Why am I not surprised?

You mean all four of them? That's a really long track record you are counting on to be your yardstick for success...and how many of the five games he has coached for UNT has he won? Not saying "no" to Coach Canales, just want folks to "tap the breaks" a bit before anointing him the "next great thing". I haven't seen enough at UNT as yet, nor enough from his past body of work to be so certain he "is the guy".
-
Amen to that, Sir. Appreciate your support for the Mean Green! The Mean Green nation need more members with that attitude.
-
Yep, like all the "fans" who will use the Ranger game as an excuse to not come to the UNT game. Sad. But, that still doesn't make up for the student body population who may come and tailgate but never hit the seats in the stands. That is really a nightmare. I do not understand that attitude from our students. I sat through some pretty tough years as a student as well as a few good "Mean Joe Green" years. Tough sell with lack of success the last few years, i get that, but I don't get it from the student body and those that call themselves members of the Mean Green nation. Nothing better than to be on a college campus in the fall with great weather tailgating and then actually going to the game. PRICELESS experiences...win, lose or draw if you truly support the Mean Green. Ok, there is something to be said for co-eds wearing shorts and boots as well, but it is the football that takes priority, right?

What kind of story, indeed. It would be yet another chapter in what has turned out to be one of the strangest Mean Green seasons I can recall. I would love nothing better than to see this team rally around Chase as their QB and make it happen again this week as they did against FAU a couple of weeks ago. Can happen...yes, I do believe in the Mean Green. This team may not have shown me the wins as yet, but they darn sure have shown me the heart of a champion. Good luck to Chase and all the Mean Green players and coaches this week against Arkie State! GO MEAN GREEN!

Hmmmmmmm...now that's a guy I might could get behind and support for the position should it come available for next season. He would probably see the move as a step up and a challenge such as he faced at PV. Could he do it again at the D1 level???? Would HE bring D1 experienced position coaches and coordinators with him or would he bring his "pals"? Lots of questions, but would like to see more of the guy...could be a candidate to interview for UNT. Nice find Coffee & Tea!

Time to dream BIG for the long suffering Rangers fans. I probably won't be able (or care enough to fight it) to watch much of the Tampa series, but I do think this Rangers team is a special bunch with some of the best team chemistry I have seen in may years. So, anything is possible with this team...they can definitely win this series, but they are just as likely to lose it in three. My hope is they win the thing and move deep into the playoffs. Who knows, they might catch "lightening in a bottle" and win it all. Rangers = World Series Champions! I just had to write that as strange as it reads! GO RANGERS...beat Tampa Bay!

Fc Dallas Clinches Playoff Spot

You gotta love the soccer/football chat here on GMG.com. Be still my heart........ -
Silver, I have to hand it to you. Very well said.

There are plenty of people in most "major university" areas who never attended college and have no loyalty to any college. There are also plenty, like a good portion UNT alums, who simply choose to spend their entertainment dollars elsewhere from time to time. No surprises there.
-
+1 for you sir...what UNT could use is a bunch more people with PRIDE in THEIR UNIVERSITY.
-
Did you prepare your personal check to help pay for any of these guys? Interesting list, but not too realistic I would think. At this point it is still grand speculation, and I guess that's the "fun" of it all. At least it keeps the conference chatter down to a dull roar at least.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RICK! I cannot tell you how much I appreciate all you have done and all you are doing to build the Mean Green. The Mean green Nation owes you a lot of thanks for a job well done! Happy birthday! GO MEAN GREEN!

I really doubt that you have any idea whether my stance would change or not. I do not want Leach anywhere near any program I care about...PERIOD. I don't care how many games he has won or may win in the future. Now, if RV decides to hire the guy, he'll be UNT's coach and he would have my support because I support UNT, but I pray RV is smarter than that...and I do think he is MUCH smarter than to hire someone with the baggage Leach would bring. There are other and better coaches out there that would be much better suited for UNT. NO TO LEACH! You are more than welcome to disagree.

WOW! I have never followed a team with such an injury situation that I can recall in over 50 years of following college football. I am sure there have been others, but not that I had any interest in following. This is simply incredible. Makes Riley's performance Saturday even that much more impressive. The kid is a "gamer". GO MEAN GREEN!
-
What? What gives you that idea or are you just having some fun here? I though Riley played very well last eveing and was happy to see UNt have such quality in a back-up when called upon to lead. Props to Riley....

