Thanks for the info...good to hear...RB is one position that I think everyone can agree that UNT is pretty well set! UNT=RB U....who would have thought under a TD offense! Just goes to show, things do change from time to time...but, it's not like UNT is going to be a 3 yards and a cloud of dust offense. At least i hope not...I think Lance could have another 100+ day this Saturday. The O-Line is opening some nice running lanes for him and the other RB's. Of course, the UL-Monroe defensive front has been pretty good of late and could well have something to say about it before the day is done. But, I'm thinking lance goes for 100+...not the 200+ he has been gaining. GO MEAN GREEN!

Football: Second Half Adjustments Give Unt Defense Boost
KRAM1 replied to mgsteve's topic in Mean Green Football
It is beyond my scope of imagination that some folks would actually believe that Coach Dodge would do things that HE believes would be a detriment to the program. You simply have got to be NUTS or so biased in your view as to be loony to think anyone would purposefully hurt their own ability to be successful due to ego or anything else for that matter. That's the thinking..."OK, I know we would have a much better defense if Coach DeLoach were on the sidelines, but the guy has too big an ego and it would be better if the defense played poorly than to have Coach DeLoach on the same sideline with me! That way, my offense will look so much better than his defense and I can get rid of the guy after the season and blame all the losses on his bad defense!" Now...seeing that...what part of it makes any sense to a sane rational thinking person. Good grief, some of you folks just need to stop letting you bias get in the way of solid thinking. Amazing...and, did you really graduate from UNT????? With that level of rational thinking??? You are kidding, right? -
Gee, what do they know...you know all these predictions are rubbish...wait...UNT is a one point favorite in another forecast...OK, I believe that one...but this Harmon one is pure rubbish!
-
Hey, great news...thanks for your continued support of the Mean Green. I know you are a Mean Green Nation member...glad you joined the Mean Green Club as well....way to go. Your support is both appreciated and needed.

Back to the topic of this thread please...this is a very good deal for UNT. Think of the size of the crowd that might attend both of these games...WOW! Playing SEC and Big XII teams in denton is a big deal. I like it...bring 'em on! GO MEAN GREEN!

I am beginning to think this is how the dems will get Obamacare passed...simply amazing...a fine American representative at work upholding and supporting the US Constitution.... Maybe you have seen this...I had not. I do not care if this was a Republican, a democrat or an Independent abusing power like this guy...it is absolutely criminal and should be punished severely. Great work by that Great American hero John Murtha! Good Grief.

And, you promised never to tell....just kidding. But I had a good excuse...I was in Munich for Oktoberfest...and I was wearing a Mean Green shirt at Oktoberfest in penance for having to miss the game. Never fear Quoner, we all know you attend the games whenever possible...everyone gets a pass once in awhile. What's up...your bride have "other" plans for you this weekend? Whatever it is, I hope you have a great time. I think it's because you still haven't picked up your Tank Army T-Shirt!!!
-
Good to see some folks besides MEAN GREEN fans think UNT will not only be in this game, but could actually come away with another "W". I like it!!!!!! MEAN GREEN wins its second in a row Saturday!!! Be there to see it. By the way, Shaft, are you planning on attending? I still cannot get an answer from you about whether you actually attended the WKY game. Oh, well, will be be in attendance this Saturday to see the Mean Green in person???? Just wondering. If so, drop by the Alumni Tailgate area...would love to meet another GMG.com-er and sell you a TANK ARMY T-Shirt! I'll be there no later than 1:45PM...I have to referee three soccer games Sat. morning before I can get to Fouts. But come on by.... Oh, by the way...Quoner...I still have that t-shirt you ordered waiting on you...come on by...and do let us know where that Pit BBQ spot is on the Denton Square. I try to frequent locally owned places and I don't want to miss this one. Really, I am always up for trying a new food spot. Really.... GO MEAN GREEN!

Football: Second Half Adjustments Give Unt Defense Boost
KRAM1 replied to mgsteve's topic in Mean Green Football
Has anyone thought to ask Coach Dodge about this at his weekly Radio Show at the Pourhouse? Unfortunately, I still have to work for a living and am not in Denton, so the show is out for me, but I know some GMG.com folks go...anyone think to ask why DeLoach is in the press box????? Just wondering...I know it's easier to ask on the board when you are not face to face with Coach Dodge, but would anyone want to ask? It is not a "bad" or "challenging" question if you don't use a judgemental tone when asking the question. And, to me it is a very legit question to ask. Just wondering... GO MEAN GREEN. PS...I am also disappointed to hear that Coach DeLoach will be back in the press box for the UL-Monroe game. -
Oh, man, don't say that. I mentioned that a couple of times to the folks who sit around me at the games, and some guy probably about 78-82 years old whom I had never seen before jumped my case asking how much coaching I had done in my life. Told him I coach "every day" and that he was "barking up the wrong tree". Guy, said, well I was a coach for 37 years...I've been there. And then he sat and stewed awhile longer before leaving the area. gave me plenty of dirty looks on the way down the aisle too. Really funny...if he only knew. It might have been my comment about the defense looking a bit like Mendoza's defenses of the past, and my wishing (out loud) that DeLoach would get out of the press box and back on the field "where he belongs". Maybe the guy was part of the SouthLake Carroll crowd sitting a few rows behind us and to our left...wearing those SLC ball caps. Maybe a friend of Mendoza's...who knows. But, man, it was too funny...the guy really got hacked. See you miss this stuff if you don't come to the games.

