I'll just say that Josh came up BIG at the end of the game last night. Too bad it even came to that. had the team been able to hit its free throws the game would never have come down to a "must rally" at the end. Great end to a nice win for the Mean Green. I am still puzzled as to why the team gets up 10-12 points and then just has a "brain freeze" and gets VERY VERY Sloppy. Cardiac kids might be a good nickname for this bunch. You may not like the Denver offense, but they run it pretty darn good. UNT could not seem to figure it out for the majority of the night and left that 3 point shot wide open time and time again. They held Eric to a pretty "below average" game for him and kept Josh out of it for most of the night. George made his usual strong contribution, but was not nearly as dominate on the boards as usual (in my opinion) and really struggled at the line. The refs had their own "challenges"...especially the short grey haired guy...both coaches seemed to have some "challenges" with several of his calls...how do you miss some of the calls he missed and be a qualified college ref??? Anyway....great job by the Mean Green to hang in there and overcome some very very sloppy play. Play like that in the tournament and it might be an early "bye bye", but hang in there and "find a way" to get in done in spite of the period of "brain freeze" and it could be a great tournament run for the Mean Green. These guys seem to me to have the confidence that it takes to pull out a game like this one and to do some real damage in the tournament. Peaking at the right time it seems. GO MEAN GREEN...

eulessismore...not wanting to start a "dust up" or anything, but can you be specific about what "the Republicans have done in regards to higher education in Texas" that has you "pretty ashamed"? -

Yep...and why would anyone give you a -1 for just posting the link? Amazing. I gave you a +1 to try to even it out a bit. Seems some folks just like to be negative! ha! -

"let's Just Talk" Diplomacy
KRAM1 replied to KRAM1's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Pot calling kettle black. If you don't care for the political discussions...just don't reply. No need to add smart non-topical comments in threads you don't like. Just pass them by..no one needs smart remarks that add nothing to the conversation. It isn't hard...just don't reply...and keep from being "whipped" if you are that easy to whip. If the talk lands a little close to home, ignore it. Seems simple enough to me unless your point is to simply make some smart comment...if so...no problem, we'll understand full well where they come from. It's an open forum after all. "Your side" is always welcome to point out where you think "my side" might be so wrong. Reading the subtitle to this "non-athletic" thread might help you understand what gets posted here....something about not for the faint or weak...something like that. Besides, MLB kicks off soon enough...so relax. -
Wondering if anyone with a degree from UNT is qualified to do this job? One wonders why UNT had to hire an Ohio grad. Is no member of the Mean Green Nation qulaified or do none ever apply for these positons? Just asking. I welcome our new Mean Green nation member and will do all I can to help any way I can to see him be a success.

"let's Just Talk" Diplomacy
KRAM1 replied to KRAM1's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Absolutely...that's perhaps the reason you do not go back to step one when it has been tried and failed...more than once. No one has skipped the first two steps you mention and no one has gone to step three with Iran, N. Korea or Venezuela that I know of at this point. Seems the administration, in all its campaign glory, was all set on just sitting down and talking and the folks would certainly agree with everything and we would once again enter "peace in our time" la la land even when that strategy had failed so very badly many many times before. It worked as a campaign ploy, but the reality of leading is much different than campaign ploys and buzz words like "change". So many of the campaign "promises" have fallen by the wayside and so many of the realities of governing and leading are beginning to sink in with this administration. But, fast learners they are not. Love the billboard recently erected in Minnesota. have you seen it? It's a photo of President Bush with the words; "Miss Me Yet"? Or, something to that effect. Pretty funny. While I was not a big fan of G. Bush (much to free with the spending, etc.) I do think the billboard is pretty funny. A sign of the times perhaps and a sign of the coming times for the 2010 mid-terms perhaps. We'll see, won't we all? -

Case in point. Where did this come from? eelly, are you really this biased and jaded, and do you really have such hatred in your heart for folks who don't agree with your radical political views? Nerves a bit on edge this morning or what? You are kidding, right? -

I see that so far no one has anything constructive to add? I guess the reality of the situation the nation finds itself in with this current administration is finally beginning to sink in to even some of the more ardent supporters. That, or perhaps folks are actually beginning to open their eyes to the reality of the situation. We can at least hope that is the case and build toward the 2010 mid-terms. -
Nice to see the ladies post a "W".

Just wondering what others might think about how that "let's just sit down and talk"diplomacy stuff has been working out for the current administration? You know, like getting Iran and North Korea to come to the table for serious negotiations over their nuclear programs? Today's WSJ has a nice article about how the Administration is falling back on President Bush's methods since that "talking" thing hasn't worked out too well. But, I am sure there are those who think it's working out great. In fact...just what policy of the current administration is working well??? Job creation perhaps??? Deficits???? Closing down Gitmo???? Bringing justice to terrorists in civilian courts????? Spending and taxing???? But, I digress......

Big Move For Cu ? Pac 10 Considering Expanaion ?
KRAM1 replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
Funny, I recall a friend of mine who played football at BUY during the Lavell Edwards days, telling me that after wins the players would be "surrounded" by co-eds who would stay with them and party all night...even going so far as to "do the dance" through out the weekend. Then when Monday came along, the same co-eds, if they should pass the players walking across campus, would act like they had no clue who they were. Happened after each win and included plenty of booze. Yep, that BYU culture would never work in the PAC 10! And, that honor code thing will get you turned out of campus really quick for "stuff" like happens in the PAC 10 schools. On the other hand, my daughter lived in Provo for awhile (still lives in Lehi, Utah) and while on a business trip I stopped by Provo to take her to dinner. We went to a Mexican food place (yuck...in Provo no less) because it was the only place at the time where she knew they had beer....I do love a good cold beer...I ordered a Miller Lite (I thought the kid waiter would know what that was), and the kid brought me a Miller MG Draft! He didn't even know what a Miller Lite was even though they served it in the restaurant where he was working. I think that waiter kid needed to meet some of the BYU co-eds partying after the football team wins!!!! I do think CU would be well served to stay with the Big XII. -

Does one have to be gay to have a man crush? Didn't know that was a requirement. Silly me...no, I am sure Silver isn't gay and would never call him that...he's just old and needs help getting back to the home from time to time! -

Oh...Emmitt...I forgot...thanks for completely missing the point of the post as well. It had absolutely nothing to do with production...it had everything to do with supporting the kid who was playing at the time...for whatever reason...had absolutely nothing to do with the coaching decision. I guess you just don't understand "positive", and wanting to support the players...you just seem too focused on bashing the coaching staff at every opportunity. Too bad, you miss a lot of "good stuff". But, carry on.... GO MEAN GREEN!- 28 replies
