  1. Snopes.com agrees with Flyer. If Snopes is to be believed, then the Texas flag has no "special" rule just because Texas entered the Union as a Republic. OK, so be it, but that doesn't mean that Texas SHOULDN'T BE THE ONLY ONE!!!!
  2. Baseball...Colleges play baseball???? Who would have thought? Just kidding. I am just "sore" because my Okie State Cowboys have been playing so poorly lately. Maybe they have been watching the Texas Rangers sorry excuse for a pitching staff. You think?
  3. Flyer, I am still not sure...I think I might just do some research on this as it is something I have been told numerous times...by folks I thought should know for sure..Hmmmmmmmm
  4. We had to close the game to "outsiders" as there was concern that other schools were sending spies to steal all the secret plays. Only allowed in on a "need to know" basis!
  5. Gee, I have never taught a kid to play pool, so what could you mean???? And, by the way...do not blaspheme hot dogs! The food of the gods the hot dog is.....
  6. What talent? She has some...please advise where? Just another second rate celeb opening mouth and inserting foot. It is amazing how these idiots get "air time" when it is so very obvious that they have not "done their homework" and have very little, if any, intelligent thing to add to the discussion. DUMB IS AS DUMB DOES! Just another case in point. Pay no mind as she has no mind to pay attention to in the first place.
  7. If you really believe this you might want to give some serious thought to his ties with Russia/Cuba/North Korea/Bolivia, etc.
  8. You just have to be there at the right time. We arrived about 11:15AM and had a 20-25 min. wait...not so bad. I tried three different dogs...shared with my wife and son, but each were very good and really messy!!!! BTW, the is no such thing as a "damn hot dog". They are sort of like women...all are good, some are just better than others! And, with that I am sure to catch a bit of flak on the homefront this evening!
  9. Flyer, I do not believe that is a myth. As Texas entered the Union as a Republic, I believe it does hold the right to fly it's flag at the same height as the American Flag.
  10. And, just what did you expect from this bunch after seeing how successful the Tea Parties were across the country? I guess it's OK to stage such an event if it is Anti-America, liberal, pro-big government, not just if it is attended by conservatives made up of Republicans, Independents, democrats, etc. By the way, I heard no "hate speech"...to even suggest that that was part of the reason for the Tea Parties is to show exactly how far out of touch one really is...good grief! I expected as such from the left, but it is a bit surprising to see who is "comming out of the woodwork" to speak out against the Tea Parties...can we just call them the "usual suspects" plus some?
  11. Nice shots..thanks to Mary Emily (ok, you too, Stebo). Reminded me of what a great day it was and how much fun it was!
  12. OldGuy...absolutely will try Jodi Maroni's on my next visit to LA...whenever that might be, but love my Dogs, so keep the suggestions coming. My bride will be so very glad I have "new" dog places to try at every stop. I am sure I will get a load of grief from "some" on this board for this comment, but I would rather have a great Hot Dog than a T-Bone Staek! Yes, I know how that sounds, but I love the great hot dogs of this great nation of ours! All this talk of good dogs is making me really really hungry. Anyone here ever heard of the "Splitter" Dog? I think it comes from the Chicago area and it is a dog "fried" until it splits open and then is loaded with all the "goodies"...man, can't get too much better than that. And, just so you will know...no blood pressue pills or cholosteral (is that how you spell it?) trouble for this boy (YET!), so bring on those dogs!!!! BTW, I think Jimmy at Sweetwater in denton ought to add a hot dog to his menu!!!! I think I'll mention that ... they do have a fried balogna sandwhich that is pretty darn good. Close to a dog, but no cigar!
  13. This has nothing to do with clean air...it has everything to do with CONTROL and taxation! The democrats want to control everything and make everyone dependent upon the government for their well being. Why...surprise, government dependees seem to vote for big government politicians. This is all about control folks, just like the democrat idea regaring universal health care coverage. Democrats..."the party of greed, cloked in the language of love"! D. Armey (it's as close to the quote as I recall, but it is close enough and it is so very true!)
  14. The poor guy has no clue! He thinks he is "mending fences", but in reality he is simply telling the despots of the world that he can be "played like a fiddle" and that he is a VERY WEAK PRESIDENT when it comes to world affaris. Sure, he thinks he'll get a lot done, and he will, but it will be at the expense of the United States. So very sad in so many ways. He simply seems to have no clue. I will be glad when the "rear end kissing tour" is over.
