  1. If my schedule allows, I'd be in for a GMG Happy Hour. Just FYI...there will be an Alumni Association Happy Hour at Black Finns in Dallas on Beltline Road on OCTOBER 21st starting at 6:30PM. Why not combine the two? All GMG folks could come by for Happy hour set up already by the Alumni Assoc. and discuss the next GMG.com location, date, etc. Might be a good chance for a mini-meeting to set up the GMG happy hours! Anyway...kepp us posted. Hope to see everyone at the Alumni happy Hour in Dallas on the 21st of Oct. as well. GO MEAN GREEN!
  2. We'll be there...my bride and I will be helping at the Alumni Tailgate area as well...we need some help with our scholarship project this season...if you haven't seen the Fouts Field Farewell Tour Mugs, posters and t-shirts the Denton Chapter is selling to raise scholarship funds, PLEASE stop by and take a look. Posters are only $5 Mugs are $11 and T-Shirts are $15 All proceeds go to scholarships for UNT students...there is a "package deal" if you want the set. Many thanks to all who have come by and helped out so far this season. GO MEAN GREEN!
  3. Not bad at all, but hang around the UNT campus for an hour and you'll see plenty of much better looking young ladies and check out the UNT volleyball, swim, golf, etc. teams and you'll see some great looking UNT lady athletes. Morgan is nice looking, but she probably wouln't make the top 100 at UNT.
  4. Just a reminder...the Pourhouse supports UNT in a big way and is locally owned...just saying......
  5. Total team effort on this one beginning with team prep by the coaching staff. How good does it feel now to have Riley available to run the offense? Pretty darn Good in my book. It seems the Mean Green have some emerging leaders on this team that have decided that they can make it happen with or without the injuries. The game Saturday will be very important in allowing this team and staff to make a statement in the SBC for the rest of the year. Really great to hear about this win. The team and coaches stepped up with the game on the line and made it happen...and how about that D when it counted??? Wow..I have been waiting for that! Way to go "D". GO MEAN GREEN!
  6. Be still my heart...Let the "positivity" begin in earnest. And, for me, I hope it stays toward the positive side from here on out. GO MEAN GREEN! On to victory # 2. See you at Fouts Saturday.
  7. Classic! +1 for you, sir! Too funny!
  8. If you think I'm rich, well, it is now 100% clear that you have no clue who I am or anything about me...signing off. have a nice day.
  9. Yes, to all questions??? Really? If that is actually the case, you get props from me and a big thank you. However, you certainly must know absolutely nothing about me, but it is becoming painfully clear what you are all about. Plus, not sure you know how to read, but that's another issue. Nazi???? Now that is funny. You obviously have no clue what National Socialism and Nazi Germany was all about. You are the prime example of "a stuck pig squeals". BTW, I have a wife and three kids too...what the heck does that have to do with the fact that you feel the need to play "get in everyone's face" guy? No one that I know has claimed "perfection", but anyone who thinks they have the right to be the "get in everyone's face" because they may have a different approach to something and who feels it necessary to use the "Nazi" label is getting pretty darn close to thinking they are perfect. You might want to step back a bit and cool your jets. And, speaking of "cooling ones jets"I am going to take my own advice...I am out of this thread. No point to it, really. Just gets my blood pressure up. Need to focus on the fact that UNT will be handing Army a loss Saturday. If you feel the need to get in my face...fire away if it will make you feel better. I'm out! GO MEAN GREEN!
  10. Hey, I like that guy and his rant. Pretty funny and the guy has a point... But, how did that game against Oregon turn out? Second, the blue hairs in the boxes and "sitting on their" rears are the ones kicking in the big bucks to keep that stadium and that program operating, so you might want to check the "blue hair" attitude at the door a little. I would love to see FFR or some other Mean green fan do such a video...might not want to call out any certain group of fans, but all fans and pseudo-fans to get behind the Mean Green. It could be a definite winner!
  11. Depends upon the age and the circumstances...but, yes, one must be very careful about this sort of thing. If they are family members, family friends, etc. you can definitely talk to the about UNT...as a friend or relative, but not as an official of the University and not in a capacity so as to offer them anything. And, you can talk to their parents. I recruit soccer players for the United States Merchant Marine Academy, so am pretty up on what I can and cannot do in that regard...even as a rep of the Academy. You are VERY correct that you have to follow the rules and be very careful, but the NCAA does not prohibit friends from talking to kids about possible college choices. Once the kid gets on the recruiting radar of schools it is best to stay out of the way so as to avoid such potential violations. You can break a rule very easily...so, you are correct in being careful...very careful. A member of the Mean Green Club talking to a recruit could be seen as a problem because the member may be seen as a booster offering...you get the idea. Good to be overly cautious and careful to a fault in talking to kids, but I think you get the drift of my post, right?
  12. You are correct, sir. Plus 1 for you! Like you, I enjoyed some of that aggressive mentality...some worked out some didn't, but you knew what you would be getting come game day.
