  1. Buying season tickets and going to the game with friends...priceless Enjoying great tailgating with friends and Mean Green nation members...priceless Seeing a new stadium unfold in my lifetime...priceless Enjoying that game day atmosphere and the great looking coeds on a Saturday afternoon...priceless Free beer...priceless Meeting GMG.com members at each game...priceless Getting to meet fans from the opposing team before and after each game...priceless Being in a stadium for a college football game...priceless Talking Mean Green football around the water cooler at work...priceless Looking forward to each home game...priceless Watching the Green Brigade the last few games...priceless (they seem to have gotten even better) OK, I could go on...but I'll end (sort of) with a paraphrase of a quote from the ever infamous, Quoner, "it's only a game"! Come on folks...plenty to enjoy! The wins WILL come, and they will be so sweet to see from my same seats at Fouts next year! GO MEAN GREEN!
  2. Interesting...I mentioned that it was "at the end of the day only a game" and got blasted! Where's the "fair and balanced" on this board????
  3. Good attendance for the Army game, and it just shows what playing schools people know and care about can do for attendance. Nice to see the students show up in decent numbers too.
  4. Cloud Cover too low...it was announced at the game. I told several folks in the area that I thought it would be too low of a ceiling for the jump. I did a bit of skydiving "in my day" and know the military guys will not jump with ceilings as low as they were Saturday. I was still hoping they would jump from a helicopter and use a static line or what's call;ed a "hop and pop" and make the jump. But, better and cooler heads prevailed I guess. I know that 2200 feet was the lowest I could legally jump from pulling my own rip cord. I think the military jumps lower on static line, but not the Black Knights...they certainly do not use a static line. Too bad as its a great show.
  5. Riley is a red shirt freshman...remember that. His arm strength is such that he really will have a hard time throwing a really deep ball...30 yards should be about his most accurate max., but that's deep enough in the scheme he will be playing. The kid is a competitor. To question his character and his competitiveness is just plain WRONG. I seem to recall seeing several players get hurt Saturday...are they just too fragile to play DI ball? Come on, give it a rest. Let's evaluate Riley on his body of work. Cut down on the turnovers...stop carrying the ball like it was a loaf of bread and stop the "rainbow" deep passes that allow defenders to catch up and make plays and picks...use your tight end more and use the slant...Riley will be just fine and I'll be really glad to see what postings are written here on GMG.com when Riley leads this team to multiple victories beginning next season. Did you see some of the mistakes Stafford made yesterday in the win over Cleveland...Rookie is as rookie does. Riley is a DI Rookie! I'll wait to make judgement. You go ahead and rush to judgement.
  6. drex, you are so right...Amen to that! GO MEAN GREEN!!!!
  7. Yea, that sort of stuff never happens to an experienced coach...oh, wait, it's happened in the NFL more than once this season and in the Big XII, SEC and PAC 10....no, I didn't like it when it happened...who would, but to say it's because TD can't coach or is a bad coach is just not correct.
  8. It's not nice to call father earth old!!!! I am not so old as to remember why I so love being on a college campus on football game day! Wow...be still my heart!
  9. Game was really bad...Cowboys were not the better team today, but they did get the win. Glad to see the win, but, man, the offense looks really bad the last couple of games. What's up with the Dallas O????
  10. I wanted to take a second to thank everyone who saw their way clear to help the Denton Chapter of the UNT Alumni Assoc. in their effort to raise scholarship dollars through the sale of Tank Army T-Shits. AS few fact in the way of re-cap: We ere able, with your help, to sell all but 12 of the shirts we ordered. We gave the remaining 12 to the UNT cheerleaders to throw into the stands during the game...heck, what would we do with 12 shirts AFTER the game? Thought it was a fun thing to do; A BIG SHOUT OUT to Silver Eagle who came by and gave us a nice donation thinking we were out of the size of shirt he needed. Now that's being generous and doing something to help UNT students out of pure generosity. We did happen to have a shirt his size after all, but he still donated way more than the price of one shirt. SilverEagle...you don't know how much your generous effort meant to those of us in the Denton Chapter, but also to me personally. I really was touched by your support. Thanks so much. The scholarship fund now has additional monies to distribute because of everyone who bought a shirt. Thanks to all...and thanks to the members of the Denton Chapter who gave of their time and $$$ to make this effort a success. That, my friends, is just some of the many reasons I will never ever turn my back on this university and its programs...the generous spirit of the MEAN GREEN NATION itself. Also, a special thanks to drex for his great design.... Also..just FYI...the Army Artillery unit set up in the Mean Green Village liked our shirt design so much that they gave me an Army artillery unit football jersey...the folks down at the Army tailgate area thought they were great too as my bride and I walked around their area and said "thanks" for coming and Thanks for their service before the game. Man, what a great day.....
