I'm On A Mission For The First Tailgate Next Year
KRAM1 replied to oldguystudent's topic in Mean Green Football
Now, this is an issue I can get really fired up about. It is a joke in my family how much I like hot dogs. I seek out...I mean it...hot dog spots in every place I visit...anywhere in the world. Copenhagen has good dogs and lots of sterrt carts...the Danes actually love their hot dogs...I made my wife walk over 10 miles one day in Manhatten just to go to the ORIGINAL Papaya King's hot dog location, I made my wife son, and his friend go with me to Pink's Hot Dogs in LA after an Arena League Football game in LA one time and I made my family and my kid's Mother-In-Law go with me to Ben's Chili Bowl in Washington DC immediately after my sone and daughter-in-laws graduation from medical school. Yes, I love my hot dogs.....the should overturn this stupid ordinace NOW!!!! Free the Bacon-Dog...let's protest...that's something conservatives and liberals should be able to agree on...THE BACON DOG!!!!! GOOD GOD! Thwe world is about to stop turning on its axis! Now, this is something worth fighting for!!!! A Tailgate protest against LA and the banning of the Bacon Dog!!!!! Let's DO IT! -
At UNT, I take the 4-year All-American. Agree that schools like Duke and N Car can take the one-year wonder and re-stock year in and year out, not so much the case at UNT...YET! I have hope eternal on that subject! GO MEAN GREEN!

Tax Day Tea Party
KRAM1 replied to KRAM1's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
It was an amazing day for conservatives...Republicans, democrats, Libertarians and Independents alike. Attendance was excellent at most venues with the Denton estimate by the Denton Police at 1300! Now, that being said...I was a bit surprised and disappointed in the Denton event planning...audio was poor as many people could not hear the speakers, nor could a good many of the attendees see the speakers. But, all in all, a very good event with lots of people there to hear what was said by the speakers. It was fun to be a part of the event, as "conservatives" very rarely seem to rally as such...unlike the liberal crowd who seem to rally and protest at the drop of a hat. But, I digress... Now, going back to MeanGreenDork's comments about the "tin foil hat" and "militia" crowd....Well, I have to admit...at the Denton event there were a couple of folks I heard tallking that I would definitely put in the "tin foil hat" catagory...no sign of any "militia talk", but, OK, fact is fact...I saw and heard it myself...yes, a couple of "tin foil hat" folks. Certainly not the majority and a VERY small minority by my visual and audio experience, but, got to admit the reality of the Denton event. Not so in Southlake by my observation, but Denton.... Also, if I find out that Commissioner Bobbie Mitchell is going to lead a prayer before any future event that I might be planning to attend, I will either arrive late after the prayer or not attend at all! That was the worse excuse for an opening prayer that I have ever heard...EVER! It was not only bad, it was long...where I go to church it would have qualified as a sermon it was so long. I cannot believe folks who know her would ask her to lead an opening prayer! OUCH! Don't get me wrong here, I have absolutely no problem with an opening prayer...just to Commissioner Mitchell delivering it. I did have the pleasure of seeing serval young UNT'ers in attendance wearing UNT shirts, and got to see our great Mean Green Nation member SUMG! Those two things along made the vent worth attending! Anyway, it was fun and great to see happening in Denton and around the country. Now, we need to see where this leads. It is one thing to "rally the troops", but if follow-through is not there, well, then it was just a good party! I hope the momentum continues into positive action on the part of conservatives no matter which party (or any) that they belong to these days! -
Tax Day Tea Party
KRAM1 replied to KRAM1's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Michael...same to you. Did you read my reply? I only asked if he attended an event. I asked who he talked with about this. You might want to "cover those glass windows of yours before throwing those stones of yours...Mr. Michael Scott, sir! I am glad you are having fun with the day...it is meant to be both serious and fun. I am enjoying myself seeing the great turnout the events are generating across the country and am looking forward to being involved this afternoon also in Denton. Will you be attending the Denton event, Mr. Scott, sir? Oh, and if you don't understand this post, just PM me and I'll explain it to you...OK, sorry couldn't resist that last "shot"...it was all in fun...no offense meant for sure! -
Tax Day Tea Party
KRAM1 replied to KRAM1's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
And, just who did you talk to...I heard none of that type of talk in Southlake and feel very certain I will hear nothing of the sort at the denton event this afternoon. Which Tea Party did you attend by the time of your 2:46PM post where "extremist groups" were present? Did you actually attend an event or "just talk to people" attending? So, let me get this straight, groups of conservatives (republican, democrat and independent alike) get together to protest the massive government bailout plan and you see that as a bunch of "extremeists" getting together to talk "revolution"? You would probably have made a great Tory in 1776, but this is not about any sort of revolution except a tax revolution. Please be specific regarding your claims of "tin foil, militia-in-the-woods BS" being in any way associated with these events nation-wide. If you have seen ANY of the news reports today on TV, I doubt you have seen any "tin foil" hats or actual armed militia running around. Maybe it's the "MoveOn.Org" folks you are referring to with your comments. -
Tax Day Tea Party
KRAM1 replied to KRAM1's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Here were a couple of signs being displayed at the Southlake tea party earlier today: "Honk if I am paying your mortgage" "Keep your public hands off my privates" "Clean the House in 2010" "Don't Pay Taxes, Wait for a Cabinet Post" "It's the spending stupid" and "Stimulate Term Limits" Pretty creative...the news regarding attendance at the Tax day Tea Parties is VERY encouraging. Big crowds all across the country today. I'll be interested to see how many turnout for this evenings Dallas event, and, of couse, the one my bride and I will be attending in Denton... 6-7:30PM - Denton County Courthose lawn! -
DONE! This guy is so very misguided. I do, however, believe that his "effort" will have absolutely ZERO effect on the stadium project! GO MEAN GREEN!

