WOW! Simply WOW! What a great night it was watching the Mean Green with other members of the Mean Green Nation at Fox & Hounds in Lewisville. Thanks to the Alumni Assoc. for setting up these watching parties around the metroplex and in Austin/Houston, etc. Nice crowd...exciting and energetic crowd. Simply great. DO YOU BELIEVE NOW???? It was great watching that Riley kid QB lead the Mean Green to Victory...anyone else think that Todd will get an earful from Mrs. TD after the game for yelling at Riley on the sidelines??? Ha! You go Dad! You know that Riley kid who is "too small", "too slow", "too frail", "too inexperienced" QB'ing for his dad who "can't coach", "runs a HS program", "can't", can't", "can't"...oh, man, it was great to watch...DO YOU BELIEVE NOW???? To pick it up after Ball State tied the score and march town for the go-ahead score says more than anything else about this team other than maybe the vastly improved defensive effort we saw. Yep, I agree with some of the areas mentioned that need some "looking into" and "working on", but, WOW, what a difference a year makes. Anyone now think this team has not had a "change of attitude" and is not "together" as a team? SO...now all, no excuses...go get those season tickets and let's fill Fouts field!!!!! What's stopping you now? WOW...WOW....WOW! 20-10! SUPER win...SUPER...I am still hoarse from all the cheering last night...WOW! In the immortal words of James Brown, "I Feel Good"! GO MEAN GREEN! DO YOU BELIEVE NOW! Bandwagon has some seats left...it's a great time jump on...and you are very welcome to do so! WOW!

Six...WOW! Congratulations to you and your bride. Sounds like you have a very lively household, and it is probably never dull at your house. Little Mean Green nation memebrs all...go MEAN GREEN. Congrats!

Not too Mean green football related, but who cares...this is a great story of a kid thinking fast to save the lives of a bunch of innocent people. Way to go...this is the sort of kid any program would be excited to have involved with their program. Can we find a way to get him to come to UNT????? Just saying...... Great post...too often we read about the "garbage" athletes seem to get themselves involved in from time to time...nice to read about this kid.

Obama To Speak To School Kids
KRAM1 replied to KRAM1's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I think it might be aimed more at HS and Jr. High/Middle School aged kids. If this group doesn't know who the guy talking to them is this nation really does have BIG challenges.... -
Yep, a great football game! OK, seriously, the folks at the Pourhouse do a great job and there usually is some sort of drinl and/or food special...just ask your server person.

Mother, when I grow up can I be as arcane as Quoner?????? Please, please! -
I'm definitely OK with is. It's a Ball State blog/site. So, expect nothing less that pure "homerism". Until UNT comes out with a bit of "smash mouth" football this evening and knocks them on their "oh, so intimidating mascost's tail", it's easy to see where they are coming from. I love the mascot comparison and maybe this site should do the same...pretyy funny...and, if anyone here thinks Scrappy stikes fear in any opponet, you really have been smoking the funny weed. Scrappy id a very "friendly" looking mascot...so what. I love Scrappy just the way he is and think Scrappy is the best...sure beats the Dallas Cowboy and even the OSU Cowboy for that matter. After Ball State loses this evening, I'll let them decide if they want to call UNT the "eagles" or the "Mean Green". But, you know...they do have a point with that. GO MEAN GREEN!

I for one hope RV is in no way interested. He has "work to do" yet here at UNT with the stadium and the "re-building" of a winning football program...both on the way to completion. So, I sure hope he doesn't want to even consider the move. Should he for the sake of his career and family, etc.? good question...is it really the "step up" that he could make once the new stadium is built, the fan base has grown, the contribution levels have increased and the football team, basketball teams, etc., etc. are winning? And, not to mention that baseball team is going that so many of you folks on this board seem to want UNT to field. Finish all that and the Big XII, SE, PAC 10, etc. conferences just might come calling. If RV leaves, i want him to leave for the recognized "Big Time"...that would be a plus for UNT. Just not sure TCU is there for the long-haul as a "bigger time" program...remember when SMU thought they were "big time"????

Hard to belive, isn't it? Being such a thought provoking subject and all that. OK, sorry, just couldn't resist...no one's taking a shot at you Quoner, so don't get mad! -
Obama To Speak To School Kids
KRAM1 replied to KRAM1's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
And, just why would I get mad????? The board and responses may disappoint me at times, but they certainly don't make me mad...not worth the effort getting mad over. Opinions are just that "opinions" and absolutely worth what you pay for them...everyone has them... Besides, all are Mean Green fans at heart, right? Is it a problem that I missed a discussion on the radio about this topic? The radio dial has several choices the last time I looked, so maybe others missed it too...sorry you don't like the subject matter. I am sure you have much more important things to discuss....but, perhaps someone else might have an opinion. I was simply looking for what other Mean Green and GMG.com fans think about it. No charge for admission to the thread and no requirement that anyone respond. GO MEAN GREEN. -
Come on 6:30PM...it's a great day in the MEAN GREEN NATION!

