Why Are Texans So Afraid?
KRAM1 replied to SilverEagle's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Like all the "bloodsuckers and toadies" who took out those sub-prime mortagages (That Barney (Fife) Frank seems to love so much...or did when he was pressuring folks to make them) and all the idiots who can't seem to figure out that if you just pay your credit card off in full each month you won't need to worry about the rate/late fees, etc.??? If you carry a balance, how about paying "on time and as agreed" and you won't have a late fee...AT ALL! Gee, can't pay it in full each month? Why live above your means in the first place? Hmmmmmmm...if you don't have the money, you might want to think about not charging it in the first place. Oh, that's right, if you are a democrat it's "not your fault" you pay your bills late or sign mortgages you can't pay for...some big nasty banker MADE you take out that credit card and that mortgage. RIGHT! And, no, not all folks in trouble with their mortgages and credit cards are democrats, so don't go there...that is not what I am saying. Is it time for some new regulations regarding Wall Street and Credit Cards, sure, probably is...good, make them appropriate and how about making the folks who charge the stuff responsible too? You charge it, you pay for it! The days are long gone when card companies could send actual cards out to folks in the mail without them signing anything. If you have a card, you signed and agreed to the terms. If they are bad, dump the stupid card and pay cash or find a better deal. There are plenty of "better deals" out there! Oh, your credit is so bad that you can't get a better deal? Sorry, whose fault is that? Where does it say that "personal responsibility is no longer appropriate? Did I miss that in one of Obama's campaign speeches he seems to still be giving???? By the way...in case you haven't figured it out by now...BUSH IS NO LONGER IN THE WHITE HOUSE!!!! The trillions that Obama is dishing out is ALL ON HIM. Time to start owning up to to those two small facts some folks want to ignore. I guess it's just easier to keep blaming Bush. Come on SilverEagle, you can't believe that folks should not be responsible for what they sign or what actions they take. These same folks are often crying that big bad business is discriminating against them because they won't give them credit in the first place. Then, they get the credit and claim they were "forced" by the big bank to sign a bad deal..."I just didn't understand what I was signing"...well, don't sign it! Typical rant from Silver Eagle about big bad business and nasty bankers...all the while ignoring the problems his pals in Washington are creating each and every day. Time to get a new line...what's happening today is for better or worse, Obama's. If he wants the credit when/if anything positive happens, he better start living in the present and working for the future. It's "personal responsibility" vs "the nanny society of big government". Too bad for the country...I think the "it's not my fault" folks are winning the battle of the "hearts and minds" of those in DC. Why...power and control! -
Was lee Jackson there too??? Anyone want to bet on his attendance???? NOT!!!! Does the phantom really live????

Didn't need fixing...The democrats want to control everything. It's all about control of the masses and the poorly informed so they can create a welfare state dependent upon BIG Govt. for existing...it's all about control and getting re-elected. The dems will stop at nothing to see that the "socialization of America" continues. OK, maybe that's a bit unfair to some dems, but let's say the dems currently in power in DC. It isn't both parties calling for this National Health care, and it isn't the Republican Party throwing billions/trillions of dollars around and then trying to make cuts of $100million look significant. Don't "fix" stuff that doesn't need fixing, oldguystudent, that's what your dem pals in DC are trying to do today and it isn't going to work either! If the only answer these guys can come up with is to throw obnoxious sums of money (that they don't have) at folks, well, that's not CHANGE, that stupidity! -
I was wondering how long it would take someone to pick up on that and mention same! I thought it was pretty funny, but guess not that many people at the game picked up on it. hey, I tried!

Thanks, glad to hear that...would sure like to see him "come home" and play in the NFL!

Very good interview, indeed. I think we can all be proud of the way Dr. B presents herslf in settings such as this. Sure helps move UNT forward the way she presents UNT to the public. Well done. Interesting comments about the Native American literature work she has done. Just wondering here...does Dr. B consider herslf to be of Native American descent? I may have this wrong, but when I was at Okie State the "requirement" was 25% to be considered Native American and thus qualify for aid. I think you had to be at least 25% and be able to prove it to be placed on the tribal roles...something like that. Anyone know for certain regarding Dr. B? I have not heard, as I can recall, her speak directly to this. Like I say, may have missed it...

It's not about guns or ammo...it's all about CONTROL. These guys (dems) want to control everything. This is just another item on their list that they think BIG GOVT. should control...big govt also being controlled by them! They don't care about your guns or your ammo...they just want control...OVER EVERYTHING. -
If only UNT had Men's soccer...then we'd have a 1st place team for sure. I guess the women's soccer team will have to carry the water for now. Leave it to soccer to uphold the hinor of UNT's athletic program!

Nice job here...guy can get hot a shot LOW...very low. Good pick-up by UNT. I wonder what he "cost" in the way of scholarships being a faoreign student?
-
WOW...can't believe Fitz has not been signed by someone as yet. The guy can play and his numbers were awsome ona team that, otherwise, had little success. The guy can play...I have to believe someone will give him a shot, but then I thought the great Quinn would be "set" somewhere by now too. Any updates on Quinn? Have I missed something with Quinn?

Draft is generally a "crap shoot" for every one..do you remember Tony Mandarich. Biggest #1 pick bust in history...in my opinion. Seems to me that rounds 3-5 are where you can get some real bargains and some great "future" NFL players. First round guys "usually" add up to help for teams...maybe not the team that actually drafts them, but with 1st round skills they tend to be some value, second round pretty much OK too, after that???? Time will be the "teller" of this Cowboys draft, but if history is any indication at all...not so good for the 'Boys! We'll see...but, it's pro ball, so so very different than the college game.

