So, that goes for Mac Brown and UT's spring game too, right?
-
Nope, Lonnie has been in this mode for some time now. Riley could throw 6 TD's in the opening game this fall and UNT could win BIG and Lonnie would still think Riley and Coach Dodge are terrible. Hey, no problem as long as he donates to the new stadium and buys season tickets. You put up your $$$ and you get your say. It's just too bad some folks can't find something to like once in awhile at least.
-
My apologies...I posted this same quote on the thread "Not Impressed" this moring along with some comments from a friend who watched the UT spring game. Did not see you had already posted...
-
OK, before someone else does...I'll say that Riley was not recruited as a QB by UT. That IN NO WAY lessens his value to UNT as a QB nor does it say ANYTHING about his skills at the QB position. This kid knows how to win and he knows how to lead a team from the QB position. I do not think UNT has much to worry about at the QB position with Riley and Tune at #'s 1& 2. GO MEAN GREEN!

Interesting note in today's DMN about UT's spring game...I quote; "While the defense had help from winds gusting to 30 mph, a vanilla offensive game plan and several drops, McCoy was 11-of-24 for 95 yards. In 39 career games, he's completed fewer than 50 percent of his passes only once". Sound familiar to what we saw Saturday? I'm just saying...it was, after all, the spring game. I attached the quote just to let some folks see that UNT is not alone in how the spring game goes. I have a friend who lives in Austin and went to that spring game...he said lots of folks were grumbling about how plain jane the offense looked and how bad McCoy looked. Some were ven complaining about the head coach! can you imagine that? Oh, and he did say, the defense looked a lot better than the offense...I think that is to be expected in the spring game. Saw some of that in Denton on Saturday too. Folks, several key offensive players were out of the game...Outlaw, and our 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th running backs to mention just a few.

North Korea Launched Missile
KRAM1 replied to UNTflyer's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
NOPE...more of a real hard economic embargo...no aid of any kind what so ever. NONE, and we try to get the Chinese to play along. Hugo Sanchez and Venezuela can try to send all the aid...maybe Cuba too, but the "big boys and girls" should play economic hardball with aid and finances. But, I am sure Mr. Obama's idea of how to be tough on them will be to not let them have any sugar with the tea they serve when they sit down and talk about it. Those North Koreans are so very true to their word you can trust them. NOT! We'll see. They are still reported to be years away from being able to actually deliver a nuke. -
North Korea Launched Missile

It will be interesting to see the next move...Mr. Obama stated that such actions have consequences. So, we'll see about that in the next few days. I'm thinking the "consequences" he is thinking about is asking the North Koreans to sit down and "talk about it". -

That wasn't Obama dressed like Jesus????? -
My point exactly. Had a great time watching some spring football and enjoying the stadium tailgate announcement. If you went to the game expecting to see the "offense" for the fall you weny away "unhappy". Too bad. Sure it was a bit "off" the way things developed, but there were some really nice hits being given and the defense did show some nice things. I was looking for that snap from under center! Ha! My wife and I had a very good time being part of this event...sorry some folks expected more than what a spring game normally delivers. having graduated from three different universities and attending fourth, I've seen a few spring games at different places in my time...they are always a bit "strange" in my opinion. So, I go to enjoy being there and being part of the day...it's fun. I never expect much in the way of "new and exciting" from a spring game. GO MEAN GREEN!

UNT2012. That's quite a rant you have going there against both Riley and Coach Dodge. Too bad your view of the program seems to be so clouded by your disdain for the Dodge's. My guess is that there is more to your story than you care to admit...seems you must have some sort of personal agenda going. Too bad...it was a great day to be at Fouts to watch the spring game and to hear the stadium news. Sure, it was "interesting" that none of the QB's were "hit", but UNT is not the only university that does that in the spring game. If you have been to many spring games...with different universities...you will see a very wide array of how these games are handled. If you went...I assume you were in attendance...and expected this to be a full contact game, well, you were mistaken and will be again if you think spring games are always full-contact all out "reral" games. I was a tad unhappy that the offenses did not score more...may a long pass or two, but the wind and format did play a factor. Saw some very good things on the defensive side of the ball which "warms my heart" a bit going into the fall. UNT will see some new faces in that fall, and the competition for positions will heat up anew. Stadium announcement was very well handled...I thought...and there should be no doubt now that the stadium is one the way. Hopefully, the Mean Green Nation will be watching the 2011 opening game in the new stadium. That does seem to be the plan and the timeline. I'll be donating...I hope everyone here will do the same. GO MEAN GREEN.

