  1. Mean Green won. I'm good.
  2. Yep...unfortunately, never a factor for UNT. I wish him well.
  3. Been told Dickey will be here. But, schedules can and do change...especially for FB coaches this time of year. You never know....you think he will be dressed in all black and give everyone the finger again? Tradition, right? And maybe we can create a re-enactment of the Silver Eagle stands confrontation with a person disguised as one of Dickey's staffers to cap off the tradition. OK, in all seriousness, this is a good thing and it will be good to have Coach Dickey back. Won a bunch of games and lots of us have some fond New Orleans bowl memories. While the final parting was not professional or appropriate, it is time to move on and welcome Coach Dickey back. Am certain that many of his players will show up for this and be very happy to see him. Here's hoping everyone welcomes Coach home.
  4. Typical clueless Kiffin...Navy ended up kicking the crap out of FAU after three delays for lightening in the area and Kiffin not agreeing to end the contest early being down BIG. So, they play on and, of course, Navy takes them to the woodshed. FAU looked pretty much clueless all night...bad snaps, bad routess, poor tackling...yep, Kiffin crap show. Pretty sure they will be better before they play the Mean Green, but so will the Mean Green be improved from game one. Very enjoyable watching the Middies run up and down the field. My QB prediction is that before FAU plays UNT Johnson will be FAU's starting QB. I guess he will still be academically eligible at that time...yes, I watched "Last Chance U". FAU better have some super academic help on hand.
  5. Nope...private funds. You do realize that those private funds go into UNT accounts which are then used to pay event expenses, right? No university funds utilized. And, on another note, Kelley Reese, UNT spokesman, has noted that the series has generated $1.65 million for UNT scholarships already. I wonder how much those whining about this series and falsely stating UNT funds are being utilized (by the way...Brit Ryan, BOR Chairman is pitching in $100,000 for this one) have donated for scholarships at UNT in the few years this speaker series has been in existence? Five UNT students will benefit THIS Year after being awarded scholarships from this series proceeds. It is a speaker series people! Stop trying to make it into something it is not! Come, don't come, buy a table, don't buy a table, but whatever you choose to do, at least get the facts straight before bitching about something.
  6. Really happy to hear this. Great seeing and chatting with both of you guys last evening.
  7. During the Kickoff Luncheon yesterday, Coach Littrell stated that starters will be playing on special teams this season aka Frank Beamer! He stated that you have to win two of the three phases of a game to have a good chance of winning and that Special Teams is one of those phases. For me, even given the injury risk, I really like this decision. To me, it says the Mean Green are serious about winning the Special Teams battle. Lots of games won or loss by special teams play. Will be interesting to watch how this turns out. Been working out pretty well for the Beamer. Let's go Mean Green!
  8. Guess you won't be going to many away games then. If you judge the ticket price by your feelings toward their stadium rather than the game being played, I guess that $200+ cost for a pre-season game ticket at AT&T stadium must be a bargain. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
  9. Record day for sure! Hard to do all that PP'ng stuff when God makes it rain and pushes back your construction schedule. And, won't give it away, but you are going to like the "special giveaway" on that day. Sweeeet! ๐Ÿ‘
  10. $35 is expensive?
  11. Yes, I think so as well. I am more than a little "confused" on how I feel about this...as you so rightly point out...just do not want folks to "game the system" by buying single game Club Seats without incurring the buy-in and MGC costs as well. Used once for marketing purposes, if the buyer truly is interested in purchasing and not just looking for a game ticket, I can definitely get behind. Don't know, but Ryan Peck said there were 30-40 unsold Club Seats remaining in total and they had a big push on to get them sold.
  12. Yes....30-40 seats remain. Was told they are focusing on trying sell the remaining seats so they can announce that the area is sold out! That would be pretty darn good news, but 30-40 seats is pretty close! Uh, no! Club Seat holders each have made a significant donation to the stadium and have paid a required MGC donation (per seat) and have paid for the tickets. Allowing a random buyer to pay $150 and forget the stadium buy-in and MGC donation is a "no" for me. Now, that being said, if the powers that be feel it would be a successful marketing tool to sell the remaining seats...well, can't argue too much against that.
  13. I fear an eminent domain fight for this site. I believe UNT can work it through eminent domain, yes?
  14. Got a bit of clarification from the AD...they are not selling individual Club Seat tickets to random buyers. This is an effort to sell the remaining few unsold Club Seats...Stadium donation and MGC donation and all. The email went to "selected" folks. Once all this is "complete", individual remaining tickets may be offered to current Club Seat holders for guest use. There is no intention of selling Club Seats on an individual game basis to random buyers. That being said...I received the email and I still think it to be a bit confusing.
