Excellent Part II to go along with the excellent job done on Part I. I truly believe that UNT is lucky and blessed at the same time to have an AD with as much passion for the University as RV has day in and day out. He is "on the job" 24/7 folks...believe that. When he said he was at the lake and went over to thank some folks with UNT flags out, he meant it. I have seen him stop people as he goes by to thank them for wearing Mean Green gear. This man lives, breathes and eat Mean Green athletics and UNT in general. His comment about "Praise in public and criticize in private" really hit the nail on the head. As a proud member of the MEAN GREEN NATION I would tell everyone that there is a lot to "PRAISE" about what is going on these days with UNT Athletics and UNT in general. Thanks, harry...Thanks RV...great Podcast. GO MEAN GREEN!!!!!

Really a shame. I was looking forward to see him play. However, if he cannot get it done academically at the JUCO lever, could we have expected him to be able to stay eligible at the DI level with his academics. While I hate to lose him, better to lose him now. Just another example of why trying to fill some holes with JUCO's is always a risky proposition. I don't say you shouldn't try, but just that one should not be that surprised when they don't make it to campus after signing. I hope he stays and gets his 2-year degree and then heads to a DI program...even UNT...after next season.

OK, I'll play...everyone knows how great I am at predicting UNT wins!!!! Take it to the bank.... Clemson - L Rice -W Army - W FAU - L ULL - W Ark St - W FIU - W W KY - W Troy - L MTSU - L ULM - W K St - L Overall 7-5 - And so it shall be...unless it is 8-4, 9-3, 10-2, 11-1 or 12-0!!!! GO MEAN GREEN!

I don't think it is "no more", I just think it has been changed for this year due to the heat and the stadium construction. They have added a scrimmage which is nice, and it's a breakfast not a mid-day or evening event. In the past it was "free" to season ticket holders with non-season ticket holders paying around $25. I see the confusion in that there is no price listed except for the 5K and the 1K family walk. I would assume it is free if you are not entering either event. But.........you never know.

Oh, man, that is great stuff! I am sooooooooo ready for some Mean green football. Any idea who did the video? Really nice work. Loved it! GO MEAN GREEN!!!!

Go Get "em Nathan. The Mean Green Nation and your team are behind you. Lead the way into and out of a great season for the Mean Green.

An even more ridiculous post than the one from Daddy Dumpsalot. However, many many thanks for stepping up and buying your first set of season tickets. Welcome to the "largely republican" crowd as you call it. Your support is very much needed and appreciated. BTW, season ticket purchases are not democrat, republican, liberal, conservative, progressive or libertarian.....they are in fact, supporters of the Mean Green Nation. Welcome to that crowd!

Absolutely stupid post. Obviously did not read or cannot comprehend what the vast majority of people urging fans to give WHAT THEY CAN (and only what they can) are trying to say. Maybe the arrow hit a bit close to home for you...I have no clue, but I would ask that you actually read posts in the future and do not attribute to the "masses" what you read from one posting.

I recall a comment from RV that suite sales were going fine and that most have been sold. That was some weeks ago, so I really do not recall his exact words, but he did seem pleased with the sales to date. As I recall there was still some availability at that time. The challenge RV is having is getting folks to buy season tickets THIS YEAR. Some seem to be waiting on the new stadium. That's great for next year, but doesn't do much for numbers this year. If people want UNT to be considered a candidate for a "step up" in conferences one of these days, it has as much...or more...to do with season ticket holders and filling the stadium as it does the won-loss record.

Why, roadtrip? Is Emmitt going to the Clemson game? My response to you comment really is: Wow! Grow Up!
-
Good luck, Sam. All the best of luck in the world to you as you pursue your degree and coaching career. We will miss you, but know that what you did for the Mean Green was appreciated. Remember the Mean Green when you get into coaching and steer some great players UNT's way! GO MEAN GREEN!

