Unt Vs Clemson Watching Parties....all Locations
KRAM1 replied to UNTflyer's topic in Mean Green Football
So, how much effort was put into this? Did you call the Alumni Association for help in getting the word out? Are you even a member of the Alumni Association? Did you contact a local sprorts bar or other suitable location and let it be known where and what time? Did you even post the info here on GMG.com so other Houston-area Alums and fans that read the board would know? I have posted on here many times letting people know that I would be happy to help provide ideas and contacts in getting an alumni group/chapter together....to date, not one PM. Bottom line...it "ain't gonna happen" if you sit around and wait on someone else to do the work so you can just show up and complain that the folks who did the work did it all wrong! You want a stronger Alumni base in the Houston area? Great...do something about it other than complain. The Denton Chapter was floundering as well until some great alums got together (on their own) and decided they wanted a better chapter and a stronger chapter. Took some work, took some time...still not 100% there...but it's a darn sight better than it was 3-4 years ago...thank you Joe and Judy Stewart and the other alums who held it together. But, you may be too busy. It's always easier to complain about the "other guys". I cannot believe that with a new sason firing up, with a new stadium being built, with record enrollment, new campus facilities, new degree programs, etc., etc. that people still want to focus on the negative so very often whether its the football program, the campus, academics, etc. Some people are just too busy doing nothing that they don't have time for anything it seems! Good Grief. Why not just stay home and have a "pity party" all by yourself? -
WOW...so much love so early!

I would think this is akin to "yelling fire in a crowded movie theater" when there is no fire. Hold them long enough to get the answers as to why that crap was in their luggage and tied together like it was, then we can decide if it was a "pre-planning event" a "dry run" or just two pretty stupid guys flying to that beautiful vacation oasis of Yemen. One would think there would be some way to hold the guys for at least, say, 72 hours. That should be time (between the meals, rest time, exercise time, court appointed lawyer time, naps, breaks, prayer time, etc. some ACLU lawyer gets them while in custody) to find out what they were, or were not, thinking. I do not advocate drumming up any charges or faking anything, but what legal options are available should be used to the fullest to find out what the intent may or may not have been. I cannot believe anyone, in this day and age, is stupid enough to attempt to board a commercial flight with stuff like this in their luggage. It's too bad that being THAT stupid isn't a crime. Do they speak/read English? have they been in the US for any length of time? Are they legal? Citizens perhaps? If not, well, let's see what immigration laws might apply. They better hope they are not civilians as the ACLU and many judges these days could care less about citizens, it's the illegals they are concerned about...and the criminals, of course. To heck with those pesky citizens.

KRAM1 replied to PlummMeanGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
It's ALWAYS a big week for deep snappers and the various local chapters of the Alumni Association. Man, "exes", you are so far out of the loop that you can't even see yesterday. Back at ya! -
Great job, Tasty. Really appreciate you effort for those of us who couldn't attend or listen live. And, Quoner, that's probably about 702. I din't want you to lose count.

And, that is significant or applicable, how? I am honored to know you are counting and that it makes that much of a difference to you. Something in my post regarding "rocks and glass houses" or "stuck pigs" get to you? Just trying to have a little fun with you. Sorry it must have struck a nerve. Sure didn't mean it that way. Having a bad day? -

Where's the "grammar police" when you need them? Probably stopped at the side of the noun eating a donut. Good grief! -
SUMG is a "closet" soccer fan and is just too afraid to admit it because of all the grief he has given me over the years.

We'll find out Saturday starting at about 2:30PM CST! GO MEAN GREEN!

Why You Should Try to Attend Mean Green Watching Parties
KRAM1 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Great gesture. Thanks. Ok, and just to let folks south of the lake know...the Denton County Alumni will also host a watching party at Fox and Hound in Lewisville that day. If you can't make the Pourhouse event, come on to Fox and Hound. There will be a room reserved for our use and watch party. Where ever you watch...cheer loud and cheer often for the Mean Green. -

Well, $45 doesn't sound that bad to me, if it was a good seat location, but the post says it is the "lowest priced ticket". Makes one wonder what a "good seat" would cost. TCU had to know the prices would be high when they signed to play in Jerry World. TCU is not the first to use Jerry World, so it should come as not surprise to anyone. It isn't the ticket price that I would see as "gouging", but wait until they see the price to park and those concession prices. I find it hard to believe that folks would not be aware of this situation by now. You want to play with the "big boys"? Well, there is a price to pay. I hope there is a good crowd for TCU's sake and the TV exposure. But, my focus is on the Mean Green. Good luck TCU. -

Unt Alumni Event In Dc
KRAM1 replied to GBarksdale's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
You do know that you could organize events in the area any time you think it would be a good time to get some alums together, right? You don't have to wait on an "official" gathering set up entirely by the Alumni Association. That's what we do with the Denton Chapter. The Association can help you get the word out and all you need is a place that will give you a room and BINGO there you go! I am not ragging on you at all, just mentioning to folks that the Association itself has limited personnel and very limited resources to set up events around the country on a regular basis, but that does not and would not stop them from helping someone who wanted to work as a coordinator in an area to get some Mixers/Watch parties, etc. going. I have found it to be fun and a great way to meet other alums. Sometimes we have a good turnout, sometimes not so great, but an after-hours mixer is a great way to end a work day no matter how many show up. Get in tough with Rob McKinney or any of the great folks at the Alumni Association and I am sure they will help you with Alumni materials, emails to local members, etc., etc. Or, PM me and I'll be glad to help any way I can. Enjoy the event...talk to the Alumni folks there and see how you might help set up some regular mixers in the area. You will definitely be happy you did and I am sure other DC area alums will be so as well. GO ALUMNI...GO MEAN GREEN! -
I think Flyer is becomming a "soccer guy"! Way to go ladies! Great start to the season.

B-Ball Season Tickets - First Timer
KRAM1 replied to rockguitarist4life's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Thanks for your support of the Mean Green. We sit in the lower bowl as well near the media tables on the team bench side. Love the seats and have a great view of the action. Not down as close as SUMG, but if he gets to out of control I am close enough to hit him with some well aimed popcorn! Glad to have you join the season ticket crowd. I( agree, the best thing to do would be to call the ticket office. They should be more than willing to answer all your questions. It will be a great season to have your seats reserved! Thanks...I hope you are one of many who decide to support the Mean Green through the purchase of season tickets. JJ and company have certainly done all they can do to make it a great value! -
ABSOLUTELY CORRECT! Sometimes it's fun to hack off the punctuation police...other times not so much! OUCH!

Ot : Who Does Your Hs Alma Mater Play This Week

Well, keep your hands to yourself around all those dancers and be a good boy. I am sure your wife will reward you with a treat for being such a swell guy! My wife was a teacher for 3rd grade in Argyle, and the events I went to did not have any "redeeming social value" like football and dancers, but, but hey, you do what you must! Try ear plugs. They may work for both the fight song and those "dancer parents". Your wife a dance team leader at PEHS? Wow, that could get real interesting with some of the helicopter moms I would suspect! Hide a beer in your pocket and head out to the men's room when it gets really tough.
