Ain't this board great? Here UNT has no baseball team and will not have one for the foreseeable future, but we can all debate the merits of the baseball stadium that will not be built for how many years? Greatness! Would love to see this happen sooner than later, but there is no indication, given the current budget constraints and the opening of the new stadium and all that goes along with that from a financial standpoint, that it is even in the headlights at this time. But, if you are one of those folks who would love to see baseball return to UNT, let me tell you one way you CAN make it happen even faster than it might now happen. That is, join the Mean Green Club...plain and simple. Every dollar that goes to the Mean Green Club goes to student scholarships. Every outside dollar that goes to cover scholarship costs frees up a dollar to be used elsewhere within the athletic department. So, you want to help? Do you really want to see baseball return and just don't have the deep pockets to fund the whole thing, then do what you can do...join the Mean Green Club. Seriously, too many people want to sit back and "let someone else do it" while they continue to complain about not having baseball or anything else for that matter. You know, it's sort of like voting...if you don't vote and are not part of the solution, then you really have no room to complain. If you do not help build the program, you really have no room to complain. Those that are contributing need your help. Actions matter, not so much words. My son went to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, NY and the Academy motto is ACTA NON VERBA. That pretty much means "Action not words", and pretty much sums up what i am trying to get across here about baseball at UNT and everything else for that matter. Talk is cheap, let's see some action if you really want baseball or simply want the UNT program to move forward. Now, more than ever, your "action" is needed. PM me if you want to discuss the Mean Green Club more. I'd love to chat with you about it and try to answer your questions. GO MEAN GREEN! With your help, "good things are happening at UNT these days".

I definitely agree with your comment about Josh being a great player. I have no argument with you there at all. I love Josh White and he has been great for UNT. However, please don't talk about "not taking a lot of bad shots". OK, maybe we should define "a lot of bad shots". I guess I agree with you that there are not "a lot", but each and every game Josh throws up 3-5 "prayers" that just make me crazy, and they seem to come at the strangest of times...like when UNT is just going on a bit of a run, or has just regained the lead...and boom...stupid shot and pretty much out of control. However, there is no one on the team i want with the ball in his hands at the end when UNT is trying to run out the clock on a close game. Foul Josh and you get one of the best FT shooters we have. So, yes, love Josh...but, please stop giving me those 3-5 mini heart attacks each and every game! I'll wager that we see 3-5 Saturday night, but I'll also wager that Josh comes out of his mini-slump to lead the Mean Green to another win! Thanks for the good times, Josh...definitely the leader of this team! GO MEAN GREEN! See you Saturday at the game!

Many thanks to all who have recently joined the Mean Green Club, increased their membership level or simply renewed at their current level. It is critical for the program that more join the Mean green Club and help support the program. Like others here, I also serve as a volunteer representative for the Mean green Club. So if you have questions, PM me or catch me at a home game if you would like to discuss further. Or, as SUMG said, talk with any volunteer rep. They will all be very happy to help in any way they can. This is great to see and it is helping the Mean Green take the next steps toward being a "champagne" program! No more beer budgets for UNT!!!! GO MEAN GREEN!

Coming from a fiscal conservative, I love these ideas. Heck, they even fit in with UNT's "Go Green" environmental theme of re-cycling. WOW...a win-win and a positive PR move if handled correctly. Why not use the staff? I'll best there are some additional items that could be utilized as well. Now, in UNT just had a need for a baseball stadium.

Unt Picks Up De, Swarn Confirms Commitment
KRAM1 replied to Brett Vito's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
YIPPEE! The news just gets better and better. Good things are happening for UNT these days...it's time for more people to get on board the Mean Green train. It's heading in the right direction! -
One might not like this because they are not Longhorn fans, and as an Oklahoma State grad as well as a UNT grad, I have more reason that some to dislike this deal as I see it has a very large recruiting advantage for UT. Now, that being said, if this were UNT or OSU signing the deal I would be most pleased, and I dare say that most here would also be pleased if it were UNT inking this deal. Too bad it isn't UNT, but you cannot blame the Longhorns for doing all they can to help their program. Like it or not, this is a pretty significant deal. If you are big enough and carry a big enough stick, well, you can sign such deals. I wonder how Notre Dame likes the deal it has?

I definitely agree...winning cures a lot of things, but it seems to me the basketball team has been doing a lot of winning over the last few years, and still has gotten very little pub in the DMN, the FW Star-Telegram nor the nightly TV news telecasts. Winning seems to cure a lot of things, just not the PR problem with UNT and the metroplex media outlets. One does have to wonder just what it will take? I have to assume there are plenty of UNT grads working for these firms.

