  1. Glad to see that you are your same positive self! Always nice to know that everything is in its rightful place. I happen to think that playing on campus is a much better deal than some off-site location. I recall the games when Texas Stadium was the Mean Green's home field. While I have some very nice memories of some big UNT wins at Texas Stadium, the atmosphere of on-campus stadiums is very hard to beat. And, with UNT building that new stadium I would definitely give UNT the edge in stadiums. As far as cities...I enjoy San Antonio, but prefer to live in Denton. It was a great place to raise our thhree kids, etc. As to coaches...yea, Coker has a national championship...good for him, but hard for me to believe he will do it again in San Antonio. While a national championship for UNT may not be on the horizon soon...winning IS. Would Coker be a nice coach for UNT, maybe? But, I'll stay with Dodge for awhile. I think 2009 will see the start of some nice seasons for the Mean Green with Dodge as head coach. If San Antonio and Coker are your thing, great...go for it. But, don't forget to but you Mean Green season tickets! GO MEAN GREEN!!
  2. This is very good news....good things ARE happening at UNT!
  3. So, I was there to witness the win...a couple of the best dunks by Odufawa and McCoy I have seen all year...nice win...sloppy down the stretch, but a win is a win, and it's off the Hot Springs! Way to go. BUT, was anyone else as disappointed as I was in the turnout for the game? I thought it was really low for the game..student turnout was terrible as was townie, faculty/staff, etc., etc. Too bad...should have had at least 5,000 for this one. Congrats to the men and the women on their wins. Too bad YOUR student body and alums do not appreciate you enough to actually show up for this game! THANKS so much to the students, fans, alums, faculty/staff who did show up. You guys rock! ON to Hot Springs...GO MEAN GREEN!
  4. Would those be the same students who claimed they did not know about the stadium vote and are signing petitions for a re-vote?
  5. Priceless....and only fair!
  6. You certainly have a very interesting book. Does it include other made up definitions?
  7. Sure, check with Quoner. He seems to be a fairly creative sort of guy.
  8. I simply do not understand why some folks on this board seem so "down" on Riley, and post negative comments about him and/or Coach Dodge every chance they get in relationship to the QB position. I don't get it. Is there some sort of jealous thing going with some folks or what? What has Riley done to elicit such comments, and why are some folks so "hung up" on the fact that Riley's Dad happens to be his head coach? Usually a potential starting QB is held in fairly high regard by memebrs of the fan base. Were SLC fans jealous of Riley and the fact that Riley was the head coach's son? It seems some folks would like nothing better than to see Riley fail. I fully expect that the better QB will play be it Riley, Tune or someone else. I also fully expect to see a good QB battle during spring and fall practices. Why would folks who call themselves Mean Green fans want any...ANY...player to "fail"? Wouldn't that be bad for the Mean Green? The attitude some folks have on this board toward both Coach Dodge and Riley is puzzling to me, and seems to be so out of place if one were a fan of the Mean Green. GO MEAN GREEN! Buy season tickets...
  9. PLEASE...don't let an NBA game deter you from being part of the crowd at the Super Pit. You did see what Oklahoma City did to the Mavs last night, right? Does anyone think the Mavs game will be anything but another loss? They are playing in San Antonio, right? Even if in Dallas, "who cares"? When it comes to a choice of watching the Mavs (under achievers that they are) on TV or the MEAN GREEN in person in a game where a win gets them to Hot Springs there should be no choice. If you can make it to the Super Pit, please make every effort to do so...BIG CROWD NEEDED. APPLY IN PERSON! As EagleD said...take a radio, if you must, to the Super Pit... GO MEAN GREEN!
  10. Yep....I think there is plenty of blame to go around on both sides. Republicans certainly "lost there way" over the last few years and that led directly to the election of Mr. Obama and a majority of Dems in the House. Republicans get 100% of the blame for that!
