  1. Absolutely...I'll be there to cheer on the Mean Green to another victory...I hope by a wide margin!
  2. And, some people say that Denton area kids never get a look from UNT. Glad to see this and hope it continues. There are plenty of local area kids who, at a minimum, deserve a look by UNT. They can decide to sign with UNT or some other school as that is always the situation, but good to see the interest and contact from UNT. Go Mean Green!
  3. I definitely agree...this was one excellent bowl game. FIU got a good spot on 4th down during their last drive to set up the winning field goal. Quite a comeback by FIU. FIU represented the Sunbelt (as did Troy) very well. The SBC being 2-0 against the Mac does say something about SBC that is positive and should help with recruiting against the MAC. Really a great game to watch. Man, that coach and team was really excited after the game...great to see the emotion. I like to think that this will be UNT in a very short time...SBC or a new conference, but bowl winners once again!
  4. Appreciate that...that's all we should ask of anyone...to do what they can.
  5. Your donation would be greatly appreciated.
  6. My bride and I will be there to cheer the Mean green on and as a way of thanks for such a good showing at LSU. This team has earned some big time support! See you there! GO MEAN GREEN!
  7. I just got an email from Coach G at A&M indicating that thery may have not been able to work dates out foir a UNT and A&M spring game and that it will not happen this spring. G said the late March date was already booked on their schedule. Looks like the A&M game may not happen after all. Bummer...I'll keep my fingers crossed for a change in dates...maybe....hopefully..... Thanks for the input on a place to stay. If you go to the OSU game, best place to stay is right on campus at the Student Union Hotel. Easy to walk to Eskimo Joe's and the Hideaway for pizza...two "don't miss" places to eat in Stillwater. BUT...remember...GO MEAN GREEN! BEAT OSU!!!!
  8. It happens...it has happened to us at work as well. I just enjoyed getting to open someone else's mail without fear of repercussions! Ha! MERRY CHRISTMAS, Rick...I am proud to be a member of the Mean green nation and proud to have you leading the charge into 2011! GO MEAN GREEN! BE GREEN...BE PROUD!
  9. Yes, again, I will wish a VERY MERRY Christmas and a VERY Happy and Safe New Year to all the members of the Mean Geen Nation. I do think 2011 will be a super year for all the Mean Green faithful! GO MEAN GREEN...Merry CHRISTmas!
  10. CONGRATULATIONS and welcome as a new Alumni member of the great MEAN GREEN NATION. What you wrote is just the type of thing that gives me so many positive vibes for where this university is headed. Clearly, you are proud of YOUR UNIVERSITY as you mention joining the Alumni Association and the Mean green Club as a way of giving back to UNT. I say not only congratulations on your newly minted masters Degree, but also THANK YOU for being Green and Proud and for wanting to stay connected. Your 500th post is a great one! HOF worthy in my opinion! GO MEAN GREEN!
  11. Well, the OSU game sucks as far as a date for me...the wife is out of town at a conference (well, that isn't all THAT bad ...but, there is also a home men's basketball game that evening against denver...BUT, the Texas A&M game looks like a real possibility as far as a "road trip" for the bride and I...know of a good hotel near the campus? Is there a hotel on the campus perhaps? I've never been to the A&M campus in College Station if you can believe that...should be fun!
  12. What is that they say about "any PR is good PR"? In this case I am think....not so much. What a yo-yo, but we did lose to Army I am sad to say. Just another example of the local media's lack of respect for the Mean green. Only way that changes is if the Mean Green nation forces them to change it. That day is coming...that day is coming!
  13. Same thing happened to me...correct address, wrong name! But, hey, nice card! Looks like someone in the department has a "challenge" with the mail merge program. A little egg on someone's face...but, heck, it lets them know that none of us have any problem opening mail addressed to someone else! ha!
  14. so, yesterday as I am leaving work this guy sees me leave the building and says...hey, I see you wearing UNT stuff a lot and I was wondering...how old are you? Well, odd or so I thought until he says...you may be about the age of a guy that works in our office, Lonnie Givens, and who played ball at UNT. Wow...two things...first, the guy noticed that i often wear UNT and UNT Alumni logo'ed items to work, and second, he knew the guy in his office went to UNT and played ball there! I'll head up to the 4th floor to meet the guy the next time I am in the office after the 1st of the year...yep, out until the new year...YIPPEE! Small world, huh? After meeting "Lonnie" I will definitely ask if he is a member of the Alumni Association and the Mean Green Club. I hope the answer is "yes" to both. I may recognize Lonnie immediately and hope I do so I can again place a name with a face of a member of the Mean Green Nation. Point is..some random guy had noticed that I often wear Mean Green gear around the office (yes, I am fortunate enough to now work where I can do so). That means people do notice! It is important as we try to raise the awareness level of UNT around the Metroplex that this sort of thing happen...it did make me feel pretty good as I drove home last evening. Just another small "win"...very small but a win none the less...for the Mean Green nation. I hope everyone is proud to wear Mean Green/UNT gear and does it often...not just when attending Mean Green games. Put a smile on my face! GO MEAN GREEN!

