  1. Who cares? He's not part of UNT's future. That's all that matters.
  2. I like the fact that NT has new stadium.
  3. While it was a very "soft" goal to give up by Green, it resulted in a good start for the US team in the World Cup. US should be favored to win over Serbia, but Serbia did beat Algeria 1-0 to lead the group at the current time. The Algerian 'keeper was also beaten on the Serbian goal, and should have made that save. It ruined a great "0-0" possibility which would have definitely helped the US. Next game against Serbia Friday...USA...USA...USA!!!! BTW, TV ratings in the US are way up over the 2006 World Cup ratings. Good news for futbol fans everywhere! Still think it will be England and the US advancing from the group.
  4. Thanks for posting...should be another great season for the Mean Green!
  5. Buy your own tickets, cheappie!
  6. Both have some info. Much nicer and bigger layout in the DRC.
  7. Seems plenty big enough for its purpose to me. What we alumni really need, and I hope one day to help create, is a new Alumni Center, either on or off campus, that is at least two to three times as big as the one currently occupied that will have the UNT Alumni name proudly displayed for all to see. The current facility is fine, for now, and probably for several years to come, but I am hopeful to see a much larger facility in the not so distant future. GO MEAN GREEN...Join the Alumni Association and the Mean Green Club! Like in the US census...numbers help!
  8. Small? What is the square footage of the facility? Do you have some info on that you would like to share? Not kidding or jumping your case here, as I don't know what the square footage is to be as yet...maybe you do. Also...whatever size it is, it is much larger than the one now available at Fouts and will make a very welcome addition for the Alumni. BTW, there is no such facility, of any size, at the other three universities I have attended and/or graduated from so, to me, this is a plus for UNT.
  9. Come on folks...NO, it is not the Alumni Center. In case folks haven't noticed, we have an Alumni Center on campus near the Gateway Center. This is a new pavilion that will be part of the new stadium complex. Geeeeezzzzzz...It's a GOOD thing. It will give the Alumni a great place to meet and greet and "tailgate" before games, maybe even after games and to host events at other times. I am always amazed that when something like this develops, and before any real announcements are made, that rumors start flying and there will be folks that think it is "negative" somehow without having anything other than rumor to go on. Just hang in there and official announcements will be made at the proper time. I would imagine that Alumni and friends may even have the opportunity to help support this project through their donations. We'll see. GO MEAN GREEN...join the MEAN GREEN CLUB and the Alumni Association. It helps a great deal when you do!
  10. OK, so why does that make it a great day?
  11. I am certainly not the "final say" nor do I have any big time inside scoop, but it is my understanding that the Alumni pavilion will be very near or even attached to the stadium.
  12. TX A&M won't go anywhere unless Texas heads the same way. Look for TX and TX A&M, OU, OSU, TT, COLO etc. to head to the PAC10 if Neb. bolts to the Big 10. I think TX would love to see the Big XII stay in tact, but won't sit by idle when the breakup starts. For all the folks who hate TX on this site...just get over it as in this deal TX is the cash cow/bell cow that everyone wants. TX even trumps OU in this deal. Not a big TX fan myself (having also graduated from Okla St), but I see no reason other than jealousy to "hate them". Seems to me that they are a pretty successful program and have helped some lesser programs along they way. Really don't give TX much thought other than when they play OU, OSU, etc. Sort of like SMU...no big deal. I'll take UNT and put my effort into helping where I can. GO MEAN GREEN!
  13. Excellent news for UNT and CONGRATULATIONS to all UNT's student athletes! Good job also to the UNT Athletic dept., academic advisers, etc. Well done.
  14. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703302604575294231631318728.html?mod=WSJ_Opinion_LEADTop Interesting, yes, a tad long, but interestingnone the less one person's perspective on the Obama presidency and what seems to be his "guiding reference". I make no judgements on this opinion piece from today's Wall Street Journal, but I do think it brings into perspective much of what this president believes and how he reacts and acts...not to mention what his ultimate goals may be. You read...you decide. I hope the link works.
  15. I agree...a service academy team, be it Army, navy or Air Force, would be a great way to open the new stadium...flyover guaranteed, parachute drop perhaps, uniforms all over the place, etc., etc. Ready made hype for the game and a really nice draw. So many promo's could be developed around it as well... GO MEAN GREEN!
  16. AGREE! GO MEAN GREEN. It's going to be a lot of fun to be in Fouts to watch the Mean Green this season. Can't get here soon enough for me.
