Uno Gets A $50 Million Dollar Donation In A Will
KRAM1 replied to stebo's topic in Mean Green Football
Don't forget...Oklahoma sate get $450 million...at least T. Boone says he can still honor that commitment. Where's the T. Boone for UNT???? Surely, there are some fairly wealthy UNT grads in this world. Seems I can recall several famous UNT grads in the entertainment business...any word on donations from that group? I know UNT has had a couple of decent sized donations from "business and academic" grads and friends, but what about UNT famous entertainment grads and/or former students???? Come on, UNT has a new stadium to build! -
And yet, the Pelosi's of the world refuse to see reality and are set to push a vote on a very dangerous and ill-advised "Cap and Trade" bill that will spell death to thousands of US jobs and raise taxes on each and every (tax paying) citizen of the US. And, where will jobs be lost...across the spectrum of American industry and right in the smack middle of the working-middle class that her fellow democrats try to tell everyone they are looking out for against those greedy Republicans. You go, girl! This piece of crap legislation - Cap and Trade Bill - simply has to be defeated. It has to be...I hope some of the more thoughtful democrats will see this for what it is...the largest tax bill in the histroy for the US. Good Grief.

Soccer In America

UNT Lifer...just as a bit of a follow-up...the current issue of Sports Illustrated has a five page spread on the US team and their run in the Confederations Cup. It ends with their win over Egypt. So, I suspect there will be a follow-up article regarding their upset victory over Spain along with coverage for the championship game (Sunday) against Brazil. In case you have missed it, Sports Illustrated in no small rag when it comes to the most read publications focused on sport. Not bad coverage for a semi-final game. -
Michael Jackson Is Dead
KRAM1 replied to UNTflyer's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Innocence or guilt is determined only from a "legal" standpoint during a trial. Actual innocence or guilt can be another matter all together. As we have seen, innocent folks get convicted and guilty ones get acquited. Get a great lawyer or two or three and you are on your way...at least you have a shot... As does Emmitt, I believe in the American justice system, but the justice system is not the ultimate determiner of what is really right and wrong or who is really guilty or not. That may be a bit esoteric (is that a good choice of words here?), and I understand that, but it is what it is...OJ, MJ...both acquitted, legal system says they are innocent...I can live with that...who knows what the real story is with both of them. Trial over...get on with it. Fact..OJ was a great football player, and MJ was the King of Pop...guilty or innocent of the crimes they were accused of committing? Law says innocent.... -
Mavs Get Their Man
KRAM1 replied to NT03's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
BAD DRAFT for the Mavs IF you want to win now. Seems the division competition keeps getting stronger and stronger while the Mavs "stand pat". Standing pat will not get it done in a league where one guy can make so much difference. Just what the Mavs needed a guard that will take a couple of years to "groom". SUPER! DIRK AIN'T GETTING ANY YOUNGER. Hopefully, what they are really focused on is the free agent market...but, who is out there they may have a shot at that could be an impact player for them? -
Nhl Draft Day
KRAM1 replied to KingDL1's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
The NHL has a draft? Who knew? I think, if the Stars land their Swedish goalie prospect a solid defenseman should be the target. Turco needs a solid back-up/understudy who will take some pressure off when he is in one of his "funks". Besides, can Turco have that many "good" years left, and it seems to me that goalie is the key to the Stanley Cup in the NHL. But, I am not anywhere near a big NHL fan, so am certainly not in a position to know the "ins and outs" of such things. But, from the limited number of NHL games that I have attended, it seems the key to it all is how well your goalie plays over an extended period of games. GO STARS! -
Hey, it's not THAT bad at 9:00AM for a 5K. I recently won...yes, I said won...my age group in a local 5K that benefited the Sociology Dept. at UNt tahtw as run at Northlakes Pary starting at 8:30AM. If you are going to have a run, morning is better than evening. And, I am probably as old or older than most on this board, so if I can handle the heat, you can too! Trust me...if you are a runner/walker/jogger and have been getting your runs in then you should have no problem. Now, will i run in this 5K...don't know as yet, but I am giving it serious consideration. By the way...my time beat every male in the 15-19 year age catagory too. If I were one of those runners, I would really hang my head in shame! Ha! Can you imagine that...Anyway, run or not...come on out to the MEAN GREEN KICK-OFF event, pick up your season tickets (you did purchase season tickets, right?) and have a great time with your fellow GMG.com'ers and members of the Mean Green Nation. This is great news as it means Mean Green football is "just around the corner". GO MEAN GREEN...BUY SEASON TICKETS...JOIN THE MEAN GREEN CLUB...JOIN THE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION! HAVE FUN!

