Alumni Association putting on Family's night for Alumni
KRAM1 replied to GMG24's topic in Mean Green Football
Well, if so, it will be 50 people who want to be there. This is sort of like the old "Kickoff Cookouts" we used to have, but with more family friendly set ups. Definitely could be a tad warm, but it is Texas, it is summer... -
Things are firming up nicely for the event, but as always, we are in need of players/teams for the tournament. If you would like to have some fun, enjoy being with a bunch of great people all the while helping a UNT Alum reach her Olympic dreams come true, come out Saturday...Aug 5th at 11:00 am at East Side on Oak Street in Denton!

Congrats and Hail to the Chief! One question...either your new City or you do not know how to spell your name...which? 😂😂. Who proof reads these releases anyway? 😂😂😂😂 Now, Can't wait for the day you come to Denton or UNT! 👍👍

Alumni Association putting on Family's night for Alumni

Well, thanks. So glad you posted this, BUT one slight correction...the UNT ALUMNI ASSOCIATION is hosting and has created this event...not the AD. This is the Denton County Alumni Association's Chapter summer event. Just like the RoughRider's Game was the Frisco Chapter's event, the Ft. Worth Zoo is the Tarrant County Chapter's event and the Frontier's of Flight Museum this Saturday is the Dallas County Chapter's summer event. While all Alumni members are welcomed at all of these events, they are sponsored by the various chapters and hosted by them AND the UNT Alumni Association. Make no mistake, the Athletic Department has stepped up and is being a great partner to the Denton Chapter in hosting this event, but it is an Alumni Association event...not the AD's event. These summer Alumni events have been organized and planned as family events so our families can bring their kids out and enjoy a fun evening with fellow alums. Everyone is welcome to these events...singles, families, seniors, couples, etc. So, register and come enjoy the fun evening. Lots to do...lot's of fun to be had. Unfortunately for me, I will be out of state for this one. Boo! But, if you are attending the Frontiers of Flight event tomorrow (Saturday, July 29th, I'll see you there! -
Excellent idea. The White Package gets you Army and UTSA. Nice. I really like the effort the Athletic Department is making in trying different things to help reach more people, families, etc. Thing is, why not try these different avenues? No harm, no foul, right? If something works...great...keep it. If it doesn't, evaluate how to make it better or drop it and try something else. We can all nit pick and complain about the details of things being tried, but the fact remains...things are being tried! It is great to see this effort and creativity. Here's hoping that some or all of these efforts hit the sweet spot and get some positive results.

Thank you John Williams for your continuing support of UNT, UNT Athletics and the City of Denton as a whole. We truly need more local supporters such as yourself and all the partners involved in East Side, Oak Street, Dot's, etc. You guys absolutely are the best!

DRC: UNT athletic department undergoing quiet summer makeover
KRAM1 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
As has already been pointed out "sport", that was a shot right over your bow. Nothing, nada, nil, zero passive aggressive at all. You need to bone up on your basic psychology. Maybe they have a class at TCU. And, you have posted about your career in discussions on this very board and you have, on several occasions on here, proclaimed your new found love for TCU. So, "Sport" nothing new or personal that you ,yourself, have not previously discussed openly on this board. when you throw out some baseless claim in an attempt to disparage your own Alma Mater, you might want to prepare for some blowback. Kinda how it works around these parts...especially for fans of other programs who come on this site to troll. -
No way to get there by 7pm for at least the last hour?

You mean like at TCU and Tarrant County? Those "terribly ineffective" organizations? 😂😂😂 Happens everywhere...you know it...stop trying to always be "that guy" and come enjoy some Mean Green football. It is your university after all.- 55 replies

DRC: UNT athletic department undergoing quiet summer makeover
KRAM1 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Show me an industry or public or private...that does not do this very thing. Just happened with Lucky Whitehead in the NFL. Examples are made out of the role players. But, this happens in the financial services industry, public schools, city governments, airlines, major consumer companies, state governments and within the federal government consistently. Nothing new here at all. Not saying it is good or bad...just saying it happens all the time across the board and I would guess you know this already. Still doesn't make it any easier on those involved. -

