  1. Hey, it's OK...do what you can when you can and what you want to do. Make it, don't make it...make it a priority and go or not...all A-OK. Everybody has commitments and everybody couldn't go even if it were on a Saturday...kids, other commitments, etc. Plus...there never is a perfect time or day for any event. Is what it is...do what you can and want to do.
  2. Great concept. And, not that much difference in pricing, so should not keep anyone away. Another step in the right direction (but, as some have mentioned, this might not be as new as we think).
  3. Cannot thank you two enough for supporting this event. Loved the "Frienemies" team name with the SMU/UNT shirts! Pretty cool. And...who knew you guys were such a great Bags Tournament Team! Thanks again...it was indeed much fun and WE made a good bit of change for a great Alum chasing an Olympic Dream! WELL WELL DONE GUYS!
  4. Wow! What a day we had! Lots of folks turned out, we filled all available spots for teams, and we had a great time. There are so many people that worked hard to bring this event off...not to mention John Williams and the East Side crew! So many UNT Alums turned out in support of one of their own, and, as a result WE were able to give Kellie $3100.00 at the end of the day. So many great people came out early and stayed most of the day playing, buying raffle tickets and 50/50 draw tickets. Our 50/50 Pot totaled some $470...$235 to the winner, and the winner donated it all back to Kellie. How great was that? But, what would you suspect from a UNT alum out helping one of his own? So incredible to watch UNT Alums help their own! Well well done folks! Cannot thank everyone enough! So much fun being around these people! Wow! Just Wow! 👍👍👍
  5. Lots of on street parking around campus if you are willing to walk a bit instead of paying to park. I recall parking on Hickory and walking to Fouts back in the days before Apogee. City streets, so free. Plus you get a bit of exercise before chowing down on all that tailgate fare. Winner! 😂😂
  6. Well, you recruit those type of players you get that type of results. Chickens come home to roost sometime, and gee, who recruited those guys?
  7. Nice video! This event was very well done and fun fo those who were able to attend.
  8. Hey, thanks for bringing a group. 👍👍. Maybe some will like the whole experience well enough to come back. Hey, folks...if anyone has an extra parking pass, why not find out which game brooks91 is talking about (I assume Lamar, but don't actually know) and offer him the pass for his friends? Just a thought.
  9. I can agree with you on most everything here except the "it's perfectly ok to have an excuse" thing. It is perfectly OK to have a truthful and legit reason, even "I don't want to go", that's a choice and a fact, and legit, but excuses reflect laziness and rationalization. That doesn't work anywhere. But, yes, point taken.
  10. Totally agree, but why try to come up with excuses to justify why not? Just let it go and come or not come based on your own schedule? You cannot schedule events that will will please everyone...trust me, I know. And, some folks will make complete fools out of themselves over what and when you schedule things even though they would not come or support the event anyway. Lot's of personal experience with being on the nasty receiving end of that. Just come or don't come. Excuses are usually just that excuses that can be seen right through easily. Everyone has missed events they would love to attend due to schedules...happens.
  11. Many times...have you? Chad Rose...remember him...drove from Downtown Dallas and was there when I got there about 10:15am. He was amazed how easy the drive was ... said all lanes over the lake and the HOV lanes open. And, I can confirm all lanes open going south. There were at least 6 people I know there when I was there that had come from Dallas, Carrollton and/or Lewisville. All using I-35. And I have personally done the Denton-Dallas and back commute on I-35 at least 8 times in the last two weeks....so, yep...done it! P.S. I commuted from Denton to Dallas or Bedford 5 days a week for close to 40 years, so, yep, got some experience with that highway for a bunch of years for sure!
  12. You had class straight through from 8am to 8pm? Man, you are carrying one heavy load of classes! Wow! You graduating in 1 1/2 years?
  13. Candidate for LastChanceU?
  14. Was told today at the ticket pick-up event that these new "cabana" seats have been sold out and to NEW ticket buys not folks moving current seat locations. And, if the price I heard was correct, these are definitely premium seating prices for Apogee. My opinion...GREAT news! Again, just what I was told. The source is "inside", so hopefully so. Really good news in my opinion.
