Gomeangreen.com Basketball Classic Facebook Event
KRAM1 replied to All About UNT's topic in Mean Green Basketball
TRUE DAT! Edit: Ok, now do tell me...how is "True Dat" worth a -1? Forevereagle is 100% correct. If everyone who says they are going to show up for the vent actually does show up, this will, indeed, be the biggest event we have stagged to date. How in the world is that bad? -
This is so out of line that it doesn't even deserve a further comment. You have absolutely ZERO clue about what the situation really is...sad. PM me if you want to discuss...this board is not the place. Happy to meet you over a beer or coke to discuss further.

Folks, Saturday's game against Denver is Senior Night and the last home game for our seniors, both men and women...On the men's side we say goodbye and well done to: Dominique Johnson George Odufuwa Shannon Shorter Camerson Spencer Triston Thompson, and Josh White. For the ladies, I believe the only senior to be playing her last game is; Denetra Kellum. Let's pack the Super Pit Saturday to say good-bye and "thanks" to OUR seniors. They are definitely OUR seniors and have represented us very well as well as being great ambassadors for UNT in general. I hope the students turn out in a big way to send their fellow student-athletes off to the Sunbelt Tournament on a high note. having a big turnout of their fellow students would mean a great deal to these seniors as well as seeing a BIG alumni and fan base filling the seats in the Super Pit! Please do what you can to be in attendance Saturday. GO MEAN GREEN...Congrats to all our seniors! Well done. BEAT DENVER!

Just too many turnovers and a cold offensive night. The defense seemed to step it up a notch or two. Turnovers killed UNT last night. Is that a lack of concentration or what? OK, this Saturday is Senior night and we have several great ones to send off in the final home game with big appreciations for jobs well done representing this great university. Let's pack the Super Pit to send our seniors off from their last home game knowing the fans appreciated their efforts. BE there...make the effort for these seniors if you can find a way or if it is anywhere near possible. GO MEAN GREEN!

I had a dream where folks actually knew what they were talking about when it comes to intellectual property and branding issues to inclue the use of one's copyrighted logo.
-
Miller is such a dork, but at least they were talking UNT football. Obviously Craig Miller has, once again, no idea what he is talking about...the Super Bowl teams practiced in HS stadiums and facilities for gosh sake. Good for George for telling the "rest of the story". The bad news...once more Craig Miller shows what a dork he really is...the good news...UNT spring football was a topic of conversation on the Ticket and George was there to give Miller a few facts that he obviously has no clue about. Then again, when one is clueless like Miller, it often reflects more on him than it does UNT. Maybe he's the dork they use to try to ramp up ratings by knocking a local university and getting its fans hyped up about it all. Since he comes off as stupid and dorky, do you think it's all a game? maybe a way for the Ticket to attract UNT fans waiting for Miller to show how stupid he is on the air? Could be..... Thanks George...GO MEAN GREEN!

DITTO...many thanks +1 for the great updates.

Free Lunch At Athletic Center Next Tuesday...
KRAM1 replied to ParksAndRecRick's topic in Mean Green Football
Rick...that is great...and what a super idea you had. I personally appreciate the effort you went to to make this happen. I know it takes time, talent and treasure to do these sort of things, but you said it when you said "we had a great time". No excuses, no complaining just stepping up and trying to be part of the solution to moving UNT upward and onward. The only thought I have is "why in the heck didn't I think of this type of event?" Ha! I would have loved to have been there for the event, and I hope you got lots of new season ticket apps and Mean green Club members. Great to hear Coach Mac stopped by...this guy is the real deal! Thanks, Rick...I'd love to buy you a beer sometime just to say "thanks". You name the time and place. GO MEAN GREEN! -
Agree 100%. The kelly green looks great and shows up quite well on TV. It may not be perfect, but the "Sink Navy" shirt shown and dismissed as an imperfect example was printed on what was said to be the exact approved green shade at the time. If it wasn't perfect, it was as close as we could get. And, through that effort several students received scholarships to continue their education at UNT. It's a little sad for me to see those who support UNT to keep knocking people who get off their rear ends and try to do things to help. Volunteers are just that...volunteers, who give up a lot of their free time and money to help a cause they believe in...like UNT. What they do may not be perfect in every one's eyes, but no volunteer that I have ever worked with EVER sets out to do anything but help by giving of their time, talent and treasure. BTW...new volunteers are always welcome. You too can become known as one of the "he or she's who will be blamed". Ha! Really, what you will get out of it is a lot of new and wonderful friendships and the knowledge that you have helped by being part of the solution. Pass it forward.....