  13. OK, but are there no phone or cell hook-ups out of the country and/or no web hook-up? Heck, my kid was in Iraq and had web and phone access....what's the point of posting something that old now?????? I did miss the date, but the complaint is still valid if the site has not been updated. I don't have a problem with the fact that he is upset with the situation...just the fact that it gets posted here with a comment that says support is contingent upon a clothing web-site. This sort of excuse after excuse for not supporting UNT or a function of UNT is asinine at best and reeks of just looking for some lame excuse. If you have a challenge with something, pick up the phone and talk to the folks in the area of your concern. Do it professionally and you would be doing them a big favor. I personally appreciate such calls or PM's as they point out areas of concern. No problem with that, but blasting it on GMG.com and using some lame excuse such as that for withholding support is simply nuts!
  14. Thanks so much. Really apprecaite your support. Why don't you give them a call? Your phone out? You might find out what's going on with the site if you took the time to call instead of posting here. Give Rob McKinney a call and see what's up, and what they may or may not be looking at doing with the site. Always good to see that your support hinges on a shirt color or web site. Solid! But, I will definitely also check it out and see what's up. Would have been nice if you could have shot me a PM and let me check into it further for you before posting here, but then again, you couldn't have made negative comments about the Alumni Association and told everyone how you will not be a member any longer because you are so outraged about a website. Hope you feel better.
  15. For me, it is the next two games...as has been previously said, if UNT can win the next two (and I fully expect them to do just that) and be 2-2, then I think the season could very well end up with a bowl for the Mean green. But, go 0-4 to start the season and it could just have a negative effect on the mental state of the team large enough to make 6-7 wins truly too big a hill to climb. I would definitely never say never even after a 0-4 start, but "reality" says that it would be a real tough go. So, it starts Saturday at Army. Win at Army and the Mean green is back in action and headed forward. GO MEAN GREEN! TANK ARMY!
  16. Great...now tell me what you are personally doing to help the program? How much of your time, talent and dollars go to help the program move forward? If you want to be the "get in your face" guy, I want to know what makes you think you are the one who has any right to be that guy. Do you buy season tickets? Have you donated to the Stadium Fund? Are you buying Club Seats? Do you talk to others and ask that they also donate and purcase season tickets? Do you actaully attend games? Do you bring guests with you to the game to introduce them to UNT? Do you donate back to your academic dept and volunteer to help with their activities? Are you a member of the Mean Green Club? Do you attend Alumni functions, and are you an annual and/or life member of the UNT Alumni Association? Do you talk to potential recruits and HS coaches about UNT and the benefits of playing "close to home"? Do you help recruit students for UNT at HS College Fairs? I know you didn't help with the GMG Bowl scholarship efforts last year. Come on, self-appointed "in your face guy", list out your qualifications so we can all see who will be "in the face" of those with perhaps a somewhat different attitude about the whole thing and WHO actually do all the above and more to try to help. You are more than welcome to get in my face anytime you think your self-appointed self thinks necessary as long as your mouth is not bigger than your support for the program...and I am not just talking about $$$$ support. One other thing...what makes you think you care any more than anyone else about building a winning program? And, good luck with that...I am certain everyone will welcome your help and support.
  17. Congratulations Brandon and thanks for a job well done. The Mean Green Nation is better for both your service to this great nation and to UNT. I am honored to have you helping lead UNT. Good luck with all the future holds for you. GO MEAN GREEN! BEAT ARMY!
  18. I recall RV saying that he wanted to see the program turn from a "beer program" to a "champagne" program. Well, if you want to be a "champagne" program one needs to start acting like it and talking like it and "showing" like it for quite some time before people recognize you as such. A bad web-site and bad links on the site is a "killer" these days in both the public and private sector. If you don't understand or appreciate that then you need to stay in the "beer program" category. A web-site that is up to date, has up to date information and links is the "door to your program". One can "give a pass" to the folks responsible for this...and give me -1's for saying it...but, fact remains, this is an overlooked area for the UNT program and, in my opinion, a VERY big mistake. In today's Droid, Facebook, I-Pad, Blackberry, Tweet, video-game world if you don't understand the importance of such...well, welcome back to the dark ages. Just sayin'............
  19. Come on, I told you to be careful about mentioning anything about the marketing program. You are a brave soul.
  20. Thanks for the re-cap. Did you take the time to speak with anyone from the Alumni Assoc. about how you can help set up other Alumni events in the DC area or get some mixers going for UNT Alumni? I hope you did as they are really good to work with and very open to helping people set up local events. Good luck to all the DC area alums.
  21. So, hubby's out of town and you have time to post...nice! Welcome back aboard.
  22. Many of these complaints simply "go away" when the new stadium is built and opened. Now, the web-site, well, that is another matter, but don't dare mention on GMG.com who might be responsible for some of that "lovely" site-work. The folks that really should be looking into this sort of thing seem to get a pass.....
  23. Simply put...NO! I understand that most believe there is a 7 win or "good-bye" agreement with RV and Coach Dodge this season, but I would like to see Coach Dodge be given every opportunity to hit the 7 win mark, and when and if it comes to the point where 7 wins are no longer possible, well, he can make that decision, but I'd want to see him finish the season and I sure hope he would. I do not want to see any mid-season coaching changes.