Simply pitiful job by the referee crew last evening. It has been quite awhile since I have witnessed such an incompetent crew. Where did they get those guys? How do you miss that non-fumble...that knee on the ground on the punt, the fact that ULL was calling signals while on defense to draw UNT offsides, how did they miss an excessive celebration call on ULL after one TD that made the call against UNT at Clemson earlier this year look even more stupid?????? For me, I was glad to see the fire in RV's eyes and the fact that he cared enough to head to the field. While UNT lost the game on their own, due to penalties, a poor offensive and defensive scheme, etc., etc., the ref crew was just TERRIBLE! They should go back to pee wee football to get some experience before screwing up another college game.

Guy has no class and is not the type of human being I would want representing my university. There are plenty of other quality coaches that UNT can talk with when and if that time comes that could bring the wins without the idiot personality and classless attitude that Leach would bring. Just my opinion. There are as many Tech folks extremely happy to see Leach gone as there are those that miss him...at least among my Tech friends. I prefer to see UNT build a winning program with class.
-
Some people just love idiots.
-
You are kidding, right? The schemes did nothing to help hide weaknesses or highlight strengths. What QB pressure did you see last evening? I don't think it's OK to keep giving up those opening drive scores and drive extending penalties. Giving up 21 points is not OK by me...not if it means you lose the game. But, it was better than giving up 28...I'll give you that!
-
No to dumping Dodge mid-season. What would that accomplish in aiding this team? Besides, the "7 win" threshhold is not out of reach at this point. And, NO FRIGGIN' WAY would I want to see Mike Leach as the UNT head coach.

Wow, talk about a kick in the gut! I feel so bad for this team...players and coaching staff...and for the faithful fans of the Mean Green. This was a very tough loss to take after a very tough week for the Mean green. Like the rest of us, I was hoping the team could overcome the tough week and pull out another win. Beautiful weather, great tailgate atmosphere, but what a really poor game from start to finish. One can talk about how the Mean green just doesn't have the players, but for me, the coaching staff gets no pass. Their job is to coach and prepare the players they do have, and the defense has just not shown much in the way of even being able to execute the basic fundamentals...and that, fans, is coaching! Penalties once again killed the Mean Green...both offense and defense had critical...critical penalties...that cost them BIG TIME! That has a lot to do with coaching in my book as well. Game plan was pitiful...was that Coach Canales? The defense continues to give up big plays...is that Coach DeLoach? I don't think the players have given up, but I am wondering about our two coordinators? No creativity at all in the offensive game plan, and I saw the same old defense schemes getting beat time and time again last evening...while ULL found a way to pressure Riley, UNT never seemed to be much of a problem for the ULL QB's. No QB pressure, and cover schemes akin to HS ball = big plays by ULL...gee, where have we seen that before? Give up on the team...Not me...not ever...I am a proud (and continue to be) member of the Mean Green nation. This team is MY team, and this coaching staff is MY coaching staff and they have my 100% complete loyalty and support. But, even for me...that was a gut kick last evening. And, i am having a tough Sunday believing anything will change next week. Where is the creativity in developing offensive and defensive schemes from our "College experienced" coordinators that will "hide" the weaknesses UNT has and accentuate what positives remain after all the injuries?????? That college coaching experience isn't doing much for me right now, and seems to be doing nothing for the team. Give up... never...hope, always...support unbending....GO MEAN GREEN!

One thing it didn't mention...you do not have to pay the full cost at one time...you can pay it out over a five year period. That might help make it a bit easier on some who are considering the purchase of Club Level seating.

Great Event Tonight On The Touchdown Terrace
KRAM1 replied to ParksAndRecRick's topic in Mean Green Football
I agree it was a great event. Saw lots of folks and had some nice eats and drinks. As I understand it, the invitations went to Mean green Club members who have made donations to the stadium project or who have indicated a commitment to do so in the very near future. RV gave a short talk that was very good and seemed to me that RV was a bit emotional in delivering the talk. It was great to see the pride in everyone in attendance and to hear about the progress being made....and that doesn't even mention the super views of the new stadium. I am VERY proud to be a member of the Mean Green Nation, and it was a good evening indeed. One other thing of note last night...yes, Coach Dodge was in attendance, but what impressed me the most was to see our tennis coach (Coach Sujay Lama). My bride noted that she sees Coach Lama at many of the Mean Green events we attend, and she told him how much she appreciates the fact that he supports the total athletic program at UNT not just tennis. He really is a great guy to talk to, and I will definitely attend some tennis matches and support that program a bit more after spending some time with Coach Lama last evening. UNT is on the move, and it is a great time to be a member of the great Mean Green nation. SEE YOU SATURDAY...BEAT ULL!!!!!