  17. It would help overall revenue, the naming rights discussion and the program overall if fans would buy season tickets and actually come to the games this season. That, coupled with UNT's first winning season in several years, could do a great deal to move revenue stream up. BTW...have you bought or renewed your season tickets as yet, joined the Mean Green Club (any level you want will do just fine), made a donation to the new stadium (again, any level you want is fine), joined the Alumni Association or donated to a scholarship lately? All of this, at any level, helps when the AD can tell a potential naming rights candidate that we have so many season ticket holders, "x" number of members in our Mean Green Club and Alumni Associations, "X" number of stadium donors and scholarship donors, etc., etc. You may not think this sort of thing helps, but it is amazing what "large numbers" in these areas can do for a program. You simply cannot sit back and "let someone else" do it, or wait until some coach gets fired, or they add baseball or some other sport, or start winning, etc., etc. Excuses (and that's what they are really) don't get the job done. Withholding donations and memberships doesn't do a thing other than hurt the program. Your donation can be as big or as small as you want, you can join the Mean Green Club and Alumni Associations at minimum levels, you can make a small donation to the stadium fund, etc. Whatever you can do helps the cause and adds numbers...numbers are very important to the program right now as things turn positive with the new stadium and the expected improved performance on the field. Think about it seriously. Is there a REAL reason, other than some perceived snub or some dislike for a certain individual, etc. that is holding you back? Just think about what you really can do to help support YOUR university as it does what it can to move forward. Your help is needed. GO MEAN GREEN!
  18. I hope you are guessing wrong.
  19. OK, watched the US beat Australia 3-1 in a "tune up" today. There was a comment made by the announcers that when the US had the ball they were very good but when they didn't have the ball they seems to be in a bit of trouble. That might sum up the US squad better than any comment I have heard so far. If the US is to get out of group play and move on it will be because the defense stepped up and played better than they have been playing of late. I don't think the US defense puts much fear in the heart of the England squad at the moment. BTW, the England coach and David Beckham were at the US game today to scout the US squad. Dempsey played a solid game and took quite a few hard fouls. I was glad to see him subbed out in the second half. Altidore was hurt and resting, but it gave plenty of chances for Bradley to see how a few others might do such as Gomez. I like what I see in Gomez, but I am not sure he is ready for the spotlight as a starter. He should be able to come off the bench and provide a spark. But, as I said, my concerns lie on the defensive side of the pitch for the US. England is Excellent on set plays and the US defense seems to break down fairly often on set plays against them. Should be an interesting match up next Saturday...Central time zone kick-off is 12:30PM. OK, I'll ask again...any one interested in getting a Denton watch party together at the Pourhouse? If not...anyone have any serious suggestions for the DFW area? USA...USA...USA...USA...USA...Goooooooooooooal!
  20. Believe this or not...I went to the website...looked up the teams and emailed the league. Yes, I emailed the Polish Football Association. I got a reply within the hour. Eddrick plays for the Warsaw Eagles (once an Eagle always an Eagle). They have a game tomorrow at 1:30...you can go to the web-site and get a recap of the game. The response said that Eddrick may have hurt his ankle in the last game played, but may well be good enough to go in tomorrow's game. How's that, Eagle fans? Go to the web-site...it's fun. GO Eddrick!!!!!
  21. Just click the little english looking flag in the upper righthand corner and it will translate it for you. Pretty interesting...who knew?
  22. None of this stuff bothers me at all. UNT can take care of all of it by continuing to develop the program into one that wins consistently. When you have the record UNT has had the last few years it is not surprising to be "forgotten" or shown a bit of media "disrespect". That does not give me any sort of UNT fan inferiority complex. It is well past time that UNT's fan base, students, faculty, etc., etc. stopped thinking that UNT has anything ANYTHING to apologize about. UNT is a fine university and has an excellent academic and athletic program overall. Until the UNT faithful stop acting "small" and letting this "stuff" convince them that they are somehow "inferior", one simply cannot expect the rest of the world to think anything else. It starts at home folks. It starts on this board, it starts at the sports bars, it starts on campus, it starts by getting fans and students to actually attend games, it starts by alums and friends actually joining the Alumni Association and the Mean Green Club, it starts by buying season and single game tickets and by touting the "greatness" that is UNT at every opportunity. I take a back seat to no one and I don't back up to the "pay window" when I talk about UNT. I am proud of UNT and my association with it, and that may be one reason I don't understand some of the negative stuff from our own fan base. Winning starts with a winning attitude...on the field and in the classroom and on the streets. Wear UNT green proudly and be proud of your association with UNT. You might be surprised how much that might help to turn some attitudes around. I don't select coaches and I don't draw up plays and I don't get to sign players. But there are some things I can do to help UNT. I'll concentrate on the things I can do to help. And, I'll have a great time doing it. GO MEAN GREEN!
  23. Sorry, really didn't notice that. SUMG, greenjoe and several other GMG.com members were in attendance, so perhaps one of them can shed more light on this subject for you. I believe it was mentioned in another thread that the jumbotron had been moved to the other end of the stadium. But, sorry, I really do not know the definitive answer.
  24. Yes, there were several ads placed in the Denton Record Chronicle including one up to the day of the event. In addition all Mean green Club members should have received at least two emails from Jon describing events taking place. The event was mentioned in at least two of these email notices. It was an open event and the ads indicated as such. In this case, I really cannot fault the effort in trying to get folks to know about the event.
