Good news...if true, I'm glad the wait is over and UNT and get on with preparing for a better 2010 in the win/loss column. Anyone who wants is free to leave, but I would ask that you re-think your position after a few days to cool off and consider things a bit more. UNT needs the Mean Green Nation now as much as ever before. I want to stay and enjoy the ride to a better 2010. Let's hope that TD finds the assistants he needs, and allows them full control over their areas, and that he becomes the CEO for the team. I have always felt that quality assistants make for a great head coach. However, one must allow their assistants to "do their thing"...unless, of course, a big-picture CEO type decision must be made. I always wanted to hire people much brighter and much better than I was...always made me look so much better. If they wanted my job and had the talent, I wanted them on my team. You hire good people and you let them do their job with as little interference as possible. I believe that would work with a football team as well.... Welcome TD to year #4...I'm there and will be in full support. GO MEAN GREEN!!!!!

Colorado is not doing much better and guess what????

OK, I know many of you will yawn and disregard this topic...OK...no problem, but are others out there in cyberspace as disappointed as I am that Obama will use the back drop of West Point to make his troop/Afghan speech this evening on national TV? John Cary's committee report has come out just in time to give Obama "cover" for his actions and a reason to blame the Bush Administration for him having to make this decision at all...and to waste money and time going to West Point and face those wonderful young men and women who will soon be risking their lives in defence of their nation is a bit much for me. The speech should be presented from the White House and not any military academy. OK, that's all....

Nope, just trying to take a rational approach to all the "chatter" here on GMG.com. It's a very tough decision and not as "cut and dried" as some on the board would make it out to be. RV is in one of those "danged if you do and danged if you don't positions". Fire TD and you make some folks happy, keep him and you make others happy, but either way you go you will get a storm of folks responding. I have made my support for both RV and TD fairly clear here on GMG.com and in public, so I stay with that position. I see no reason to join the dark side...even though that Darth Vader outfit is pretty cool! GO MEAN GREEN!

Really, how about Florida State? Can't that guy make a decision???? Really, Harry, I do understand your frustration with this situation and I definitely share your "pain" with the "hanging decision", but what bad taste???? I know you have been around college football for more than a few years, and I have been around probably longer than you have (only because I have a year or two on you), and this is certainly not the first program to have taken some time to make a decision regarding their head coach. While I sigh at some of the moves UNT makes these days (mainly on the administrative side), I really do not think UNT is alone in taking a few days to make this important decision...or in at least announcing it. Who is to say that RV hasn't already made the decision and related it to TD that he will have another year? They did meet yesterday, right? I doubt the "taste" of this will linger long in the hearts and minds of the Mean Green faithful.

The AD's job is much bigger and much more involved than just the football team's won/loss record. I realize that is hard for many to understand, but it is...that being said, football is the "bell cow" sport and an AD is often judged by the school's success in football. RV has had to live with his decision to hire TD, and the jury is still out (in my opinion) on whether TD can turn the program into a winning one given the resources he has to work with in the current "environment". I think TD should get one more year to turn the program, and I think RV can then be judged on the football program's success or failure in moving in a positive direction. However, I, for one, do not want my AD evaluated solely on one program's performance with regard to w/l's on the field. So, to me RV has been and hopefully will continue to be one of the best AD's UNT has had for several years to come...and he will give TD one more opportunity to show that the football team can turn the corner. I do not envy RV at this time and I wish him all the best in the world as he ponders this very important question. GO MEAN GREEN!

Willie Nelson and some of his friends (young and old)...that would be a great show! -
Sort of sounds like Todd Dodge to me.....Imagine that?

Let's Hire Boise State's Offensive Coordinator
KRAM1 replied to The Fake Lonnie Finch's topic in Mean Green Football
Let's quit talking about a new head coach. We have a head coach, and I believe TD will be UNT's head coach next season. Until, and if, the time comes when UNT has another head coach, it's time to stop the speculation and get behind the one we have. This speculation and "stuff" is really not doing anyone much good...except of course the folks who just want to speculate! Ha! -
Happy Thanksgiving to all...the Mean Green Nation...saw GreenJoe this morning at a neighborhood 5K Turkey Waddle....of course, he was riding a bicycle...SMART! Happy Thanksgiving to all...We do have so very much to be thankful for...including that upcoming win over Ark State Saturday (hey, this is the football section of the broad!). GO MEAN GREEN!

This is very interesting...doesn't seem right does it? Amazing what goes on sometimes.

