  1. I really cannot think of much more to add from what has already been said about this group of seniors. While I am ALWAYS proud of North Texas, you guys have made me especially proud. You have elevated the basketball program and you have carried yourselves well, both on and off the court. Thanks for the great ride and thanks for all the great memories I will have of watching you play. All the best...you have earned your place in UNT history and lore! GO MEAN GREEN!
  2. GREAT article, and super happy to see the golf team getting some national recognition. Excellent. UNT has a tradition in golf that everyone can definitely be proud to say they are part of the Mean green Nation. UNT gold, both men's and women's, is on the rise again. back to its rightful place among the nation's elite college programs! Super, just super to see this. GO MEAN GREEN!
  3. GREAT IDEA UNT90...way to go. I hope you fill the room to overflow! We'll be cheering with you on the other side of the metroplex. I am sure those attending in Ft. Worth appreciate your efforts in getting this set up...could this be the start of a UNT Alumni Chapter in Ft. Worth perhaps????? No matter, it's a gathering of the Mean Green Nation and that is, indeed, a very good thing. WAY TO GO UNT90....that's stepping up to make it happen. Too bad I can't give you more than one +1...have a great time, and... GO MEAN GREEN!
  4. Very nice. Good to see the DRC editorial page being positive about both UNT and TWU.
  5. PLAYER SIGN-UP DEADLINE IS 5:00PM on FRIDAY, MARCH 11th. That's this Friday! If you want to play, please don't be disappointed by missing the deadline. Will need your t-shirt size and player bios/stats for the draft which will take place soon after the deadline. Then t-shirts will be ordered and the program will be made ready for the printer...lots to do, but the most important thing is that if you want to play, you get your name in before the deadline. PLAYER REGISTRATION DEADLINE: MARCH 11th at 5:00PM. If the blog portion of this thread is still having problems, just post the "regular" way with a reply in this thread with your t-shirt size and player bio/stats. You really do not want to miss the FIRST ANNUAL GMG.COM BASKETBALL CLASSIC!
  6. PLEASE NOTE: LAST DAY & TIME TO SIGN UP TO PLAY IS THIS FRIDAY...MARCH 11th at 5:00PM! 7. Hope to see a good many Mean green fans at Fox and Hounds this evening. I am back from Hot Springs (BooHoo) and can tell you that it is a great experience...the Mean green looks ready for tonight! Hope to see a good crowd this evening. 6PM tip-off...Fox and Hounds...Lewisville! GO MEAN GREEN!
  8. With deference to Lifer...when UNT makes it to the finals there will be a watching party at FOX & HOUNDS (LEWISVILLE) TUESDAY NIGHT sponsored by the Denton Chapter of the UNT Alumni Association. Tip-off is 6PM. No UNT...No watch party! SO...LIFER...do your thing so the Watch party can take place for all those not lucky enough to be in Hot Springs for the game! GO MEAN GREEN!
  9. Don't forget...it was worth the trip to Hot Springs just to see Ben Knox have the best 6-9 min. of his life in a Mean green uniform Saturday night. Big Ben really played and made a big impact. Anyone there would agree...great contribution. Amazing where the "step up" comes sometimes. This team is no where near ready for the season to end! GO MEAN GREEN!
  10. It was absolutely fantastic to be part of the great Mean green nation last evening in Hot Springs to watch the Mean green dismantle FAU in the second half. The looks on the FAU players and coaches were priceless and the place was rockin' I talked to several students who were loading up on the bus to head back to Denton after the game. Each said they would try to be back for tonight's game. The Mean green crowd was great...and super loud. Fun to watch White and Thompson's Mom patrol the stands and really help get people fired up! The atmosphere was first rate! More fun than should be allowed! Just a FANTASTIC night to be part of the Mean green nation. NOW...BEAT WESTERN KENTUCKY!!!!!!!!!
  11. Just a note...best 6 min. I have ever seen ben Knox play. That kid really gave UNT a spark when they needed it. Great rebounding...a super put back for two and some excellent "D" when the Mean green needed it. Gave some good min. of rest to Hogans as well...I was really happy for Ben. I think he will be really getting a boost of confidence for his play last night. Need him to make the same effort tonight...can't wait for the tip-off! GO MEAN GREEN...good crowd fro the Mean green here in Hot Springs...we'll dominate the crowd tonight against FAU!
  12. UPDATE...PLEASE....PLEASE read the blog entries by clicking on the link in the first posting on this thread...lots of info there for players and spectators alike... All player bios listed in the blog and it is from those entries that the team draft will take place...soon! We have our two coaches: (actually...player coaches) They are meanrob and Emmitt01. The trash talking will commence as soon as the draft takes lace... Still not too late to sign up and play!
  13. UPDATE...coaches announced for the Classic! Drum roll please...wait for it...... We have twisted the arm's of the GMG.com and UNT's own meanrob and Emmitt01 to be our coaches and to help with the player draft. Let the trash talking begin...well, maybe after the player draft. Thanks to meanrob and Emmitt01 for agreeing to play and coach in the first annual GMG.com BB Classic! GO MEAN GREEN!
  14. Put me down in Tasty's corner on this one. I like the "funkiness" that is the basketball pep band...and, as most folks know, I am pretty "old school" when it comes to such things...OK, to some maybe just "old", but i think the pep band at the basketball games does a great job. The "funkiness" of their attire and mannerisms is just part of the deal...charm as someone said. I hope I see them in HOT Springs later today! GO MEAN GREEN!