UNT wins more games, OF COURSE!

Dire Predictions From Earth Day
KRAM1 replied to SUMG's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
The "sky is falling" folks were with us then, are with us now (even in the White House...see carbon emmissions caps mania) and will be with us in the future. Just heard another "nut" talking about how overpopulation will soon doom the world because we cannot grow enough food on the planet...ugh! I tend to think these folks do it for two reasons: 1) It's their moment of fame, and 2) They make money off it! Too bad so many folks actually listen to this garbage. SUMG, thanks for reminding us just how wacky these predictions are and how very wrong, for the most part, they always are.... -

Do you really see this as an apples to apples comparison? -
North Korea
KRAM1 replied to Rudy's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Because you even ask that question gives me real pause to question. If you see no difference between NK and western powers that hold nukes I am truly dismayed. I do so hope you asked that question simply to keep the discussion going and "bring out" some other GMG.com'ers who might be a bit more vocal on the issue. -
Ga Police Officer Killed
KRAM1 replied to Rudy's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Why are there still motorcycle cops in the first place? I am sure it's exciting to be a motorcycle cop, but good grief, as Rick said, the job is dangerous enough without adding a motorcycle to the mix. In my drive home yesterday an idiot on a cell phone wondered out of his lane and right into me...if I had not been alert (lucky for me) we would have ended up, at best, with a tie up on I-35 for who knows how long right in "drive time". I wonder how many other IDIOTS are talking on cell phones and driving right this very second? Makes it even more risky to be on a motorcycle...cop or no cop. Seems to me that some cities around the area have alreday parked their motorcycles. My thoughts and prayers go out to this officer's family. What a shame. These guys serve and protect and they do it 24/7 in good times and in bad. To lose an officer like this...or anyway for that matter...is a true loss. I pray for the family...those kids have lost big time! -
Radio Ratings---dallas Sports Talk
KRAM1 replied to SUMG's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
The Ticket is fine when it sticks to sports. All that other "garbage" they talk which makes it really not so much a sports station but a talk radio station turns me away. I do listen to the Ticket...mainly because of George and his support for UNT...but all that stuff that has absolutely nothing to do with sports is simply not for me. When it starts I change the station to a competitor. Will the Ticket stay #1 in the market? Probably so, but it is beginning to be a bit of a stretch to call it a pure sports talk station...it is not! -
I Think That There Is A Negative Piece About Dr B Coming On
KRAM1 replied to stebo's topic in Mean Green Football
Another great job of unbiased and fully researched reporting by our crack media today. And, UNT adds a school of journalism to add to the number of these "unbiased reporters of the truth". I did not catch the piece, but will watch this evening if I can. While I have my personal thoughts and some "issues" with the "Me Me Me Look at Me" Pres. B, I do not have a problem with her perks nor what she makes in salary. You want the job????? Be very careful how you answer that question, because if you think it's all about the money...well think again. It takes hard work and lots of PC-ness to get to her spot these days. You want to deal day in and day out with the "interesting crowd" that are college professors today, the alumni, the athletic headaches, the funding challenges, the "make nice" events that are constantly on your agenda...and the folks here and those like us on GMG.com 24/7? If so, go get your PHD, spend many years making little or nothing climbing the academic ladder and give it a go. This is a tough job, and one that should be paid handsomely. We can argue over some of the perks, fair enough, but lots of folks make much more and do much less. And, yes, as was mentioned earlier...lots of coaches are making much much more and have even nicer perks. Give this line a rest and find something worthwhile to report. Good grief! Who thought this up to report and why? What's the real "back story" to this? Makes you wonder, doesn't it? I hope this evening's report paints a more unbiased view than what this one is reported to have done. However, this does not negate the fact that GOOD THINGS ARE HAPPENING AT UNT...even if Charlie Geren wants to kill the law school. BUM that he is! -
Personally, I hope not. I want RV to see UNT play in the new stadium that he helped work so hard to build BEFORE he considers leaving UNT. To some of you I would say...BE VERY CAREFUL WHAT YOU ASK FOR BECAUSE YOU MIGHT JUST GET IT! I have seen AD's at UNT come and go for over 40 years...if you think it's time for RV to go, then you just haven't been witness to some of our previous AD's! I am not saying RV is "God's gift to the AD world", who is? But, I can say, in my opinion, RV has and continues to be a very good AD for UNT. Yes, "challenges" exist, and some folks have perfectly sound reasons for not being overly fond of RV, but all-in-all I'll take RV over many others with and without tenures at UNT. Anyway, I think RV would like to see the stadium built and UNT playing games in it BEFORE moving on...who knows...only RV and the Shadow know for sure...but, just saying.....

Player Skipping H.s. Senior Year
KRAM1 replied to Censored by Laurie's topic in Mean Green Basketball
So, HS is such a challenge these days that you can spend an "hour or two on line" and graduate??? Other than that, I have no problem with this kid heading off to Europe to pursue his dream of playing pro BB. Who cares...as long as he graduates from HS. If the kid gets hurt and/or is a bust he needs to have a path back to college or the working world that will not land him on the unemployment rolls. Sounds like an injury might be the only thing keeping this kid from a big-time pro career, but one never knows. No problem, go for it. Good that it won't hurt some college's APR too. Good luck, kid...hope you make it!