OK, a couple of things...why would the crowd get into it when the team was playing such a sloppy game? Just asking. I was there with the bride and was pretty darn frustrated by the sloppy play by UNT. Never could get into the game...Also...crowd was not good. A school the size of UNT with the record the team has had over the last few years should have plenty more than a bit over 2100 rears in the seats. To claim that there was a decent student turnout, or alum, etc. turnout is just not correct. UNT should put 5000+ students in the gym every home game and the alums, etc. should be close to that...I know, I know, that's about 10,000 for each home game...quite a stretch when folks seem to think 2100+ is a good crowd. This team and these players have earned better support than they are getting... Now, that being said...man, are they a sloppy bunch at times. And, what in the world has happened to Josh over the last couple of games? man, for a "point guard (debatable, I know), he is turning the ball over way too often and his shot has just disappeared....not to mention his forcing of shots that simply are not there...a guy 5'10" may need to rethink trying to drive the lane when there are open players to pass to who can shoot. Just saying....and just wondering. I thought JJ should have inserted Dom in and kept him in...but, Josh is a super player, and I do expect him to rebound and have some great games for us....just wondering if he really should be the "point"? George O has been my favorite player for a couple of years...why? Well, at first because I love to yell out his last name...pretty cool and sounds great after a good play...secondly, he is one great re-bounder and I love the effort he gives...some of his shots are not so "wonderful", but he is scoring in double digits and rebounding like a madman....I want to see if he got a double/double last night. Anyone see the box score as yet? Now, some of you guys who are into BB way more than I am, tell me what ails Josh and this team? Why the sloppy play that seems to inject itself once or twice in every game? I am thinking that might get them beat a time or two or three or four as the season goes along...ideas? Thoughts, you basketball gurus out there.... And, come on...come to the games when ever you can...team is winning...the "football Dodge haters" say that attendance would be great if only we were winning and that winning cures all attendance problems...well, seems it doesn't do much for basketball. Gee, I wonder if it is something else rather than simply the wins and losses? 2100+ is not a good crowd...this team is winning...where is the support???? Come on folks....

Yes...Five times over the last few years! Take that! Las Vegas loves me...

I agree, Mr. Mosley...I agree. UNT should keep Coach Dodge here for next season. I do think the team has made it to the "corner" and will make the turn. I see a win over Ark State to end the season...GO MEAN GREEN!

I'm really tired of all the negative "stuff" on the board, so, I'll start it off for this week..UNT vs. Ark. State. What do you say? Me, I'm still hanging in there believing in the Mean Green's ability to actually hold on and close one out...SO, it's: UNT 32 Ark. State 28 UNT wins it late with a Lance Dunbar run and a FG (who knows who might be kicking, so I'll just say a FG).... Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving...Sunday will look so bright to all after a Mean Green win to close out a very frustrating season for the Mean Green faithful...progress made for sure, but......

I have not heard any coaches or players making any excuses this year. Please do tell us all what you mean when you say "excuses". Facts, man...just the facts, please! I've heard a few fans providing their opinions and some parents with a few things to say, but I have not hear or read any excuses from Coaches or players...where is that line of thought coming from. Just asking, not challenging...just asking because, like SUMG, I have been around for awhile and just haven't seen it....

A very nice lady who works as RV's (and I assume TD's) Admin. Ass't. She has always been very kind to me when I have called asking to speak with RV or anyone else in the dept. Be nice to her!!!! In fact, if you email RV or TD, be professional and send an email you would not mind your mother seeing or anyone on Facebook, etc. Not saying your email will end up anywhere you do not want it to go, just cautioning folks to be professional and leave out the "emotional" stuff and any "stuff" you feel you must unload. Think FIRST...Think SECOND...Think THIRD, then compose your email if you must. GO MEAN GREEN....

Nice job T J ! Looks like a good class so far...will the team be signing any others?

Our Fans Could Be Worse
KRAM1 replied to NT03's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Agreed...but, by and large I believe the Mean Green fans to be very good fans and respectful of the visiting team and its fans. Sure, stuff happens, but overall I think Mean Green fans are a pretty good bunch come game day. -
And, isn't it interesting how this goes...let's just mke sure folks with different views on the global warming issue are cut off and out from all consideration. Yep, that's the professional thing to do, right? It seems to me that the libs are all just fine as long as you agree with them, but let there be a bit of honest difference and debat on an issue near and dear to their hearts and the name calling stats along with concerted efforts to stop the dissent from even getting a hearing...nice...real nice...

Last year it was under the seating area...entering down the steps at the end of the gym near the US flag...I believe you turned right as you went into the hallway...anyway, there are usually signs up. The price has been raised to $8 this year from $5 just like the football games...still a decent deal.
