  1. Tough loss...I personally appreciate the "man up" a few did here in admitting to being overly negative in other threads. It's tough to see UNT lose like this. I do not understand why the women can get beat like this (or the men for that matter should it happen). The women have some very good players and I would think they would find a way to step it up a bit. I'll give Coach Stephens time to turn it around. Man, this was tough! But, you have to believe the team and coaching staff find it even more puzzling that we, as fans, do. Hang in there ladies...let's get the ship a little trimmed out during the rest of the season. I'll bet you can.... GO MEAN GREEN!
  2. Made it interesting, and I was proud of the way the team battled back to make it a game near the end. Foul trouble hurt, I think, at the end. Anyway, tough loss, but i do think the team is building momentum toward the tournament. Go Mean Green!
  3. YES
  4. Always good to see you are available to "monitor" and comment on my posts. It's about the only time you do not post something negative about Coach Dodge or the UNT football program. I'll take it as a public service to the rest of the posters on GMG.com who don't have to read the same stuff over and over.
  5. Even in the face of excellent news there are those who simply refuse to be positive. Amazing.
  6. Yep, that sort of thing has always made me happy in or out of football season! Glad to see there is something that makes you happy as well. I had my doubts!
  7. If the Obama Administration is involved it means that whatever happens will be pointless and a master screw-up. Heck, the guy even screwed up the latest Supreme Court ruling in the SOU address...obviously no one in his justice dept or administration bothered to even read the ruling before jumping off the deep end with stupid statements...much like the way Obama blasted the Cambridge Cop without knowing any of the real facts. I would like to see the BCS "re-done" as much as anyone, but getting the Obama Administration involved is like asking "pee wee Herman" to cure cancer! Don't get excited about any real "change" with these clowns involved.
  8. You just cannot imagine how I am smiling today after reading all these "positive posts". I have to laugh because it is amazing to me that some actually thought RV and TD were just sitting around doing nothing and waiting for all the "good hires" to go to other programs. I do hope this restores the faith for some and will allow them to believe a little in the possibilities for this team and coaching staff. I know that if things turn out well in 2010 that TD will still not get credit from many of our posters, but I am certain that will not make TD lose any sleep. It is a great day for the Mean Green! I do think TD has realized it is time for him to be the CEO of the program and not a coordinator. That bodes very well for some real positive changes for 2010. OK, so I trust we can all agree now that "good things are happening for UNT football"! GO MEAN GREEN!
  9. Looks like some new members of the "happy camper" squad are coming forward to join the "good things are happening" at UNT and "I believe" group. Welcome. This is the type of "good news" that can create a good bit of positive vibes regarding UNT's chances for improvement...maybe sell a few more season tickets, get a few more folks to join the Mean Green Club and just to "believe" in the Mean Green. Oh, happy days......be still my heart! GO MEAN GREEN!
  10. Great news! I think Coach Dodge is, in fact, becoming that CEO head football coach that will look to allow his OC and DC to "do their thing" while being accountable to him as the HC. Great news indeed, and a sign of good things happening for the Mean green. Can't wait! GO MEAN GREEN!
  11. Lonnie....sounds to me like you guys would be much better off without that employee. Small firms cannot afford employees who push the envelope they way this one has. Not that big companies are not hurt, it's just that there are more folks to "cover". I think you might be better off if the employee resigns and then you can perhaps hire a new staffer at the lower salary who would be a good team player for your firm. I would look at this a s a good opportunity to shed my firm of an employee who just doesn't see the bigger picture at the firm and who is not at all concerned about the well being of the firm or their fellow employees. Man, sometimes you get lucky. In my current role we had the same thing happen, and the employee decided to leave voluntarily. We have been so much better off and so much more productive since that employee left. We are also quite small...6 full-time. We cannot afford to have a staff member counting the clock, abusing sick time, etc. It just kills production and places a much bigger burden on everyone else. You might want to thank your lucky stars after all....
  12. Harry...double post perhaps? Doesn't matter...this great news needs multiple threads! Go Mean Green! Great hire by Coach Dodge and Co. Thanks RV for helping to make this happen! GO MEAN GREEN!
  13. Sounds official to me! Welcome Coach Canales! And...GO MEAN GREEN! Good things are happening for UNT football these days!!!!!
  14. GREAT WIN last evening. I understand it was a real "knock down drag out". Sorry I couldn't watch or listen. But, the "back and forth bickering" on the board this morning after a BIG win for the Mean Green at WKY is pretty interesting. Sort of like the bickering between Kay Bailey and Rick Perry at the UNT debate recently. Kids, kids...it was a big win, a tough road win...enjoy it! GO MEAN GREEN!
  15. Amazing how a guy who actually published so very few works could have become so very famous. Shows you want one great book can do for you. I think Quoner is working on a "great American Novel" of his own!
  16. We are a country at WAR! Until we start acting like it, and stop giving these terrorists rights of US citizens we will keep struggling to gain the upper hand. The idea that these guys have Miranda rights is simply wrong! They are not citizens, they do not deserve Miranda rights of citizens...they deserve to be treated under the provisions of the Geneva Convention (perhaps...that might be for another debate), but to be tried in civil court at the cost of over $1billion and to do it in NYC is simply wrong. If you want to bring these guys to the US, bring them to a military base and try them in a military court! That's one heck of a lot better than the treatment the coalition forces receive and many civilians that have fallen into these terrorists hands. Yes, we are a country of laws...that's why we should apply the laws correctly in this case and not have some public "show trial" that the current administration thinks might up their poll numbers! Good Grief!
