  1. you bet they would. Do not ever underestimate what the "city fathers" of the democratic social repulic of austin will do.
  2. Sure, but UNT has a couple of excellent QB's. I wonder if Cook could play DB or WR?
  3. Folks...please see below the response I received VERY promptly from my email to the Fry Street Public House. I appreciate their quick response, but even more it does look like they will be big supporters of the Mean Green. I did reply and suggest they get the UT stuff off the website...at least in the near term until folks see the support of the Mean green and have a chance to try the place out once it opens. I suggest now, that everyone just relax and give them a shot at having a great opening, give them a try and see how they support the Mean Green. From the response from Byron Crain that I promptly received, it appears to me that they will be supporters of the Mean Green. Good news...for me, I'll be spreading this news and hoping for their success and continued support for the Mean Green. Always good to see a new local business in town...especially one professing to support UNT> GO MEAN GREEN...Thanks Byron. Mark, I have attached our grand opening flyer so you can see that we do believe that UNT and UNT Football is a huge part of our business here. In fact, we have actually scheduled our grand opening with the 1st UNT Football game. In addition, we are also proud sponsors of the UNT Rugby team. I'm sorry you got the idea that we didn't support UNT or UNT Athletics simply because we are hosting a "Watch" party for UT. My business supports everything local. We buy local produce, meats, etc. We are currently in negotiations to try and land the UNT postgame show for the 2010 season with Coach Dodge as well. Again, I'm sorry that you got that feeling by simply seeing one flyer, but since we are not yet open we have not posted many of the events that we will be hosting. In addition, we have also worked we the following organizations and plan on doing so in the near future: UNT Cheerleader UNT Wings UNT Dancers UNT Rugby Just about everything Greek organization that you can name Thank you for your time and hopefully you will have a change of heart! 4. Away games, Joe...certainly we will be in the stands at Fouts for home games. I do so hope you are right and that I am right about the web-site being a "test", etc. As I said, I just sent them an email to ask. I think several folks should do the same. let them know that folks are interested in supporting the Mean Green. And, yes, absolutely...wear Green. I, like many others, get a bit frustrated seeing UNT students walking around with shirts, coats and hats, etc. from "other" colleges and universities. Not nearly as bad as it was a few years ago, but still too many.... "Watch Your favorite Team" for a place on Fry Street should be displaying something related to the Mean Green.....hopefully, they will fix that very soon. GO MEAN GREEN.
  5. Just sent them an email through their website. You have to be kidding me. Tell me that some idiot put the Texas Longhorn stuff up on their site without the owners knowing or realizing what was happening. I am hopeful they will support the Mean Green and fill the place with Mean green stuff, have Mean green watching parties for away games, etc., etc. UNT game day specials would be a good idea too....I find it hard to imagine that the owners would be this clueless...tell me it isn't so. I wonder what would happen to a place across the street from UT that opens with a website banner proclaiming Texas A&M watching party official site!!!!!! On my...oh, me! GOOD GRIEF...and I am always looking for new locally owned places to give a try and spend some $$$$...especially those who support the Mean Green. These guys have already fallen off my radar screen UNLESS changes are made pronto or we find the web site was "opened" prior to approval, etc., etc. GOOD GRIEF Charlie Brown.... GO MEAN GREEN!
  6. Lonnie...Lonnie.....
  7. AT least now we can get Michael Jackson out of the news. Gee, we trade a pedophile for a guy who let a young girl drown in the big news headlines of the day. Oh, my.........
  8. Come on folks...VOTE...UNT is getting clobbered. Need to step it up...VOTE EARLY...VOTE OFTEN! GO MEAN GREEN!
  9. Decent article...good PR for the program. Any team with a father-son connection at the QB/Head Coach positions would get played in media as a "big deal". This is not the first time this has happened in college sports and will not be the last. It's good PR for UNT as it gets the team and the program on the radar screens of media outlets that would otherwise pay little attention...until of course, UNT goes Bowling once again. GO MEAN GREEN...keep those cards and letter coming in!
  10. I agree with SilverEagle on both points. Great job, Patrick...you have definitely earned it! GO MEAN GREEN!
  11. Are we really doing this thread again? OK, I'll bite...I say 5 wins...6 is not out of reason IF UNT gets some "good bounces" and a bit of good luck. But, I am going with 5-7...it's written down on the poster at Unique Barber Shop in Denton, so how could I change or deny it????? GO MEAN GREEN! It starts at Ball State!