Well...in this case...the AD's budget was sent forward and returned...with the stipulation to cut. Or, so the person let go I was chatting with said...and he was part of that very budget process. It is what Wren Baker and Jared Mosley told him about his situation when he was told. Now, how the actual people were selected, I have no clue, and it would only be speculation on any of our parts. He also said two others were let go as well. I hate to see anyone lose their job...especially long serving employees...with families, etc., etc. But, know it is part of the employment world. It absolutely can happen to anyone...anyone who is working for "someone else" rather than themselves. And, if you are self-employed, your clients can "lay you off" at any moment. Doesn't make it easier to accept that you were laid off for budgetary reasons rather than being fired for poor performance or some other "breech of contract", but it is a better situation regarding future employment. -
We are now TWELVE (12) days out from the event. We are still looking for a few teams to sign up to play...we would like a minimum of 16 teams. The cost is $40.00 per team. I you would like to play and sign up as a single...we will place you on a team, but we need to know if you will be playing as the brackets need to be prepared prior to "game day" if at all possible. So...those playing... and those who would like to play...please let us know. Start time is We have some great prizes including a $100 Rally House Gift Certificate and a $50 bar tab at Eastside for our 1st place team. There are prizes for 2nd and 3rd place as well, drawings for additional gift cards (for those registering to play), a 50/50 cash drawing and a raffle ($10 per ticket) for a chance to win two (2) sideline seat season tickets to the 2017 UNT football home season at Apogee. Let us also not forget the great beer and drink options at East Side to help keep you cool and what may well be a fairly "warm" Saturday. Can the GoMeanGreen.com bunch get behind this Alum, former track athlete, former Cheer Team member? I think so. Hope to see a bunch of you there. If you cannot attend in person, but would like to help...our GoFunMe page address is: https://www.gopfundme.com/kellies-u-s-olympic-qualifying (I say it all the timer...because it is true...any ANY amount helps...even $5 or $10 or whatever you can donate. So, please help and let's together get behind this Mean Green Alum and help her make the team).

I agree with you. But, in this case, as I was told by a staffer who was let go last Thursday, these cuts are budgetary in nature and a result of the University pushing back on the AD's proposed budget. This is budget planning time, and cuts are coming across the University due to cuts in Austin from this year's legislature. Not as big of cuts as could be, but cuts none the same. So, the timing of these cuts are the result of University mandated budget cuts. Or so I was told by a person affected. -
Good luck to him.

Sounds like we have a Head Coach that doesn't always utilize "Coach speak". Good for him. Setting expectations as he actualky sees them. Nice! 👍

DRC: UNT parts ways with cross country coach
KRAM1 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Athletics
Did not realize that. Did know Kee had a longer contract as does Hedlund. Did not know Sheffield regularly had a one year contract. Thanks. You know the length of Coach Lama's contract in tennis? -
And...some of us do not object on either grounds. IT IS A FOOTBALL GAME PEOPLE. Stop trying to make it out to be more than it is in fact...a football game. Plus...why we still talking about this? It is a done deal. Game on...come or don't come. This is just another "unique" excuse that so-called UNT fans can come up with for not supporting THEIR team and Their University. Also, let me make this perfectly clear...I am in no way saying GTWT won't be coming to the game. He has not indicated one way or the other in his posts as far as I recall. And, he is welcome to his opinions on the matter. I just personally think this is a prime example of misplaced indignation over absolutely zero. But, then that is my opinion.

Class Ring - What to get?
KRAM1 replied to MrStrange18's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
You definitely can. I believe if you contact the Alumni Association, they can help you figure out the process. They might refer you to the Josten's representative. I know Josten's keeps molds for past year's rings just for this very purpose and if someone might lose their rind and wish a new one. Can definitely be done! -
DRC: UNT parts ways with cross country coach
KRAM1 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Athletics
One year contracts for both Coach Kee and Coach Sheffield. Can you spell hot seat? Interesting, as in past decades the Olympic Sport coaches were pretty much left alone. Guess this is another example of Wren Baker and Neil Smatresk meaning what they say...that our Athletic Dept. is going to get better from top to bottom in all sports UNT fields. For one, I hope both these coaches have great seasons and get to sign new and longer contracts at the end of their respective seasons. -
You guys in? Hope so. You can come as a single if need be and we can pair you up with a partner...so, please think about coming either way.
