Americorps Signed Into Law
KRAM1 replied to eulesseagle's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Don't need it, didn't want it. Volunteering is a way of life in America. No need for BIG GOV'T to stick their nose into it and mess it up. Just wait, you will soon be reading about graft and corruption and wasted "$$billions" within this program It's all about "control" with these folks. I wonder what role ACORN (and like minded groups) will play. I'll bet ACORN is going to be one of the approved volunteer programs within this program. Too funny. Just wait. With this crowd in Washington, you "ain't seen nothing yet". Oh, and let's find a way to cut all of "100,000,000 from the budget!!! What a pile of smelly stuff that is...after setting up to spend $$$$TRILLIONS he wants Washington to cut the massive amount of $100million from the budget...let's see that doesn't even amount to a pimple on an elephant's rear end! Great job! Just remember, "you ain't seen nothing yet"! Too funny. You just can't make this stuff up. -
No surprise...it's soccer! Congrats to the ladies, and if you have not seen the team play, you are missing out on some great women's soccer! These ladies CAN PLAY! My guess is that the tennis and golf squads will rank pretty darn high on the academic scale too. Great job ladies! GO MEAN GREEN!

Nicely done! GO MEAN GREEN! There was a good article in the DRC before the event also. I was looking for some news after the vent...thanks Flyer! So, with Sand Volleyball being approved by the NCAA can UNT at least recognize this group as a club sport so they can wear the official logo, etc.? Way to go UNT Paintball!!!! You folks ROCK! GO MEAN GREEN!

Great Article On Being Excellent In Athletics As Well As Academics
KRAM1 replied to UNTLifer's topic in Mean Green Football
Lifer...great post and great article. It can be done, and UNT is moving in that direction. Lots of folks have re-connected to UNT in recent months, years, etc. It takes effort to bring 'em back, much more than if you try to keep them engaged in the first place. GO MEAN GREEN! -
You can always go back to the same lender and try to negotiate a different rate structure. As a 30+ year banker, I have been witness to many re-structures to avoid foreclosue. But, of course, both the bank and the borrower must be "willing partners". The borrower certainly must have the necessary "cash flow"...as loans are repaid by cash flow not collateral...something borrowers often forget...and have been paying "on time and as agreed". The bank has to be willing to re-structure under the calculated belief that they are much better served staying out of foreclosure. It does happen and it can work out quite well for both the borrower and the bank. Tough times mean tough decisions...not easy ones such as "walking away" from an obligation when you are really able to pay...you jkust don't want to! Sad. Perhaps if the "full story" were known, views might be different, but on the surface and with the info given, this looks like a jerk walking a debt because "other people are doing it" and he can get "cover" to be able to claim "victim status"...."It's not my fault, it's the fault of the economy and the bank who forced me to sign a loan that I did not understand". Sigh........

Is Dirk Playoff Soft
KRAM1 replied to KRAM1's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Now, that might just be the correct answer. Like I said, I heard the comment about Dirk on the radio. Don't know enough to know from personal experience, so I put the question to you folks. Got some good answers too...I think the real answer is that Diork is a real gamer who may have "off" nights from time to time in the playoffs, but the real culprit here is that the team as a whole is playoff soft. So, any thoughts on that line of thinking from yyz28? I think he may have hit on something here. -
Yep...if I signed the mortage and was capable of reading what I signed...as I assumed Kwame was. The guy is employed...refinance...or is his credit so bad because he may have "walked" other debts that he can't? So, where's he going? The obligation to pay a debt is not based on the value of the underlying collateral. Do you think all homes that have experienced a decrease in value lately will always remain "undervalued"? I tend to think that as the economy regains its footing that home values and resale markets will respond accordingly. They have in the past and I see no reason why they will not again follow the same pattern. Lots of folks made a ton of money the last time this happened by buying and holding. Lots of homes being refinanced these days...my kid even refinanced his home in Virginia to lower his payment. Guess what...it's worth less than he paid for it, it is in a very depressed market, has been on the "for sale" listings for close to a year now, and he has not been able to live in it or rent it that whole time (he is in the militray and was transferred).....and...wait...wait for it...he continues to pay the mortgage along with the rent on his current residence on the other side of the country (Washington state). He was faced with the same situation as Kwame, but chose a different path. You see, it can be done. Again, no indication in the story that Kwame could not afford the mortgage...even at the revised rate. Go figure. And, JohnDenver...no offense taken at all...see my post to greenminer...I should have included you in the same "no offense" taken line.
-
Sorry, John Denver, it was the fact that an elected democrat official walked away from his mortgage BECAUSE the value had decreased below his mortgage amount. The article said nothing about his being able or unable to pay the mortgage, nor did he. Sure Republicans, democrats, Independents, etc. have walked away from mortgages, but how many elected officials simply because of a decrease in value???? Heck, my house is appraised at a lower value than it was a few years ago...great...less taxes to pay...but I am not walking away from it because of a lower value. John Denver, sometimes you have to really read the post...and maybe think about it a little bit. I will admit to being "guilty" of "jumping the gun" on some posts...and rightly being called to task by my fellow GMG.com'ers for not realizing what was really being said...and even if it were said in jest....so, read and think a bit before going on your Troll hunt.

