Can Leach, leavitt & Mangino Get Back In The Game ?
KRAM1 replied to NT03's topic in Mean Green Football
Yes, they can, but it will take work. They need to do some serious thinking about what and why led them to take the actions they did, and maybe take a step back to a lower level of coaching where the "pressure and stress" might not be so high to see if they can recover their love for the game and excitement about being around young men as they work and play hard. They can do it...if their personalities and egos allow them to do it, but it won't be easy. Many people who care only for the W/L record will clamor for their schools to hire these guys which could circumvent their self-analysis and keep their love for the game from resurfacing in another chase for glory and that big payday at the D-1 level. These guys can coach, no doubt about that. But, their actions have proven that they need to stop, take a break, think and remember why they got into coaching in the first place. -
Question To The Green Brigade People
KRAM1 replied to the green rokemi's topic in Mean Green Football
Apologist! Now, i want to see you take up for me the next time I get my head handed to me on this forum! Just sayin'......... If the Troy folks can't stand the heat they should go post on their own forum. Just for the record, I thought the Troy group sounded fine...other than when they played over our alma mater...and I'd like to see the Green Brigade get a bit more "football crowd" friendly as some of the other posters here have mentioned. On the other hand, trying to compare Troy's music school to UNT's well is like trying to compare ... well, you get the drift. -
Question To The Green Brigade People
KRAM1 replied to the green rokemi's topic in Mean Green Football
The same Troy where family trees have no branches? Ok, that may have been a bit harsh, but really, it is stupid to debate the merits of Troy's music program VS UNT's. It's not even up for debate. Troy's program may be good, but it doesn't compare to UNT's, but then again, whose does????? -
Let's just hope the ladies SHOW UP! After getting beat by TWU for the second year in a row you never know. Ha! Good luck and have fun. I know the ladies will really appreciate the support. Thanks for doing what you can to get this together in support of UNT and the Lady Eagles.

If you are using the big Internet job "find" engines, you are pretty much wasting your time. You simply must work your connections and get out on the street and knock on doors. You never know where that "connection" and recommendation will come from or who might be willing to give you a hand and/or lead. Same goes for just sitting at home mailing resumes. Get busy and make finding a job your FULL TIME JOB...at least eight hours of concentrated effort at least five days a week. Don't forget networking opportunities including the UNT Alumni Association...it just was involved in a job fair last week. My financial services career got started by accident just how I mentioned above...I was working the job market after returning from a stint in the Air Force. Hooked on as a aprt-time consultant to a welding supply firm and met a guy who was a banker...he brought me into banking, I went back to UNT for my MBA and the rest is history. You just never know, but you will NEVER know sitting behind a computer or dropping by the post office every day or so. Don't know anyone? Sure you do...just go talk to everyone you know who IS employed. get them to set you up for mock interviews, volunteer at some place...lot's of corp. and company employees volunteer time at non-profits...etc., etc. Yes, it can definitely be about who you know, but it's also about effort and who you "get to know". It's tough out there and not getting much easier...I help folks fairly often with mock interviews, resume suggestions and have introduced quite a few job seekers to potential employers. Work the crowd...meet new people...volunteer...use each and every contact you have and MAKE new contacts. Good luck to all...you never know where that career and/or job may show up! Excellent thread...maybe we can help some folks...I think alums should do all they can to help other UNT alums.

New Restaurants In Denton
KRAM1 replied to NTerock's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Have you forgotten spell check? OK, so spell check doesn't catch those sort of errors. Hey, how much did Tim pay you for your promo? However, I agree...Tim's Love Shack is good...also FIVE GUYS just opened in Denton. If you haven't tried FIVE GUYS I would recommend you do...all the toppings are for the asking. Pretty decent burger and they also use good meat grades. can't wait to try these places IN DENTON. have been to Fred's a few times in Ft. Worth Great burgers and other food, but he seems a bit "proud" of it from the prices charged. I love the food, but always leave feeling I have been over charged a bit. Never mind paying for great burgers...just some seem more "over priced" than others. Just saying.....give Fred's a try and make up your own mind. Not saying they are too expensive as I have been there multiple times and will go back, just saying they seem a bit pricy for what you get. -
So wise, yet so myseriously invisible.

GO ELI...beat the snotty socks off those Harvard guys! Ha! Actually, I have read where the Yale-Harvard game is the biggest single day for donations to the universities each year. Who says football isn't important in the Ivy League. Believe it or not, I enjoy watching the Ivy Leagues.

Has anyone heard if the Mean green Club room will be open or not before the game Wednesday? Just wondering...can't wait for some Mean green basketball. I know Wednesday is an "exhibition" game, but it's the Mean Green and it's basketball. can we get a good crowd to send the Mean Green into the season in a big way???? Any vibe on campus about a student turnout Wednesday? GO MEAN GREEN. See you at the Pit Wednesday!

Great Bill Blakeley Article In Dmn Sunday
KRAM1 replied to Eagle-96's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Man, were those days fun. RIP Bill Blakeley...you will be remembered as one of UNT's greats. -
Excellent....Yale has that game won anyway, right?
-
Probably someone donated the funds to have that done. Oregon does not want for donors these days. If it were only so for the Mean green. Where's a sugar daddy or mamma when you need one???

Way to go Alumni Association! I hope folks recognize the willingness of the Alumni Association to help out a bit with this. If I were anywhere near the area i would be there, but TX is a bit far for a commute. Good luck...please do what you can to use all of the tickets. Are you seeing any interest? Hope so. GO MEAN GREEN!

Man, my head is HC thread tired and now you want assistant coaches!

Question To The Green Brigade People
KRAM1 replied to the green rokemi's topic in Mean Green Football
WOW....touchy, aren't you? One does not have to participate in a marching band's practices to know good vs not so good results. Just like one does not have to know how to build a car to know a good one from a bad one. I don't think anyone here would ever say that UNT's marching band is not one of the best around. But, if you have been going to games at UNT as long as some of us have, you know the difference between some of what is displayed today vs past years. Just because some would rather the Green Brigade play more upbeat and "football game" friendly stuff in no way means they do not respect the effort that goes into the game day performances. You might want to step back a bit and think about that some...and if you think the Green Brigade gets criticized on this board...man, I am hopeful you have no personal relationship to the football team or coaching staff. You really couldn't stand that heat. If you come on this board and "talk trash", get ready...some of these folks take no prisoners! I should know... -
Just a comment...spoke with a person "on the inside" of things last Thursday who said that neither Leach nor Fran were on the "list". Now, I have no clue how factual that statement was, but they guy who told me is a donor and someone who "should" have some inside scoop if anyone does...but, there really have been few...very few leaks coming out about the search as far as I can tell. I'm just relaying waht was said to me...the person who made the comment will, of course, remain my secret. Ha! GO MEAN GREEN....hey, after saturday's game, I am beginning to think the idea of Canales as new HC has some real merit.
-
Nice.....this guy might just "get it"...Get it that his job as HC is so much more than the X's and O's....it involves getinng the fans back after a few down years.
-
Indeed it was...I think I stopped by your tailgate and talked with Silver a bit...stole a few nuts from the bag...but sure wanted one of those great looking burgers...just too shy to ask! Ha! GREAT DAY for tailgating, indeed it was!