Obama's Infomercial
KRAM1 replied to KRAM1's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
And, you know that "for a fact" how? With the scarce little real info being shared by the Administration as to costs, just pray do tell us all how you know that "for a fact". Please and thank you very much. And, as for tort reform...I am with you there 100%. Don't know if a $250,000 cap is the answer, but we darn sure need some REAL REFORM when it comes to the outrageous "pain and suffering", etc. awards these juries are handing out. And, what part of that crap does not lead to higher medical costs and more and more Tests being run to prevent the possibility of lawsuits, etc. Eeally, I share your pain when it comes to the tort reform issue. But, again...tell us how you know that "for a fact"...you will be giving us real info that no one else in the country has as yet...way cool...insider info. Can we be sued if you tell us? -
Obama's Infomercial
KRAM1 replied to KRAM1's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
It wasn't even worth the viewers it did receive. I can say that it was definitely a "bust" from an information stand point. No new info what so ever. Personally I am VERY happy to see such poor ratings. ABC should NEVER have presented such a one-sided and clearly partisian program. Sort of blows the cover for those who think ABC is in any way "fair and balanced" in its "news". It could really have been an informative and balanced discussion of governement sponsored health care programs, but, unfortunately both the Administration and ABC chose to make it a propoganda infomercial devoid of any real substance. I do think both the Obama Administration and ABC missed an excellent opportunity to try to "win" a few "hearts and minds" over on this issue. The result, I believe, will end up being just the opposite. Yet another missed opportunity by this Administration. Really, too bad for everyone. -
Obama's Infomercial
KRAM1 posted a topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Did anyone else watch the Obama Infomercial last evening on ABC regarding his Health care plan? Good grief..in my opinion...what a waste of my time and every other person's who tuned in to hear some "details"...ABSOLUTELY nothing new and no concrete answers ... just more of the same..."well we have to do something" stuff and promise after promise that cannot be held regarding government controlled heath care programs. Name me one country that has a national health care program that does not ration care...go ahead...name one...and there was Obama last night telling the American "sheeple" that his plan would not ration health care, and would, in fact, allow for choice from private carriers...man, what a joke. Just how long will the private plans even be offered through employers when they can switch to the government controlled plan for less cost? Amazing hyperbole last night from the White House. ABC should be ashamed of themselves, but you can bet they think they really scored a home run. I was looking for some concrete information on his plan. At this time there IS NO PLAN. His administration is not even at step one in trying to put together a workable plan. He seemed to me to be asking for help in getting a plan together rather than presenting the basis of the plan he is going to propose. Nothing more than a "campaign-type" speech direct from the White House. Hey, at least I watched the thing hoping that it would be worth the time. WRONG! I am sure some of our other GMG'ers might have a different take...so, did anyone else watch this "event" last evening? -
Soccer In America
KRAM1 replied to UNTLifer's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
REALLY?????? Sounds like one man's opinion to me. I think several countries in Europe made their preference known when NFL Europe tried to make a go of it across the pond. Looks to me like MLS is having a great deal more success "sticking" in the US than NFL Europe had "across the pond"...and just to be "fair"...how many European, Asian and Latin American nation college and universities field US style football teams? I do know that a few in Mexico do. Wghile several US colleges and universities field men's and/or women's soccer programs. Just saying.....but, if it is simply your opinion...I am certainly good with that. -

Gee, such earth shattering sports news and it's not even on the front page of the sports section. The world should take note of this...IT'S BIG! -
Soccer In America
KRAM1 replied to UNTLifer's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Funny...However, check out the front page of the DMN Sports section...top left intro to full page of soccer stories on page 2. Also, it was written up in the Wall Street Journal..it will be in Sports Illustrated as well as the ESPN Magazine and will get decent play in more soccer friendly US Cities as St. Louis, Seattle, New York, etc. And, as far as press goes...it will be covered world wide to a much great extent that the so-call World Series of US Baseball, the Super Bowl, etc., etc. Have fun...it's always fun to hear from the "dark side". -
GREAT 2-0 win by the US over the #1 team in the world. WOW....this is BIG as the US has not been playing well. Next up...Brazil (probably) in the Confederations Cup final. I would NEVER have thought the US squad would make it to the finals...they obviously have received a well deserved wake up call and have heeded the call. We will see if it lasts. If they can follow this win with a good game against Brazil...anything can happen...this game sure proves that. Spain is going to get BLASTED in the Spanish media for this. USA...USA...USA!!!!! GRWAT JOB...now, BEAT BRAZIL....Ok, long shot, but definitely a possibility after this win...I can't wait to watch the replay at home tonight!!!!!

