YEP...why not the head of Peta (is that how one spells the name of that group?)??? Seems a much wiser choice to me if you want to call someone out. I would not have thought F&S would be "political" in this regard. Supporting gun and hunting rights, absolutely political in that vane, but to call out Rush L. who supports gun rights and hunters rights? One has to wonder...it must be the result of global warming or something Bush did.

You sure did...congratulations. Nathan is a great kid. UNT is lucky to have him.

It's hard to be positive around here...one has to put up with so many folks who just want to complain. Riley QB's the team to a win in the Ball State game and everyone thinks he's the guy, Riley QB's the team to a loss ans he's a bum to many on this site. I'll say it again...Riley is UNT's QB, Riley is an excellent QB for the Mean Green, Riley will continue to improve during his career...That is all... Except, of course, that is my opinion....you are more than welcome to your opinion. Time will tell who is correct, and when it does...so what? Carry on......

Terrible effort by the men yesterday. It was painful to watch, but stayed through OT. UNT got it's rear handed to it in OT (and through out the game) by a team UNT should have beaten by 20. Turnovers, sloppy, sloppy, sloppy passes, no rebounding, no inside play at all and couldn't hit squat from the free throw line. Other than that, UNT played well enough to win! Man, I was really surprised by the "out of sync" feel to the game from start to finish. OK, it's over...on to victory Tuesday. I think someone stole the whole team and coaching staff and let Avatars play instead that were programmed to play like zombies!
-
Hey, congrats to the Blue Raiders. It's nice for the SBC as well to have won the game. Can UNT beat the Blue raiders next season? Of course, that's why they play the game..ask Tony Dungy about making predictions that one team or another has "no chance" for victory. Again, congrats to the Blue Raiders...looked grim when they were down 14-0, but really out played So. Miss the rest of the way...nicely done. I hope the Blue Raiders enjoyed NO and I hope the team will eat way too much great Cajun food so they will be fat and slow when UNT plays them next season.

Nice...did you even bother to read my post to ArkansasEagle? If so, just where did I berate him??? I believe I gave him information and offered to help him in his pursuit, and offered my assistance. Neither you, nor SilverEagle nor I were involved in the original conversations, so we really do not know what was asked or offered. That's why, I offered to talk with him and see what we could do to get things going. If you define an "expert" as one who is actively involved in trying to help UNT, the UNT Alumni Association and the Athletic dept. through both donations and the volunteering of time and support, then, OK, I'll accept that...if you are just trying to be cute, well then...buzz off! You may not be aware of it, but there is often more to the situation than one has time to post on GMG.com...again, that's why I offered to talk with Arkansas Eagle and share my experiences with him in working with the Alumni association. How in the world could that have set you off in such a manner that you felt compelled to hammer on me? Amazing stuff. -

What do you mean that you couldn't have a chapter in Arkansas? Define what your idea of a chapter is and how you wanted to organize it, please and thank you. There is no reason that you cannot start an alumni group in Arkansas. What is keeping you from doing that? Perhaps you wanted one with a board and by-laws and elected officials and all that. Well, I am aware that the alumni association is moving away from that model, but they will most definitely help you establish a "chapter" in Arkansas...it depends upon what form you want the chapter to take. The Denton Chapter is one of the "last" in the old model...with elected officers and the such. If you would like to get an Arkansas chapter going...contact Rob McKinney at the Alumni Assoc. and discuss how you can do that....again, I guess it depends upon what you define as a chapter and how you want it organized. Sorry you have had some troubles here...if you want to talk more...PM me here and give me some contact info and we can discuss in more detail together one on one...I have been...and still are...very active in the Danton Chapter and work very closely with both Rob and derrick...so, "Let's Talk"....PLEASE...no reason to just go away...sometimes we all have to modify and compromise, bit I can assure you the Alumni Association is very willing to help get things going with alums in Arkansas. I appreciate your interest and enthusiasm for UNT...give me a PM and let's see if we can't discuss this a bit more. I have found Derrick, Rob and all the Alumni staff to be very open to developing new areas and working with active alums where ever they might be...but, they do have a model of how they want the association to operate...it can be very easy to work within that model and it does seem to be having positive results around the nation as membership and activities are both up. -

No, but it's probably because it's not very high on my "I care" radar. I feel sorry for the kids in this situation...what actually happened is really sad, but nothing I will follow all that closely. Cops still investigating I am sure and everyone who is really interested will definitely find out soon enough. I think we can all imagine what went on after he got in the back of that truck...I just think it's the cops doing their thing...it took awhile for everyone to know what Tiger was really up to also. -

Could be part of the reason, but the main reason is the hard work our Alumni Association and its staff are doing these days to get "out there" and provide events, services, etc. that UNT Alumni appreciate, and to its largely increased visibility within the UNT community. Derrick Morgan and his team are doing a great job for UNT and its alumni base. If you are not a member, you should give very serious consideration to joining! GO MEAN GREEN! GO ALUMNI!!! -
Travis...you may be right...I thought Kim B. was a walk-on......could Brett have been mistaken????? Be still my heart.... Ha!