So, Shaft...I suspose the cry from the "doubters" will now be "win and I'll get involved" now that the stadium is announced and moving forward publicly, right? Take one "reason" away and they seem to find another why they will not support the program with their $$$$ or time. RV told the MEAN GREEN NATION that a new stadium would be built...IT IS! No doubts there any longer. Take away one excuse and they find another. You just can't win with some folks, I get that. Too bad. Today will be a great day for those members of the MEAN GREEN NATION who do believe the program is moving forward. RV, Prez B, Coach Dodge and many others will have every right to be smiling broadly today. Way to go UNT! Come out to the spring game tailgate today and doubt no longer about the new stadium. It's a GREAT DAY for the Mean Green. GO MEAN GREEN!

It certainly looks like UNT will be just fine at the receiver position....I think, after watching him at practice...that Outlaw will be a very exciting player for the Mean Green. Good to see the report. Thanks.
-
This should be a great day to be part of the MEAN GREEN NATION....I sure hope the turnout is a good one for the tailgate and the game. For all the "Doubting Thomas" folks out there, I sure hope this helps get them "on board". I am keeping my fingers crossed. Paper said that several folks have already made pledges of $1,000,000 or more. In this economy, that does seem like a good start. I wonder how many "several" are in this case. GO MEAN GREEN!!!!

She must have posted something on GMG.Com!

See you at the Spring game...GO MEAN GREEN!

A Day At The G20 In Pictures
KRAM1 replied to UNTflyer's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Consumers suck????? So, these folks "consume" nothing? I dare say...just how do they survive? People with "no clue" often resort to mass hysteria as they have "no clue" how better to attempt to get their point across. Do these folks have a point in the first place? If one were to engage these folks in any sort of serious and factual dialogue, they would probably end up looking like a "deer in headlights". GET A JOB and do something worthwhile for a change...Geeeezzzzz. Louise...I wonder whose "dime" is paying for their chosen "lifestyle"???? Just saying....well, perhaps just wondering. Lost in their own nothingness! I do think many of the group probably do all their protesting because they just like to "cause trouble". Often, mobs have a life and "mind" of their own...the clueless led by no one with no eartly knowledge of why they do what they do. Really pitiful bunch...get a life and do something positive with it. Good grief. -
Gratulations Florida Gators

Gee, which side of the aisle does she sit on, I just wonder????? -
That's the one...I just couldn't remember the title...great read...I recommend it to EVERYONE on this board. If you have not read it...go buy it and read it. Great read...fun...and makes a great deal of sense too! Thanks again, hickoryhouse. BTW..."hickoryhouse"...does that have anything to do with the Hickory House restaurant that used to be in Denton? University Dr. When I was in HS here the Chicken Fried steak plate was great and sold for 79 cents. had good "other stuff" too. I think the place is now a Double Dave's Pizza joint.

NOPE...don't carry. But, I am in 100% favor of the conceled handgun license. In fact, I don't own a gun of any kind. Don't want my bride getting mad at me and going off the deep end! OK, just kidding with that...I hope. While I am interested in seeing where this issue goes, and would not get too fired up if it passes, I am not overly in favor of handguns/guns on college campuses to begin with. However, I can't help but wonder what would have happened at Va Tech had a couple of students been "packing heat".

When folks are in the "drug business" there is a pretty good chance that none of the parties are very reliable when it comes to keeping thing peaceful and working on the "honor system", etc. Small deal or big deal, I would not want to take the chance on the character of anyone involved in the deal. Most, it seems, will do what they think they need to do to take care of themselves first! This is certainly not the first, nor will it be the last, situation where something like this happens between "business associates" in an illegal activity. Sort of makes you wonder why one would get involved in such a thing in the first place...the lure of "easy money" and some sort of "street cred" perhaps. My guess is, the funeral and the trial for the "other business associate" will cost one whole lot more than any "profits" made. I am also just guessing that this was not the first of such "business deals" between these folks. SAD...so very sad. Reports were that Dawson was still enrolled at UNT and working to complete his degree. Who knows what he might have accomplished with his life...sad day.
-
So, let's not hear any more negativity around Dodge and the drug testing if this does, in fact, turn out to be a "drug deal gone bad". Sound's to me like the "girlfriend" knew both parties were involved one way or the other in the sale/distribution of illegal substances. SAD. Do these kids not realize that illegal means just that, and if you "play with fire" you just might get burned? This is truly a sad event for the family, his friends and the Mean Green Nation as a whole. Seems Coach Dodge had a pretty good reason for the drug testing. Sad, so very sad. I truly hope the end of the story turns out a great bit differently than these "early reports". Man, hard to believe what some folks will do for what they think is an "easy buck or two". There is a great line in a book on economics that says something like...."if selling drugs is so good, then why do all the drug dealers live with their mother's"?
