  1. I've stayed at Cloudcroft and enjoyed it...as I recall it has a "mile high" golf course as well. I've stayed at the Inn of the Mountain Gods as well. It has more "activities" but is not nearly as "interesting" as Cloudcroft (in my opinion). I like the Santa Fe area as well...hard to go wrong there and Angel Fire isn't too bad either for a NM get-a-way. Nice golf course there as well.
  2. Do we really care? Like most, nothing in professional sports surprises me these days. I certainly hope Lance was "clean" and he certainly has spent a good bit of time and money fighting allegations that he used PHD's, but I say "no". I think the guy is "clean", but again, it is professional sport. So, .........................
  3. When will the public phase of the stadium fundraising program be unveiled and will UNT be working with a professional "outside" fundraiser to help the project along. Now that the stadium project is a reality and well underway, what is the next capital improvement/facilities project being considered for UNT? How are season ticket sales going this year? Any numbers to report? Has there been an increase in season ticket sales for football this season over last season? I would also add that a word of "thanks" to RV should be given as well as peppering him with question after question. GO MEAN GREEN!
  4. How many of you knew that Sky King actually lived and worked in Denton for awhile in the 1980's for what was then know as Lifetime Securities Life? I met him several times. Loved the show as a kid...great Saturday morning fare for kids.
  5. It's going to be a good fight for the Mean Green within the Sunbelt...great games, can't wait.
  6. Just saw where season ticket renewals for basketball are "in the mail"...good news. This is going to be another great season for the Mean Green with a much more "interesting" schedule. Can't wait for the games to tip off and for the Mean Green Club room to open for those pre-game "meet and greet and eats" to start again. Hope to see a lot more members at the pre-game events and many more season ticket holders in the stands. JJ and his guys have earned the right to play before much larger crowds. It is way past time that the student body paid these guys a little respect for all their hard work and actually started coming to the games. Those that come do a great job and are worth a few points to the Mean Green every game, the team just needs more support both from the students and the alums and fans. GO MEAN GREEN!
  7. Thanks Mean Green 93-98 Interesting, when you check the site and the write-up of their spring game and a write up halfway through spring parctice, you see not one mention of Woody, but plenty of praise for a QB named Davis. What's up with that? I hope Woody is seeing playing time as #1 and that it's simply a given that he's #1 and no need fopr a mention.
  8. Welcome Coach Bryant. GO MEAN GREEN!
  9. In the scheme of things this is not so atypical of Dez. he's a goofball and dances, at times, to his own drumbeat. That being said, the media will have a field day over this and the blogs will go nuts...as such it will become a big deal. See, we are even posting about it here on GMG.com because it's the Dallas Cowboys after all. In the end, Dez needs to step up and play the rookie role with a smile on his face. There have been plenty of players that have come before him that have had to endure this "it's just the boys having fun" hazing of a rookie. If he figures it out quickly it will die a quick death in the papers and all will be well, if he acts like a clown, it will linger and could become a clubhouse "issue". I think someone with a bit more "brainpower" than Dez will get him aside and let him know that it's just part of the game and he needs to play along. I'll bet Dez will be carrying pads as soon as today...if the kid is even half-way smart that is.....
  10. So, what's Woody doing these days? Is he playing QB at another DI program? I hope he's playing and playing well, but i really don't know. Anyone?
  11. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Remember the good times, Rick as I am certain there were so very many. May God bless you and your family and grant you strength and peace.
  12. The king is dead...long live the king! Good luck Lefty and thanks for all you did while you were a member of the Mean Green Nation. I hope you made a good decision for yourself and your family as we all end up having to make those decisions at some time or another. Now, adiós Lefty and welcome to the new line coach...when the announcement is made. The Mean green will be fine and this will open up opportunities for others...both coaches and players. GO MEAN GREEN!
  13. This sucks! But, it might give another guy the chance to move up and show that he is really the one to solidify the line, recruit some new "big guys" and relate to the guys and get them fired up for the season. If a guy doesn't want to coach at UNT, then his heart just won't be in it...so, give me a guy that wants to be here and let's "strap it on, and start hittin' somebody".