  11. Stay...I cannot see making a change at this point. The guy has a contract that also comes into play...next year will tell the tale on the TD coaching pick.
  12. I am truly brokenhearted after seeing the team lose another lead late and end up losing a game they should have won. Man, this one was tough to take. But, I am still behind the team and think we have all seen marked improvement in the team this year. No, not in the win column where, after all is said and done is where it really counts, but in the team's ability to compete against the teams on its schedule. I am good with another year for Coach Dodge and think that "next year" (man, I am tired of having to use those two words), will be the "turn" for the positive for this team and program. Tough tough loss...BUT, on a positive note, what a great day to be at Fouts for the game. My bride and I had a great time with many of the Army cadets and fans, had some great tailgate food...sold a bunch of Tank Army T-shirts...thanks to all who found their way clear to support our scholarship effort....and watch a pretty good game....and was totally spent and sad on the way home...not for my bride and me but for the team, its coaches and the parents of the players. They put their heart and soul into it and it has to be the very toughest on them. I so wanted to send our seniors out with a win! See you next saeson...the LAST at Fouts. How great is it to be able to say that! SUPER GREAT! Go Mean Green.
  13. Oh, ye of little faith...you non-believer you....open your eyes and ye shall see....why lie when the truth is often so uninteresting?????
  14. You are singing my song EagleMBA...my bride and I will be there...it will be a great day to be part of the MEan Green Nation. BEAT ARMY!!!! GO MEAN GREEN!
  15. We have term limits. However, we call them elections...they happen every two, four or six years depending.......
  16. GreenN'walinsVet...GREAT IDEA...we can do this...check you PM's...I just left you a message with my office phone number. We can make this happen...I'll be around the office until about 4PM today...office is in Lewisville. GO MEAN GREEN!
  17. yes, I did...why would you doubt me? have I ever lied to you?
  18. Just another example of your Alumni Association "doing things" to help folks connect with "their" university. Great to see this happening along with all the other happy hours, mixers, tailgate events, ring ceremony, etc., etc. Our Alumni Association is doing things that help promote the university...nice to see. keep it going...If you are not a member of the Alumni Association...think about joining...the cost is extremely low...if you are a member...think about getting more involved and "connected" with your Alumni Aoociation. Good folks are in place and they are great to work with as well.
  19. Brain freeze...I cannot remember what I predicted in an earlier thread, except that ut was a MEAN GREEN WIN...of course. But, I'll make a new prediction and say the Mean Green get the win ovwer Army! GO MEAN GREEN...BEAT ARMY: UNT: 38 Army: 33
  20. Will do...many thanks...always nice to have someone "in the know"...appreciate the help. GO MEAN GREEN!
  21. Thought you were going to Stillwater? Change of plans perhaps????
  22. I am so very proud of you for "broadening your horizons" and embracing the beautiful game. So...you are assuming here that the Greek team will be out after the initial stage? Gee, you sound like a Mean Green fan...no faith in your "home boys". BTW...I may be heading to Greece next September with my bride on one her her "conferences". Know any good places to eat/stay in Athens? Looks like we may also have to head to Crete for part of the conference...any suggestions??? GO MEAN GREEN...BEAT ARMY and...USA-----USA-----USA-----USA!!!! Gotta get out of that first round this time...I do think the USA team will be better prepared and ready to move out of the first round this time. Maybe the USA can get a decent draw this time and be in there with Greece,...how would that be, my Greek friend??? Way cool, huh?
  23. Agrre with you...but, it's still pretty much a "crap shoot" it seems even with "experienced" coaches.
  24. I agree that all this discussion about our head coach is very interesting. However, it does seem to me that there are many factors, some beyond the realm of the head coach and his staff and their "experience" at the college level that come into play. I give you Mike Sherman at Texas A&M as an example. here's a guy with college and NFL experience that seems to be having a bit of a "Challenge" getting Texas A & M turned around. Like UT, I see absolutely NO reason why TX A&M (like the Aggies or not) should not have a very good team each and every year. The student body and alumni support are always great (win, lose or draw...which is something the UNT fan base should look at as the way to really support a program), A&M has great traditions, has had some great coaches including Bear Bryant, facilities are excellent, etc., etc. So, could it be that the level of college and/or NFL experience may or may not be as critical a factor as one might think? Important? Very...but does it relate and transfer directly to success at the college head coach level???? Just wondering... GO MEAN GREEN!