  15. I saw another person doing that, so fingers crossed you can as well. Ticket office was open and operating when I was there. Saw your Dad there and was good to see he made it home OK!
  16. Well...we near the eve of the event. I would like to ask that anyone who is going to play in the bag tournament please confirm their participation here or through a PM to me. We need to start setting up the tournament brackets and it is a bit of a challenge not knowing who is and who is not playing. So, please try to confirm here or through that PM to me if you can and if you se this in time. Appreciate the help. Weather looks much cooler than a normal August Texas day, so we lucked out there for certain! Yea! If you have a team please indicate as such and what your team name is (if you have one...it is not necessary to have a name by the way), and if you are a single and want to be matched up with a teammate, please indicate that as well. Again...appreciate the help. If we have the names ahead of time and can complete the brackets it will just help us start rolling with the tournament sooner in the day. Remember, you don't have to play to come and enjoy the event...we would love to have you and as many others as we can get to attend as there will be a 50/50 raffle and a raffle for two sideline section season ticket seats to this year's Mean green season at Apogee. Only selling 100 raffle tickets at $10/each. So chances are pretty decent. And, as always, great beer selections at East Side and lots of great folks to just enjoy chatting with while attending. Hope to see you there!
  17. Absolutely NOT true when I was there today. Sure...several of us "old codgers" there, of course, but a very good many employed folks as well...chatted with some who came up from Dallas and some from Tarrant county as a matter of fact...and some that work in Dallas but live in southern Denton County. Know a guy driving up from Dallas County after work to be there by 6:30pm and happy hour. Look, I get that this doesn't work for everyone, but they are trying new things at different times and days to see what works. They wanted both Seth and Wren there...they had to work around their schedules and the team practice schedule. No doubt not everyone could make it...heck, if it were Saturday there would be plenty of other conflicts from weddings to family events to kids sports to funerals to dinner parties to kid birthday parties to charity events to professional sports and on and on. There really is NEVER a perfect date and time. But, let's see how the attendance goes and what the response is to this event before we just start knocking the idea because your schedule doesn't accommodate the date/time. It runs from 8:00am to 8:00pm. Time for even working stiffs to get there if they live in Denton, Collin, Tarrant, Dallas Counties, etc. if they want to attend. Not perfect, I get that, but can we for once just wait to see if this is successful, at all, before the "wrinkled $100 bill folks" start the usual stuff? If it is a poorly attended event, chances are it will be reviewed and changed or dropped. This new group is trying...let's give them a chance to see what works and what doesn't. Really sorry that this scheduling did not work out better for you and others...it really was enjoyable and decently attended when I was there. The new ticket presentation package is great by the way.
  18. Oh...I remember very well. He had some pretty good games against the 'Boys as I recall.
  19. Excellent...should be a fun event. See you there!
  20. And, there I thought it was "only at North Texas". 👍👍😂😂😂😂
  21. Noooooooo! Say it isn't so! Get well fast Lance! 😇😇😥😥
  22. Yes...understand that, but I was referring more to the "cookouts" held after the athletic dept sort of took it over. Understand the "original" started differently with you guys. And, by the way...the event you refer to is a Denton County Alumni Chapter event. And, while it is open to all, the focus is on Denton County Chapter members. Thus, local Denton County members. Tarrant County has an event at the FW Zoo, Dallas held one at the Frontiers of Flight Museum and Collin County held an event at The Frisco Roughriders game.
  23. New seating going in...no clue what the pricing will be, but probably a higher buy in than the Bowl sideline seating. Just another option for some premium type seating. So great seeing these new ideas and improvements starting to take shape. More to come...more to come.
  24. Hey, looks like we are going to catch a break with the weather for our event. Forecast is saying a high of 90 which is way below average Aug temps. May even be below 90 for our tournament as we start at 11:00am. So, come on out and enjoy the "cooler" August temps and support a fellow alum. See you there! Saturday, Aug 5th, 11:00am, East Side on Oak Street in Denton.