  15. You know, I have relatives who fought (and some died) on both sides of this conflict. I have Yankees from Kansas (one being a Yankee unit Methodist preacher assigned to the troops) and Confederates from Alabama and Tennessee as relatives. And, I am proud of them all for their service. None of the Confederates came from slave owning families...in fact, they were just hard working farmers for the most part. And, all of them fought hard, but when it was over they laid down their arms, went home and built families and businesses and left this "war" thing alone. If they could today, I would bet those that fought on both sides would be sitting together, reminiscing about the war, their families and their careers while drinking some fine Tennessee sipping whiskey. All the while laughing at all these folks today making fools of themselves fighting over "stuff" they really can only speculate about. I'll bet they are all having a really good laugh sitting TOGETHER in peace arm and arm sipping that Tennessee whiskey. That's what I think about all this craziness. And, just a little Willie Hudspeth background. Willie was our youngest son's pee wee baseball coach. Great guy...wonderful coach with his priorities correctly set. Loved the guy coaching our son. And, yes, that Monument on the square has been a focus of his for a long time. But, funny thing is, even Willies goes back and forth on his opinions of it...he was against it staying...before he publicly starting campaigning for it to stay up....before he publicly started campaigning for its removal. And, yes, his current place of business on Bonnie Brae has been cited by code enforcement numerous times and, I believe, Willie, is currently fighting the citations in court. Willie Hudspeth is a good man. He is no John Wiley Price. His protests are peaceful and carried out within the scope of the City of Denton regulations for such. And, when he speaks at Council meetings he more often than not does so in a respectful manner. He, to my knowledge, has never incited violence no advocated such. Like his stance or not...that is fine, but people should acknowledge that Willie Hudspeth is a good man and an asset to the citizens of Denton. You don't have to agree with him to respect him..he has shown respect for lots of folks to whom he does not agree. Just my thoughts and take on Willie and perhaps a tad bit of background on the man.
  16. Folks will note that in Wren's "state of the year" letter to Mean Green Club members, it was stated that a goal for 2018 is the "restructuring of the Mean Green Club". Perhaps some of the emphasis on scholarships and perks will get "re-focused" during this restuucturing/re-branding.
  17. Single game club seats! I love the idea as a marketing tool, but this seems that someone could just by single game tickets in the Club area for each home game and not have to pay the Stadium donation yet enjoy all the benefits. Must be more to the matter. Again, live allowing folks to "try it before buying it" idea, but, for me, I hope there are some "restrictions" on times one can do this "single club seat" thing. We'll see...here's hoping we get lots of single game buyers who come back and purchase their own Club Seats.
  18. In Wren's letter to Mean Green Club members (it was posted as well in GMG.com) it was mentioned that the "quiet phase" of fundraising has been on-going and the public phase will begin soon. Get those checkbooks ready boys and girls. I am guessing that the "quiet phase" money will get it past groundbreaking and construction commencing. Public phase will fill in the "nice to have but not mandatory" items. Should be fun to watch this thing being built. Just another concrete indication that UNT finally has support at the highest levels of the administration and that athletics at UNT are important. So great to see!
  19. They do this at WKY in the hopes people will at least show up in a shirt of any kind and some form of shoes.
  20. Has to be...nothing else big in the universe going on that day. Has to be about unis! Otherwise dull day.
  21. Over 350 registered to attend so far...couple of days to go.
  22. Already started. Big changes all over campus from Deans to Department heads to the hiring of some pretty special new professors. Plus, emphasis on fund raising now permeates down from the Prez to professors. Lots of new alliances (see Dallas Cowboys), incrediable amount of new media pieces and uses of social media, new facility in Frisco and hearing another is coming.....and....a Prez that gets athletics! Yep...the cosmic shift has already started and it is only going to get better!
  23. Great decision! Bright future ahead for this still very young man. No sense risking it all with his known health issues. Looking forward to great things from Zach.
  24. That's it? Pretty wide open list. I am thinking maybe the qualification list was a tad longer! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ We lucked out with our latest Prez search, I am just hoping this selection turns out the same, and like you, am willing to hold judgement until we see how it works out.
  25. What would the ideal candidate look like to you?