  12. I was told they would all be at noon at the Pourhouse on Mondays. Seems the NCAA requires that players get one day a week "away from coaches", and that Coach Dodge has decided to let Sunday be the off-day for the players. Not bad...a family friendly day...after a game in many cases and a chance for the players to watch pro football on TV which was hard to do if you were watching film, practicing, etc. on Sundays. So, that would make sense that the Coach Show would be on Monday's at noon to make an evening Monday practice. I hope there is a good lunch turnout on Mondays. As I do not work in Denton, I'll not be able to attend the show this season. However, I hope there is a BIG turnout for the shows. If you work in denton...take a client with you to the show for a business meal. You might even win over a new Mean Green fan. Could happen.... GO MEAN GREEN!
  13. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your wife at this very challenging time. Sorry also to hear about your wife's situation at work.
  14. I got a UNT sticker posted at Urban BBQ in Washington, DC area...does that count? GO MEAN GREEN!
  15. Good stuff...good to see the national press write-up on the Mean green...and yes, not too bad at all in MHO. GO MEAN GREEN!
  16. Bill, you could be in trouble if that "early arrival" is any indication of political leanings...I was a "premie" myself...now, look what you have to look forward too if that possibility holds true. BRING ON THOSE PICS!
  17. Now, that, was indeed, painful to watch. I can't believe I made it through the whole thing. Charlie nt73. Nice recap of the scrimmage. As you know, I also feel this team will be much improved over the last couple of teams we have seen play for the Mean Green. Some folks are just not going to find anything positive to say about this coach, this team, this QB, etc. No problem. I understand why they may be a bit skeptical as we have all witnessed some pretty tough losses the last couple of years. But, like you, I think UNT is ready for some serious payback this season. I am looking for a min. of 5 wins and with any luck and a few good bounces, UNT could get that 6th win. I think many people will be pleasantly surprised by what they see against Ball State from the Mean Green. GO MEAN GREEN.
  18. Seems to me the left was pretty quick to use the Nazi/Hitler card in describing the Bush Administration from time to time. I really don't think "conservatives" have a "copyright" on this slur. However, I do agree with your point...can we not get past this poor analogy? It is not very "appealing" to either side.
  19. Harry...nice write up....not much I would disagree with either including the potential challenges we have with the WR position at this point. I do think one of two of these guys will step up and find a way to solidify that position for the Mean Green. At least, I have my fingers crossed. GO MEAN GREEN!
  20. Bill, is this your first???? Wow congratulations...my bride and I are awaiting a new grand kid in November...kept Austin Ball (1 year old son of ex-Mean Green kicker Jason Ball and wife Crystal) all day Saturday after the scrimmage...man, I forgot what a handful these little guys can be...BUT, what fun. Enjoy, Bill...congratulations...bring on the photos!!!!!
  21. OK, time for a little humor...best line delivered by a Mean Green fan in the stands at the scrimmage today...from none other than the Mean Green's own super fan, Rick Spears...Rick, it's classic...I hope your bride does not see this board, but the line is priceless and should be shared... "That guy moves like my wife...a concrete block with hair"!!!!!!!!!! By the way...I've already used it on my bride today...for some reason that escapes me, she did not seem to think it was as funny as I do! Thanks for the line, Rick.... Greatness! (just to be fair, Rick was also very complementary of his bride, so we all know he was just kidding...besides we also know Rick's wife is already marked for sainthood staying married to Rick for as long as she has)
  22. Makes that 1-0 loss a bit easier to take...I still think UNT should have at worse come out of the TCU at a 0-0 draw if not a win. I expect very good things for the Mean green this season...good squad, good coach...another good year brewing for the Mean Green.
  23. I too went to the scrimmage today...I think NT03 and I were watching different teams and different players. His impression of the state of the team is nowhere near mine. I came away knowing that we have some excellent running backs, a very capable backup QB, some very active linebackers, a much better coverage secondary, a better tackling squad (yes, still some work to do, but it was a scrimmage), a much improved OL and a DL...while not where I would like it to be right now, still improved over what we have seen the last couple of years. As to Riley, yes, if you were looking for his mistakes and came with the opinion that he is not the QB UNT needs, then...OK, he had some challenges today...however, I saw quickness, I saw a kid very capable of running the offense. Did he miss a couple of passes he should definitely have hit...YES...did his receivers drop a couple they definitely should have caught...YES...did his arm strength look wonderful today? Well, I have to agree that some passes seem to have been lofted and ripe for picks. Were those the majority? Not from where I was sitting. I am fully ready to see Riley lead this offense into the Ball State game and into a much more successful year than the last two. BTW...even though SUMG ragged on me the entire time...it was a great day to be with members of the Mean Green Nation. My thanks to all who came out to watch the Mean Green scrimmage today. Can't wait for the season to get here....GO MEAN GREEN!