OK, time for a plug....the donations button on the GMG.com board has stagnated at the $90 level. We have a ways to go to reach the $500 goal from that site. I just want to encourage you to consider a donation to the cause. We have a great event brewing and the cause is a good one. Lots of your GMG.com and Mean Green Nation members/friends have either donated, signed up to play, mailed checks directly to me and handed me donations, but we still have a long way to go. WE NEED YOUR HELP! ANYTHING...any amount that you can donate would be greatly appreciated. We are not asking for your first born child here, just something that you feel comfortable in giving. You decide. Just remember you are not donating to GMG.COM, KRAM1 or for something that may have made you upset in the past. You are helping the UNT Cheer Squad that is on the floor today and out in the community helping present a positive image for UNT and UNT Athletics. These kids are not on any sort of athletic scholarship as they are at some schools, and they get a very small budget...very small. They do a great job with very limited resources and do it because they love to be part of UNT Athletics and in supporting this great university of ours. I am deeply appreciative for those who have donated, signed up to play, etc. to date. I am also appreciative of those who are considering a donation of any size or are still considering playing. I know your time and resources are limited. It says a lot about people who with those limited resources and time step up to help. UPDATE...should have an autographed UNT football and UNT Basketball to place in a silent auction at the event...if you can't attend and want to place a bid on either or both, PM me and I'll give you the details on how you can do that. I hope to have photos of both posted on the board as soon as I am in possession of them. You should know that the UNT Athletic Dept. has been very involved and very positive and very helpful regarding this event. I tip my hat in gratitude to them...and I mean lots of them. GO MEAN GREEN...Go GMG.COM BB Game!

I think these guys are due for a nice road win. Can't think of a better place to get it right now than at Ark. St. That being said, it will not be easy, but the Green Force will be with them. Let's hope it shines brightly tonight. GO MEAN GREEN...the Mean Green nation is behind you!
-
GREAT...thanks...got you down. Check out the blog with the link at the top of this thread to read the other player bios and a bit of smack talk...let the smack talk begin! Emmitt??????
-
I am working with some folks in the athletic dept. right now about that! Will be back to you as soon as I have some info to pass along. Thanks for askin'.....
-
Just a question...you need them why? You might want to check with the alumni association about their use on anything. I am pretty sure they have a copyright on the logo (or something like that). BTW...it is a great logo and I'd like to see it on many more items, so go for it...just be sure you are not infringing on any copyrights or anything like that. This intellectual property thing can get a bit tricky at times and people do something quite innocently and then they find out they have stepped over some line...I get it...I've done that been there with the logo thing. Good luck.

I agree...I have been to plenty of spring games at Fouts and you could probably count the students in attendance on two hands ateach game. This will not hurt attendance and will probably help as it is now a Saturday and not a Friday work day. I am hoping tailgating will be allowed. I am sure we'll find out about that soon enough. This is a good thing pretty much all the way around as far as I can tell. Am sure details will follow as spring ball nears its end.

Yes, you are 100% correct. Non-players may purchase game day shirts for $25...I just need to know the size and if they want a green or white shirt and what name they want on the back (please try to keep the numbers of letters to as few as possible). Thanks for the reminder...if you are interested, just PM me with the info. Shirts can be picked up and paid for by cash or check (no credit cards, please and thank you). Checks can be made payable to UNT Athletics. Or, if need be...everything can be done through the mail or through delivery/pick-up at a different date/time. I'll work with you on this if you want to purchase a shirt to help the UNT Cheer Squad. GO MEAN GREEN!

Excellent move. A big thank you to those who made this decision. Now a much more attended an advertised event can take place. I think everyone will be more than pleased with the playing location. It's a better venue than Fouts as far as watching a game goes. Thanks to everyone involved in making this decision. GO MEAN GREEN...see you at the Spring game on SATURDAY, April 16th!

Just want to update the original playing list to make it current as some have been added and some have dropped off and some have become spectators and contributors; Players confirmed to date: UNT90 Censored by Laurie UNTFan23 Harry meangreenacct MeanGreenMatt BonfireBrian MeanJewGreen forevereagle Green59 Emmitt01 emosley GreenN'walinsVet meanrob GreenStreet hickoryhouse Ben Eaton There is still time to sign up to play, to volunteer to help, to make a donation, etc., etc. The player sign-up deadline is 5:00PM on March 11th. Sorry, had to make the call on the deadline as we need time for printing the player shirts, printing programs (if needed) etc. Still plenty of time. Please PM me if you have any questions. Want to check out the players bios...all of them before the player draft? Open the blog with the link at the start of this thread...when you do click on the number of postings you see on the left hand side of the screen...it will open the blog entries for you...post away if you have info to post, want to sign-up, etc., etc. or if you want to "trash talk" a little. Thanks to all who have signed up, who have contributed funds...and to all who will do so in the next few days. GO MEAN GREEN...CO GMG.COM BB CLASSIC!