OK, so I'm hearing all this talk about Obama going to talk directly to school kids through TV hook-ups in schools about staying in school, being responsible for getting their school work done, etc., etc. OK, I'm thinking no big deal. This has been done before...I recall the first Pres. Bush doing the same thing discussing illegal drug use or something like that...Then I start hearing the folks start shouting "foul"...we can't let this happen. What? Now, most folks on this board know I lean just a tad to the right on most any issue relating to politics...but, I am having a difficult time finding any issue with this. He IS the president of the United States. Like him or hate him, he IS the president. A sitting president with a live broadcast into the public schools...pretty cool I'm thinking. OK, yes, it should be 100% non-partisan, he should stick 100% to the announced topic (staying in school, being responsible, etc.)...with no even veiled suggestions regarding health care or any other of the day's hot political issues, and he should keep it short...none of those rambling things he does when he is in a set up press conference, etc. If he does that, and the schools are not then all going to tell the students to write an essay on how they can "help the president"...yes, this message has been sent to the schools by the administration as a "suggested" assignment....then i say "go for it". When i was in public school I would have loved to have seen a sitting president speak directly to us...and, yes, they did have television when I was in school. BUT, you know all the late night comedy guys would already be writing their scripts IF this was the then President George W. Bush who was going to speak directly to the public schools on ANY issue. let's see if that happens to Mr. Obama...I sincerely doubt it. What say you...I think it's pretty cool (if he plays "fair" and that's a VERY big if with this administration).

Excellent...and no one corrected his spelling or grammar or posted something bad about the coach or starting QB. Imagine that. This guy is good...we need to make him an honorary member of GMG.com! I like his thinking here! Funny...you go Wilber. I'll bet he's a great guy to tailgate with on game days! But, poor Wilber will be so very sad on the drive home after the Mean Green beat his Cardinals this evening! GO MEAN GREEN!

Perhaps you have seen the info regarding UT deciding to stop offering National Merit Scholarships to "save" the funds for more "need based" scholarships. OK, first...does that mean No National Merit Scholars have financial needs? Pretty elitist attitude if you ask me on the part of UT...however, that is beside the point...looks again like someone is all about "needs based" as opposed to also rewarding high academic achievement regardless of financial capacity. So, UT is dropping out of one of the most prestigious academic scholarship programs around in favor of only "need based" funding. To quote the UT Office of Student Financial Services, "We want high achieving students here at the University of Texas. It really just came down to a budgetary decision about where to best direct our resources. We want to make sure for students who are meritorious enough to get here but who may have financial need that we are able to fill that need". Just wondering do you buy that when National Merit Scholarships are not funded entirely through University funds but rather through a nonprofit organization supported by companies ans individual universities. Just wondering what your take on this might be. Interesting move on the part of UT in my opinion...these universities, including UT, seem to always be touting the number of National Merit Scholars they enroll.

Thank you GreenBat. Quoner, are you serious? I just never know. Still waiting for my royalty checks to start arriving BTW.

Question...are these things called "Tweets" or "Twits"...is it Tweeter or Twitter? Come on...don't be too hard on me...I have an excuse....don't ask!

"No matter the situation I will not let this team quit. Once you learn to quit, it becomes a habit. Success is not an option." "The time to dominate is drawing nearer... I need the non-believers to tune into ESPNU and watch us shock the world!" "They tell me good luck this week. An old Texas coach said, Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity. We have prepared." "Praise God for a good day today. I hope Ball State is saying their prayers. Amen." All of the above are from Tobe's Twitter blog...I think that in line 2 above he might just be talking about some folks here on GMG.com. I really like this kid's attitude, and I think it speaks volumes as to where this thought processes and preparations are heading into the Ball state game Thursday. I love to watch Tobe play and I love the attitude. I think the Mean Green is prepared and ready to "surprise" a bunch of folks Thursday evening. I'll be watching and expect to be having a great time! Keep it up Tobe and good luck to you and to all the Mean Green. BEAT BALL STATE...GO MEAN GREEN!

What you said. -
You can also pick up a "way cool" "TANK ARMY" t-shirt (for less cost by the way)...designed by the one and only drex... at the Lewisville Fox & Hounds watch party Thursday evening. One for $12.00 or two for $20.00. Costs less and supports scholarships at UNT! If you are not attending the Lewisville location watching party they will also be available before home games at the Alumni tailgate area. Trying to get some for sale at the Clark area watch party, but do not know for sure at this time. GO MEAN GREEN!
