Don't much care about them one way or the other. UNT is what matters to me. I'll leave SMU to the folks who give a care what they do or don't do. All I want to do is play them as often as we can in any sport that we can and beat the tar out of 'em on the field of play! The attention some UNT folks give SMU must make the folks that support SMU smile. It would me...if you don't like SMU, best to just ignore them unless we get them on the schedule. GO MEAN GREEN!

Any New Ideas For The Mean Green Tailgating Crews?
KRAM1 replied to KingDL1's topic in Mean Green Football
Good grief, Lifer...not "in" the round up squad but "on"...you know...the group doning the "rounding up"! I don't even qualify as a "pretty boy", much less a pretty girl. -
I see no reason to do anything other than congratulate Tech on their new facility. I see nothing that impacts the Mean Green either way, and so why would anyone knock Tech for trying to upgrade facilities? What Tech does or does not do with their facilities really has nothing to do with UNT. I am pleased for their fans and their students. I hope they fill the joint up! But, to something that matters to the Mean Green...I hope UNT fills its new joint up as well. It is time for the UNT fan base and UNT students to get behind this program by putting their "behinds" in the seats. GO MEAN GREEN! Buy Season Tickets, join the Alumni Association and join the Mean Green Club. What you do and what you don't do makes a difference. YOU can help or you can stand around.

North Texas Feels The Sun Belt Is Better For Them

Careful, Silver, some on here take umbrage at anyone who suggests that there is a need for promotion within the dept. Just kidding...you know who you are. -
Any New Ideas For The Mean Green Tailgating Crews?

Always one looking to help UNT in any way I can...I volunteer to be on the "round up" squad. -
Sort of lets you know how many people read the Star-Telegram. Maybe their attitude toward UNT and UNT athletics is one of the reasons.
-
OK, I am late to the party, but I cannot let Silver's B'Day go by without a shout out to a great UNT fan and supporter. Agree on politics or not Silver is "spot on" in his never ending support for the Mean Green. That's a big A-OK in my book. Thanks for all your support for the Mean Green and HAPPY B'Day. I hope you have many many more "Happy Birthdays".

Really, cutbacks at the Star-Telegram so they cut out UNT? Two things here; 1) That is stupid 2) What is UNT and the athletic dept doing about it?

Saturday's Line-Up
KRAM1 replied to Censored by Laurie's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I cannot account for some people's choice in sport. My suggestion to you is to just watch baseball and never mind soccer. You obviously don't get it and don't want to get it. No crime in that. Enjoy your 3+ hour baseball games where it includes 3 hours of standing around. Great excitement that. No wonder so many baseball players are so fat and out of shape...they rarely have to move. But, if that's your game, go for it. Enjoy what you want. Besides, now you can stop complaining about a sport you don't seem to like. Everyone gets to pick the sports they like, Lifer. As long as you like the Mean green, I could care less about whether you like soccer or not. GO MEAN GREEN! -
Saturday's Line-Up
KRAM1 replied to Censored by Laurie's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Yep, agree...some of his personnel decisions leave me quite puzzled! Too bad...once again US give up an early goal. This time it hurt badly. This was a fun game to watch. We watched it at the Ginger man in Dallas. The place was full of fans and the scene was electric. Fund time, but would have been even better with a win by the US. Good run to the round of sixteen...at least the US showed better in the round of 16 did England. man, what's up with England? Rooney was a non-factor throughout the tournament for England. Big surprise. Time to dump that foreign-born coach I would think! So, here's an idea...what do you think about FIFA installing a rule that all national teams must be coached by a citizen of the nation they are coaching? Might give some young coaches around the world a real chance to develop. Just a thought as there are so many teams playing with foreign coaches. -
Man, were we there at the same time???? I was there in September and also did Munich for Oktoberfest and Bamberg for their great breweries and some unique smokebeer. When were you in Prague? Small world.
-
Agree about the Rahr tour, but it is closed for tours at the moment and they are not producing product in bottles at this time due to an event at the brewery during a big spring storm. The local Rahr rep told me they should have "product" back in the local market within the next two weeks, and the brewery tours should resume in just a few more weeks. Great fun.

True dat! Had several such discussions in Prague last summer on this very subject. Frankly, I agree with the Czechs on this one. American Bud does give Budvar a bad name.

Denton Alumni Chapter Summer Mixer
KRAM1 replied to KRAM1's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
As a Denton group we took it upon ourselves to start having these mixers on a regular basis. My thought would be for you to get in touch with Rob McKinney at the Alumni Association office on campus and discuss how many DC area alums there may be and how to go about setting up a mixer. If you would like to contact me, I can talk with you about how we have done it and how the Alumni Assoc. can help. Just send me a PM with your contact info and I'd be more than happy to help. GO ALUMNI...GO MEAN GREEN! -
Smithwicks Yuengling Lager Shiner Bock 1886 Rahr (almost any variety) and the original Bud which I had in Prague on a beer tour last summer! By the way....Mike's Hard Lemonade ain't no beer! Good it may be, but it's no beer!

You should ask drex to post his idea regarding the urinals at Fouts when we were playing SMU at home one year when he was working in the athletic dept. Priceless! Almost got it to happen, but, alas, was stopped at the last minute! GREATNESS of an idea...but it was his and if he wants to post it here great, if not, well......... Too funny...really it is! DREX???????? If you were around, you just have to have fond memorials of those old urinals in the men's room at Fouts...one of the things we can all...well all the men and some of the women....remember and "love" about Fouts!

OSU does and the students then have to buy tickets. UT and A&M both have athletic fees tacked on to students bills...at least that's what i am told by parents who have kids at both schools. Schools call these things a variety of different names, but they all seem to find a way to tack it on somewhere and somehow. I would like to see the numbers at UNT and at several other schools on how many students...undergrad...are actually paying the full freight for their education on their own with no $$$$ help from family or scholarships. Probably no way to get this info, but seems it would vary by school a great deal. The student "pay" percent at UNT may be higher than others, but I suspect it is probably pretty much in line with most other state schools in Texas. I am not talking about a kid who works part-time for spending money, I'm talking about kids who are having to actually pay their own way...the vast majority of the cost...on their own...no family or friend help and no scholarship money. Would be an interesting study I believe to look at this rate and how it compares to other Texas state universities and then expanded to other surrounding states such as Ark., Okla, N. Mex and La.

World Cup Is Finally Here
KRAM1 replied to TheTastyGreek's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jbn3rOPmR9w Ok, if I have been able to add the link correctly...take a look at this video. It will give you some indication of how soccer is, indeed, seeing success in the US. By the end of the video clip I actually had tears streaming down my cheeks. Pay close attention to the kid in his basement as it is a priceless reaction. Yep, no one follows soccer in the US. I think that old lame statement died on June 23, 2010! USA-USA-USA-USA!!!!!! GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL!!!!!! -