EXCELLENT...excellent. I am liking the class more and more each day. Getting some VERY needed defensive help. That definitely works for me! GO MEAN GREEN!

I have a good feeling about this game. I think the Mean green come out of the road daze and take this one.... GO MEAN GREEN!

North Texas Significantly Boosts Asst Coach Pay
KRAM1 replied to ColoradoEagle's topic in Mean Green Football
If anyone needs a good reason...another good reason...to join the Mean Green Club (or to raise your current level of support), well here it is in all it's glory. If we want UNT to move ahead, WE will have to step up as well to help make it happen. It really is way past time that UNT fans lost the attitude of "let someone else do it" because I can't afford it or because this or that happened to me while at UNT. Mostly, it is a matter of choice. You put priorities on what you consider important and you take action based on those priorities. I know it "hurts" from a financial standpoint at times...believe me I get it...but what I don't get is why some folks claim to be big time supporters and continue to provide small time help or no help at all. Giving back is a lesson that should have been learned in childhood, and it is a "learned" trait. Some folks are givers, some are not. Some just seem to want to enjoy what others provide. This is true in all walks of life, not just in giving back to one's school. I find it very hard to believe that any gainfully employed fan of the Mean Green could not do something...at some level to help the program. The "program" and the university seem to be stepping up...new stadium...new HC...new assistant salaries...new development and Mean Club staff, new winning attitude across the athletic department, etc., etc. Time for all members of the Mean Green Nation to look in the mirror, do some soul searching and see if they can't help support this program. I am not talking to simply those that post here on GMG.com because, for the vast majority of those who actively post here, they are already supporting the program with their $$$ and their talent and their time...they already donate to the Mean green Club and buy season tickets, but rather to the Mean Green nation as a whole. So, if that's the case, why post here? Well, because you know people who claim to support the Mean green or are graduates of the University of North Texas who do not give back...anything. We all know those people. One of the things we should all do is to go to those folks and ask that they consider once again being part of the solution instead of part of the problem. There is no doubt that the administration and athletic department is doing their part...time for the Mean Green Nation as a whole to step to the plate. GO MEAN GREEN! -
Sounds like a great evening...I have it penciled in...would be my first time to attend. Seems, in the past it was on a day I was already "scheduled" for another something or other. This one may just work.. Thanks for the head's up, SUMG...keep us posted. Go Mean Green...we will see and hear about a lot of the "good things" that are happening for UNT at this event for sure!

Looking good...and I am excited to say that RV has offered the use of the GYM at the MEAN GREEN VILLAGE for our game (free of charge). Tip-off is looking like 1PM on March 26th. It's the gym where the VV team plays and where UNT holds its basketball camps. Great spot...much more user friendly from a spectator point of view than the Rec Center. I mean the location, nothing against the Rec Center and the good and helpful folks who work there, it's just we would have a cost to use the facility...no cost at the Mean Green Village. $25.00 per player includes the first and original collectors edition of the first annual GMG.COM BB game. Who would not want one of these for a keepsake. They will be hot items for sure. Thank you RV for your help and support...very much appreciated. OK, we need players and sponsors and donations from those who want to help but cannot play. Anyone know a business or own a business or work for a business that might be willing to sponsor our event for the Cheer Squad? I am working on a sponsor package, so there will be some benefits for the sponsor...let me know...please and thank you. Any size donation would be greatly appreciated...details on how to donate will be posted shortly.

GMG.COM basketball game in support of the UNT Cheer Squad is "ON". Looks like the date will be SATURDAY, MARCH 26th with tip off at 1PM. The location is shaping up to be the GYM at the MEAN GREEN VILLAGE where the VV games are help and where UNT holds its basketball camps. Thank you RV for offering to help with this. As we can use that facility free of charge, we will be able to increase the funds we are able to provide the Cheer Squad. ALL proceeds...that's 100% over any costs...will go directly to the benefit of the UNT Cheer Squad. Cost to play is $25.00 and includes a highly sought after souviner players shirt...a real collectors item as you can say you have a copy of #1...there is only one "first annual" you know! We will have a post-game/s party at a local watering hole where awards and other activities will take place. Many more details to follow...but check your calendars...let me know if you want to play, your shirt size and some personal stats as to height, playing experience, male or female (yes, this is a co-ed event...if we get some ladies who want to play). Let's get this on!!!!!!! First annual GMG.com BB game...get in now so you can have bragging rights for years to come...yes, we need donations and sponsors as well as players. If anyone would like to donate let me know, and very importantly...if you work for a firm, own a business or know a business who would like to help sponsor the game THAT would be a home run! I will go to a UNT fund, so it is all legit!