You Gotta Love Pro Athletes
KRAM1 replied to KRAM1's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Nice guy all the way around. What a great role model. You are right...never heard of the guy. Maybe the Little League had to take Dukes because no one else on the team would volunteer...who knows. Looks pretty typical of many of our wonderful pro athletes today. Give me stories about Jason Whitten...my guess is Jason Whitten would have donated to a pee wee football association AND showed up to sign autographs, etc. Too bad there are so few Jason Whittens in pro sports these days and so many Eligiha Dukes! -

Ignorant Hate Speech

Democrat Party..."The party of greed cloked in the language of love". Enough said! -
"Dallas Morning News" - Sports section page 4C - April 22, 2009 Story Line: "Little League Offers to pay fine for Dukes" Seems Washington outfielder Elijah Dukes was PAID...GOT THAT PAID...$500 to show up at a Little League opening day event to sign autographs and meet and mingle with the kids. He was PAID $500 to work with some Little Leaguers and the guy makes $415,500 a year! Sure, not much in pro pay terms these days, but still not sending him wondering where his next meal is going to come from either. He was late to the Washington game and was taken out of the starting lineup and fined $500...Guess what, now the Little League (after paying the guy to show up $500) is collecting money to pay the guys fine! How stupid is all this...first to want to be paid to help out some kids...shame on Dukes...then to even think about allowing the Little League to pay your fine for being late. Man, this guy is a real piece of work. Should have siad...thanks for offering the $500 guys, but I'll be there to work with the kids...no pay needed...second, his team should not have fined him given the circumstances...a stern warning and a promise of a fine if it happens again...but, geez louise, get a grip on things folks! Just another reason to love pro baseball players and pro baseball! The ONLY folks who look good here are the Cedar Falls, VA Little League. Amazing stuff this...you just can't make up how stupid this stuff is...If this were my son I would be so ashamed that I had not done a better job of instilling in him the idea that helping others is a good thing and is reward itself. No pay required! Too bad all the "good guys" don't get this much PR...I'll bet there were other ballplayers who helped open Little League seasons all over the play without being paid! Let's read about them! Good Grief!

What's Wrong With This Picture?
KRAM1 replied to LongJim's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Just so you will know...I have never heard of this guy! I really can't say he is a "household name" in this country, but maybe he is for a bit more younger and artsy crowd. I have no clue. After reading about this, he seems to be just another of the "Celeb" crowd who have "mashed eggs" for brains and are all about themselves and their "cause"...usually at the expense of someone else. As far as I am concerned the young lady gave an honest answer to a question that should NEVER have been asked in this setting. Shame on this guy for asking it in the first place, congrats to the young lady for providing an honest answer. Too bad it's only OK in America these days if you give the PC answer! -
OK, for all you pro basketball fans out there...help me out with this. On the drive in to work ths morning on KRLD sports segment, I heard the announcer talking about Dirk disapperaing "again" in a playoff game. He said it was a regular thing with Dirk when the playoffs came around. Seems Dirk is easy to take out of the game during playoff time. So, just how can a recent NBA MVP be "soft", if that really is the case, when the playoffs roll around? Is he the "Tony Romo" for Dallas basketball fans in performance level when it really counts? Hey, I don't follow pro basketball enough to know for sure, but I really thought Dirk was a real solid pro game in and game out. Maybe not so much in the playoffs??? If you look at last nights line, sure seems Dirk was "missing in action". Is this somewhat "normal" for him in the playoffs? OK, please, I am not beating Dirk up. I think he is the heart and soul; of the Dallas Mavs and has been the franchise player for some years now, so don't go get all "postal" on me for talking about Dirk or asking questions if the Mavs are YOUR team and Dirk is YOUR guy. I just want some decent thoughtful responses to a fair question. So, Mavs and pro basketball fans, what say you?

MSNBC Headline: "Detroit Councilman Walks Away From Mortgage" You got it...Detroit Councilman, Kwame Kenyatta, who happens to be running for mayor in Detroit, "walks" his mortgage. Kenyatta is a democrat by the way. Maybe he has done several of Obama's cabinet members "one better" by not paying either his taxes or his mortgage. I wouldn't doubt the possibility, but can't say for certain. But, it is certain he is "walking" his responsibility to the bank, his neighborhood and his city. The link below should take you to the article. Nice leadership, wouldn't you say? The raweson he gives is NOT that he is in a inancial bind, but that the home's value has dropped below the outstanding mortgage balance. Nice reason...seems lots of cars that are financed do the same thing after being driven off the showroom floor. I guess folks should just drive them for awhile and "walk away". Works for Kwame. hey, if he didn't/doesn't pay income taxes, surely he could afford his mortgage, right? You just can't make this stuff up. I think the guy may no longer be in good shape to run for mayor of Detroit, but sure seems like the kind of guy Obama likes for a cabinet post. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/30311735?GT1=43001
