  1. Charlie...I agree 100%. I made that comment to folks around me in the stands several times...this kid can kick! NICE! UNT...home of star D-I kickers. The best is also yet to come...position looks great for a few years to come. Nice...very important spot on the roster...as are all special teams players.
  2. Of course UNT can beat Alabama...that's why you play the game. Thanks to SUMG for reminding me that "Joe Willy" was our QB when we beat Tennessee. After that Tennessee win, I have believed that UNT could be anyone on any given day. Now, what are the odds??? Well, much better than the last two years, but still fairly "long". Nathan will get the vast majority of work this week at practice and will be much better prepared to enter the game as #1 should that be the case. I have confidence in Nathan's ability to get the job done for however long he is called upon to do so. And, I for one, are even more happy now that Nathan agreed to stay at UNT and play. Now, will UNT beat "Bama? I don't bet on these things and I am glad I don't. I'll just keep the faith stir up some more Green Kool-Aid and wish it so. GO MEAN GREEN! Man, it was fun at the Ohio game...I was very proud of the crowd...including the student turnout and those that braved the rain to tailgate. The fans made the absolute best out of a messy game day. To all who made the game...
  3. Another one of Obama's "favorites" falls...the guy can sure pick his friends and associates well, can't he? Glad to see the Census dropping ACORN...I wonder if they will now just hire the ACORN folks as "individual" census workers? Makes you wonder, doesn't it?
  4. Congrats to Coach Hedlund and the ladies! Nice win...that's 2 against the Big 12 this season...super job on a sloppy field....well played. By the way Coach Lowe did a great job with the men,s soccer team...when UNT HAD a men's team that is...went to the NCAA's and I believe those men's teams were/are the "winningest" teams in UNT history. Coach Hedlund was an assistant for Coach Lowe and took over the ladies when they KILLED the men's program due to Title IX issues. Coach Hedlund is on his way to matching Coach Lowe's records...he just needs to win a few conference crowns and get into the NCAA's. IT WILL HAPPEN...way to go ladies and Coach Hedlund. GO MEAN GREEN!
  5. We still have a giant hole in the ground because the government is involved. The same folks who some people want to run our health care system. If the government had stayed out of the way the towers or a replacement would probable be well on their way to being rebuilt...not at the snail's pace it is progressing. But, I am more than pleased to see some progress being made. Get it done...if for no other reason than to stick it in the eye of the folks who thought they could put a "black eye" on America by bringing them down in the first place. Got to get this project completed...it means so very much. May God bless and protect all those who work each and every day to keep America and its citizens safe from this sort of harm, and may God bless and protect our "first responders" who each and every day place their lives on the line for the rest of us. Heroes all!
  6. Oh, but ACORN is just a community minded group working for the benefit of all...right? What a joke...just another indication of the type of "community minded individuals and groups" this current administration supports and honors! Amazing stuff this...it just keeps getting better and better...cannot wait for the 2010 mid-terms. Can't get here soon enough.
  7. FORGET, NEVER! Just never forget who did this and why they did it, and GOD BLESS the men and women working hard to make it right! We have heroes walking with us each and every day. Take time to stop and thank a hero for all they sacrifice for all of us!
  8. In case anyone was wondering...the human body does not melt away in rain...rain does not cause the Swine Flu or any other disease...it does not cause your hair to fall out, nor does it cause you to go sterile....get some rain gear and get yourself to the game! GO MEAN GREEN...it's going to be a great day to be part of the Mean Green nation....RAIN OR SHINE! The team earned your attendance through their effort against Ball State. I hope the MEAN GREEN NATION responds. I will! GO MEAN GREEN!
  9. OSU did make the trip to Denton...and got beat! GREAT GAME!
  10. That is soooooo very bad!!! I have three games to referee Saturday morning...where does your daughter play? I hope for NO RAIN for either soccer or UNT Football. You know, if it gets rained out it will probably be rescheduled. You aren't getting out of anything!
  11. OK, it's too quiet and too sane around these days...where are Quoner and Tasty? Did they get banned again for some minor indiscretion or have they just stopped playing in the sandbox? I even PM'd Quoner and he has not replied...how very un-Quoner like. DO we need to start another "Free Quoner and Tasty" picket line???? Just wondering. You just miss "old spot" when he's not around for awhile. Anyone know? GOOD THINGS ARE HAPPENING FOR UNT FOOTBALL AND QUONER AND TASTY GO AWOL. What up with that? I hope someone has not kidnapped them and will be holding them for ransom.