  14. You are definitely correct as UNT currently has Troy Kokjohn at the deep snapper position. Troy has shown himself to be able to handle the job at the D1 level at UNT. As soon as Troy graduates Blake and Mason should be able to take over and continue in Troy's footsteps. It's great to have underclassmen such as Blake and Mason in the wings gaining experience for thew time when they are needed. GO MEAN GREEN!
  15. OK, so here's a question. Is there any NCAA regulation against selling or auctioning off actual player jerseys after each game or after a season? A player could sign one of his actual jerseys (say one home and one away) and then the athletic dept. could put them up for sale or bid with the proceeds going to the athletic dept. for scholarships, etc. This cannot be an original idea...any one ever hear of this being done? Is it not allowed???
  16. So, the discussion already turns to the 2011 season when the 2010 has yet to kick-off. Never let it be said the GMG.com members are less than forward-thinking.
  17. Appreciate the help "Daddy"...very kind and helpful of you.
  18. GreenNawlins...I have been trying to reach you for over two months with no luck....I have the GMG.com Bowl T-shirt you ordered and would like to get it to you. Any way you could contact me with a PM here on GMG.com and get me some contact info?????? PLEASE......
  19. So you are really saying you think Josh is a true point guard?
  20. That would be Belo. Don't confuse Emmitt with the fact that the guy he "loves to hate" really doesn't OWN the DRC any longer and hasn't for some time. However, the son is still on the management team and editorial board as I recall. I get Emmit's "love to hate" deal as it would be ever so much better to have a MEAN GREEN person in that position. But all through the years the DRC has supported the Mean green and has done a nice job of reporting on the "doings" at UNT overall...with little to no mention of OSU. The guy graduated from OSU and loves the university. It would be nice if a few more UNT alums would show the same love for UNT. It is fine with me if the guy supports the school from which he graduated and wears their colors as often as he likes. Where is the problem with that? He is not anti-UNT by the way as he is a Denton guy and knows how important Denton is to the DRC and his home town. The guy lives in Denton and raises his family there.
  21. Send me a PM. I may have a game I cannot attend due to a nephew's wedding...UGH....I may can give you two for free if the game works for you, and you can/will really use them. I do not want my seats to go vacant if I give them away. UNT needs all the rears in the seats they can get. Would be happy to help out a "traveling Mean Green Nation member"...might help you with with the costs for the trip to have a couple of free tickets...at least a little. If interested, give me a PM and we can discuss the game in question. Glad to see you want to come up for a game or two! GO MEAN GREEN! BTW...can you imagine anyone scheduling a wedding...a wedding of all things...without checking the darn home football schedule first????? Man, this marriage may be off to a rocky start...good grief...get your priorities straight people.... for gosh sake!
  22. OK, let me go back and have another read. I certainly do not want to credit it to the wrong person. I'll take another look-see...appreciate the note. EDIT: You are correct, sir. See "public apology" to Tobi in my original post. Thanks.
  23. Man, how great is this? We must be getting closer to football season as there is a Dickey Vs. Dodge thread. Be still my heart! The King is dead...long live the King! Time to tee it up and strap it on for some Mean Green football! GO MEAN GREEN!
  24. You would, however, think Tobi could get the name of UNT's excellent running back correct. That seems like such an easy thing for someone who "demonstrates a knowledge of Mean Green football as good as, or maybe better than, anyone else covering them". Just saying...I do think Charlie NT73 has a point. Getting Lance Dunbar's name incorrect certainly does not add credence to the good work that Tobi can do. Sort of makes one "ignore" or write-off the Bleacher Report. Like Vito or not, he would probably never make this type of mistake. If you know the Mean Green at all, you know it is not "Lamar". Just a typo perhaps????? EDIT...thanks to Mean Green 93-98....I stand corrected...Tobi did not write the article in question. My apologies to Tobi....the thing was written by one Asher Feldman. Missed that...it's just that most everything I read from the Bleacher Report is written by Tobi. I just passed the author of this one right by. I would imagine that Tobi would NOT have made this mistake. OK, public apology done. Again, thanks Mean Green 93-98.