  11. GreenP1...I can definitely see that. You have hit upon something here...if that is the case...probably is...then how does the university change the attitude once a student enrolls? Is it "win and they will come"? If so, why the low basketball turnout, or is it just the "way it is and always will be?" I do think UNT could do a much better job of building school spirit, but, perhaps until it becomes a "thing to do" attendance from the student body will remain pathetic given the numbers of students enrolled. Yes, oldguystudent, I saw that "get in, get out, get paid" attitude when I was working on my MBA at UNT. You think that attitude has anything to do with the nice "mess" we find our economy in these days? Hmmmmmmmmm.
  12. OH, cool...sorry I missed that...OK, be there for WIN NUMBER 1001 Wednesday at the Super Pit. Way to go Mean Green...congrats on win # 1000...ON TO 1001!!!! GO MEAN GREEN! Thanks CMJ.
  13. Glad to see the email "head's up". Thanks to Jeff Kline, but is this all that can be done...an email? Maybe so. I hope for a BIG turnout of fans...townies, students, DFW Metroplex alums, etc. Wednesday night. A big crowd will make a nice statement and a show of support for the Mean Green. Let's send the team to Hot Springs in a BIG WAY with a LOUD and LARGE CROWD!!! Go Mean Green!
  14. UNT gets number 1000 tomorrow at the Super Pit, right? BE THERE!!!! GO MEAN GREEN!
  15. And, I find it amusing that EagleD never fully reads a post. Can you show me where I said I was a Rush fan? A little "holier than thou attitude" from you, Mr. EagleD.
  16. Yep, we were promised change...this is a good chunk of "change", wouldn't you say. CHANGE IS A COMMIN'....that's a change to more debt, higher taxes and more entitlement spending. No change to "pork" and no change to who has to pay for all this crap! Don't you just love all the "changes" so far? Too funny!
  17. In case you haven't noticed, Rush Limbaugh is NOT president of the United States! And, for the record...I have never been a Rush fan!
  18. Avoiding taxes is fully acceptable and legal behavior. Evading taxes is illegal. There IS a big difference between the two. In Ron Kirk's case, I am not so sure it falls in the same catagory as the "others" we have seen lately. However, I do have one question to ask... DO HIGH PROFILE DEMOCRATS HAVE TO PAY TAXES??????? Just wondering. This is getting to be a recurring them. I do not recall such tax "challeged" folks being nominated under former President Bush. This is just some nice comic relief for all of us who actually do pay our taxes.
  19. How can you say that about Babe when we have so many other local radio/tv guys to choose from for this honor?
  20. Yes you do, you know you are a closet soccer guy. You just aren't ready to come out yet. Don't worry, I won't tell.
  21. Very Nice indeed!
  22. And where is GreenGuyBass to utter his immortal "who cares" as folks roll on about their mighty HS football careers? Personally, I find it quite exciting to see that Quoner beat up on the Ryan QB on more than one occasion, that 97 and 03 is a GMG.COM bowl stud, and that Green P1 notched a couple of great safties during his HS career. You guys ROCK! I'll hire all three to coach! GO MEAN GREEN!
  23. GreenP1...interesting observational data. Hardly scientific, but interesting none the less. What was your major? I wonder if this attitude is "major" related? I have often felt as if the music, art, drama, etc. students were "less than interested" in most any type of campus organized activity, but I do think there may be many exceptions to my observations within the ranks of our music, art, drama, etc. students. It may be completely unfair to say one major or another leads the "I don't care crowd". So, I guess what you are saying is that it has nothing to do with the conference affilitaion or the won-loss record. It is just that UNT students in general "don't do athletics"? Interesting. Anyone else share this view? If that is the majority view, is UNT destined to always have low student turnout?
  24. Don't forget Pearl and Lone Star beers! OK, maybe a Shiner beats both. Can you still find Pearl and/or Lone Star? Used to be pretty inexpensive back in the day. Point is...go get a couple of cold ones and celebrate TEXAS INDEPENDANCE DAY!!!! Happy Birthday Texas!
  25. GreenP1...just wondering. Where did you get the data that the "majority of our student body came here in part because they don't 'give a flip' about sports"? Is there research on that "fact" somewhere or is it just personal opinion based on observation? I definitely would like to see the data of that if it exists some where.