The Citizens Against Government Waste just announced their Congressional Top Ten Porkers List for 2009. "pork" is seen at about $20B in the 2009 fiscal year. While the number of requests for "earmarks" did decline from 11,610 to 10,160, the item that counts, money, actually increased by more than $2Billion. Some of the more "interesting" pork includes: $1.8 million for swine odor and manure management in Ames, Iowa; $3.8 million for the Old Tiger Stadium Conservatory in Detroit, Mich.; $1.9 million for a water taxi servive in Conn., and $380,000 for fairgrounds in Kolzebue, Alaska. Nice, if you can get it, right? Since we ALL pay forthsi garbage!!! The top 10 Congressional Porkers are: In the Senate: 1. Thad Cochran - Republican - Mississippi 2. Dan Inouye - Democrat - Hawaii 3. Roger Wicker - republican - Mississippi 4. Robert Byrd - Democrat - W. Virginia 5. Tom harkin - Democrat - Iowa In the House: 1. Neil Abercrombie - Democrat - Hawaii 2. Stephanie Herseth-Sandlin - Democrat - S. Dakota 3. Mazie Hiror (Sp?) - Democrat - Hawaii 4. Jim Moran - Democrat - W. Virginia 5. Bill Young - Republican - Alaska. Amazing greed...you just can't belive what goes on in Washington.

Who cares? If the guy could actually coach he would still be in the NBA!

