  1. Pretty quiet around these parts, but I wanted to share with you a nice thing that happened yesterday. A friend, and Club Seat holder, handed me $100 yesterday to support this event even though he lives a long way away and will not be able to attend in person. He said to give him five raffle tickets and to keep the other $50 as a donation to Kellie. How great was that? Yes, he already has season tickets, but if he wins he said he will get them into the hands of a non-season ticket holder to help create a new season ticket buyer for next season. Said it was important to get new folks in to Apogee and he was going to try to help by helping a fellow alum at the same time. I cannot tell everyone how positive that comment was and how it sort of lifted my spirits a bit since we have seen some "dead time" here regarding the fund-raiser. So, what do we need? Well, first and foremost, we need 2-person teams to sign-up to play. The fee is $40 per team and the prizes are listed in previous postings about. If you are a "single" and want to play...the fee is $20 and we will pair you up with another player and make sure you get a team. ALSO...this is a co-ed event. Where are the ladies who play? Husband and wife teams are great as are co-ed friends teams, two-person female teams, Moms and sons or daughters, etc., etc. So many great opportunities to form a team, create some quality fun time together while helping a fellow alum chase her Olympic dreams. I know the GoMeanGreen crowd will support this alum...former track athlete...former Cheer Team member...in her quest. Just waiting for some of you folks to "check your schedules" and get back to me... :-) You can post here or send me a PM...all good. Cannot tell you how much I appreciate the close to $500 that has come in through me since we started this thread and event planning. One issue is that $300 of the $500 has been made up by three generous donors and the majority of the rest from yours truly. Needing to see if we cannot get some others here interested in supporting this event...like I always say...any amount helps...even the purchase of one (1) $10 raffle ticket or a flat $5 donation.
  2. There are restroom...no showers.
  3. Would have to look to be sure, but about 5 teams so far. Ben, grab a partner and sign up to play. Going to be fun and you might win some nice prizes.
  4. If you wish. That might be added fun. Thanks so much. You can pay the $40 team entry through the GoFundMe site or you can send a check and avoid those GoFundMe fees. If you PM me I can give you my address if you want to mail it in. Really, really appreciate you stepping up to help. And, I do think we are going to have a great time! 👍👍
  5. Only possible outcome prevailed. This battle flag, designed by the great Jim Hobdy, IS UNT! Glad to see this "official" vote outcome. Even the Russians could not stop this outcome!
  6. Yep...did!
  7. UT receiver WAS out of bounds. Truth!
  8. Yes...and it has never been an issue between athletics and the Alumni Association (in spite of what some folks would like to think). The issue lies with the University and within the area that "rules over" UNT's logos, colors, etc. with a fairly iron fist. RV was upset not at the Alumni Assiciation...at all...but with "other" folks with the University. I have first hand knowledge of this issue. But, on the other hand, lots of workable designs to choose from.
  9. Fastest way to fix it, in my opinion, is great recruiting along with the three areas you mentioned.
  10. Drawing is August 5 at the corn hole tournament. Appreciate your support! Will bring your tickets to the RoughRiders game. Come to the event on the 5th and join us for the fun.
  11. Just picked up the certificate for the Two Season Football Tickets this afternoon. I was assured they will be sideline and nor Wing Zone seats...only exception would be if all sideline seats were sold out. I think, unfortunately, the prospect of that is slim to none...so we have two sideline season tickets for our raffle. Yes, I realize that many of us here already have or will be purchasing season tickets, but why not help out a fellow UNT grad and purchase a raffle ticket or two or three ($10/each) and see if the seats next to you aren't available or seats nearby and introduce some friends to the greatness that is Apogee and UNT football on a fall Saturday? You might just introduce a fellow grad or friend to UNT football and create a future season ticket buyer. Either way...you are really helping a fellow grad who could use our help in fighting to reach her dream of Olympic glory! Also...GoFundMe site has been pretty darn quite lately...as a reminder...here's the link https://www.gofundme.com/kellies-u-s-Olympic-qualifying Any amount...even $5.00 helps more than you could know. If you would like to donate and avoid the GoFundMe fees...just PM me and I will send my address. Together...we CAN do this. Thanks so much Mean Green Nation!
  12. Agree with you. By the way...I had a tour of the new basketball practice facility upgrades today and they are really nice. Nothing ":mind blowing", but several small things and one pretty big dea that does enhance the facility for both our men's and women's teams. Several new graphics...one Nike swoosh banner that has the swoosh made out of what appears to be basketball goal netting pieces...pretty cool. Yes, Ernie's eyes light up green...pretty interesting look when the lights are on! The locker rooms have been updated with charger stations, a game player (X-Box maybe...I have no clue when it comes to that stuff) and graphics and cool green accent lighting. The bigger deal are the nutrition stations that have been added when the players can grad some fruit, energy bars, PowerAde, water, etc. In the men's locker room there were freshly made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. And, before you say anything about the PB&J's...PB&J sandwiches seem to be a "big deal" in the NBA locker rooms these days (or so my tour guide explained). Thought that was interesting. Anyone who thinks the changes made in this facility are a "bunch of nothing", I can assure you, the players think differently. It is interesting to me how important some seemingly small things are when it comes to recruiting and taking care of current players.