  15. Pure Greatness in that post, Sir!
  16. If you have a son or daughter or know of a junior high or high school student interested in attending any of the service academies (Military Academy, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy, Merchant Marine Academy, Coast Guard Aacdemy) a joint forum hosted by Senators Hutchison and Cornyn along with Congressmen Johnson, Hensearling, Barton, Granger. Marchant, Burgess and Sessions will take place Sat. April 2, 2001 beginning at 8:00AM at the Gateway Church, North Richland Hills Campus (7501 Davis Blvd, N. Richland Hills, TX 76182). This is a must attend forum for those interested. You will a lot of very valuable information on how the process works and will be able to speak with representatives from each of the academies as well as ROTC representatives and reps from the Dept. of Defense Medical Exam Review Board. You may even have the chance to speak with parents of current cadets and midshipmen along with some cadets and midshipmen who may be attending. It is a great opportunity to get a lot of information on the academies and their individual selection processes at one time. IF interested I highly recommend attending. I am an Admissions Field Representative for the United States Merchant marine Academy located at Kings Point, NY. While I will not be attending this forum there will be representatives available to you. If you cannot attend and would like information on the US Merchant marine Academy or the overall process for selection to any of the academies, I would be more than willing to talk with you. Just send me a PM with your contact info and we can set up a time/place to meet. And, before anyone "jumps" I am not trying to steer students away from UNT. Most students who seek an academy education already have a goal in mind that they seek to serve in one of the branches of our armed forces, etc. Just a public service announcement as I know that this site can reach a good many people who may know of a young person interested in attending one of our great service academies.

  17. Great story...It seems to be a "sign of the times" that UNT is beginning to get some notice around the Metroplex. More gear in more stores, a few more notices on news/sports channels, billboards, etc. Yes, it;s slow progress, but progress none the less. I am getting more and more positive comments when I am out wearing my Mean Green/UNT gear. I hope that is everyone's experience these days. Wear your Green...it does make a difference. Thanks for sharing, Emmitt...AND CHECK YOUR PM's!
  18. Just tell me...how could any All-SBC teams be announced without George Odufawa being mentioned? I have a really hard time believing this? But, great news for Tristan. I hope this makes george mad and he just lights up the arena in Hot Springs. No justice for the Big O! Also...good to see our ladies represented by Denetra. Congrats.
  19. UPDATE: Josh White has agreed to be one of our referees for the game! That gives us a CONFIRMED referee team of: Raquel Cuffie Shannon Shorter and Josh White. How much fun is that going to be, right? Worth the price of the free admission just to come watch! Better still...how about making a donation, large or small, to the event to help out the UNT Cheer Squad? All support welcome...and speaking of support, we have the following fine Denton area firms signed up as sponsors of the event so far. The Cheer Squad has been out asking for sponsors and are seeing some nice results; Fast Signs Voertman's Campus Book Chicken Express And, our title sponsor METZLER's BBQ! More to come. Please thank these local merchants by stopping by and letting them know you appreciate their support for UNT and this event! GO MEAN GREEN!

  21. I think I might can help clear something up regarding Priority Points and seating in the new stadium. Here is what I have been told from the very beginning regarding seating. The Athletic dept. does encourage groups to sit together...that includes Mean Green Club members, GMG.com pals, family and friends. How this would work with folks with different levels of priority points would be thus. Let's say we have a group of Mean green Club members wanting to sit together...all of the MGC accounts within a particular group would be reviewed, then the member with the lowest number of points in the group would be determined, after this...the group would have an assigned seat selection priority based on that members number of points. Thus assuring the group could sit together whether in Club Seats or in the lower bowl of the stadium. The group would be assigned a seat selection based on the group member with the lowest number of Priority Points. It is my understanding that this is how priority point systems work in many of the major conferences in order to actually take the athletic dept. personnel and any favoritism completely out of the seat selection process. The selections are based entirely upon priority points and not some pressure from "super donors", etc. The selection process is based on one's level of donations, years of support through season ticket purchases, etc. Not who you know or what pull one may or may not have within the athletic dept. It really is the only fair way to do it fairly and a way to take the "favoritism" thing completely out of the process. The donor actually is the one determining his/her own priority. This way, no one can "jump" over anyone with a higher point total just because they know someone with a higher total within the seat selection process. That certainly seems fair and equitable to me. And, it keeps everyone on the same playing field going by the same rules. I know there has been lots of talk about this process, but that has been my understanding of the situation from the very beginning and allows for those that want to sit together to be able to do so. Yes, the deadline for Priority Point totals seems to have moved to April 1st from the original March 31st date, but that does give some who might be sitting on the fence another shot at signing up before points are frozen. Anyway, that's my understanding...hope it helps. GO MEAN GREEN!
  22. Excellent...I'll just keep it as is...no edit...you got me first! I did definitely mean "House Party"!
  23. That is going to be some hose party!
  24. I will do that today. Great idea. EDIT...DONE! Thanks for the reminder.
  25. Flyer, I'll make you a deal. I'll donate 50% more to your campaign than you donate to the GMG.COM Basketball Clinic in support of the UNT Cheer Squad. That makes you come out on top and both are winners...seems like a win-win to me. You donate $20 to the BB Classic and I'll donate $30 to your campaign...you set the level. What say you? Go Derrick! Our man on the Council in Denton!