Michelle Obama's Wardorbe
KRAM1 replied to KRAM1's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Talk about late to a party. I did think this thread was already dead...and most folks (including the last poster) missed the point entirely...point was, and I will definitely leave it with this, the difference attention the press gave the wardrobe's of Palin vs Obama. The warddrobe themselves were, are and will continue to be nothing of significance. Sorry, I probably should have framed it a bit better in the first place...but, didn't I already say and admit to that? Oh, well...ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ -
Nice Job Navy Seals
KRAM1 replied to GoMeanGreen1999's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Folks, this event played out exactly as it should have played out. Sure, I would liked to have seen the Navy blow the pirates to "heck and back" sooner, but it seems to me that everyone handled the situation correctly, with patience and a steady hand...and when the time was right, the Naval Commander on site gave the order to fire! And, fire they did...strike one, strike two, strike three...pirates out! Let's celebrate the victory. You may recall that the French stormed a sailboat in recent days that was being held hostage by pirates. Outcome there was not so good as the captain of the sailboat was killed in the assult. GO NAVY...WAY TO GO SEALS! -
Tax Day Tea Party
KRAM1 replied to KRAM1's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Some thoughts to ponder prior to the TAX DAY TEA PARTIES: 1. Under the proposed budget, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) projects that the national debt will double over the next five years, and it will triple over the next ten years to $17.3 trillion! 2. Under the proposed budget, CBP projects the national debt soar ocver the next 10 years from 40% of GDP to 82.4%! 3. Under the proposed budget total federal borrowing will grow by $2.7trillion this year alone, an increase of 27% in one year! 4. The proposed budget increases federal spending by an incredible 34% over the previous year, with a total $4trillion in federal spending...the highest EVER! 5. The federal budget deficit (not the national debt) would reach $1.845 trillion this year, according to the CBO, the highest ever under the proposed budget! 6. The CBO estimates the proposed budget deficit will total an astounding 13.1% of GDP, more than 1/8 of the total US economy! 7. The proposed budget includes $1 trillion in TAX INCREASES on the upper 5% of income earners. But, the top 5% already pays 60% of all income taxes! 8. The proposed budget projects that revenues from corporate income tax will more than doouble in 3 years, increasing, in fact, by more than 24%. Who do you think ultimately pays that tax increase? 9. Another $645 billion tax increase comes from President Obama's anti-global warming cap and trade system, which is essentially a tax on the production and use of carbon energy, such as oil, natural gas, and coal. 10. While the administration claims to have cut $2 trillion from the budget over 10 years, fully $1.5 trillion of those "cuts" actually represent the troop drawdown in Iraq, which was already scheduled to occur under the previous administration. Of the remaining $500 billion in budget "savings", fully $311 billion is categorized as "interest savings" but is actually an additional tax increase on the upper income earners. Just some items to "ponder" as April 15th approaches. Hope to see some of you folks at the Tax Day Tea Party on the south side of the Denton square from 6-7:30PM this WEDNESDAY, Aril 15th. -
Nice Job Navy Seals
KRAM1 replied to GoMeanGreen1999's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Again, this was not a terrorist act...it was a criminal act and was handled accordingly and correctly and to a very good outcome. Our president had very little to do with it, but to the small extent that he was involed, yes, good for him. Hopefully, he will not find someone to apologize to for the actions of the United States in this case. -

KRAM1 replied to GoMeanGreen1999's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
This was a criminal event, not a terror strike. The US Navy has no autghority to act on its own in such cases, but must be asked to act by the owner of the ship/s in question. The life of the Captain was the largest issue in whether to shoot to kill or not and when. This was a criminal hostage situation and the FBI handled it at first as a hostage negotiation. Sticking point in the negotiations seems to have been the fact that the US was insisting on the fact that the pirates be required to be arrested and stand trial. That broke the negotiations down. At that point, iot became a much more "serious" situation for the Captain and plans were put in place to act when/if possible. Seems the three pirates showed themselves just at the same time (and wrong time for them) and the Seals took them out. Order to shoot was given by the Capt. of the Naval ship on site. I believe the name of the ship is the USS Bainbridge. Somali pirates are now vowing revenge on US ships and their crews over the death of the three pirates. Yea, right! The captured pirate is said to be about 16 years old, and his age will definitely complicate any trial as he is a minor. Interesting...these "kids" can hijack ships, hold crews for ransom, take over and cature crews and ships, kill crew mwmbwrs, but still be treated as "minors" by the court. Nice. Perhaps they will find a way to try that kid as an "adult". Certainly should. Here's an idea. Why not bring back the old convoy system used during WWII to guard against U-Boat attackes? With all the hi-tech GPS and routing going on these days in the merchant sea world of transportation, it would seem fairly easy to me to get 4-6 merchant ships together going the same direction through the dangerous waters off the west coast of Africa and use 1-2 Naval ships as a convoy guard. Seems as soon as it is no longer profitable to the pirates that they would give up the attacks. Sure, it would cost a bit to do, but after about a year of no profit, I would be the problem would lessen a great bit or disappear. What do you think???? -
There really isn't much of a doubt, is there? I think "King James" has this vote in the bag as they say.