  15. Endless possibilities! Be still my heart!!!
  16. OldGuy...thanks for the Chicago info. As far as Top Dog goes, yes, I know about that one too, but just remembered they were headquartered in Berkeley, CA. Not too much good comes out of Berkeley. Besides, I only had one shot with the wife along to grab a Dog and Pink's has been around much much longer than the "new kid on the block" Top Dog. Heck, I'm older than Top Dog! Hey, I think I'll order some of the Bison franks....thanks for the tip gangrene! Love those Dogs...Hey, Ben's Chili Bowl in DC is another good place for Dogs if you ever get to the DC area!
  17. I do believe, as has been noted here, that UNT can do a great deal to control its own destiny with regard to conference affiliation. Get the staddium built, start winning more and on a consistent basis, and bring home attendance up in both football and basketball, and the conference question will probably take care of itself. Perhaps there would be some folks out there who would like to develop a new conference based on some regional "head to head" competition. Who knows, but first things first.
  18. How does that Kool-Aid taste? In case you haven't realized it, George Bush is no longer president. It's time for Obama to take responsibility for what actions are happening today and to focus on the tough tasks ahead. Running around telling everyone to "look at me" and blaming America for all the ills of the world is NOT being a leader...it's being a apologist to curry favor...look at me...look at me, the young man cries, I am so pretty, I am so good, pick me, pick me!!!!
  19. Nope...it's called being a apologist and trying to win favor from others by making his own nation look bad. Obama seems to be going around saying, "look at me...all those other guys were bad people, but look at me...I am the second coming and everyone else did bad things, but I am such a very good guy...Look at me, look at me, I am a rock star! Those atoher guys were bad, America is bad, but I will save all mankind because I am perfect...it's everyone else that is wrong, I am right...watch me, watch me!"
  20. Won't come close to happening...just like Philip Young's rants against the stadium will have ZERO impact on its being built! Book it, Danno!
  21. Yes, there have been some things in the past that America did not handle so well. But, tough to take the past and couch it in today's belief structure and make heads or tails out of it. I dare say there is not one major nation or civilization that this world has ever seen that would not have a few things to be "less than proud of" when reviewing its history. To keep apologizing over and over for this stuff is plain stupid. The President of the United States needs to lead, not bend over, bow, apologize and tele-prompt his way through his term. I dare say that the framers of the US Constitution would not even recognize what the courts ond congress of this great nation of ours have done to the document they created. Yet, the courts and congress tell us what these founding fathers meant all the time. Do you really think they have any clue whatsoever about the influences, traditions, values, etc. existing at that the time the Constitution was written? I think the United States, with all its flaws and past injustices, is now and will continue to be the greatest nation on God's Green Earth. I see absolutely nothing, NOTHING, to be gained from our President going all over the world apologizing for our actions. But, then, our current President seems to want to be liked and given rock star treatment more than he wants to lead. Tough to lead when the world sees your leadership as weak.
  22. I will miss him. We need more like him...good luck John Madden, you will be missed and thanks for the memories.
  23. I do find it a tad interesting that each and every time Coffee gets in one of these "spats" with folks on GMG.Com that he always adds the foul language at some point. Is that what happens when your argument doesn't hold up and you can't think of anything else to say? Just wondering? Its a research question...not trying to get into this spat with Coffee as who needs more name-calling and foul language? Not me! Let's just all agree to say GO MEAN GREEN! Still amazed that my Tax Day Tea Party topic has gotten this many "hits"...fun, isn't it? And, oh, yes, I am waiting for the day when someone who "promises" to leave the country if "so and so" gets elected or if "such and such" a thing happens, actually does it! I am talking about a person here. BTW...is the Gov really sure Texas retained the right to secede? I know Texas retained the right to break into five different states, but I am not too sure about the secede thing. It has been a "Texas lore and legend" for as long as I can remember, but I did some research on it while taking Texas History at UNT as an undergrad and could not really get a "full understanding" of the position. Anyone have a bit more knowledge about it all?
  24. You folks are making me thirsty...let's all agree on this...BEER IS GOOD! GOOD THINGS ARE HAPPENING FOR BEER!
  25. Question...photo 7 in the series...does she shave those arm pits or does she do the French thing and go natural...just asking...photo sort of begs the question.