Understand, apprecaite the offer to contribute. I've got you down as a contributor. When the details oh how and where are ironed out, I will definitely let you know. many thanks...appreciate the support and I know the Cheer Squad will as well...GO MEAN GREEN!
-
No where near too late...in fact, you can be the first "official" sign up. More details to follow. I hope to get a thread for the game details going soon. I'll check with Harry about that and see if we can't get it Pinned somewhere so it will stay available to folks. Thanks for wanting to participate...I've got you down.

OK, looks like we are aiming for SATURDAY, MARCH 26th with tip off at 1:00PM at the UNT Rec Center. Old men's gym is in use, so no go there. I have chatted with the Rec Center folks and that date and time will work for them. They are looking at providing us with a break on costs, so that should be within budget as well. PLEASE check your calendars and schedules and let me know if you would like to play. It would be great to have at least 4 teams. That way we can have a prelim round and a finals and consolation game as well. Yes, you can survive two games...we'll make the time not so bad! OK, we need... 1) PLAYERS 2) SPONSORS - Corporate and personal who want to make a small or large donation to help our Cheer Squad with expenses 3) Volunteers...to do whatever! 4) Game shirt design artist willing to work for the joy of doing it! PLEASE LET ME KNOW...here or through PM. Player fee will be $25.00...same as the GMG.Com football game and includes player shirt...additional donations greatly appreciated. Details will follow. Should be a great time...and the FIRST ANNUAL GMG.COM BASKETBALL GAME. Can we do this??? YES WE CAN!

More Information On New Signee Michael Stojkvic
KRAM1 replied to Harry's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Looks like a great "get" for the Mean Green. Good size...good speed. Agree, could be a super safety for the Mean green! Welcome Mr. Stojkvic. Now I need to learn how to pronounce your last name as I am most certain I will be using it a lot in the coming seasons in a congratulatory manner! GO MEAN GREEN! -
And, unfortunately some athletes do that to colleges to whom they have committed as they wait on "bigger and better" schools to offer. Hmmmmmmmmmmm...that stuff just seems bad on both parties parts. We talk about "honoring commitments" in one thread, but it seems to me "commitment" is a pretty weak word when it comes to recruiting. In this particular case, it worked out well for the Mean Green (and more than likely for young Mr. Power as well), but I hate this sort of thing. There was a time (and not that long ago when a person's word was his bond. Welcome to UNT Andrew Power. The Mean Green Nation is very happy to have you be a part of the Mean green. I think you will be very happy that you are part of the Mean Green. And, remember, the co-eds are prettier and smarter here than at Tennessee too!

Happy Birthday. Make it a great one! But...GO MEAN GREEN!

Riley Doesn't Appreciate Being Called A Quitter
KRAM1 replied to Keith7's topic in Mean Green Football
I have absolutely no problems with this article or the quote from Riley. I do believe he did give 100% every time he took the field and it is no secret that some people just don't care. The young man is only telling the truth from his perspective and relaying what his thoughts are regarding his decision. I would imagine that any D-1 QB in the country could say the same thing at times during their careers whether they elected to stay at one school or transfer. The idea that some people would stoop to the childish level of calling him a quitter says more about the people calling him names than it does this young man. It is exactly correct in thinking those people do not matter to him one iota. I do think it is time to move along. Coach Dodge and Riley will neither be part of the 2011 edition of the Mean Green. Best to wish them both well and move on to supporting those who will be part of the Mean Green's success in 2011. GO MEAN GREEN...too many good things happening for the Mean Green these days to focus on "what might have been". -
Me either, but one has to think it has more to do with "influence and money"...if you have the influence and have the money, the rules are not so rigid it seems. Perhaps the blame lies with the way the NCAA writes these regulations and then enforces or does not enforce them depending upon circumstances. I would think that has way more to do with it than anything UNT does or does not do.

Me too!

I will gladly accept that role as I know you will have my back.

Interesting Video
KRAM1 replied to UNTLifer's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Wilson needs lots of folks buying their footballs and telling them "thanks" for helping keep lots of local people employed for long periods of time...that's what Wilson needs.