  12. Great photos...thanks for posting... GO MEAN GREEN!
  13. I really don't know if it was the speech itself, that got some folks so fired up...but rather the "study guide" distributed by Obama's folks suggesting ways the students could "help" the president..."help" in this case being the operative word that some folks took to mean "help" him move his agenda forward. The "study guides" have been pulled...or so I hear...if so, I favor allowing the President of the United states the opportunity to speak directly to our students. It is a very good civics lesson should our teachers latch on to it. Great "entry" to the study of how the house and senate work, the relationship to the President/White House, etc., etc. Three branches of governament and all that. I dare say that most folks, including adults, really have very little knowledge of how the house and senate really work. The committee process can be very confusing and it certainly does not work the same way in both the house and senate. Anyway, I see this as a great learning opportunity. Like the guy and his politics or not...and it is not a secret that I do not care for the man's politics AT ALL...but he is the President of the United States. Still the greatest nation on the face of the earth.
  14. UNT - 28 Ohio U - 17 Can't recall, and don't want to look it up eiher, what I first predicted in another thread, but this will do... UNT is 2-0 heading to Alabama! GO MEAN GREEN...and yes, this team looks better than Ball State to me...but, as anoyther poster said, Riley will not make the same mistake twice. UNT will capitalize on its chances and the kicking game will be much improved after getting the first game jitters out of the way...big crowd helps UNt to the victory...BE STILL MY HEART...UNT is 2-0 ofet the Ohio game.
  15. I would be a bit shocked if he went to Houston...even with Dad coaching there...too many other quality teams after him. The kid is obviouslyb talented and rated as the #1 prospect in thbe Nation in some rankings...U of H would have a pretty tough time with that in competition against other schools, but, as we Mean green faithful know...don't underestimate the lure of a kid playing for their father....just don't think it will happen in this case. GO MEAN GREEN.
  16. I noticed the stickers, and wondered the same thing about it being the first game...in between the "man, that is so high school", that I kept thinking every time I saw them...yes, I know Ohio State, etc. does the same thing...still, seem so very high school to me.
  17. Fantastic...now that's what I mean! GO MEAN GREEN! I am ready to "get my green on" again and head to Fouts for Saturday's WIN over Ohio! Great stuff this!
  18. 22-23K....with a really good student turnout...up to 25K. The Mean green Nation just HAS to turn out for this...too many have said...show me the wins and I'll come...well...YOUR TURN now! GO MEAN GREEN! I can't wait for next Saturday at Fouts....UNT 28 - Ohio 17! 2-0 for the Mean Green heading to Alabama. You heard it here first...well, maybe.....here first that is.
  19. He would never play another down on any team I was coaching. Totally out of line and bizarre. No excuses here...thanks for the "after thought" apology...at least that...but adios. Scholly gone too...maybe some other team will let you play for them.....GOODBYE!
  20. Chauvinist...get up off the sofa and make it yourself. Unless, of course, your lovely bride has a "special recipe".
  21. Tobe is a leader on this team...he really can "bring it"! I hope he learned that you don't have to "ride the guy to the ground" and pick up a hold to get in the way of a pursuing tackler. Glad to see his work after the unfortunate hold on the pick for what we thought was a TD. You are the man, Tobe! Nice game...keep it going...your leadership is showing! Anyone now still think his twitter account thing interferes with his game prep?
  22. So, with the countless threads on the board about where the watch parties were being held around the area, how could you not know where you could go in Denton to watch the game with other members of the Mean Green Nation? OK< sorry, but, you know...just asking.....Campus was set up also at Clark! Glad you made it to F&H...that's where I watched the party...nice place...cold beer...decent food...and a good and loud group of Mean Green fans...
  23. But, of course, you do. What would tradition be if someone didn't? It's just odd that it is coming from you and not the "usual suspects". You must get up earlier.
  24. Yep, very prepared from the opening stop by the "D" to the comeback winning points in the 4th. No panic in these kids...and, gee, who head's up that coaching staff who had these kids so prepared? Maybe it takes a couple of seasons for a coach to get "his" team together, install his programs, etc., etc. You think? BEAT OHIO U.....and be there to see the game in your seat at FOUTS!!!! Just got to have a super crowd for the home opener and win #2...UNT 2-0 heading into the Alabama game...what a difference a year makes! WOW! GO MEAN GREEN!