  13. Yep...the eyes do, in fact, light up green. Players like it by the way.
  14. Just received a very generous contribution from untcampbell. Thanks you very much, Sir! Will see you at the event on the 5th of August. UPDATE: The format of the event has been changed at the request of John Williams (Estside/Oakstreet owner) to a Two-Man team event. Entry fee per two-man team is $40 per team. Not to worry if you have signed up as a single...we will match you up with a teammate OR grad a buddy and make up your own team... Also...time has been changed to an 11:00AM start on the 5th. John Williams again feels the earlier start will help attendance with a tad cooler temps. John has also sweetened the winners pot...our prizes will now be: 1st: $100 Rally House Gift Card and a $50 bar tab at Eastside 2nd: $50 Hooters Gift Card and $25 Eastside bar tab 3rd: $25 Rudy's Gift card and two Eastside shirts PLUS: ALL PLAYERS will automatically be entered into a drawing for additional gift cards...at the moment we have two (2) Hooters $25 gift cards for this drawing, but we will secure several more by event day. I will keep you posted. Don't forget...we are also drawing for TWO SEASON TICKETS TO THIS SERASON'S UNT FOOTBALL SEASON AT APOGEE. Chances are $10.00 each...PM me or just post here if you can help by purchasing a raffle ticket or two or three. This is going to be a fun event and, hopefully, we can help this UNT Grad out with some of her Olympic Dream quest expenses....
  15. Yep...love that part of the Denton Record-Chronicle. Can often find some real "gems". One reason I continue to subscribe. Often much funnier than the comics page. I do love "The Blotter".
  16. So.....minor penalties for a high profile program for a pretty big "no no" it seems to me. No loss of post-season play? But, have heard that Louisville has suspended Pitino. How long? Don't know. Will they fire him? Highly highly doubtful. Ho hum, the NCAA marches on.
  17. So, yes, it is early...but we have only three committed players for the tournament at this time. We would like to have sisteen players minimum to make it a good tourney. If you would like to play, please think it over and let me know. Really will be a fun time. AND, we will be helping a fellow alum and former athlete as well. Let's do this Mean Green peeps! GoFundMe link: www.//gofundme.com/kellies-u-s-olympic-qualifying Raffle tickets now on sale to win two season ticket's this this years UNT football season at Apogee...$10/each...PM me or just post here if you can help. Remember...lots of great cold beer selections at EASTSIDE...event is Aug. 5th at Eastside in Denton starting at 3:00PM.
  18. Awesome! Welcome HOME!
  19. Four wins would not be good. That is all.....
  20. Excellent...thank you. Will bring the tickets with me. Appreciate your support. Hope you guys will be able to come to the event too. Thank you Sir!
  21. "Did" is past tense. You done? Trust me...lots of folks know of your generosity. And, lots of folks appreciate what you did.
  22. Oh, I am so not getting into this one! 😂😂
  23. I am sort of in the camp of RBP79....and not just in the "being old" part. To me a commitment is just that...my word...a commitment. BUT, I get that in recruiting it pretty much means zilch these days...and that tends to go both ways. We read of coaches pulling offers all the time and leaving kids hanging at the last minute with no offers. Yes, it is more often the playing "backing out", but it does go both ways. I cannot blame the kids entirely because they are being told by every other kid and many adults that they respect that they are "God's gift to football" and are sure future NFL HOF'ers...and have been told such since they were playing pee wee football. That is why I love walk-ins so much. These are often kids who love the game and work their fear ends off to prove that they "belong". Sure, you cannot build a program with walk-ons (even though McCarney seemed to try just that), but these are the guys who play special teams to get on the field, the kids who show up early and stay late to try to prove they belong. So, in a way Vito is right, this IS college football today, where a commitment early to UNT means "I am committed, so save my ship, while I look around for what other people think is a better deal". Is what it is, and another reason I don't much care about "potential". Show me on the field what you have once you actually set foot on the UNT practice field and show me how much you care in the weight room. I want kids who want to be here and see UNT for the program it can be and is developing toward. Goid luck to young Mr Gage. May see him at Apogee in Mean Green green yet. We shall see...we shall see. Either way, I'm good!
  24. Raffle tickets are in! We have only 100 to sell at $10 each, so your chances are pretty good! I realize lots of us have season tickets, but you could win and give them to a friend or relative to help introduce them to the greatness of Apogee and the fun time they can have cheering on the Mean Green! Tell them that beer is sold at Apogee. That will get them! If you can help by purchasing a ticket or two or three, just let me know here or PM me. We can figure out how to get the tickets to you...mail, I can deliver (if local), we can meet up at the Alumni game event at the Roughriders game on July 1st, etc.