  15. Just a GREAT win by the Mean Green. I realize UNT will not get the coverage they deserve out of this win, but it is a great win and a wonderful "homecoming" for both JJ and Josh. It wasn't just a win...the Mean Green took LSU to task! I will say it again...until the Mean Green Nation rises up and starts being positive about UNT the local media will not take UNT seriously and will not give UNT the time of day. Time and time again, UNT fans, alumni and students have shown to be their own worst enemy by not showing up at games, by not wearing Mean Green gear (why do you really think the local outlets have been so slow to carry UNT gear?), by not donating to the program, etc., etc. JJ has proved that UNT can and will be a program that people will be forced to notice. And, the "good news" is that all the above mentioned problems seem to be disappearing...yes, way too slowly, but disappearing i believe they are. SO, the LSU win is just another BIG TIME step in the right direction. Can you imagine how proud RV must have been of JJ and the team sitting there at LSU watching the Mean Green dismantle the Tigers. PRICELESS! GO MEAN GREEN! Congrats all the way around on a significant and well earned win over LSU. I am so proud to be a member of the Mean Green Nation...today, yesterday and tomorrow!
  16. If you are starting your tax planning for your 2010 IRS return, it is definitely not too late to think about a year-end donation to the Mean green. What reminded me was a letter I received from President Rawlins recently asking for support for UNT. My bride and I responded with another donation as it seemed a good way to "thank" President Rawlins for staying at UNT and helping UNT move forward in a very positive way. It comes to mind that there are several ways for members of the Mean green nation to help out at year-end should they be of a mind to do so. To name just a few (check with your accountant regarding tax detectability of any of these as I am not a CPA); 1) Join the UNT Alumni Association - this is a very low cost way to help out; 2.) Buy a brick to support the UNT Alumni pavilion project (they are available at $100 or $200 each); 3) Make a donation...of any size...to the UNT Stadium fund; 4) Join the Mean Green Club at any level; 5) Donate any amount to your favorite academic program at UNT; and/or 6) Make a donation to the UNT Foundation to support student scholarships (any amount would be greatly appreciated). I have listed a very few ways one can support the university here at year-end. Most can be done for as much or as little as you feel is possible given your personal situation. The point is, please consider UNT if you are looking for a great way to help make a difference at the end of 2010. GO MEAN GREEN! And to all a very Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year! 3)
  17. Sigh...we may or may not like the SBC, but we are part of that conference. Let's worry about winning the SBC championship. After that, seems to me that lots of opportunities may well fall into place for the Mean Green. I just want the Mean Green to kick some booty in the SBC on the football field like the men are doing in basketball, our golf teams, volleyball, soccer, diving, cross country, tennis, softball, etc., etc. Many of our teams are doing quite well. Now, let's get football and women's basketball up to speed and things should sort themselves out rather quickly. Can't wait for that new stadium and the 2011 season to roll around. GO MEAN GREEN!
  18. Brett, take care and get better as fast as you can. The Mean Green Nation will pray for your speedy recovery. We'll look forward to hearing how you are doing and hope the good news will come soon. Thanks for your long time support of the Mean Green. Get well soon, Brett. GO MEAN GREEN!
  19. My point that not all local kids see UNT as a "laughing stock". Perhaps the time is "now" in how UNT is perceived. Think so? Hope so...it's about time. Exceptions to every rule. However, this in no way negates 1-8 as was told to me. The fact remains that UNT fans can be and often are their own worst enemy in how they talk about and support (or lack there of) their own UNIVERSITY. Perhaps the change has started for the better...what say you?
  20. Glad to see the local guy getting some interest. Seems the kid can play. UNT vs ULM in the recruiting battle? No contest...UNT all the way!
  21. So, what you are saying is that your kids are smarter than you, right? Ha! Just teasing....How soon do you think the dates of the games will be posted? Got to see if we can make the trips...sure hope so...would be great fun. My bride says she is "in" and would be happy to go if the dates work...tell me the dates will work!!!! GO MEAN GREEN!
  22. This is really funny, isn't it? I think these guys have lost their marbles.
  23. So, it's another slow day at the Think Tank, and as such, I began considering the coming New Year and all that means. I thought it might be good to think about a resolution for the Mean green nation for 2011. here's what I came up with...feel free to add your own: In 2011 the Mean Green Nation will come together and unite under the Mean Green banner in support of its school and its programs. The Mean Green Nation will, as one, present a positive front to all "outsiders" and emphasize all the positives that are UNT. The Mean Green Nation will do what it can to support UNT both with their treasure and their talent in helping UNT move forward. And, the Mean Green Nation will show their pride by wearing Mean Green gear and colors whenever and wherever possible and appropriate to help spread the positive news. That is my New Year's resolution for the Mean Green Nation. Again, feel free to add your own. I think that is is more important now than ever that the Mean Green faithful unite and do all it can to help create a positive image for UNT. The Mean Green is rising up and the time is now for UNT! HAPPY NEW YEAR! Go Mean Green!

  24. Excellent news...great to have him on board for spring ball! Welcome to the Mean Green Nation.
  25. Sorry GrayEagle, I mean no offense, but this is the sort of thinking that we all need to dump! There is absolutely no reason why UNT should not at least try (and seriously try) to get these kids to commit to the Mean Green. I understand that UNT may have to compete with some "bigger name programs", but to be a "champagne" program you have to stop looking for "beer" all the time. UNT does not have to "settle" for anything or anyone. GO MEAN GREEN!