GREAT JOB!!! Navy Seals are special people who place themselves in harms way time and time again. Did you see how the Seals got to the site? My son Navy Lt. said gthey flew the Seals to the site and dropped them out the back of a C-130 about a mile from the Navy ship...thye made their way a mile to the ship and boarded it so the pirates would not realize that they were now on site. I think they shot the pirates (3 of them) from onboard the Nvaal vessel. Really great job. May God bless them. A great Easter present indeed. GO NAVY!! -
Fantasy Baseball League
KRAM1 replied to UNTLifer's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I thought all MLB baseball was a fantasy! It has to be when you call your chamionship series the "World Series" but only let one nation field teams. What are they afraid of...maybe getting waxed by another nation...sort of like that series they played during spring training...just where did the US team finish? "World Series" my you know what! Fantasy, that's just what it is...dreaming of the day when the US actually could dominate the game it "invented". Let's have a real "World Series" and invite other nation's champions to participate. Why not...It would be interesting, would it not? -
A big congrats to the ladies of UNT softball fame...great job with the sweep...things are really looking good for JT and his team...keep it going ladies...Nicely done! GO MEAN GREEN!

The game was a "hoot" yesterday. My bride and I had a great time watching the "athletes" compete, but the best of all was just being there and being part (a small part" of the event. Got to meet some more GMG.Com members...and for those who take this board too personally sometimes...DON'T. Everyone, and I mean everyone, is just having a good time and enjoying the fun of being part of the Mean Green Nation. I really want to say thnaks to Dozer and Soundman for the great food after the game...folks, these guys can cook! And, JayDub was there to watch the festivities all the way from Utah! Now...what can you say about Green Nightmare for keeping the tradition alive? Great job and I say thanks to all...it really was a great day, and I, for one, will look forward to being part of next year's event. A big thanks to the Athletic Dept. I asked a couple of attendees this question...just what other DI program in the country can you think of that would, for no fee or cost, allow a bunch of folks to use their home field for a touch football game and on top of it maiking certain the restroom were open for anyone needing them? Say what you want, but I think the Athletic Dept. is very "user friendly" and deserves a big shout out of THANKS! Fun day...hope to see even more participants next season. I'll volunteer again to do anything I can to help. Count me in!!!! GO MEAN GREEN!

And, Mean Green Nation, the "good news" just keeps coming! Oh, ye of little faith, take heed. Good things are indeed happening at UNT. Just so everyone will know...a snap WAS rtaken from under center yesterday at the GMG.Com Bowl...AND, I MISSED IT! Just goes to show, when the "athletes" are on the field at Fouts...anything can happen! GO MEAN GREEN!!!!
-
Want a soccer ref??? Just kidding...I will have alreday worked three soccer games before coming to Fouts with my bride to help with the $$$ collection and T-Shirt handout...so, I don't think I'd have another game in me...besides I don't know the touch football rules and I will be tired of handing out yellow cards and sending players/coaches off the field by game time at Fouts. Ok, just kidding...I'll probably not have to toss anyone! Hardly ever do...

Nice stadium...congrats to the Bobcats. I can't wait to see the same sort of photos posted as we follow the construction of UNT's new stadium. Drawings of "what if's" are just that...some artist's conception of what he/she has been told with some preliminary discussions with "parties that be". I have rarely seen such drawings that are not without some "stuff" left out or added in. "Locals" always find those little differences and some seem to make a much bigger deal out of it than it is. Texas State's new stadium is looking great, and so will UNT's when it gets to that stage in the next few months....well, when it gets to that stage! It will be so very much fun to watch this new stadium being built. I'll smile each and every time I go by it recalling all the time. effort and support it took to get it built. GO MEAN GREEN!