Tell me again how staying in the parking lot, not going to the games and throwing around a bunch of tortillas is supporting the program? Yes, people who complain and do nothing are exactly the ones holding the program back. DaddyDumpsalot buys tickets and goes to the games it seems from his last post. That's more support than most give and certainly more support than staying in the parking lot and flipping tortillas around. My problem with DaddyDumpsalot's comment is in the "attitude" toward the program. If you head the recent Podcast you heard a great quote from Bart Starr...I cannot quote it exactly but it went something like "It doesn't take a lot of courage to support a team when it's winning. It takes courage to support a team when it isn't doing well". Buying Club level seating has absolutely noting to do with it...it seems the comments hit too close to home for you....it's all about supporting the program or not. Hanging out in the parking lot before a game and tagging onto the fun before a game is great, but, in my book, that's not supporting the program. It's you having a fun time while others do the heavy lifting. It doesn't take much money to join the Mean green Club, even less to join the Alumni Association and very little to buy a ticket or two to a game and actually go to the game. ONCE more for those like eppy4life who don't seem to listen well, IT IS NOT ABOUT HOW MUCH, IT IS ABOUT IF YOU SUPPORT THE PROGRAM. Support the program at the level you wish and participate in what you wish...no one said anything about not supporting the Mean Green if one didn't play in the GMG.Com Bowl (Good Grief were you ever stretching and grabbing at straws with that one!), didn't buy club seats or season tickets. A $25 donation to the athletic dept or $50 to the stadium fund and an end zone seat for a game or two is FANTASTIC if that's what one can do. Support levels tend to build over time and as other financial obligations are put to rest, etc. Just think if every alum in the DFW metroplex gave just $50/year to the athletic dept. how much more the dept. could be doing to upgrade coaching, facilities, etc., etc. Again, if you heard the recent podcast you heard RV talk about how, even with the new stadium, season ticket sales are not going as well as hoped. Everyone will acknowledge that winning a few games would help, but some might be disappointed in where their seats might be in the new stadium if they are season ticket buyers before next season. Anyway, I hope the attitudes of many Mean green alums start to change for the positive soon. YOUR university could use your help. GO MEAN GREEN!

Great job guys...as always...looking forward to part II. Really appreciate this and it's always good to hear from RV. He is pretty darn open with his answers to the Mean Green faithful and if you read between the lines a little you really picked up on some great stuff from RV. Excellent...bring on Part II. Many thanks again...

Emmitt...whether you purchase Club level seating or not is a decision only you can answer...HOWEVER, NO ONE should ever doubt the support you give to UNT and the love you have for UNT. Your support is well known, and it has been there through thick and thin. If more people supported the program as you do on a consistent basis, UNT would have no problems with support from its alums and fan base. You are very much appreciated for what you do for UNT. GO MEAN GREEN!
-
Sad comment and exactly the type of comment that reflects in part why UNT has struggled to fund athletics on a consistent basis. My guess is that folks with this attitude would never purchase Club Level seating even if UNT played in the Big XII. Excuses...excuses. OK, so you won't purchase Club level seating (even though your comments indicates that you are financially able to do so) as the requirement for you that UNT join a different conference. So, are you financially supporting the program at any level? If so...great, you are doing more than the majority of UNT alums and "fans", and you have my appreciation for what you are doing. It doesn't matter if one doesn't care to buy Club Level seating. I know several great Mean Green supporters who just don't want to participate in Club Level seating, but they support the program in many other ways including donations to the stadium project, season ticket purchases, membership in the Mean Green Club and membership in the Alumni Association. It isn't how you help it's IF you help that matters. Support the program how you wish...just support it...as was said here earlier...be part of the solution, not part of the problem. If you wish to be part of the problem, just keep your opinions to yourself and go away. The Mean Green Nation will be just fine without folks who want to be part of the problem.