  17. Why does anyone really care about James and the mess at TTech? It has no impact on UNT that I can see. Let them stew in their own juices. They brought the pot!
  18. EXACTLY! It's great to see all the experts let us know that this class is not ranked very high in their humble opinion, that is. I know they have some "qualifications" to make such statements, but recruiting HS kids is a crap-shoot. You get top recruits that can't qualify grade-wise, who get injured in fall practice, who end up hating the coach and transferring and/or who simply look good on paper as a college player but never pan out...you get the exact reverse as well ala Patrick Cobbs. You also get the "lesser" rated player who stays a "lesser rated" player in college, etc. Like I said it's a crap shoot. You do the very best you can as a coach/recruiter, find players you think can play in YOUR system, who might get bigger, faster and stronger and you go with that. We'll all see how this class pans out once they sign and hit the field. On paper, it is looking like a another good class for TD and Company. I also agree...can you imagine the class TD might be able to recruit next season after winning those min. seven games this season???? Wow, can't wait. Be still my Mean Green heart! GO MEAN GREEN.
  19. Once again, the nation sees that Obama can deliver a speech. Never mind the content and all the "playing to his fan base" without any real substance at all...the guy can deliver a speech. What he cannot deliver is results! That has been demonstrated quite clearly. His union bosses will not let him do what he seems to want to try to do now and that's move more to the middle as Clinton did when his presidency was in big trouble. Clinton actually was successful in reviving his presidency, Obama, well that remains to be seen and the jury is definitely out. Time to grow up and stop blaming everything on things "before you walked through the door". How weak is that? Man up and shut up and start doing something about it if you want to "change" things. You sound like a third grader! Being disrespectful to the Supreme Court judges was plain stupid and arrogant...and pretty low class. As far as the Republican response...I had the same opinion as others have expressed...weak at best but better than Jindal. Too much "talk" and rah rah and very little in the way of specifics. Another lost opportunity by the Republicans who seem to have absolutely no leadership at the moment. It is amazing how badly the democrats are doing in the face of absolutely NO strong leadership from the republicans. I can only imagine how badly the dems would be reeling right now if the Republicans had any measure of leadership. The 2010's should be great fun!
  20. Bummer...you might try Fox & Hounds in Lewisville. The denton Alum Chapter had a Mixer there last week in the Burgundy Room and it has a big screen and a couple of smaller screens. They may have the network and they were also VERY willing to reserve the room for us at no cost and were very nice to us during the event. In fact, we have decided to hold a few more Mixers at the place as a result. Give Fox and Hounds in Lewisville a call...might be a "go"...who knows? Well, you will if you call. Good luck! GO MEAN GREEN. Too bad about the Pourhouse...good folks!
  21. Give him a few hours and call him back! These guys get busy. If you have ever worked in food service at the "retail" level like The Poorhouse you know exactly what i mean. Offer to help bring some patrons for the evening and I'll bet things move right along if the game is actually telecast. You tell them you can bring 25 folks that would not have been there otherwise, and I'll bet you get it done! You can get 25 to a watch party, right? YES, YOU CAN! Go Mean Green...beat WKY!!!!!
  22. That's pretty good UNT03. I give you credit for that script. But, that has not been my experience with the Poorhouse. let me give you another script: PH: Hello Pourhouse Caller: Hello this is NT03 from GMG.com. I am interested in speaking to one of your managers about a group event i would like to hold at the Pourhouse. PH: Great, let me transfer you to our manager. MGR; Hello...what can i do for you. Caller: I am a UNT fan and GMG.com poster and I am wanting to set up a watch party for Mean Green fans at a local sports bar to watch this Thursday's UNT-WKY game. I know the Pourhouse supports UNT athletics and has a great area to watch games. I think it would make a great watch party site, and I know we can bring several folks to the Pourhouse for the watch party. Would you guys be willing to have the game on TV and perhaps let us use the room UNT uses for its Coach shows? MGR: Hey, great idea...how many people do you think might want to come? We could even arrange for some UNT Watch party drink specials. Caller. Man, great...I really appreciate your help and willingness to help make sure the game is shown. I'll get the word out...could you reserve the room for us and get it on the Poorhouse schedule. Man, this is great...I'll see you Thursday a little before game time to see what else needs to be done. MGR: Great, see you Thursday. We always love having the the Mean Green here with us at the Pourhouse. That is more in line with my experience when I have asked to use the media room for UNT Denton Chapter Alumni events at the Pourhouse. It's a two-way street and you have to get to the right person and offer a little effort to help get the turnout if you want to get it going. You might consider this type of approach. Seems to have worked rather well for me and the Denton Alumni Chapter.
  23. From a galaxy far far away...........
  24. No, you are not...sounds like a bunch of "space aliens" to me...I don't want "visitors", I want folks who are forever interested in helping UNT move forward. "Visitors" come and go by their very nature...I visit places on vacation...but I am forever a supporter of the Mean Green and UNT. "Visitors" come for homecoming and go home...yes, I found it to be a very "interesting" title to what seems to be a board made up of some fairly solid citizens and UNT supporters. In my opinion, Chancellor Jackson is a "visitor"...as he comes rarely to Denton and the main UNT campus and is happy to return to his palace office and cronies (see Royce West) in Dallas.
