAN GREEN!
  17. So, Green P1...question...if the student turnout were cut in half...would anyone notice????? A 50% reduction from what we have now relative to the size of the student body would hardly be noticed. The only student turnout on a game to game basis worth mentioning is our GREAT PIT CREW!!!! Hats off to the core members of this great group of students. It's a real shame that more UNT students don't have enough pride in their university to make the effort...what little effort need be made...to attend the games. THANK YOU PIT CREW...you are the GREATEST. Try to hijack at least one other student each and bring them with you to the game Wednesday at the Super Pit. Go Mean Green!!!
  18. Obama mentioning that the auto was invented in America was NOT semantics in any stretch of the immagination...he was just plain WRONG! Where is the main stream media jumping all over that as they did when Mr. Bush erred? Go figure. Anyway, I am looking forward to watching the Mean Green win Wednesday evening at the Super Pit, and sure hope we have the largest crowd of the year...we should. GO MEAN GREEN!!!!
  19. Here's something I have been wondering about when it comes to the incredibly POOR turnout of UNT students for athletic events. Does the fact that students get in "free" work to the detriment of a larger turnout? Now, before you dismiss this out of hand and before you chime in with "students actually do pay for tickets with their athletic fees", I ask that you think about it seriously for a bit and then reply. I have been to other colleges where students also pay a general athletic fee, but then have to purchase tickets to games. Yes, there were fewer seats available to students at these schools and the attendance was a "must do" for students...both seemingly not the case at UNT. But, would students, if they had to pay something for the actual ticket/passes see more "value" in them and thus put more effort into actually attending? Is this a case of "if it's free it cannot be worth much" going on at UNT? If not a "pay" system (yes, at a discount cost of course) would having students make the effort to obtain a student football pass, then a basketball pass, and the an "all other sports" pass do any good in adding some "valuse"? Here the student would have to make the effort to go get the pass/passes, so pperhaps making the effort to do that would incent them to actually show-up for the games? I certainly don't know the answer, but was mentioning this to another member...a great member at that...of the Mean Green Nation recently and we could not come up an answer to this. So, I ask here for the guidance of my fellow and esteemed GMG.COM posters! What do you think?
  20. Dare I mention that Hank Dickenson referred to the game as a "play in game" on the radio broadcat of the Ark. St. game last Thursday evening. No, I really shouldn't as some folks might take offense and start this who symantics thing all over again. OK, my real reason for posting on this thread once again is to simply remind everyone that tickets are on sale and folks need to get their tickets and get to the Super Pit on Wednesday for the game. Students...please come and please bring your friends...GREEKS...can you folks get a turnout going for this one? Other athletes...how about coming out and supporting your fellow Mean Green athletes...it would be a great show of support. BESIDES...students get in FREE! Townies...get off the sofa and get to the SUPER PIT. It will be a great evening! A big fan turnout could really help make the homecourt advantage a REAL home court advantage...let's get it done and get on to Hot Springs. GO MEAN GREEN!!!
  21. Coffee and TV...I just have to ask...are you a member of Green Peace by any chance? Yes, recycled paper for toilet paper use seems to be the most recent whacko idea to save trees! Do they realize that the trees used for TP are fast growing and not the lovely Oaks and other hardwoods that may well be worth saving? Yep, that's the way to save the earth...hard and scratchy TP. Forget that carbon footprint stuff...let's get really serious and and save the earth with recycled TP. Hey, how about we do away with TP entirely and use our left hands to wipe??? You know, like some of the more "civilized" folks around the world. You just have to love it. Saw this on a news show recently...it was really good for a big laugh. And, before some of you throw me under the bus for these comments...I am a big fan of recycling and do a good bit of it myself around the office and home. But, I just find it amazing how far some of these folks want to take everything these days. Aluminum foil hats for all!
  22. Deep Green...many thanks. In fact my wife is taking a couple of foreign visiting UNT professor types to Nasa for a tour as they LOVE space stuff and can't wait to see Nasa. This might be just the place for lunch/dinner with them. many thanks for the help. GO MEAN GREEN
  23. OK, I know some of you guys live in Houston or at least the Houston area. My wife is going to be in Houston early next month for a conference. The conference hotel is the Marriott near Hobby airport on Gulf Freeway (ugh, as I recall not the best of locations). But, she is looking for some "dinner" to set up some dinners with friends and associates. If you have some thoughts on he matter...leave me your ideas here...or you could certainly PM me...I would appreciate some of your expert advice. Thanks.
  24. Green P1...you are talking about the President of the United States here...show some respect for gosh sakes! Such language...
  25. Lifer, are you trying to "kick a sleeping dog" here and wake me up with some more soccer postings?