Wow...what a concept...fiscal responsibility. Agree with the concept. Also agree that the current array of sports being funded are not supported well enough to allow for more non-revenue sports at this time. That could all change with an infusion of good old US Greenbacks.
-
I wasn't complaining either, just pointing out that to add baseball (or any other sport) requires $$$$$ and lots of it. Many folks clamoring for baseball could help a great deal if they pledged $$$$ toward the start of the program. What you call a "rant", I see as pointing out the reality of the situation. Yes, many of us were clamoring for a new stadium and many of us stepped up to put our pocketbooks where our mouths were on the subject. Should those clamoring for baseball not be expected to do the same? As RV once told me when I was jabbing him about bringing men's soccer back..."just provide me with about $300,000 and a sustaining financial; base for the program and we are good to go". Not a direct quote as I have slept a few times since the conversation, but the point was made. Substitute "baseball" for"men's soccer" (but add more $$$ as baseball would cost more including a new stadium) and the answer is the same. I would imagine the entire Mean green nation would love to see baseball return to UNT. Just come up with the $$$$ and it probably a done deal.

And remember as well, if your income is at a certain level, the tax deduction you get for charitable donations can be reduced considerably, if you do not itemize deductions the deduction if of no benefit and if your chartiable donations are not at least a min. percentage of your income you get no benefit. Point is, it is a great way to support the stadium and UNT regardless of what possible tax benefit you receive. If you get a bit of a tax break, great and congratulations, if not, you still have a great deal at a great stadium and you are supporting your university all the while. GO MEAN GREEN!

Agree 100%. Exactly the reason my wife and I decided to step up and buy Club level seats. The cost will not be easy for us, but we just felt it was something we had to do if we wanted to help support UNT. I think the department was wise in opening up the Club level seating to various levels and pricing. Part of UNT's challenge over the year's has been to find people willing to be "part of the solution". This is a great opportunity to help change that situation. GO MEAN GREEN!

Harry...cannot wait for the pod casts to be posted. However, the club level seating situation has been posted and discussed in case you want to focus on other matters. There was a discussion within the last month regarding the changes to Club Level Seating costs and seat locations. I do not think it would hurt to repeat the info, however, as the word needs to get out to all with interest. Thanks for the Pod casts...can't wait! Really appreciate what you do. GO MEAN GREEN!

Welcome Coach Bryant. Glad to have you as a member of the Mean green nation. Go get 'em!

All those folks clamering for baseball have to do is to fund the program and baseball will be set to go at UNT. So, whose up next with a six figure donation? It's great to say UNT should do this or that, but it's another thing to find a way to fund it or establish it under current budgets and Title IX regulations, etc. I'd love to see men's soccer return as well as baseball, but, folks, without the funding it just isn't going to happen. UNT has suffered mightily from the lack of support financially and about any other way you can name from its alums and fans. It's just a fact of life that money talks in college athletics. Heck, UNT struggles to get a decent number of season ticket holders for any of its programs much less any level of real financial support from the vast majority of alums and fans. You want baseball...or soccer....well, get your alum pals to join the Mean Green Club, to buy season football and basketball tickets, to join the Alumni Association and re-connect with their university so maybe they will open their pocketbooks a little and help UNT build a strong and lasting financial footing. The folks who are contributing are doing what they can. If everyone just did what they could it would make a world of positive difference. Complaining about why things don't get done is great, but it never moved anything forward. Neither does the attitude that "I'll wait until I see what I want happening, or when they get rid of that coach or that AD, or that staffer who said something mean to me or ignored me, or that university president, etc, etc.". Excuses are a dime a dozen. It really is way past time for Mean Green fans, alums and supports to "put up or shut up".
-
I really hope everyone who is screaming for baseball will put their pocketbooks where there "I wants" are. I have no problem with UNT adding baseball, but there sure better be a bunch more folks than the one designated "big donor", (who may or may not still be a viable option) willing to support the team, and I don't just mean by buying a few season tickets. So, are those who continually clamor for baseball willing to step up and help make it happen? I'd throw a little into the pot, but baseball isn't my thing so I would not be considered one of the prime donors. I'll do what I can, but what about all you guys who think the sun rises and sets on the fact that UNT needs baseball????? To make it happen UNT needs a decent stadium, the money for equipment and scholarships, a fix for title IX issues and then money for on-going support. RV will not add the program or even consider adding it unless and until he has a good handle on where the funding will come for multi-years going forward. I hope that funding is there for UNT.