Gmg.com Bb Game
KRAM1 replied to KRAM1's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
OK, looks like we might have enough to play a GMG.Com BB Shootout. I'll start looking into locations around campus and some dates...I will also PM folks to get a "solid" commit...some of the responses here do not really say "yea or nay", and if we are going to do this, and front the costs involved...folks need to yea or nay for sure...given unforeseen things happening later...I get that. For the "out of towners"...any better time to do this. I am looking at perhaps a March date...you know, March Madness and all that... PLEASE let me know. This could be a great way to have a game and then an after-game food-fest! Who wants to coach? We will need 2 coaches who will be willing to draft players when the time comes...any takers?????? -
Yes, I expected to see you at the Alumni tent Saturday....glad you had a great pre-game meal...just where was that great pit BBQ on the square? I am not aware of a BBQ joint on the square in Denton. Could it have been just off the square???
-
If the defense shows up at the start of the game (and maybe they will if DeLoach stays on the sidelines a full game) UNT will be in this one all they way. Lance will get just over 100 yards rushing and Riley will pass for 250+. Just enough to keep it close going into the 4th quarter when the "D" will make a stand, pick up a turnover and the Mean Green will pull this one out late at 31-28. It's going to be a great weekend weather-wise, it's not Halloween, so no excuses for a poor attendance or a poor tailgate after the "win" last Saturday. Let's get out and support the Mean Green. I'll be there with the "bride" selling Tank Army T-Shirts in the Alumni tent.... You know...the Alumni tailgate area makes a great tortilla wrap, and they give them away to alums and fans...you can "eat" and get a Tank Army shirt at the same time... GO MEAN GREEN!
-
But, shaft, you did not answer my question...were you in attendance at the game??????
-
Received my tickets in the mail when I got home from the UNT WIN last evening...I agree with greenjoe...nice ticket package. See you at the Super Pit!
-
"A meaningless win". That, shaft, is the most meaningless comment made all year! A 1 win team gets their second win and you call it meaningless. Get real. A win is a win and this team needed a win. Meaningless my foot!!! By the way...were you in attendance???? Just wondering. GO MEAN GREEN!
-
I do not disagree...at all. But, just a question...why are people so willing to give DeLoach a pass when "his" defense plays so poorly, but so ready to jump on TD when "his" team plays poorly? If it isn't any thing at all to do with the defensive coordinator when the D plays poorly as a unit, why is it TD's fault all the time with some folks? Just asking as I sense a big time double standard with some folks on this board. I happen to think DeLoach and TD should both be back to lead the Mean green next season. GO MEAN GREEN!!!
-
No way the D played any where near its potential yesterday. DeLoach definitely needs to stay on the sidelines. It was great fun watching him chew on a few players to get them "motivated" once he made it down to the sidelines. If the D looks this bad again next week, something is definitely up! They'll get it together for next week....I believe! GO MEAN GREEN!
-
I think it's pretty obvious that some folks will just find something negative to say about Riley or TD no matter what happens. Too bad...but, some folks are just that way. UNT with Riley at QB could beat UT and the same folks would find something negative to say....OK, just come to the games...oh, I forgot ... many of these folks NEVER come to the games.... for those that do, I hope you found the weather nice, at least! Go Mean Green! Nice win...nice job, Riley...nice to know that Riley will only get better and better as a DI QB.
-
Great to be there for the win. So very glad to se DeLoach back on the sidelines WHERE HE BELONGS. Defense played a great 1/2 of 1 qtr...but, that's when it counted the most! O-Line did and excellent job,,,special teams...well, we'll leave that for someone else to discuss...Offense and Riley did a fine job...just what can you say about Lance Dunbar excepy WOW,,,great to see there ad be there for the win. See you next Saturday...GO MEAN GREEN!!!!! PS...Agree...Green Brigade was great today...nice to see it! Well done!
-
UNT 38 Hilltoppers 21 D gives up a few points without Toby to keep them fired up, but they make the stops when they need to and Riley puts up some points with Dunbar getting another 150 + yards. GO MEAN GREEN!!!!
-
#1 You have absolutely NO CLUE what people get and "don't get" #2 Who named you the "knower" of all things coaching-wise at UNT? #3 Your opinion is no more valid than anyone else's here on this site Try to relax a little and have some fun. Your routine is getting old just like your avatar.....At least I know deep down you really do like the Mean Green...you just have some sort of strange man crush on TD...admit it!

The Jr. Mean Green Club has not set up a trick or treat tailgate event. If it has it must be the best kept secret at UNT and one that very few tailgaters know anything about. Can you provide some details as even the folks at the Alumni Center I asked to bring candy (and who immediately agreed I might add) had no idea that any trick or treating jad been set up for the tailgate crowd. Great if they do, but it sure is a secret as I have found no one yet who knows bout it. Maybe it's sent out in secret code only to current JR Mean Green Club members. Quoner, please update me on this...maybe it should be expanded...what ya think??? GO MEAN GREEN...GO JR MEAN GREEN CLUB TRICK OR TREATERS!!!!!!

Joe...we all know which bar. At least they sponsor UNT game watching parties and a certain Coach Show on Monday's. That's a bunch more than many other fine local establishments. And, I for one, appreciate what they do in support of the Mean Green. Yes, it is sad that wait staff was wearing UT and TT 'stuff". I tried to get some folks to sell Tank Army shirts that day to no avail (I was personally unavailable). If we had, maybe we could have taken up a collection and bought them Tank Army shirts and supported UNT scholarships at the same time. When a current student would rather wear a UT shirt than a UNT shirt, that, to me, says more about the student than it does the establishment she/he is working for at the time. You wonder about Denton's attitude...well, when the students don't care enough you can understand why the "locals" seem to be so-so in support. Things are getting better...slowly, yes, but better all the same. People who support UNT just can't give up...we all need to keep the faith and it will continue to get better and better.