Sad...don't these guys know what zippers are for????? I listened to his "apology" on FOX News...the guy just didn't know when to shut up...maybe that says something about how he got himself into this mess in the first place. And, this guy was...heavy on the WAS...being touted as a possible candidate for the presidency in 2012. That's long gone...and so it should be!!!! GOOD GRIEF!!!! -
Receiver Johnny Quinn A Hit Online And On The Field
KRAM1 replied to mgsteve's topic in Mean Green Football
Way to go Johnny Q. Who knows, this just may lead to a NFL slot...However, until he does get a solid shot in the NFL, he certainly can be a hit in Canada. Great news. GO JOHNNY...GO MEAN GREEN! -
We had all better hope that this piece of very mis-guided legislation goes down in flames....I don't even think her own party supports this piece of PURE JUNK. If this passes every single citizen will feel the very negative effects. This should perhaps be subtitled the "helping to raise unemployment bill". If it does for some crazy reason pass and then get through and actually become law there will be many thousands of newly unemployed as a direct result and every one still lucky enough to have a job will see their taxes and living expenses soar. Some estimates are that this will cause average home electric rates to (at a minimum) double! How's that for helping the "middle class" and the "working poor"? Seems one of Obama's great campaign promises was that he was going to make life so much better for the "average" citizen. I'm still waiting to see anything along those lines even start to emerge from this administration.

Texas Loses Game 1 Of Cws
KRAM1 replied to emmitt01's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I would much rather see a Texas school win it than some Louisiana school. So, GO HORNS!!!! I am not a big UT fan at all, but for me, let's keep the trophy in state so when UNT has a go at it, it won't be too far away! As an Ok State grad (grad school - UNT undergrad) I am none too fond of OU, so I can understand some of the UT "bashing" that goes on, but what I wonder is why folks gets so bothered by UT when they never attended a school that is a rival of UT's. There seems to be quite a bit of that. It's hard to say that UNT is in any way a rival of UT's. I know UNT has played Texas...and played them quite well, I might add, but does UNT really consider itself a UT rival????? I have attended UNT games in both Austin and Norman...while UNT got "hosed" OK, "homered" on a touchdown call in a game, you can't blame UT for that...the referee was BLIND! I've seen (and so have you) plenty of absolutely horrible calls that have gone "both ways" in college games. So, I think the "bashing" should be directed toward SMU...the school that absolutely deserves to be bashed (they have definitely earned it over the years) and the school that could more rightly be considered a UNT "rival" school. But, it's a free country (at least it is at the current time), bash who you want...just buy UNT season tickets and cheer for the MEAN GREEN! GO MEAN GREEN! -
Unt Soccer Represented At Usys Regional Championships
KRAM1 replied to UNTDude's topic in Mean Green Athletics
Great program, Sting! Seems to me on the girls' side these days it;s Sting and Texans with a Solar and a De'feeter team thrown in the top mix now and again. Is that about right? I have always been on the boys' side of Dallas area competitive/select soccer. -
Looks to me like the kid has definitely had a bit of soccer "experience". I have seen this many times on the soccer pitch with "throw-ins". I am not certain it does much for the "throw" in a soccer game, but looks "cool" anyway. Sort of like the bicycle kick...looks great and takes some talent to execute, but does not often work out too well in actually gaining an advantage or a goal. Looks "way cool", however. Anyway...great shot! Take that Kobe, Labron, Dirk, etc.

I have mentioned on several occasions recently to my bride how very different and very powerful the response to the Iranian regime would have been under President Reagan. We can only hope and pray that there is another "Ronald Reagan" left in this great nation of ours to help correct all the mistakes being made by the current administration. Interesting piece in the Wall Street Journal today about how Obama is losing the "independents" after only a few months in office. The feeling among this group is that he is WAY more liberal than they felt he was going to be...gee, imagine that!