I am 100% with SUMG here...Hooter's is fine...and I see no reason for this teacher getting in so much hot water. My wife loves Hooter's and I like it as well. I do not find the food overpriced nor do I find the food anything but tasty, and the beer is cold. What's not to like? When Hooter's first came on the scene the waitresses "played up" the "Hooter's" theme and were instructed to act certain ways with male clients. That is long past. If you have taken the time to visit a Hooter's recently you will find some nice young waitresses trying to make a living and working in a tough job. I find that people who rag on Hooter's due to the waitresses attire or the name have rarely if ever eaten at one of the restaurants and just want to vent....as far as the dress of the waitresses, you can see much more walking across the UNT campus on any sunny spring or summer day, and at any beach, swimming pool and at most Christmas or holiday parties. Now, was the teacher really smart...probably not judging from the mess she is getting herself into. If I had a kid in that choir I would have seen it as a fun way to show what the choir could do in a "different" environment than the normal stage production. I would have also enjoyed a cold beer and some wings while I enjoyed the choir. Here, it seems they only ate at the Hooter's. Some people just need to get a life. And, by the way...we sold two Tank Army T-shirts to a couple of Hooter's girls the day of the Army game. Both are UNT students. How many other folks just walked by and and ignored our efforts to raise scholarship dollars? One of the young ladies said she had a partial scholarship at UNT and was happy to help others get the same help. I doubt she will be recruited as a stripper and end up in the porn industry. By the way, the article didn't say anything about the choir performing at Hooter's...I was sort of adding that point to the mix as I think it would be fun for the choir...remember, UNT had the Coach Dodge show at the local Denton Hooter's until the PC police got involved! Ha!

Yes, there certainly is...keep posted.

UNT has an excellent deep snapper in Troy Kokjohn. Troy should enter the 2010 season as UNT's #1 deep snapper. He's excellent at it, has proven his ability in games this season and last. He's a walk-on who has worked his rear off...as do all walk-ons...to try to help the team and earn a scholarship. Troy also deserves to be placed on scholarship...in my opinion that is... Welcome to young Mr. Dunham. Any idea who else may have offered him scholarships? I have not seen any mention of other offers. I'm thinking the kid was pretty much a "lock" to commit to UNT given George's long-time never ending support of UNT. Should make for some "interesting" broadcasting.....

Hmmmmmmm...last time my bride and I went into Lafitte's there were only men there enjoying the company of other men...Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...is that still the case?

ND reports they have no interest in joining the Big 10....well, what they say is that they are committed to staying independent. I guess we will all see soon enough. UNT would look mighty nice in C-USA. Could build some actual rivalry games and it would do a great deal to raise attendance, season ticket sales, stadium revenue and donations, etc., etc. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all the MEAN GREEN NATION.

I can't recall now...what was Lance's rating while being recruited and how many other schools "offered" Lance a scholarship? Can anyone recall the info? Here UNT has found a gem in lance Dunbar and SI has selected him as an honorable mention on the All-American team this year. How many "stars" did Lance have while being recruited and how was he rated in the State Top 100 ranking list and who else offered scholarships? I'd be interested to know for sure... WAY TO GO LANCE...the next Patrick Cobbs for UNT perhaps? Great start to what appears to be a great career at UNT. GO MEAN GREEN!!!!

How sad. I really feel bad for the kids. This sort of thing is way to common and needs to stop! Controlling one's emotions is very difficult, and once again, tragedy strikes as a result. So very sad. -
Well, one program can and does recruit local talent...Women's Soccer under Coach John Hedlund. Kelsey Hodges, current Guyer HS senior and standout soccer player has committed to play at UNT. Seems she has always wanted to play for UNT. Kelsey plays for Sting '92, a very good Dallas based Club team, and should be a great addition to the UNT squad. I am really excited to see a local athlete excited about wanting to play for a UNT team. A quote from Brett Vito was "spot on" as well regarding the UNT soccer program...he said, Hodges...will be the first scholarship player from a Denton school to play for arguably the most accomplished athletic program at UNT". Well said, and congrats to Kelsey and her family. I look forward to watching her play for the Mean green! Go Kelsey...Go Coach Hedlund...GO Soccer...GO MEAN GREEN! Good things are continuing to happen for the Soccer program at UNT!!!!

Info On The 5 Loi Mid Term Players Who Signed Loi
KRAM1 replied to OldTimer's topic in Mean Green Football
Looks to be a good group signing to me. Should provide some immediate help in an obvious area of need (defensive backs). The "D" will be stronger due to these signings. Isn't it amazing that UNT is actually out recruiting and signing players (sarcasm noted) even when some folks think they are sitting on their hands? Like I said, I like to wait on the actual signings before I get too carried away one way OR the other over what the rumor mill says UNT is doing. And, I agree...signing with UNT after a good JuCo career is one thing, performing on Saturday is yet another. I am most hopeful for this group to be the "real thing", but we will all have to wait and see once the "talking turns to walking". Nice job TD and staff...now...go get some more! GO MEAN GREEN!!!! -
Riley is UNT's QB. Riley is an excellent QB for the Mean Green. Riley will continue to improve during his career at UNT. That is all......

Visit the Acme Oyster Bar...great place. Lots of great places to enjoy a cold one or two or three or four. After having a few make certain your wallet is firmly secured... Enjoy NO...it's a fun place for an evening or two...go have Beignets at Cafe DuMonde the next morning...fun and "traditional New Orleans"...got to go at least once. Most of all...stay out of the New Orleans jails...not nice and don't throw an attitude at any of the New Orleans cops in the French Quarter. They have seen it all and heard it all before...you will not win that battle. Play nice and you'll have a great time!

Voted! Go Holly...looks like she needs a bunch of help to catch up...you can vote up to 20 times a day (I believe that's what the site said), so come on folks...let's get Holly into 1st place. GO MEAN GREEN...GO HOLLY!!!!!

We'll see....congrats to Eric! Go get 'em. Let's get them on our schedule! Might be fun....