UPDATE: New players added...we are now up to 16 confirmed players (that includes the mighty Censored By Laurie who is trying to come down from the hinterlands for the game. I have also asked about an autographed football and an autographed basketball that can be used in a silent auction at the event and after party to help raise some additional funds and have received positive responses on both, but I do not have either in my possession as yet. In addition, we are working on a possible Title Sponsor who would help with expenses and provide a place for the after event. This is going to be fun...both for participants and spectators...like the GMG.Com flag football game. You really won't want to miss the fun. DEADLINE FOR PLAYERS TO SIGN UP IS 5:00PM (CST) on Friday March 11th! After that we will prepare for the player draft and we will be ordering the game day player t-shirts. Sorry, have to cut it off at some point, so be sure and sign up now if you are wanting to play. Spectators welcome...no need to sign up for that. There is a donations site on the home page of the GMG.com forums page for those who would like to help make this a success and provide some much needed funds for the UNT Cheer Squad. Our stated goal is to raise a net of $1000 or more for the Cheer Squad. PM me if you have questions or comments, want to help or just want to comment or sign-up to help or play. My sincere thanks to all those who have signed up to play, made donations or offered to help to date! You folks are the GREATEST! GO MEAN GREEN!

Give him a call. He's a [pretty easy to reach guy. If you wait for him to call you, you might just be waiting around awhile as he may not know you want to meet with him. A little initiative in making that first contact might help. Or, become a Mean Green Club member and sign up to be a Volunteer Rep....there may be additional small group meetings in the future. The guy is not hard to find and talk to...really, just set it up. GO MEAN GREEN!

Rick...just got back from Austin representing the UNT Alumni Assoc. at denton County days. How about an update on how you event went? I really thank you for your efforts in getting this together and hope it was a great success...sorry I couoldn't make it, but was in Austin. How did it go? Thanks again...great idea, great support! -
One thing I forgot to mention from last Saturday's briefing by Coach mac before the basketball game... He mentioned that FOOTBALL 101 for the ladies will be expanded and will be bigger and better. Even with some activities for the ladies to participate in during the event. He and his wife really seem to like this program and they have done a similar event at other schools where Coach mac coached. So, I think we will see improvements even in this event that has already gotten great reviews from the participants for how it has been done. So, something currently being done well is going to be even bigger and better under Coach Mac. More good news...lots more to come. GO MEAN GREEN...really good things are happening these days at UNT!

Oh, and that is true in so very many ways. The motto of the United States Merchant Marine Academy is "ACTA NON VERBA"...roughly translated it means "Actions not Words". I think we all see the opposite in a lot of areas of our lives these days, but let us not get so jaded in our lives that we cannot see the good things that are around us each and every day. If you have seen or head Coach mac, I think you would agree that he is the "real deal". Of course, we will all be able to validate that once we have seen the results of his coaching and that of his staff. GO MEAN GREEN!

I had the opportunity, with several other Volunteer Reps for the Mean green Club, to meet with Coach Mac before the Mean Green basketball game last evening. If you have not had the chance to get "up close and personal" with the man you are in for a real treat when you do. UNT has a head coach that is the "real deal" and this guy is passionate about UNT and UNT football and where it can go. He is also passionate about improving the defense, and I think UNT fans will see a different defense this next season. I am not so much talking about scheme or personnel as I am attitude and fundamentally sound football. Coach mac has sold his home in Florida and is now looking for a home in Denton. He is serious about living in Denton and being a part...a big part...of the local community. He is dedicated to raising attendance levels by placing a product on the field that folks will want to come see and support in UNT's beautiful new stadium. I won't list lots of specifics here as he asked that several comments be kept within the room. But what i can tell you is that Coach mac is serious about turning the program around and developing a program both on and off the field and in the classroom that everyone associated with the program and UNT can be very proud of for a long time to come. He is quite candid about the job ahead and knows it won't be easy or an overnight fix, but it will be better and it will be better from day 1. I believe! And, with this being the second time I have had to be around Coach Mac, I am more convinced than ever that UNT is on the right track and that GOOD THINGS ARE HAPPENING AT UNT! Go Mean Green!
